They advertised weekend hours at no extra cost. Our opener stopped working on a Friday evening so I called and scheduled an appointment for a quote for Saturday. The tech arrived on time and provided a quote including installation. We decided to get a second quote and the price from the other vendor was $450. So although they "do not charge extra" for weekends, we found that their price, for the same product, was outrageously high.
Description of Work: Provided a quote for new garage door opener.

They did a big job and he did spend a good amount of time on the job. I have just recently lost faith in them. I thought that I shouldn't be developing a problem again after I had just overhauled it. I finally decided that I would rather deal with a smaller company than a franchise.
Description of Work: My door was noisy and they ended up redoing the springs and putting new rollers on.

They were prompt, friendly, and very pleasant to work with. They seem very qualified and knowledgeable in their line of work as well, and I would recommend them to others. Getting this yearly inspection has prevented future issues!

Matt went beyond the call of duty as this was a surprise for my parents. He followed up with my parents to make sure they were happy and came back a second time to program their car remote. Excellent service all around. They were very responsive and even sent a picture ahead of time of the technician that would be coming to do the work.
Description of Work: They installed a garage door opener in a garage that was built in 1911. They had to customize the way the opener was installed due to the lack of head room with additional support rods.

Their price was reasonable. He was knowledgeable and there were a couple of things that needed to be done but he showed me how i could do it myself and buy the spares from the hardware store. He was really knowledgeable and helpful. He came late but he kept us updated and ended up being 2 hours late. He did not leave us wondering where he was.

Tom arrived and was very professional and knowledgeable. He explained my different options and offered suggestions but was not pushy or "hard sell" with the packages. He also found an additional problem that I was unaware of which could've been very damaging had it not been repaired. He showed me what the problem was, inspected the other parts/rollers/and motor as well as lubricating everything (not charged, just part of what he did.) He explained the warranty and what to expect from the new parts. I appreciate the same day service and courteous attitude. Will definitely use again.

The provider advertises that they service overhead garage door openers. What they do is inspect, advise you what is wrong, and only allow a replacement installation of a lift master brand garage door opener that starts at almost $600, with prices going up after that. I totally understand that my sears garage door opener, after 20 years, is done. I get that. What I did not get was that they would charge me $55.00 to tell me that and provide as the only solution a spend of well over half a grand. No other options, no other alternatives. As the salesperson that came said, "The only garage door open we sell is the LiftMaster." Then I said, why not call your company, the "Liftmaster Garage door Opener" company? I know that those systems are extremely pricey, and I would never have asked this company to come out if I had known that the only option was to buy a Liftmaster." Statements like, well, we can replace the motor in the 20 year old garage door opener, simply don't ring true. They don't have the part, they would come back weeks later, and the cost would exceed the cost of a new Sears or comparable brand Garage door opener (so, once again, they are the Liftmaster Garage Door installation and servicing company). Net/Net: why not be honest? I advised them that my garage door was broken, so why not tell me that a repair would be 250 or more and take weeks, or we can install a new liftmaster. Those options, fully disclosed upfront on their website or over the phone, would have avoided all of this. They ended up with $55.00 of mine, I ended up with nothing but the need to go to someone else to install a new garage door opener. The company was punctual and responsive, and why not? Every service call is either a "come back we don't have the part and it will be $250 when we come back, $55.00 please", or, "fifty-five dollars see you later", or, "I just made some big money installing a top of the line liftmaster". Am I happy? No. Would I recommend this company, No, unless you wanted to install a new liftmaster garage door opener. I have no doubt based upon the size and equipment on their extremely nice and professional looking truck that they do a great job installing new liftmaster garage door openers. I do not begrudge the $55 service charge, I expected that. What I did not expect is that I would end up paying that $55.00 without any solution offered other than shelling out another $600+.

Precision replaced my garage door over 10 years ago and it came with a warranty, however, my husband hit the door with the car and invalidated the warranty since he caused some damage. Anyway, Precision fixed the door and only charged us a service fee since the main office allowed it to be covered under the warranty.

They came out the same night. They waived the night call change. They immediately diagnosed the problem and immediately repaired. They talked us through every thing that they did and what it took to fix it. It was done so kindly. It was exceptional. One of the owners, Beth, and the serviceman, John, were great. We could not have had a better experience.

When the work was done, I felt ecstatic about the work done. When men come out to work at your house, you instinctively know right away if they know what they are doing. At other times you feel a little nervous. These people knew what they were doing. They went right to it, they were done in a very short order of time, it worked perfectly. I've since had one problem with the door and it was a spring mechanism at the top. I called them and they came out immediately. I will definitely call them if I need a new door or if I have any problems.

