Protech Northland Heating & Cooling

The work was scheduled for a few days after signing the contract and was done in one instead of the anticipated two days by three or four workers who were polite and professional. After the installation, an energy audit was done by a representative from Columbia Gas. During the audit, a small gas leak was found near the new furnace and the auditor said that the gas would have to be turned off if the leak wasn't fixed while he was there. A representative of ProTech Northland, who came soon after being called, said he didn't think ProTech was responsible for the leak and that anyway ProTech wasn't allowed to fix it because of its location. A representative of Specialty Gas House fixed the leak and ProTech latter agreed to reimburse me for the expense even though there was no proof that ProTech was responsible for the leak. When the weather warmed up, a representative of ProTech came to make sure the air conditioner was operating properly. The cost of the project was eventually reduced by over $1000 as a result of rebates from Lennox, AEP, and Columbia Gas. The latter two rebates were the result of having energy audits done. ProTech assisted greatly in the application processes. My only complaint is that the Lennox rebate took about four months to reach me.

our air conditioner broke over the weekend it wasn't an emergency so we left a message and waited for a call on Monday morning they called before 9:00 AM and said they would be here late afternoon they called @ 3:51 PM said they would be here in 20 minutes they were here diagnosed repaired and on the way out the door by 4:42PM for less than I expected.

My A/C was shot, and my furnace was old. I did quite a bit of research going into this, and had some pretty specific recommendations from my uncle who is an ex-contractor and current code inspector in a nearby city. Called Protech and told them I needed a new AC and was contemplating replacing my furnace and potentially installing a heatpump. Didn't go into specifics about what I knew or was looking for. Decided that I would let the company do the talking and see what they offered up. The president Bill Tinsky called me very soon and set up an appointment to come out the next day. He came out, was personable, and seemed like an extremely straight shooter. He took some measurements, asked a few questions, and worked up a quote. He made it clear that he wasn't a and quot;salespersonand quot;. He was there to give me the best system at the best price and said thats how he has built his business. The system he proposed was almost exactly what my uncle and others had recommended. Best of all, the price he quoted was at the bottom of my budget!!! He even offered to do the paperwork right there for a $400 AEP rebate. I signed the contract and scheduled the work. A two man team installed the new system on Monday. They were courteous professional and CLEAN! I think my basement is cleaner now than it was before they arrived! All in all this was a great experience. Never ever at one point did I feel like Bill was trying to upsell or swindle me. Honest guy and a reputable and established company. Hopefully, won't need to call them again for a very long time- but they will be my first call when I do have HVAC needs. The installers also said they will be back out to test my AC and get it up and running when warm weather hits. Highly satisfied with the money spent.

Contacted merchant to request a furnace tune up in preparation for winter use. While the technician was at the house maintenancing my furnace, I purchase a maintenance contract of two visits over the year: once in autumn to tune to furnace and once for this coming spring to do the same for my A/C. Tech also had a look at my humidifier to see if it was OK. He adjusted the water supply line to it and got it flowing.

The two guys that were here, Larry and Chris, were busy constantly. They knew what they were doing and did a good job with the PVC piping outside. My old unit had sat on a big heavy concrete block and they were very nice to move it out of the way for me. They cleaned up very well and there was nothing left behind. They also negotiated the price with me.

It was a great experience. The sales person was on time and very knowledgeable. He explained in detail several options from best, better and good ; willing to answer all my questions.got me on the work schedule at my first available time. The technical crew was very professional and courteous. They arrived on time; removed the old furnace and AC.; installed the new equipment. They walked me through how to operate and maintain the new furnace, AC, humidifier, and filtration system. The clean-up was without fault.

They replaced the old one by putting in a whole new unit. They were recommended to me by my neighbor. I was pretty much satisfied with their services. I would use their services again in the future if I need to.

