It worked out well but they were overpriced and there were a lot of required maintenance that we did not end up doing because it was expensive. It was about $100 for the filter changes but for major filter changes, that was going to be $300.
Description of Work: We used RainSoft for our water softener. We had them change a filter probably about a year ago.

I made a call on 8-15-12 and talked with Leigh Ann in the office - she was polite and friendly and I easily set up the appointment for 8-16-12 ( between 1pm and 4pm) with her. I requested with Leigh Ann, that the service tech to come between 3PM-4PM Friday afternoon . A message was left the morning of the 8-16-12 to call the office when I was available at my home for the service tech to come.I call at 1pm and the service tech.- Ted was there within approx. 30min later.The service explain above took approx 45min. Ted only request to use my bathroom( his personnal use) and wanted to borrow a bath towel so that he would not get water on my kitchen floor or in the bottom of the kitchen cabinet under the sink where the filters were being changed.After the work was done- he took me to each part of my system(The main tank in the garage and the kitchen filters system) and explained and demonstated the care I was to do each week to the system. the payment process was fast and easy.Ted was courteous and knowledgeable and did not talk " down to me"as a woman.Thanks to Ted- I feel confident that I can change the filters myself next time and save money on a $99 service visit as long as I am not have any trouble with my home water treat system.
Description of Work: Full 10 point check of my 9 year old water softner system , replace 3 filters , changed timing on the system's regenerate process from once a week to twice a week so I have better quality water.Service tech. -"Ted" answered all my questions on the system and demonstrated proper care of the system to me and gave me advice on buying the best kind of salt for my system and where to get the salt cheapest (not from the company he said!).

My interaction with them went really well. The installation was wonderful, and the product was good. I would not necessarily recommend that particular salesman; it didn’t have anything to do with anything, but he lied to us about little things, and it made me wonder what else he was not truthful about. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

We entered a "contest" for a gift certificate at a local home show. We were called to let us know we had won, but we would have to set up an appointment to allow them to test our (city) water in order to receive our gift certificate. We set a date and time, leaving work early to meet the technician. He never showed up. Several days later they called and asked to set another appointment, which we declined.
Description of Work: They were going to give us a gift certificate and a free water test.

They were responsive, punctual and they did what they said they would do. They brought in an electrician who made dedicated circuits to their system and it was at no extra charge. The quality of their work was good and I was satisfied with their service

I received a call from Home Depot Home Services. I had signed up to win a grill or an $800 Home Depot gift card. A water tester was scheduled for the next day. We tested the water with his portable system, without it, and water filtered through a Brita pitcher. I was disgusted. Even though it was pricey, I felt it was nice to try to get clean water. The tech convinced me not to buy the air purifier because he said it didn't do a good job. I appreciate the honesty. I also got a $20 gift card. The next day, Gary came out and installed everything, and was really professional. A week later, after replacing my fridge, they sent Keith out to hook up the fridge to the reverse osmosis system at no extra charge. I was also told that they would move the water system if you moved and wanted to take it with you at no extra charge, but I hope to be in my house for a good long while.

Our house had a Rainsoft water softener when we purchased it. We have used Rainsoft several times for minor repair work, and have had very good service from them. They have shown my husband and I how to do some of the troubleshooting and repair, and several times over the years have been able to walk us through problems on the phone. Although we have had several service calls with Rainsoft, I believe that is due to the very poor quality of our well water, not with poor-performing Rainsoft equipment.
Description of Work: Replaced the piston and shear pin in our water softener.

The tests yielded some startling results. While I do believe them that our water really does need to be treated, some of their testing methods seemed a little off to me. Prior to me really thinking about all of this, my wife and I agreed to have them come out and install a water filter, reverse osmosis, and an air filter. After agreeing to purchase the systems; I checked Google, the BBB and Angie's List; After I reviewed my findings, I decided to cancel the installation. The sales rep, the customer service and the management were all very professional and understanding about my concerns. They did a great job there. But they're a little too spendy and the sales pitch didn't seem 100% honest in my opinion (maybe 88% honest?). I have a lot of reasons for saying this that I can't fit into this space.
Description of Work: Their sales rep came out and did a few tests on our water. They were hired to install a whole house filtration system, a reverse osmosis drinking water filter, and an air purifier. The contract was cancelled before they installed.

Recently, we received a postcard offering a $50 gift-card. I sent it back in because I was interested in a water system. An appt was scheduled a week in advance. The night before a message was left confirming the appt - I was asked to call if there were any questions. The day of, a message was left at home at 12:30 asking if we needed a technician to test, or a sales person based on a the prior visit. At 5:30, I received a call on my cell phone but no message was left. I arrived home 15 minutes before my appt. I called and was told no one would be coming out that evening as they did not know who to send. I have no idea why no one called my cell phone or that this was not identified earlier (I mentioned it when I set up the appt). They also said we would not receive the gc. I spoke with several Rainsoft employees and they did find someone to come out later that night - however, we asked them not to come based on the service we received up to this point and other Angies List postings.
Description of Work: Last year we had a rep from Rainsoft visit. He tested the water and explained well. After an hour or so, we asked if he could speed up as we had restless kids. He packed up his stuff and left without really saying anything else.

