They were really good and they did everything. He was great and explained everything totally and completely. I would definitely use him again.

Ken is very personable and proficient. I do feel, however, like his office staff is sloppy with their work. A confirmation email was never sent (as promised), a radon test was inadvertently canceled and had to be rescheduled, the email with our final home report had a completely different home address listed and the actual report had a close (but wrong) street name. These small things add up to undermine the quality expected. I do thank Ken for dealing with an unexpected problem (with the radon test) with integrity and professionalism.

Mr. Harrington showed up on time and introduced himself and began a very throrough external inspection of the house. I followed him as he made his inspection. He explained everything that he did and continually encouraged me to ask questions. In addition to pointing out potential problems, he would also explain the cause of the problem, and preventative measures that should be taken in the future to prevent the problem from reoccuring. The final report included digital photographs and was was very detailed. I would absolutely use his services again if the opportunity arises.

I cannot say enough good things about Ken and Kustom Home Inspection. He is very timely with communication and email, his prices are more than fair, and the job that he Paul did with respect to the general home inspection and termite and radon detection was top-notch. The inspection took about 2-3 hours and they assessed every little nook and cranny of the house. Afterward, they said they would have the report to us by the next morning (which I thought was a pretty quick turn-around), and they actually got us the 26 page report later that day, inclusive of the details of their inspection, recommendations on how to proceed, and pictures. Although there was nothing major wrong with the house we are going to buy, Kustom's home inspection provided us with some areas in which we could make our new home safer and more sound for our family. I would highly recommend Ken. He said he inspects very home as if he were inspecting it for his child and he spent a lot of time inspecting the home. He also was very prompt in sending the report to me.

They were A++. He showed up early, took his time, brought an extra guy with him so it wouldn't take as long. Explained everything to me. He helped me avoid buying a property with $20,000+ worth of hidden repairs.

I emailed Ken about our specific concerns. He was quick to get back to me and we set up the appointment. They were prompt and thorough. There was two areas that we were very concerned about. One was our basement cinderblocks being wet which they tested with a moisture meter. The second was that our Hardiplank siding was installed incorrectly. Everything went very very well and our report was thorough. We did get a basement professional (A rating on Angie's) to come out and eval the basement. They did confirm that there was moisture in the basement however said this was completely normal and that the cinderblocks do indeed help drain water and that by code there are drain holes inside them that lead into the sump pit. He was a bit confused why a moisture meter was used as he said running water or standing water on walls and floors is abnormal, but wet blotches on the cinderblocks simply indicate that water has been inside the blocks and again was normal. We still aren't completely sure who is right or wrong on this one, but most people we've talked to say their basement cinderblocks shows a blotch or two after heavy rains. The second concern was the Hardieplank. We also had this evaluated by a Hardie representative who stated that as their manufacturing process changes so too does their install instruction and our planks was installed correctly for the year it was made. Overall I was very pleased with the work they did. The price was competitive, not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I had to be completely fair and not give a perfect since we were given quite a bit of concern over the moisture in the basement, but after an independent inspection was told this is normal drainage. I prefer that they are over-cautious and would use them again for a new home or even a build for stage inspections.

I called on Thursday and because of the July 4th weekend, I was hoping to get someone in the next day to do the inspection. Of all the companies I called, none of them were available until the following Tuesday. Ken Harrington was also unavailable, but he moved around his schedule so he could acommodate us. He was early to our appointment, he was very professional and took the time to explain everything to us. He never seemed rushed and he was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him!

Ken is by far the best Home Inspector I've encountered. His knowledge and personal experience appears to be a real rarity in this industry. He pointed out many items that appeared as cosmetic, i.e. low dirt grade, holes in siding, but could create serious problems if not remedied. Ken is very honest and will you tell you exactly what his concerns are. Most important, he will allow you to make your own decisions with the information he has provided. As an added bonus, he provided me with a great home owners manual that contains descriptions of all the major components and how to maintain all of them. Finally, I also liked the fact that I was able to email him with additional follow-up questions AND he responded within one business day! I will use Ken for all my inspections needs.

Ken was able to accommodate the schedule which required some juggling on his part. He was very cooperative and helpful.

He was very thorough. I was very impressed with his process, it was painless.