The garage dfoor on my rental property broke. Unbeknownst to me, my tenant called this company before calling me and scheduled a service appointment without my consent. When Precision Door arrived, another company was already there performing the service. The tech called my cell phone and proceeded to chew me out for wasting his time. He then demanded payment for their minimum trip charge of $55.00 and said he was not leaving without being paid. I got quite an earful about how this was a waste of his time and his manager was not going to be happy. After trying to speak to him rationally and being yelled at for a few minutes, I relented and gave them my credit card information as I was heading out of town and didn't have time to heckle with an irate technician. After this exchange, I called their office and after repeated requests to be transferred to a manager, my call was finally given to someone with authority. I explained the situation and the person on the phone said that they were sorry that the tech treated me in that manner, but that I did owe the $55.00. In the end, I don't feel that I should have been charged as I did not make the service call. Threatening someone over the phone over $55.00 is incredibly unprofessional. This company screwed up big time as I would have thought about calling them in the future for any of my properties. But now? No way would I ever deal with these people again.

We had this company out in 2006 because our garage door had fallen off the track on one side. The techinician recommended that we do a "overhaul" which included replacing all parts of the door system but not the opener because this came with a "lifetime warranty" The price quoted was about $400.00 more than just fixing our door without the "lifetime warranty". I don't remember what we paid for this, but we thought a "lifetime" warranty would be great so that we wouldn't have to pay for any future garage door problems again. Well in 2009, the door came off the tracks again and I contacted Precision explaining that we had a lifetime warranty. Well, over the phone, our lifetime warranty was explained differently. This time it was clarified that the warranty was on parts only and I needed to pay to have a technician come out and for labor. I was not going to pay so I asked to speak to a manager. After talking to the manager, they sent a technician out for no charge and they repaired my garage door under my "lifetime warranty" but explained that my warranty only covers parts in the future. Well we just had our next garage door problem. The door did not come off the track, instead the opener only closed the door, it would not open the door. My husband trouble shot the problem and decided that it was a roller or track problem and contaced Precision. He was told it would be $55.00 to have someone come out and take a look. I called a few other garage repair companies, who told me what to do to check if it was my track or roller problem and adviced me that the problem was probably our opener and that it probably needed to be replaced. After discussing this with my husband, he wanted to contact Precision in case the problem fell under our lifetime warranty. So I agreed to pay Precision $55.00 to have someone come out to see if our problem fell under our lifetime warranty. Well it didn't but the technician performed all the adjustments I have listed above than told us we needed a new door opener and charged us $140.00 to give us that recommendation, and began giving us options and prices above and beyond that if they were to replace our garge door opener for us. My husband contacted the company and they said they would have someone call him back on Monday (this was on a Saturday) so he wrote the technician a check for $140.00. When I got home he explained to me what had happened, I immeditately called the company myself, reported that I was an Angie's List member and that I would be reporting this to Anigie's List and the Better Business Bureau. They put me on hold and then asked if the owner could call me back. She did within 30 minutes. After going through the details and history with her over the phone for over an hour, she stated that she wanted us to be happy and she wanted to try earn our business for the opener. I gave her the prices we had seen on Angie's List's Big Deal for a Liftmaster Elite 8550. After speaking with her again on Sunday morning, she decided she could not meet the deal that Angie's List ran and that the best she could do was to refund us the labor cost of $85.00. She still charged us the $55.00 to have the technician come to our home.
Description of Work: Our problem was the garage door would OPEN but would not CLOSE using the opener remote. The techniciainal tighten the trolley chain, adjusted the springs, adjusted the chain tension, fixed minor track bends, balanced the door, and bent the reinforcement bracket.

Response from Precision Overhead Garage Door Service
I received a call from our customer call center that Mrs. M had called and complained about the $140 charge our technician had charged her. Our technician had spent about one and a half hours repairing the door. They have an old Stanley opener that definitely needs replaced. That portion of the call does not fall under her lifetime warranty since the warranty is only for the parts we installed to rebuild the M's door. Our customer service rep. told me that Mrs. M had complained for over 1/2 hour before she was able to tell her someone would return her call. The customer service rep contacted me. I am the owner of Precision Door. I called Mrs. M back and we spoke for quite some time. I tried to explain to her that everything we had done in 2006 was under warranty and I'd be happy to refund the labor charge of $85. Our service call of $55 does not fall under their lifetime warranty. The Member's will never have to pay for parts or labor on any of the work we did in 2006, but will have to pay a $55 service call for us coming back out. This $55 is paid to my technician who has to go out and spend time repairing a warranty door. As a Company, we do not make any further profit on repairs. After considering her complaint, I decided to refund Mrs. M the full $140 (that included the $55 service call). The Member's still have their lifetime warranty on all parts and labor where it pertains to the work we did in 2006 on their garage door, but we never did work on their opener. She stated that another company would be able to sell her an 8550 Liftmaster and a full set of rollers for approximately $450.00. At that point I chose not to counter offer. The Member's have received a full refund. I did attempt to reach out to Mrs. M one last time to let her know I would be sending a full refund - I have yet to hear back from her. Beth Huff

