It doesn't hang flush with the wall. They wanted to drill through the wall, which I didn't want them to do. They came-out 3-4 times to try to resolve the issue; the supervisor even came out. The faucet didn't just drip, it leaked large amounts of water. After I showed him the spout, he then walked out and told me "that I was too demanding." I thought that they knew what they were doing, but they didn't.
Description of Work: They put a new faucet in my shower, but it didn't fit correctly and wasn't like the one that they took-out.

Due to the high estimate and major nature of repairs had another drain company provide estimate. This estimate was approximately $5,000. Had yet another local drain company come out, who was able to remove all roots from the lines and inspect lines noting lines were in good condition for approximately $250.
Description of Work: Called for services to a plugged main sewer line. Technician could not get through the roots. Estimator recommended replacing the line at a cost of $10,000.

I called around 8:30 p.m when I saw water around the sewer main drain in my basement. Informed the dispatcher of the water. Was told someone would come between 8:30-11:30 p.m. Tech showed up at 9:30 p.m. and after a half hour inspection told me that he would not snake due to standing water. Called dispatcher for a jet who informed us that it would not be possible that night, but the next day since it would be warmer. Was given appt of 2-4 p.m. At 3:30 saw in my status online that the tech was running late on a prior job so I called to find out the status of the repair and the estimated time they would arrive. Told by dispatcher I would be called back in 2 minutes with an estimated time for repair. Received a call back at 5 p.m. telling me that they weren't coming (already an hour past the original window) and would not be able to use a jet because it was extremely cold. When I inquired about why no one had called me to tell me this earlier (took time off from work) was told: "I don't know, I just got here". I said to cancel the order and asked who the owner/manager was and was promptly hung up on. My frustration with the company wasn't that the service couldn't be performed. It was that they didn't have the customer service skills to a) inform me timely b) use a consistent reason for not being able to do the work (temperature vs. availability of technician) or c) apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Description of Work: No services were performed by company. Intial technician said he couldn't snake the drain and that I would need to have service the following day. Tech was a no-show.

They had to clear up the main drain. I spent about $200 on the job. They did very good work. They were fairly expensive. They gave me a six-month guarantee and they did come back one time. They were a good company. They were very responsive. They came out on weekends. I will use them again in the future.

They couldn't clear it due to roots and we signed a contract to put in an outside clean out and from there they were successful. We are happy. They took down the fence and put it back. They rough graded and there was some clean up that needed to be done. They cleaned up when they were in the house and were very considerate of our property.

The service person was polite and on time. He performed the job in a professional manner, without rushing to get the job done, like some others. The job was done neatly and without leaving a big mess behind. Professional all the way. I would not hesitate to call them back the next time. The cost of the job was as expected with no hidden charges. Five stars out of five.
Description of Work: Cleared the main drain line from house to the city sewer line. After doing such a good job I asked the service tech indite to try and clear a underground downspout drain line to the street, and though it was found the buried pipe to be broken the tech really tried his best to clean it out while on site.

We really liked the fact that they work weekends and it doesn't cost for an emergency call like most places. Everyone that we dealt with were very professional and very pleasant. Very helpful and cleaned up behind themselves. We were very pleased with this company and will use them again when we need to.
Description of Work: Come out and gave an estimate on the drain cleaning for kitchen and bathroom, attempted to clear lines but needed to auger lines and suggested that the septic tank be emptied first. Due to unusual plumbing configuration in the house, we had to pull the toilet, (which we did), they augered the lines and then scoped the line from the house to the septic tank as well.

We have had a problem with the drain in the laundry room backing up; when the roto rooter service person arrived this time (2nd time we have called them) he seemed annoyed just coming in the door. He told us that we had cracked pipes that would require digging up our drive way and our front steps for a total job of over $24,000. He refused to give us the dvd or pictures of the cracks he saw. We called others for estimates (which required that we pay them $300 to run the camera since RR wouldn't provide us with those) and diagnosis and learned that there are a few roots in the pipes and a sleeve that is loose but nothing that requires the $24,000 job that the Roto Rooter guy insisted we needed (and they provided us with the pictures from the camera). Needless to say, we will not be using Roto Rooter in the future.
Description of Work: We called for a drain back up problem and ended with an estimate for a $24,000 repair job (and spent $300+ for that estimate)!

We installed a washer and dryer in our *new* 100 year old home. After excitedly turning it on for the first time, listening to it get started and walking away, we returned to find gallons and gallons of soapy water on the basement floor. The floor drain it ran to was completely clogged. I called 3 top rated companies from Angies List. Roto-Rooter answered the phone, and was HERE clearing the drain before I heard back from the other two. Their worker was friendly, knew a lot about old homes and their plumbing, made suggestions, investigated what needed to be done, did the work efficiently and neatly and left me feeling very confident. They did not try to upsell me with products I don't need- and I paid what I expected to. We haven't had a drip of water overflow since then. I'm very pleased, and will definitely call them again.

