+ -1 moreMaplewood gives a very detailed assessment, so we knew exactly what they were going to do. There were no surprises. We felt confident that the advice they gave was sound. These are people who give and deserve respect.I was comfortable having them around. In my opinion, Maplewood is exactly what any business ought to be.
Description of Work: I telephoned Maplewood for an estimate,which they could do that day, since they were in the neighborhood. They came, made a very good, very professional impression, and we hired them. We were lucky that they were nearby, so the work was actually done that afternoon. In every way, they were very impressive. I particularly liked their courtesy, their knowledge of trees, etc, and their consideration. Everything was done quickly,well, and with no mess for us to worry about. They took down an entire tree that was diseased, dug out the stump, treated the area, trimmed the rest of the trees in our yard,some bushes, and cleared everything away. What distinguishes Maplewood from other providers in this field is their behavior and their knowledge. We felt they did a great job and would recommend them to anyone. We plan to use them regularly and exclusively in the future.

+ -1 moreThe Maplewood crew located their bucket truck in our driveway and moved a man with a chainsaw to the tree by reaching over a corner of our house. The tree was removed in small sections lowered to the ground by rope, taking care not to damage adjacent trees. They removed all of the debris and even used a leaf blower to clear off our deck and patio furnishings.
Description of Work: We had a very tall, dead, white pine tree located against a decorative fence in our backyard. There was no possible direction to fell the tree; it needed to be removed from the top down.

+ -1 moreWe appreciate Kevin?s efforts on our behalf. He arrived on time, showed professional expertise both in his analysis of the trees and in his comments about the work that would be needed. His estimate, complete with diagram, was comprehensive. In addition, and outside of our current requirements, he gave us suggestions about the treatment of three ash trees which have been attacked by the emerald ash borer. We concluded that Maplewood would also have done an excellent job for us.
Description of Work: Several trees and deadfall on our property required trimming and/or removal. Kevin of Maplewood Tree Service provided us a comprehensive estimate following his July 12, 2010 inspection of the trees. Maplewood’s was one of just two estimates to which we gave serious consideration. The two firms were quite close in perceived quality, expertise and price and neither estimate was necessarily the lowest. We eventually decided to ask the other firm to perform the work although it was difficult to choose between them.

Very concerned about protecting our property and more importantly the safety of their workers. They had a six man crew and dropped the tree, ground the stump, and hauled everything off site in less than 4 hours. Highly recommended on the overall value.

Description of Work: Trimmed deadwood from two large trees and removed ivy from one that had been growing for 10 years. Did an excellent job and cleaned up the yard and hauled away everything. Even cleaned the driveway from all the blowing leaves.

I received a call the next day, appologizing for missing the appt. We reschedule and they were here early. Usually, they give me an estimate on the spot and want to do the work that day. That was convenient for me and the weather was accommodating, so I let them go ahead with the work. I have used this company at least 4 times in the past and have always been totally satisfied with their work and pricing.
Description of Work: Removed large black walnut tree and stump in a planted bed. Cut down two medium to large sized ash trees. Cut down a large branch overhanging front entrance. Removed several small branches that required climbing the trees. Removed four small trees that were either dead or leaning toward the house. Removed a significant amount of grapevine from a large maple tree. Trimmed trees that were overhanging the house.

Second crew failed to remove trunk logs as promised, and also has failed to complete that after three times promising on the phone over the last 4 weeks. + -1 moreThis was a good experience. We thought the cost was a little high, given that the tree was already on the ground and they didn't need to climb into it or use a bucket truck to take it down.
Description of Work: We lost a 45 foot Spruce tree to the February wind storm. Had two estimates from drive-by companies, neither of which was on Angie's List. Called Maplewood, who does lots of work in our neighborhood and has excellent ratings with Angie. Although they said they would arrive within 30 minutes to give us an estimate, it was over two hours before they arrived. However, once we agreed to their price, they were back within a couple of hours, cut up the tree, cleaned up, filled and leveled the huge hole.

+ -1 moreThey did a nice job. Their safety practices leave something to be desired, however, as they neglected to put up the safety cones around their chipper. I thought they would have been more careful, as they had been when we used them previously--our road is narrow and we are on a bus route, so I would have expected them to be more mindful of those safety precautions. They were not wearing safety goggles either this time, unlike the last crew that came out. The job they did was great, though, they came out right away, and the price was great. The next time we use them, I will assure that those safety procedures are taken.

They then quoted the job for $1900.00 and I declined and then they called back that evening and said they will be here the next day and they offered to do the job for a super deal and stated they will do the job for $1160.00 which was the price I had received from the other service provider and we went ahead and settled on the $1160.00 price and a contract was signed. They never showed up to do the job that day and then I called back later and they were unable to come to the phone and have never showed up to this date and have never called.
Description of Work: They dropped off their literature and I called for estimate for removal of tree and 2 tree stumps. They called me back and was giving me a really good deal and I went ahead and had them come over. I dealt with George.

While he was checking out the yard, I checked their Angie's list rating & saw their stellar performance rating. Gave me very reasonable prices for the two trees which I had had estimated over a year ago at probably nearly twice the price that George quoted. They completed the work & hauled an additional small brush pile in nearly 2 1/2 hrs time. I have already recommended them to friends whom are also now pleased with their prices and work performed.

+ -1 moreI called around 8:30am to have a dead tree removed from my yard that had cracked - they called me back within about 15 minutes and asked if they could be at my property in 45 minutes. They showed up in exactly that amount of time and took care of the dead tree as well as trimmed another one. I was impressed mostly with their clean-up, after a huge removal and trimming process - the lawn looked untouched when they left. They even dug up flowers that had been planted around the dead tree and re-planted them. Amazing!

+ -1 moreMaplewood does a lot of work in my neighborhood and they make wise use of their time here by identifying dead trees in resident's yards. They stopped by and gave me an estimate to cut down two dead pine trees, cut them up, remove the debris, and remove the stumps. They gave a fair estimate and I advised them of a lower estimate I got. I was unsure of using the lower estimate since the person submitting it did not appear professionally qualified to do the work. Maplewood said they would do the same work for the same price. I accepted. Less than two hours later, the work was performed completely to my satisfaction. The site was cleaned up and the work was completed.

They gave me an estimate and then performed the work immediately. The work was completed just as they indicated it would be. The best part was their clean-up. You could not even tell that major tree work had been done on my property. They even removed flowers around the small tree and then replanted them. They swept up the driveway and removed all tree-dust from the yard. I was very impressed.