Our torsion spring on our garage door broke and we couldn't get our garage door open. My wife wanted it fixed as soon as possible so she looked in the phone book and came across this company. She called and they told her that they could come the same day. They charge 55.00 for a service call, which is NOT taken off the bill, if you have the work performed. I was at work when my wife called to tell me that the technician wanted to speak with me. Our garage door originally only had one spring and the technician recommended that we have two springs installed. To install back just one heavier spring was 169.00 dollars, plus .5 hours labor at 42.50, and 40.00 for the service call. He recommended two smaller springs at 149.00 a piece, .5 hours labor at 42.50, the service call at 40.00. and he also recommended that the bearing be replaced, all 3, at 48.00, totaling 525.00. He also told me that they have a package that included the above springs, bearings, and new rollers for 599.00. I told my wife that I felt those prices were way to high and that we should call around a get more estimates. She then told me that if we did that we would have to pay the service fee of 40.00 dollars. I said I would just pay the man and send him on his way. My wife did not want to do that as he was already there and didn't want to lose the 40.00 dollars. So I decided to have the two torsion springs installed and the bearing replaced ONLY if they indeed needed it. I even told the technician on the phone that I felt the prices were not fair and that I didn't want the bearing replaced unless they were indeed worn out. The garage is fixed but I would recommend that you call around first and get free estimates from other businesses. This company DOES NOT offer free estimates and as such, I feel as if their prices were way to HIGH. The job comes with a two year warranty on parts. The one PLUS for this company was that they were prompt. They called and asked if they could come early and they arrived on time. They also gave us 15.00 dollars off the service fee of 55.00 dollars down to 40.00.

In reviewing the work our technician had completed on September 25th, it looks like he replaced one spring with two springs, 2 end bearing plates and 1 tap in bearing. At that time a two year warranty was issued. First and foremost, I'm glad we were able to get out to you the day you needed repair. At Precision Door we pride ourselves in being available to customers same-day. We do our best to honor this and being a 24/7 operation helps. It's important that you understand that we will always recommend a two spring set-up over a one spring set-up for better balancing of your door and most importantly safety. Secondly, our pricing we stand behind 100 percent.and it comes down to quality of product, friendly and reliable service, warranty and availability. You may not be aware that there are different spring types and cycles (i.e. 12,000 cycles, 30,000 cycles, 50,000 cycles, etc.) At Precision Door we only install the highest quality hardware and additionally, hardware that's specific for the size and weight of your door. This ensures that you will be receiving the longest lifetime for use out of your hardware. Since our Company has been operating in Columbus since 1999, we can assure you that if you ever have a problem or concern, we'll be out there, no questions asked, to get you back up and running. Having said this, I'm truly sorry you feel our pricing was too expensive. It is Precision Door's hope that during the lifetime of our installed hardware, you will begin to see the difference in product and quality. Thank you, Beth Huff, Owner

This company came highly recommended to us. We called them that morning and the owner, Brent Atwood, was the one who stopped over on his way to work. We were very impressed that even though one spring was bad he saved us an additional service call by replacing the second spring. We had superb customer service with them. He arrived in a timely manner and he is very honest. He exceeded our expectations. He did all safety checks and lubricated the garage door. We were really "wowed" by him. Anyone else that we have spoken to that has used this particular company has all said good things. I have not heard any bad things about him at all. We would recommend him to anyone who needs garage door service.

Great service. Issues from the initial visit on 4/14 were rectified. Asked a technician to come to deal with two issues: 2 remote controls that were not functioning more than 50% of the time and a garage door needing constant adjustment to open and close. The tech arrived on time but since we had jury rigged the door to function the night before by adjusting the eyes several times, he saw no problem. He did notice a broken spring which would be under our warranty. The conversation was unusually difficult as he seemed completely disinterested in helping. I was expecting him to say that the eyes needed to be replaced as well as one of the remotes and the broken spring. I even asked the cost but he kept saying I can't see anything wrong so I don't know what you want me to do. The spring was obviously broken, one of the eyes was damaged, and one of the remotes did not work well, so it felt very clear to me that there were repairs to be made. I did not appreciate his demeanor nor his disinterest in providing service and asked him to leave which he did. I am certain that the problem lies with this individual as our other experiences had been excellent.
Description of Work: No service provided although we had satisfactory experience with a complete overhaul in 2006 and a service call in 2010. Our previous experiences had been outstanding with two other technicians.

Called Precision Door Service after I discovered that our garage door would not open. It went up about 3 inches then returned to ground. I figured it needed a new spring. The person who answered the phone told me they could be out today to fix it and gave me "windows" of time to choose from. I choose "12-2" and Todd (the tech) arrived about 11:45. After inspecting our garage door, Todd told me the system we had could not be repaired. He told me I could call the garage door manufacturer and order a replacement part from them or he could replace the system. (The old system had a bar with everything inside, the new system had the springs on the outside---easily accessible) I opted for the system to be replaced, so that in the future if just a spring broke, then we'd only have to have a new spring replaced. It seemed like the original system was kinda cheesy and I did not want to have to wait 2 weeks if I ordered a part from the garage door manufacturer. Todd needed to go back to the office to pick up some parts needed and returned within 15 minutes and got right to work. Total work time was less than 2 hours. Todd was terrific! He had great attention to detail, was very professional and polite. When finished he explained how important twice a year maintenance was and told me where to purchase, and how to apply the lithium grease twice a year. A job well done! Would use Precision Door Service in the future.
