Not knowing who to call, I called Roto Rooter and they came out very quickly. After assessing the problem, including putting a camera down the drain, I was told the only real way to fix it was to dig a 9foot hole in my backyard, install an access point to flush out the lines. And This part would be $5200! I would still have to pay my deductible for insurance to cover the cleanup. They said the pipe was not cracked at this time "so that was good". I asked if the flushing could be done without installing an access point in the backyard. I was told not really because the drain is SO clogged it wouldn't be able to clear it well. I have a fenced yard for my dogs & a hole would be a major problem. Not to mention they would probably have to remove part of my fence to get a back hoe in the yard. The expense of that was never discussed. I felt pressured that this was really my Only option. I wanted to get another opinion & was made to feel I was risking a bigger issue or health problems if I waited. I asked friends for recommendations and chose ARS Rooter & Drain. What a wonderful experience that choice has been so far. Not only did they say the flushing could be done WITHOUT the excavating of my yard, they found my pipe was indeed cracked at the joint. They replaced the pipe, which included jack hammering a small area around the drain, flushed the entire drain & will be cleaning out my basement. All for $2300. I will also mention when ARS flushed the line they said once they got past the foundation, the pipe was basically clear.
Description of Work: There was a leak coming from the main drain in my basement. It needed repaired quickly & the area affected professionally cleaned.

We needed someone to install a dishwasher for us because my husband and I are not particularly handy. I had called around and knew that the going rate was around $150-300. I was trying to line up someone who could come on my day off, though, and the only company who had schedule availability that date was Roto-Rooter. They did not give an estimate over the phone per their policy, but I assumed it would be in line with the going rate. When Dave got here, he immediately informed us that he needed some additional parts, and then said "that'll be 560." I asked if he meant five hundred sixty, because I thought maybe he meant $5.60 additional cost for the part, and he sarcastically informed me that yes, it was $560 and he wouldn't be working for five dollars and sixty cents. I was quite shocked by the price and thought at first that maybe I heard him wrong. The new dishwasher itself only cost $400. He also tried to upsell me on a new faucet and when I told him that the cost was already very high, he made a sarcastic comment about the condition of my faucet. It is wobbly, but it is also functional, and I was really shocked to have a service professional making sarcastic commentary about the condition of my house. Dave then informed me he had to go out to get the new part. I assumed he meant that he was going out to his truck, but he left and then drove away. He didn't tell me he was going to leave the property nor did he tell me when to expect him to return. He was gone for about half an hour and came back with a couple of parts. When he returned, I had decided that $560 was too much to pay and told him that I was sorry but this rate was just too high and I no longer wanted him to perform the service. He told me that because he'd had to drive off to get parts and come back we still owed him $95 for his time. (Again, he did not tell me he had to leave and come back to get parts, I assumed they were in his truck.) I called my husband to ask how he thought I should proceed, and my husband asked to be put on the phone with Dave and asked him whether he thought $560 was a reasonable cost for a dishwasher installation, at which point Dave said "well, how many dishwashers do you install per week?" My husband pointed out that we knew many other companies who had rates that were half their cost and Dave shrugged and said it was the corporate "book rate." If there is a corporate "book rate" for services then why won't Roto Rooter tell their customers this rate over the phone? Maybe it's so that when you have already taken time off work and you have someone standing in your kitchen, you will just go ahead and agree to a cost that is more than twice the going rate, because at that point it will be awkward and inconvenient to tell them no and find someone else. I think this business practice is extremely shady and I didn't appreciate the attitude or behavior of the person who came to our house. Really, really recommend against using this company.

Price for work started at between $3000 & $4000 but ended up putting up to $6000 on work order. With possible add'l monies if other attention is needed. They used two add days to dry basement that did not work(drying equipment about $1000 a day). I have a half finish basement which shows the metal studs on the back side where the guys cleaned. I am told they should have opened the walls immediately. They came after me with a initial bill of $12000. This is crazy. Between insurance and me, we got the bill down to $9800.

Excellent, absolutely excellent. They were on time, they did a neat job, and they were cost effective, I was very pleased. He made sure everything was tidied up, and absolutely a great job. He did a very nice job and efficient, he came right out and was on time. Definitely very professional and knowledgeable. He was clean, efficient, on time, very knowledgeable about what the problem was, and how to get it resolved quickly. He was in and out in a couple of hours. We were very pleased with the service. He had to make a run out to get a correct size part, which he did, and he returned shortly. It was a very good experience.