An installer arrived about 2:00pm. That was just 1 hour and 15minutes after I made the call. I now have a new water heater. The installer was very professional and did an wonderful job. ProTechNorthland has installed 2 furnaces, A/C and I believe this is the second water heater in the past 30+ years. The have always done a wonderful job. They are trustworthy. I believe their prices have always been fair. I just can't say enough good things about them. Joann Head

I made an appointment for a furnace tune-up. When I called, I was told the price would be $10.00 more than what was on their website. I was told someone would come out to give me an estimate for the air duct cleaning while the technician was doing the furnace tune-up. Aaron showed up exactly on time, was very courteous, and did a thorough furnace tune-up. No one ever showed up for the air duct cleaning estimate, so I called the office. I was told that someone would call me back right away. I received a call from Ron. He said the person I spoke to when I made the appointment did not give him my information about requesting an estimate. He said he would come out the following week. When that day arrived, Ron did not show up or call. When my boyfriend called to see where he was, Ron told him that he had left my name and number at the office. He offered to come out for an evening appointment, but we decided against it. It appears our business is not that important to them. We will not be contacting them again for any type of service.

I use Protech Northland for regular maintenance of my furnace and air conditioning and was thrilled to discover their prices for complete replacement were several hundred dollars less than the next best best quote. The work took less than half a day and the workmanship was excellent, clearly of much higher standard than the original builder. I particularly liked the very neat flue outlet installed on the sidings which looked much better than the ugly swan necks on other high efficiency furnace installations I have seen.

Came when they said they would. Were courteous and left the house clean. Walked us through the process and answered questions.

The employees showed up on time and introduced themselves and also explained the processes that would happen throughout the day. They were very detailed and did everything on the time schedule they said they would. After they were done, everything was cleaned up and put back the way they cound it.

The technician, Tony, did an excellent job. He managed to take the crimp out of a plastic drainage tube that had been damaged earlier by a Favret heating technician. The crimp had prevented condensation from draining to the outside and caused the condenser pump to smell damp and moldy. He thoroughly took apart and cleaned the condenser pump showed me how to test it to make sure it was functioning correctly. He also checked out the air conditioning unit and verified that it was cooling to the right temperature. He was very surprised that Favret claimed the air conditioner was on its last legs and said there was no reason it wouldn't continue working for several years, and there was really nothing wrong with it.

I had first called Favret, because they have worked on my system for 21 years. After calling at 9:30pm and being promised a return call, and calling again at 11:30, having received no call, and again being promised a call, I contacted Northland. The answering service representative said that I would receive a call from the service person within one hour. "Aaron" phoned within 15 minutes. He told me that he wasn't taking any more calls-as working at night is dangerous. He told me I was the third or fourth-I can't remember which, person in line, and he was resuming work at 9am Sunday morning. Sunday at approximately 10am, Aaron phoned to advise me that he had finished his other calls. He asked if it was raining, and it had just started to rain in my area. He said it was unsafe to work in the rain, which I understood. He said he would phone when the rain stopped. An hour or so later, the rain stopped, and he phoned to say he was on his way. He arrived within 15 minutes, and after taking the cover off, advised me that the 'capacitor was blown'. He showed me the difference between the one that had died, and the new one. He installed the new one, and the a/c worked. Aaron was polite, professional and thorough. I gave a "C" for price, only because the emergency service call charged seemed high. Still, I have allergies, which were exacerbated by not having a/c on the hottest day/night of the year-so I definitely could not have the pollen/humidity in my house until regular service resumed on 9/6. I highly recommend this company because both the answering service representative and Aaron did what they said they would do, and did so in a professional and responsive manner.