Kitt, one of their sales people came into our home to test our water, and told us that the chlorine was four times stronger than what would be in a public swimming pool. He then showed us numerous articles about chlorine causing cancer. He then put metal rods in a glass with water, which made black soot-looking material. He said we were drinking this. He told us our water hardness was over 16 and showed us articles on how bad hard water is for your home. We were frightened and immediately signed up for a water softener and a reverse osmosis filter for $4,900. After he left we checked Angie's list and the BBB. Not good. My husband bought a kit to test our chlorine and the level is not even measurable. We confirmed this with our water company. I also took a water sample into Sears. They told me our water hardness is 8. We ended up purchasing similar two products from Sears and are very happy with both. The cost was less than $1,000 including a three year warranty.
Description of Work: No work was performed and refund was received.

SALES REPRESENTATIVE MADE AN ATTRACTIVE SALES PITCH. VERY INFORMATIVE. HOWEVER, COMPANY PROMISED A GIFT CARD TO LOWES FOR ALLOWING THEM TO MAKE THE SALES PITCH. SALESWOMAN WAS VERY IMPRESSIVE WITH TESTS. HOWEVER, SHE PRESSURED US TO BUY THE SYSTEM NOW DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE ASKED FOR SOME TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT. SHE ALSO TOLD US THERE WAS HUMAN WASTE IN OUR WATER, BUT THE CLEAN WATER ACT DOESNT ALLOW HUMAN WASTE TO BE IN A DRINKING WATER SUPPLY. WHEN SHE LEFT, WE CALLED OUR PARENTS FOR INFO AND THEY RECOMMENDED AGAINST GETTING A WATER SOFTENER WITH CITY WATER. WHEN WE CALLED BACK TO CANCEL OR AT LEAST RESCHEDULE (WE HAD 3 DAYS TO CANCEL), SHE WAS VERY PUSHY ON THE PHONE, SHE TOLD ME I NEEDED AN EDUCATION ABOUT OUR WATER, AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME. BEFORE THAT POINT I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED RAINSOFT FOR FUTURE BUSINESS, BUT RUDE COMMENTS LIKE THAT TURNED ME AWAY. MY ADVICE IS TO ASK FOR A FEW DAYS TO THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE SIGNING ANY PAPERWORK.

THEY CONTACTED ME WITH A REPORT OF THE WATER AND WANTED TO COME TO MY HOME TO SHARE THE INFORMATION. I HAD TO HAVE THEM COME TO MY HOME TO GET THE GIFT CERTIFICATE, SO I SAID OK. THEY PRESENTED THEIR WATER SYSTEM AND WANTED TO TEST MY WATER MORE. IT WAS A VERY HIGH PRESSURE SALES EXPERIENCE. HE HAD ME FILL OUT A FORM AND TOLD ME VERBALLY THAT I SHOULD SIGN IT SO THAT THEY WOULD HAVE PERMISSION TO CHECK MY CREDIT IF I DECIDED TO FINANCE THE PROJECT. I DIDN'T GIVE THEM MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER ANYWHERE, SO I SIGNED IT. THE FORM HAD NO OBVIOUS INDICATION OF BEING A SALES AGREEMENT. THEY CALLED THREE WEEKS LATER AND ASKED ME IF THEY COULD INSTALL THE PRODUCT, I SAID NO. THE SALESMAN THEN STOPPED BY MY HOUSE AND TRIED TO GET ME TO AGREE TO AN INSTALLATION DATE. I TOLD THEM I WOULD CALL IF I WAS INTERESTED. I THEN GOT A LETTER FROM THE OWNER THREATENING TO ENFORCE THE "SALES AGREEMENT" IF I DID NOT AGREE TO AN INSTALLATION DATE. THE OWNER WOULD NOT SPEAK WITH ME TO RESOLVE THIS.

The member signed a Sales Agreement, but failed to indicate a date for installation. The reason she gave for not being specific for the install was that she needed a short period of time to clean up her basement. The Credit Application contains her social security number answering her report where she states, "I didn't give them my social security number anywhere." The member was approved for financing sufficient to the Sales Agreement. The member did contact us and said she did not want to go forward with the installation. The member is seeking "termination of the sales agreement." Ohio has a three day right of rescission, but she failed to exercise her right of cancellation. At this time, Pure H20 Inc. would not agree to resolve this issue to her satisfaction. It appears the member's objective was to get a $50 gift card and, to secure that result, made certain false representations and signed certain documents with no intention of fulfilling her end of the bargain. GREAT SALES PITCH, AFTER A FEW WEEKS, WE DIDNT FIND ANY SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS. THE FINANCE COMPANY CALLED BACK TO FOLLOW UP, AND WE EXPLAINED THAT WE HADNT SEEN ANY IMPROVEMENT. THE SALES PERSON CALLED LATER TO PRESS US ABOUT FINANCING, AND MADE EXCUSES ABOUT THE LACK OF IMPROVEMENT OBSERVED. THEY CAME BACK TO DO SOME ADDITIONAL TESTING. THE RESULTS WERE DIFFERENT THAN THE ORIGINAL RESULTS WE BASED OUR BUYING DECISION ON. WE WERE STILL ATTEMPTING TO BE PATIENT ABOUT SEEING RESULTS, THOUGH WE WERE CONTINUALLY PRESSURED ABOUT THE FINANCING. THE SALES PERSON HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY AGGRESSIVE AND RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I EVENTUALLY ASKED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM, AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE OWNER, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT. I DID GET A CALL BACK FROM THE SALESPERSON SAYING THAT THE OWNER WOULD SUE US UNLESS WE ACCEPTED THE ORIGINAL AGREEMENT. ITS BEEN QUITE FRUSTRATING.
