Lance's Hidden Fencing

We bought a hidden fence system using one of Lance's AngiesList coupons. He was able to have the system installed 3 days later and train 2 days after that. They were amazingly responsive to our questions and even answer the phone much later into the evening (~ 8-9 pm) compared to any of the other companies I tried to contact. Lance was able to discuss the basic concepts of install, configuration, training, etc. all over the phone including basic pricing. This is much better than having to set aside time from your workday to have a rep come out from each of the other fence companies only to find out that you are having a one- or two-thousand dollar conversation. He has an assistant do the install who is very friendly and a good worker. They use a cable burying machine that is very efficient and no- to low-impact on the yard. He was tidy with his interior work and took care to clean up after himself. The whole process only took about 1.5 hours. Then Lance came out this morning and started the training session with our Golden. She responded very well to him and his instruction. He spent almost 2 hours with us and even worked with some passers-by and their pet to use as training. He was very professional and friendly in doing so. At the end of our session I'd venture to say that our pup is at about 75% of the way to full confidence. He left us with a simple training plan to take her to 100% over the next 2 months. I'd recommend his services to anyone in need. Lance definitely has a good thing going!

It went very well and I would highly recommend Lance to anyone needing invisible fence services.

The original install of the electric fence was not in the exact location that I wanted. Lance's company came out and reworked the wire and fixed it with no problem. The install took about 3 hours, my yard had many tree roots and very tough to get their wire cutter through. If your installing a fence under ground I recommend you use your plot plan and identify the best location for the wire. The install was performed and installed in a timely manner and the estimator and Lance always showed up on time for all appointments. They were a very reliable and dependable company. Lance then came out to train the dogs and the dog's owners to use the fence. The training was superior to any training that I'd received from previous fence companies. Both my dogs have had lots of success since the training. He brought lots of experience to training the dogs, and really wanted to spend time to make sure the dogs were totally trained. I would never use any other company than Lances Dog Fence. Lance's techniques for dog training were similar to Cezar Milan-I admire his experience and love for dogs.

The first sales meeting was handled by a nice young man that really embraces the product and talked highly of Lance and his ability. WIth the total package being inexpensive compared to an aluminum or pickett fence, I was looking to understand the workings of an electric fence and what the dog actually felt when he choose to ignore the beep he first receives. I was sold after working through my list of questions. Plus, the electric fence gave my dog more yard to enjoy than an acual fence line would. The fencing and equipment were installed on time and as promised without issue. Lance has a sincere passion for dogs and keeping them safe. The promise is he'll spend at least 2, one hour sessions wtih you and your dog to train everyone involved on the fence and how everything should work . Lance actually spent more than an hour with my puppy both times he was at the house and he truly engaged in a relationship with Nash to ensure the pup trusted him and understood he was to be learning something new. Lance is amazing with his training technique and it ensures the dog is learning so he/she won't receive the electric shock. Lance adjusted the training and the collar size when Nash tested the fence. Lance wanted to ensure Nash was going to be safe in the future. Upon the 2nd training session, Lance noted some things I could do to assist Nash in compliance with the beep he gets before he gets too close to the fence. I am sold on this product but more importantly, this company. I wouldn't look at any other company or product....go with Lance's Hidden Fences. sold o

I called Lance's Hidden Fencing about a week before it was installed. They could have put the fence in earlier but we were having a 2 new patios installed. The Petsafe Invisible Fence wire had to go under the new brick patio. Lance worked well with our patio installer and the fence was installed on or about 11/04/11 by one of his employees. He had a good variety of collars to choose from. He was wonderful with our three large insane dogs and they seemed to pick up the idea that they should stay away from the flags. One of our dogs is very stubborn and smart. She figured out that if she ran real fast through the danger zone that the correction zap would not be too bad. So Lance sent out an employee with their special collar for stubborn dogs. She has not gone through the danger zone since. All in all, I'm happy, the neighbors are happy, and our experience with Lance's Hidden Fencing was wonderful. I highly recommend them and I'd hire them again in a nano second.

Based on reviews from Angie's list, we were confident from the start about using Lance's hidden fencing and our experience didn't disappoint. I submitted the request by e-mail and was responded to promptly. Pricing structure is simple - 850 for angie's list members for a yard under one acre. Installer arrived right on time and was very professional and kind. We discussed the placement. He gave great suggestions, we agreed on size/shape and he went to work. At one point during installation it started to rain. He didn't leave and just plugged on with his work. The rain stopped and allowed him to finish. Lance came later that day and IMMEDIATELY bonded with our dog. (okay, treats help but Lance really knows and loves dogs - and they love him!) In less than 5 minutes, he accurately assessed the personality type of our dog. The training session was wonderful. He used various methods to teach him about the fence, including using his dog - who is the best trained dog in the world by the way. He absolutely didn't skimp on time and made sure he answered every question and gave us every bit of info we would need to continue to work with our dog after he left. He was very careful to make the yard experience a positive one, so the dog would not learn to be afraid of the yard. 'The next week, he came back for his second visit and we had the same experience. Fun, informative, lots of time spent. We know Lance would be willing to return if we were still having problems, but after just these two sessions our dog seems completely trained. It's so fun to watch our dog run around the yard without fear that he's going to take off after another dog or squirrel. You can tell that Lance is not about getting an invisible fence job, he's about getting long term positive results. Communication throughout the project was terrific. Thanks Lance's hidden fencing!

