Description of Work: In years past I had good experiences with this company. However, this time was different. I called for slate roof repairs in the fall and they came out and evaluated the roof and recommended repairs. However, nothing happened despite me contacting them many times over the next 7 months. there were promises to fix it in one to two weeks several times and even a specific good weather date set up to repair the roof but they did not show up. I finally contacted another slate roof repair company.

Description of Work: I have used this company twice. Both times were before I became a member of Angies list. Go figure. The first time the repair was made in 2010 and involved repairs to the flashing around the chimney, slate replacement, and gutter cleaning. From all accounts it was done correctly although I don't go up on the roof. But it appeared to have stopped the leaking. I found the leaking again occurring in 2011 and thus called them back. The chimney was under warranty although I allegedly had over $1000 more repairs that needed completed, bad winter they said. The work included the cleaning of the gutters. This time I had a neighbor watching and I checked the repairs. The neighbor reported that the men came and went in a matter of less than thirty minutes. Upon vistual check nothing and I mean nothing had been done to the gutters. I waited of course to report this to red slate until I got a bill. The bill came and the call went out. The owner as others have reported is always very professional and prompt. He is always willing to come out to the home and do an in person inspection himself. However, that is where the quality of this company ends. I have again encountered leaking on the roof just five months after completion of the repairs. I am not calling red slate but instead going with another compnay. If you get repairs done you MUST check to insure they are done. My recommendation is to be home and watch them do the work. Good luck.

+ -1 moreORIGINALLY THE JOB WAS TO BE DONE FOR $525 PER AN OLD QUOTE. WHEN ASKED IF THE PRICE WAS STILL GOOD HE SAID YES. IT TOOK 3 MONTHS TO GET IT SCHEDULED AND THEN HE TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE $1000, BUT A MORE COMPLETE JOB. IT WAS POORLY DONE AND CERTAINLY THE TIME REQUIRED WASNT WORTH $1000.
Description of Work: TUCKPOINT PARTS OF THE CHIMNEY, FILL IN SOME BROKEN BRICKS AND WATERPROOF. THE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY DID THE WORK (SUB-CONTRACTORS) WERE TIMELY BUT ONLY DID FAIR WORK. STEVEN MAYS WAS TERRIBLE RETURNING CALLS. THE ONLY TIME HE WAS PROMPT WAS WHEN HE WAS COLLECTING THE MONEY. I ALSO ASKED THE PRICES ON OTHER WORK BUT NEVER GOT THEM (THIS WAS BEFORE THE ORIGINAL WORK WAS DONE).