It went pretty well, actually. The sewer drain was stopped up, the one that leads out of the house, so we couldn't use the bathroom or anything. They came out very quickly, they said exactly when they were gonna be here, and they were first thing. The guy was very courteous and knowledgeable. They were honest and up front about what it would cost. They did everything and he was out of here in forty-five minutes or less. They were very, very good. I thought their cost was comparable for what they did and for how much time he spent here, and what have you. The guy knew what he was doing and he didn't horse around or anything. He knew exactly how to solve it, he had the equipment, and like I said, he was only here about forty-five minutes. I had worked for a couple of hours trying to clear it, so I really appreciated it. We've used a couple of other places before, and I was never happy with any of them. There are some places that actually stand behind their name and others are only interested in getting the money they can now and who cares if you ever call them again kind of thing.

My basement flooded so I called out Roto-Rooter to get the free estimate as advertised but the contractor would not go down to the pump without charging me. He said in order for him to look at the pump it would be $95.00 to walk over to the pump. You cannot see the pump from the stairs where he was standing. It was a misleading advertisement. They were not punctual. I was given a 4 hour window and they came after that.

I booked them that evening and they were there the next day. I selected the time-frame, so they came in the morning. It was a very quick response. The technician was very respectful of my home. He covered his feet. He was working under the sink, so he cleaned out everything under my sink and put down protective covering for my cabinets and floor. He explained the process and he was efficient. He really quickly got it taken care of and tested the sink to make sure everything was clear. I was very pleased with him.

They did a nice job on the night before we went on a vacation. We had several inches of water on the floor, the laundry tubs had filled up and the washer had filled up with sewage. But, Roto-Rooter cleaned out that drain and found a clog in our main drain that probably contributed to it. They did a great job, an excellent job. The price was fair, they originally said $750 and they brought it down to $475. They were here in 45 minutes. He got right to work and he solved our issues, it was great.

I was very appreciative of the prompt service from Roto-Rooter. I had had difficulty with several other plumbing companies, both with having them come to assess our situation, as well as improperly diagnosing the cause. Roto-Rooter was able to send someone to my home the next day (they offered same day but that didn't work with my schedule). Within 5 minutes of seeing the problem, the initial technician knew what was wrong. Another representative came to our home within 2 hours and scheduled to have the work done the next day. We were in the process of moving, and the excavating crew was kind enough to try to fill in the hole in our yard as neatly as possible.

I called in late morning and was told that a tech could be here in about an hour. Within an hour he showed up and when I showed him the problem and explained what I had done to cause it and to try to fix it myself he told me the price. As soon as I agreed he went right to work. The drain pipe is very long and has four 90 degree turns before hitting the main. He ran the snake, double checked to ensure that the line was clear and put everything back in good shape. He cleaned up what little mess he had made. The job went very well and I was especially pleased that he was able to come on such short notice.

During a recent heavy rain I discovered that the underground drainage line that served two sump pumps and the gutters on the south side of my home was clogged. I did not realize this problem existed until around 6:00pm. Immediately upon discovering the problem I called Roto-Rooter Plumbing and Drain Service located at 4480 Bridgeway Ave, Ste B, Columbus, OH 43219 and requested service. The dispatcher informed me that I would be contacted within the next 45 minutes to schedule the service. I did not receive the promised call; therefore, I called Roto-Rooter again to make sure that the number I had provided had not been erroneously transcribed. As it turned out, all of the technicians were out on other jobs and the dispatcher assured me I would receive a call shortly. Approximately, 5 minutes later a technician called and informed me that he and other technicians were tied up with another service calls and one of them would contact me as soon as that job was finished. At approximately 10:00pm, Mr. John Crowl (Technician # 2609) contacted me and informed me that he would be at my home in approximately 30 minutes. He arrived as promised, surveyed the situation, and provided me with an estimate of the cost to unclog the drainage line. I had used Roto-Rooter once before, in 2009 for the exact same service and it cost me $229. Unfortunately this time the base cost was $415 but with a Roto-Rooter discount coupon my cost was $375. I don't know enough about what it should cost to run a snake through approximately 90 feet of underground pipeline; therefore, I cannot say that the cost was in line with the norm or was higher than the norm. I can say that, under the circumstances, I was willing to pay the $375 to resolve the problem; and I consider the services provided well worth the cost. The work was completed at about 11:45pm and I appreciate the excellent work that Mr. John Crowl accomplished.

It was poor. They came out and told me it would be about $300 because they had to use the industrial snake. I ended up fixing the problem myself for 15 minutes by watching an online video. The guy was very rude. I was not charged for the consult. They just sent someone out to me. I called them and on the same day, they came out after a couple of hours.