Great service. This was a major "ooops" on our part...While changing a collar battery (which we've done a zillion times!), we managed to break-off a plastic piece. We called. He arrivednice and early the next morning, fixed the problem, and sold us more batteries to have on hand. Again, great service !

I truly wish there was a way to give this company an A Plus rating. We had an initial meeting to review the quote and discuss our house/yard and fence placement. Lance then came back and walked the perimeter with us, reviewing in great detail solutions for a couple of problem areas around the house. He also listened to our concerns about one of our dogs--not just lip service, but truly listened--and made suggestions to address our concerns.Once we decided to hire them to do the job, the actual installation went very smoothly. He also called us to let us know his prior appointment was running long and he would be a little late. He provided an extra training session to ensure that the dogs were really trained well (and that we were, also!) Having the fence has provided a lot of freedom for us and for the dogs--they can just run around in the back yard and we don't worry. But they can also enjoy sitting on the front porch with us. They watch as people walk their dogs on our sidewalk but we have not had any probelms with them trying to run off of the porch. I believe that Lance's training was key to the success of the installation--he is absolutely fabulous with the animals.

We are very happy with the service provided by Lance's Fencing. Lance was wonderful with our dogs. He was very patient with them and gave them lots of positive reinforcement (praise, petting, and treats). He also spent a lot of time with the family -- basically teaching us how to interact with the dogs so that they would quickly pick up the fence training. He created a lot of scenarios to "test" the dogs in what they had learned and he involved the family in doing so. He spent several hours with the dogs for the first training session and then returned for another 2- hour session. This second session was really helpful to one of our 2 dogs who was a bit under the weather and shy during the first session. Lance also ensured the fence itself was to our liking as he was basically activating a fence installed by another company. When we decided that the fence border wasn't in the exact location we wanted, he quickly had it changed. Probably the highest compliment we could pay Lance, however, is that our dogs are doing great with their electric fence! It has been approx. 10 days since their last training session with Lance and they are already "off leash" in our yard. While we still monitor them closely, we are finding that they are consistently staying in our yard, even when there are "temptations" such as dogs barking in other yards, families grilling out, cars going by, etc. We feel as the fence is the key to their having a lot more freedom when outside... it has really improved their quality of life already. Based on the time we spent with Lance, we feel we can highly recommend him. He is passionate about customer service and his love for dogs comes out too.

They came out two months ago and did all that.

Lance is truly wonderful at what he does. He has a love of animals, the patience of Job and the willingness to do whatever is necessary to accomplish his goal. He is always ready, willing and able to accommodate the needs of both dog and owner and his response time has always been good. He did such a good job with her that I have had her over there a couple times since and she absolutely makes no effort to go outside her boundries. This was truly a surprise to me because she definitely has a mind of her own and when it comes to other obedience issues she doesn't do well so I think this makes a hugh statement about Lance's abilities. As long as I have dogs and there continues to be a hidden fence involved, Lance will be the only one I'll look to for guidance and assistance.

Upon purchase of our new house we needed to install an underground fence for our two dogs. The house we purchased had an invisible fence installed in the late 90's. It had not been used for six or more years and was not functioning. I got a price from the original company that installed the fence.(It was MUCH higher). Then called Lance to see what he could do for us. He said that they would try to use the current box, but if it was too old would need to replace it. Then they would check the existing line and see if that would work out, adding line as needed. I needed to buy two new collars. Lance gave me individual prices for each item, if needed. He said we probably did not need dog training since both our dogs had been train at our previous home on this type of fence.He listened to all my concerns and gave me great feedback on my questions. We set up a day for an estimate, and they could do the work right then if we wished to have the fence installed. Ryan, who did our estimate and installation arrived promptly, talked to use about our needs. He the set about giving us an estimate.No pressure was given too accept it right then. We did need to replace the main box, due to it's extreme age, and he found the underground wire to be fine and functioning. Upon accepting the estimate,Ryan proceeded to complete the installation. He also gave us a years worth of batteries for each collar. ALL WENT VERY WELL.!! We then had a functioning system for our pups. We are EXTREMELY PLEASED with everything. Lance and Ryan took care of us like family, being kind , courteous, budget conscious and extremely helpful. They only wanted to sell us what we really needed, and at a GREAT price. We highly recommend this company for anyone wanting to install an underground fence.