I didnt use them. I'm a landlord and I have a 9-5 job as well. They were fine with going to the property and meeting my tenants, but wouldnt give me credit for the Angie's List coupon. They said I had to be there in person to hand them the coupon. That was the last straw- there are two dozen plumbing companies in columbus, most can give you a rough estimate of the work cost and usually are flexible if its a landlord situation.
Description of Work: Wasn't a fan, they wont quote a ballpark estimate even for routine services, ie- snaking a shower drain. The say its a free estimate once they get onsite. The reason they do this is so you can't shop them, and their closing rate is higher when they are standing in your house already.

The serviceman missed his arrival window by more than an hour. After replacing the internals, the toilet wouldn't flush correctly. I didn't notice this until after he left. He also charged me for a tube of caulk which he did not use. Upon careful inspection of the invoice, the serviceman did not detail these charges even though he told me it was in the lump sum for "parts". After attempting to reach customer service by phone and emails a couple of times, I got busy and gave up for a couple of months. Finding my receipt on my desk, I called back in September. I finally got someone to respond to me. They sent out a serviceman to fix the toilet. He did a fine job, however, he also tried to upsell me on other services. The original serviceman's manager still hasn't called me back despite a couple of messages left for him. Because of all of this, I will not do business with Roto Rooter again.
Description of Work: The original job was to reseat a toilet that had broken bolts. The serviceman talked me into replacing the tank internals even though I had no problems with them. He assured me that they would need replacing soon.

They were brilliant at figuring out the problem with little excavation as possible. They worked really hard and it was unbelievable. They worked through Labor Day week and I had them in my house for 10 straight days. It was a horrible project, but they did everything and it was really terrific. The plumber even fixed the plumbing under my kitchen sink since it was really bad and he couldn?t stand it. He didn?t charge anything and he was professional. I didn?t get any other bids, but I thought that they were expensive. It was an emergency and so I didn?t have time to get bids. I can?t say too much about them, but they were amazing.

The plumber showed up on time, took a look at the problem and told me he was going to have to leave and drive to a neighboring suburb to look for a part and that he would charge me for his time. I was annoyed, but agreed because I can't have a shower just running all the time. He came back and told me they didn't have the part and that he would ride with me to home depot to pick out a replacement valve. We went and got the part and he went out in the garage to sauder the parts. After he was done, this was about 5 hours after he arrived, he told me that it would be $1600 total, even though he never mentioned it would ever be more than the $650 estimate including the drive time and permits. He said he'd throw in a bottle of their drain cleaner for free. I paid, and after he left, I looked at the receipt, and he had charged me $45 for the drain cleaner, which probably would have been less than $20 at a grocery store. I feel like I was taken advantage of and lied to, and this is the reason I joined Angie's list.

They were very nice and knew what they were doing, but I'd never had a problem like that before and wasn't prepared for the cost. It was very expensive but having raw sewage covering a large portion of my basement floor was traumatizing and I had to get it fixed. Fortunately, I had just gotten a part-time job earlier that day. But, I don't know how I would have gotten the work done if they hadn't had a relationship with a bank that gave me a loan on the spot. Overall, I was pleased with my experience, but I pity anyone who wouldn't be able to come up with the money. One thing I did learn though is not to buy a house that has two large Maple trees in the front yard close to the house.
Description of Work: My sewer backed up. The company came out and cleaned it out ($450) ..but they had to come back out because the problem wasn't completely solved (no cost to me, but it still wasn't fixed). The third time they brought a camera to put down into the sewer pipe and showed me the huge root ball that was clogging the pipe. They dug up my yard, put in a larger pipe ($3800) , and also re-routed my sump pump line ($3400) so it drained out into the street, rather than the back yard.

They discovered that we actually had a problem with our pipe and that it had to be relined. They came in and used a camera to show us what was going on. They blew it out, relined it and again used the camera to show us the new clean pipes that went all the way out from inside our house to the outside. They essentially replaced the pipe that was already there. I found them on Angie?s List. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future if necessary.

Roto Rooter has always been very professional and they always leave my home cleaner than they found it. My only problem with them is their cost and recommendations for more extensive and expensive repairs. The drain seemed to be clear after the first plumber cleaned it out. When the "camera man" came a few days later he showed me that the drain still backing up, he showed me extensive roots and clogs in the pipe and recommended either $3500 to relocate the access to the drain pipe to better clean it (he said in could not be cleaned any better than it currently was) or $10,000 to put in a fiberglass lining that would essentially give me a whole new drain/sewer system. A week later I got a second opinion (see my review of Drain Busters) and he also said the drain was still clogged. He proceeded to clean it out and showed me the drain with his camera. The drain was clean as a whistle, in fact it didn't even look like the same drain. He did not recommend the repairs mentioned above but instead suggested the drain would probably need to be cleaned again in a couple of years.