Paul was our inspector and he was great. He explained the inspection criteria, encouraged me to follow him around on the inspection, and answered my questions thoroughly. He pointed out areas that needed attention and, because he couldn't complete the inspection because the gas needed to be turned on at the house, he returned to inspect the furnace and finish the inspection two days later after the gas was turned on. Didn't cost us extra, either. Filed the report with me the next day and promptly answered follow up questions. His inspection (and our great broker) enabled us to counter offer and buy the house for $20,000 under the asking price.

He was very informative and gave some good advice on landscaping.

Ken does an amazingly through job at home inspections. This is the second home we've used Kustom for and they have done an amazing job both times!

The company was prompt in returning my call - which was just for general information on home inspections. They were so helpful in answering my question that I scheduled them to do an inspection for me on a house I was thinking of buying. Something came up about a week before the inspection, that caused me to stop pursuing that property. I called Kustom Home right away to cancel my inspection - a little worried at their possible reaction. They just could not have been nicer about it. They didn't give me a hard time at all. I will definitely use them for an inspection, once I find the house I'm looking for.

He arrived early and started the inspection of the exterior. He then moved into the interior. The inspection took approximately 2.5 hours. He inspected all the rooms. He inspected as much as he was able of the attic. He also explained the operation of some of the newer features of our furnace, hot water heater and other mechanicals. Paul provided useful safety tips and found several minor issues that we are in the process of having corrected. The report provided was very useful to both us and the builder. The report contained both written comments and pictures which showed where the defects were located. The only criticism I have is that his comment "normal cosmetic damage and settlement cracks noted" under the general condition (walls and ceilings) was too general. It would have been very helpful if he described and listed the areas where they were located.

My experience with this company was wonderful from start to finish. They were very responsive and accommodating. They were able to provide me with a next day appointment. When I arrived at the house Paul, the inspector, had arrived early, already gone up and inspected the roof and had begun inspecting the house. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (which were many since this is the first home I've purchased). He provided a detailed report the next day including colored photos. Overall I think he did a great job and I definitely got my money's worth.

Paul did our home inspection and was great. This is our first home purchase and he took the time to explain anything and everything that I needed clarification on. He beat me to the house and and was VERY through. The follow-up report was very detailed and provided all the information we needed.

I was very impressed with the home inspector, he knew his business particularly with the age of the house being inspected. Gave us very important information about the water well and electrical systems. He took alot of pictures of concerned areas and the following day we had a 32 page, very professional brochure in our e-mail account. Money well spent!

Ken was at the site when I arrived. He and Paul spent about three hours going through every inch of the house with me. They were very thurough and were willing to answer all my questions. They were willing to tell me which items I could resonably take care of myself (and gave me advice on those items) and which items would be better handled by a professional. They sent me a 29 page report with lots of pictures to back up all claim within 24 hours of the inspection (excluding the the radon test results since the test requirement specifies a 48 hour minimum test period).

I emailed a request for a quote to Kustom Home Inspectors on 6/25. Ken replied on 6/26 with a few questions needed to quote accurately. We booked the inspection for Tuesday 6/30. He let me know it would take 3-4 hours. Ken was very thorough, professional and informative. He let us know where he saw issues of immediate importance and others that could be put on a "to do list". He brought all the tools and equipment needed to do the job. The complete report including digital photos with arrows and subtitles was emailed to us that same evening! (we did not leave the house until after 5 so I thought this was great) He also gave me the Homeowners Handbook. Ken answered my questions with patience and knowledge. He never hurried us along. I am very happy with Kustom Home Inspection and will use them agian.

We're out of town and have a house in Columbus that recently had a new roof installed. We needed Ken to serve as our eyes in our absence. He was extremely responsive -- I reached him right away by phone and he was able to visit the house the next day. That afternoon, I had the full report emailed to me. It couldn't have been easier...and the peace of mind we received was well worth the money!

Kustom Home Inspection was very responsive from the beginning. I spoke with Ken Harrington on the phone and he coordinated the inspection through my realtor. Ken showed up a bit early for the inspection and had already began inspecting the outside of the house. I accompanied him during the inspection and he explained everything that he was evaluating. It was a very educational experience. Ken's inspection was very thorough as he was not afraid to climb up on the roof or into the attic. He had the proper equipment to perform the inspection, including an IR thermometer and moisture meter. He pointed out the good points of this 75 year old house as well as the problems. The report was thorough and contained many digital photos that showed the areas in question. The report was received via email the same day as the inspection. Overall it was a good experience. and I will use them and recommend them as well.