Lance arrived on time and immediately went to work marking the fence line with warning flags. When he completed that task, he came into the house, reacquainted himself with the pets that he knew and spent some time getting to know the new dog. He then prepared the pet's collar and adjusted the signal to training level exercising genuine concern that the signal be high enough to get the dog's attention but, at the same time, low enough not to cause undue stress for her. Throughout this period he made sure I understood what he was doing and why. We proceeded to the fenced areas and started to familiarize the dog with the safe areas of the yard and the flags that marked the boundaries of the safe area. Throughout the training, Lance spent a great deal of time providing my dog with verbals cues and encouragement and rewarded positive behavior both verbally and with food treats. In addition, he allowed her plenty of time to relax and "get some loving". As he was working with my dog, Lance provided me with appropriate guidance and instruction so that I not only understood what he was doing and why, but I would be able to continue the training after the session ended. During the training session my sister arrived with her new pet and Lance was able to accommodate a training session for her as well. By the end of the training both animals seemed aware of the boundaries of the "safe zone" and I felt confident about my ability to continue with the training. Throughout the training Lance demonstrated a very caring and thoughtful attitude. He obviously loves what he does and thoroughly enjoys working with dogs and their owners. He is very personable and unhurried. He takes his time and is concerned for everyone's comfort throughout the process. My experience with Lance and his employees has always been very satisfying and gratifying. It has been and is a pleasure doing business with them

This has vastly exceeded my expectations! I got a very large (65 lb) rescue dog from a shelter. We found out within the first few days that the dog was a runner and very prey-driven! The dog seems determined to rid the world of birds! I didn't want him to get hit by a car so when I began researching the possibility of having an invisible fence installed. I spoke with three companies on the phone. I chose Lance's Hidden Fencing because of my conversation with him and the many, many recommendations on Angie's List and elsewhere on the internet. I have a lovely yard with extensive landscaping and I was worried that there would be a trench or something where the wires were installed. Just the opposite! I don't know how they do it, but if it weren't for the dog training flags that they put out, you would not be able to tell where they worked. As a side note: The van that came to the house very closely resembles Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine. My neighbors and I all got a big kick out of that :-) But the really great part comes after the installation when Lance came to do the training with the dog. Lance takes the training part very, very seriously and his love for dogs is evident from the first encounter. Prior to our dog's first training, I thought that the dog would just learn by being taken in and out of the flags and getting a little jolt or whatever. But that's not how Lance does it at all. Actually, his goal is to truly teach the dog using the flags, treats and affection; the fence is sort of a back-up. It's kind of hard to explain how he does it, but it's all in the training, using the fence as the "ooops" and creating positive boundary reinforcements just inside the flags that you constantly show to the dog. For the naysayers who say this is mean to the dog--let your dog spend one hour with Lance and you'll see that it is totally the opposite!! He spends a lot of time bonding with, playing with, and even rolling around on the ground with the dog. As Lance was training me and the dog, he constantly reminded me of the need to positively reinforce, never negative and to never ever betray the dog's trust. For example, if you walk past the flags, you don't call or otherwise try to tempt the dog into that zone, you just walk away and let the dog's training about the flags kick in. And our dog is not necessarily smart or anything, as I said, he was a rescue dog, we have no history on him at all, but in two sessions with Lance he clearly understood his new boundaries. We were fortunate that two sessions was probably all we needed, but when Lance realized that my teenage daughter was out of town for those two sessions and wouldn't be back until the following Saturday, he said that he would feel better if he could come back again to check on Bo's progress and to show my daughter all the techniques that he had already taught me. Wow!! As Lance was leaving us that final Saturday morning, he drove off, was all the way to the end of the block when, unbeknownst to us, he spotted a couple walking their dog and headed our way. He called us on the phone as he came running back to our house and asked if we could get Bo out so he could watch how he did with the massive temptation of us socializing outside Bo's boundaries with another dog. Lance asked the dog-walking couple to participate and orchestrated the experiment with great success! Bo sat inside his boundaries and watched us play with the other dog but did not even attempt to challenge his boundaries. Again, this was after Lance had already left us. He could have kept on driving on that lovely Saturday morning and we would never even have known a thing. But he saw one more great opportunity to teach Bo--and to subsequently give him massive praise and treats!! That's a real commitment to your clients!!!

Everything went great! I would definitely use them again!

Lance was the best. A call to him on Monday brought his guy was out on Friday morning to bury the wiring then Lance was out about noon and went over the installation making necessary adjustments and trained Lily. He was great!