When Mr. Tinsky made the proposal I asked him if they had a payment program. He said yes and gave me three options for 36, 48. and 60 months. I had just retired and was unsure of my finances so he suggested to take the 60 months and pay it off early to which I agreed. He also suggested a two year Complete Care Service for $495.00 and a three year tune-up program for $300.00. March 24, 2011 when the installers completed their work I paid them $1055.45 with a check made out to the company. When I received my bill form the loan company it was for the full amount. I called Mr. Tinsky and he advised me that the $1055.45 was a buy down. I advised him that was not my understanding. He said to call the loan company to get my money back. I advised him that I just refinanced my house for $250.00 why would I pay $1055.45 for $9595.00 loan. He advised me their was nothing he would do to help me and to call the loan company. I immediately went to the credit union and obtained a signature loan and paid off the loan company. I advised Mr. Tinsky of this and he said what was my buy down for the signature loan and I advised him of the interest rate that I received and he acted like I was lying to him and wanted the telephone number of the credit union so he could contact them. He advised me that he has been in business for 45 years and they don't make mistakes. I decided not to do business with them and I tried to cancel toe Complete Care Service and the maintenance agreement with them. He advised the I would have to contact Complete Care for a refund. I call Complete Care and they canceled my agreement but said that I needed to receive the refund from Northland Heating and Cooling. Only after Complete Care sent me a letter that they canceler my contact did I received a refund check from Northland. Complete Care uses Northland Heating and Cooling to preform the services they cover. Northland Heating and Cooling them sent me a $300.00 for the maintenance program. The loan company refunded the $1055.45 for the buy down. The manufacture gave me a rebate for purchasing their product. I have been working with the BBB for a resolution to this matter as of today it has been resolved. Before you sign a agreement with this company have a second person go over it or an attorney so that you understand all the terms

the technicians that came to do the work were prompt, professional, and considerate of my requests. everything works as expected. they took time to show me how to work the new thermostat, and how to disassemble the old air conditioner, per my request. the work was reviewed by a foreman and the owner of the company after installation was complete. they also handled the rebate paperwork.

The service was great. The guys were very professional. The arrived on time and immediately went to work ripping out the old unit. They got the new unit installed and then explained to me the differences between the old and new one and told me how much of a benefit it would be. They installed the programmable thermostat and showed me how to set that as well. They did a great job of making sure I was aware of exactly what they were changing, why they were doing it, how much it would cost me, and what the benefit was. We've had this furnace for three winters now and it works great!

They were prompt and explained everything. They came out and repaired the same and did a good job. They were good in their follow ups and gave me options. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

I have used them for years and have thought they were wonderful with their service, but when I went to by a new furnace and air conditioner from them I didn’t think they came in with the best price. I am using the new company I purchased a furnace from for service.

I contacted them after looking at the comments and reviews. They were very professional. They kept me informed what was going on. When he did the bid he was very thorough and went over the details of the job. I don't remember anything negative. They were on time and work was done quickly.

Everything was great. They installed a new motor on a Wednesday and it heated ok for a day, which they did not charge me for. They came back out on Saturday and said that it was admitting Co2. They had to shut it down for safety. They made an appointment to come out Sunday. They made an educational presentation for me which I appreciated. They were out the following morning and got my furnace installed in one day. They worked all the way through lunch just to make sure they would finish. They came out the next day to set up the water heater and A/C unit. They layed down tarps to keep clean, took out the trash which they picked up within an hour and half and kept everything up to par.

The owner (Bill) came out to give us an estimate. He gave us quotes on the two high efficiency furnaces made by Lennox and explained that we would qualify for the energy tax credit. He was very professional and easy to contact when we had questions. We called to schedule the installation and they were able to come out within 2 days. Larry and Roland installed the furnace and were great to work with. They were very polite and explained everything. They did a great clean up job too.

Overall I was happy with the service. They called before they came and even gave me an estimated time that morning of when they would be arriving. Were in and out within a half-hour and he explained everything he checked with me.

Bill (the owner) came out for the estimate. He was very helpful and compared the cost vs efficiency of multiple systems. He was very willing to beat the price of a competitor, who was also offering us the same Lennox brand system. When I called back later to schedule the installation, they where able to be out just 2 days later. Larry and Rolland (the techs) were both very polite. They did a great job of cleaning up and explaining the new system to us.

They did an excellent job. It helped on my utility bills! They also educated me on possible tax credits for purchasing an energy efficient model. I also appreciated that he didn't try to oversell me. Other companies were even trying to sell me inferior models, less effective, for more money.