Lance Very generously donated this electric fence, installation and services to a charity fundraiser where we won it in an auction. He treated us as if we were his most important customers. As he really didn't make money from this job, I offered to pay him more and he would not accept it. I called his office the morning of installation and received prompt, pleasant service... Lance immediately came to cover the job (with one employee), without missing a beat after the employee scheduled to install our fence had an emergency that morning. Lance's demeanor is very professional and he didn't stop working - into the evening hours - until it was perfect. His followup training sessions were enjoyable and very informative. Lance is extremely knowledgeable about dog training and seems to have intuitive understanding of dogs. Our dog responded very well and we learned a great deal from him. Lance is conscientious while he excels at and enjoys his business. He's good with people too. ; ) I wish I could find this excellent level of care, competency and service in everything!

We have an 85 lb 1 year old male doberman, Caliber, who is so terrified of thunder, fireworks, and loud noises that it would cause him to run out of our yard and just keep running. He also felt as if the entire world was his playground and enjoyed visiting all of the dogs and kids in the neighborhood. He is our 4th doberman and we've never had to use any type of fencing for our other 3 dobes, so we were quite shocked that we even needed to call Lance. We were very skeptical if an electric fence would even work for him, as his "will" seemed extremely strong, but it was a much cheaper alternative to putting in a true fence that we feared he would just jump over. When we saw all of the positive comments about Lance, we hoped that he would service this area (Mason, OH). We were so excited when I called and they said that they do. We received 3 estimates and Lance was the least expensive and the best to deal with. His response time was amazing and we had an appointment set for installation within one week. The man who came to install the fence was very professional and helpful. He listened to our concerns and provided his feedback and expertise. We couldn't wait for Lance to come a few days later and start the training! When we first met Lance, his love for dogs was so evident that it was heart warming. Caliber immediately fell in love with him! Lance spent so much time with us that first day and Caliber responded amazingly to the fence. We were in complete shock! It was one of the best experiences we've ever had with any sort of training for all of our dogs! We only needed one additional training session because it went so well. Lance never made us feel rushed and listened to every concern and need we had. The electric fence was the best thing we have ever done for Caliber. He only left the yard one time the 2nd day after we had the fence and he has never left it again. Even this morning there were 3 loud noises in our neighborhood and he did not leave the yard. Instead he ran to the door and waited for us to let him in. If we ever move to a new home, we will be calling Lance to install an electric fence. Lance and his team definitely stand out as being in the top three best contractors/businesses we have ever dealt with. They did a good job. They went about and beyond with the training of our dog. They were terrific. They made sure that our dog understood how to use the fence. They also told us how best we could take advantage of the fence.

Lance had installed an invisible fence and trained my dog over 2 years ago. He was excellent and cheaper than the other companies. I called him again after my dog grew and Lance came out ad gave me a bigger collar for me. I have had no problems with the fencing. He comes when you call and he lets you know when he is available. He is very good with the animals and quick to put the fence up. He is so pleasant. I had never dealt with anyone o this field before. I have had several neighbors use him and like him. I just think he is really good. He is good with pets and knows how to train with the fence. He is very patient with the customer and how to continue to train your pet. He came within a day or 2 with a new collar. And his prices are very reasonable.

We needed to get our new puppy, a 4 lb Maltese, trained and hooked up on our invisible fence. I was worried that she was too small, but Lance put a cat collar on her and spent time training her. She did great. Lance can work with all sizes and breeds. It is truly a joy to find a company that has competitive pricing, wonderful customer service and top notch training.

We were considering getting a fence for our dog. We have a Newfoundland (about 130 lbs of love) and were concerned about using an electric fence for her. Our neighbors have two big dogs and used Lance's and loved them. We decided to give them a try. Our experience was beyond pleasant. After speaking to the sales representative, our concerns were laid to rest. We got a free estimate, then when we decided to go with Lances, they installed the fence within days of our decision. We expected Jared to work with the dog once or twice to teach her and us about the fence, because our dog was a little skittish with the borders. She just wanted to stay on the porch. Jared came four times to make sure our dog and we were comfortable with the system. He stayed about an hour each time, never seeming in a rush and answering all our question. He made Dory comfortable enough to use our whole yard. He even brought his own dogs to help test her to make sure she was calm but secure in our yard. We really enjoyed working with Jared. He is the epitome of customer service. He was timely and attentive. He cared deeply that the product was installed correctly and efficiently. He followed up every step of the way. And, he is extremely personable -- we and Dory loved him. We can't recommend this company enough!

All went fantastically ! Lance is a true professional start to finish! I feel very confident that the hidden fence and the training we received will properly keep my dog well within the boundaries needed. I have used Lance before and he was also very good about coming back to make boundary adjustments and further correction and training when we have gotten a new dog. We had a dog that was very difficult, head strong and wanted to run. With Lance's help and training we were successful in containing the dog in our yard.
