+ -1 moreWe redid our small 1/2 bath, and chose to replace the original cultured marble/plastic sink top with a granite slab, serving as a base for a glass bowl (vessel) sink. We chose the granite from the large assortment of remnants on the Konkus lot, and a Konkus employee came to our home for an exact measure. A template was made for the slab, and I took my vessel sink to Konkus for exact placement of drilling holes. On installation day, Konkus removed my old sink top, and installed the granite on top of the original wood cabinet base, which I had refinished. The job was done beautifully. All of the employees we dealt with (salespeople, cutters, installers, and even the owner) were professional, friendly, and easy to work with. When re-doing a small surface, a granite remnant is the way to go- great quality and a lower price.
Description of Work: Salesman searched with us on lot for a granite remnant, answering many questions. Once selected, granite slab cut to specifications, holes drilled for plumbing. Old sink top removed, new granite installed.

Description of Work: I was in graduate school, preparing to get married, fixing up an old house (for which my new bride and i were to live in) and working a couple of jobs. Needless to say I was a mess and tired of dealing with contractors, suppliers, and people in general. (That was in 2005) Then the people at Konkus came in and changed my thinking and attitude. Within one day I had an estimate number, my sinks selected (which they offer), my granite colors picked (from their stock inventory which is very nice) and a date for a template (which amazingly enough was just a little later that week). The templator was on time, took time to explain things, asked questions about specific details (I never would have thought of), and just all around seemed interested in getting the job right. And when I say "right" I do not mean "done and installed." I mean, "right" with the corners finished the way I wanted, and the faucet holes placed where I (and my then fiance) wanted them, and certain that all details were in place. I was busy with so much stuff, that I made special arrangements to just have the guys let themselves into my house to install. I am normally against that as a practice, but WOW!!! What a way to come home. The tops looked amazing--and what was even better was that you could tell that the installers really took their time and were clean, patient, and thoughtful. Anywho, it was a stressful time in my life and I was thankful to find a company who was so easy to work with. It made a huge impression on myself, and then fiance (now wife). I have since used them for some smaller pieces around my personal home (the boneyard is a treasure chest of good deals), and a couple other big projects on other properties i have owned. The last time i used them was 2010 for a kitchen and two bathrooms and the experience was just as nice as the first time!!!!! I can't wait to be in a position to work with them again.

+ 0 moreThey were excellent. When I called, I had previously called the original supplier of my marble provider and they wouldn't give me an idea of price over the phone. So I called Konkus and I needed a two centimeter thickness rather than three and they went out in the bone yard and found some pieces for me. They had me come in and confirm that is what I needed and we made a deal. They let me select from the pieces in the remnants and they were just extremely helpful. They gave me good information over the phone to make sure it was worthwhile having me come out there. I would recommend them and already have!
Description of Work: They provided the granite for my fireplace surround tear out job. They also did the measuring, cutting, and installation.

From the initial visit to their showroom, to the measurement of my old kitchen cabinets /visit for the template layout on the granite slab, to the final installation. Everyone is prompt and very professional. The initial measurements are the key to success , if the old countertops are not measured correctly then nothing will fit (my new ones fit perfect)
Description of Work: I had new granite kitchen countertops installed. Both Robert and Tim in Sales with Konkus were very helpful with granite color suggestions and tips. Bring as many color samples to Konkus or the granite wholesale warehouse (StoneMart) such as a cabinet door , paint color strip to assist with picking out your granite color. I statred with this project in late january and the new countertops were install Feb 24th

+ 0 moreThe Konkus Marble & Granite staff were friendly, informative, on-time, and did good work. My total cost with them was lower than with two other companies that I got estimates from. I took my rough counter measurements when we visited their store to get an estimate. I asked if they had remnant granite stones that they could sell at a lower cost. They showed me their stock and I found a remnant I liked for a cost savings of around $300. Konkus scheduled a staff member to come to my house to do an exact measurement for a template. We returned to their store to review their plans. Konkus then scheduled an installation date for the counter tops (& sink) (3 hours) and another installation date for the backsplash (3 hours). The plumbing work was done on the same day after the counter tops were installed. John Konkus did the plumbing work and is a separate business from Konkus Marble & Granite. John Konkus' son is the owner of Konkus Marble & Granite. I hired John because of his close association & coordination with Konkus Marble & Granite. He was friendly and did a good job.
Description of Work: Tear out & dispose my old counter top ($162). Furnish & install 3 cm granite counter top (33.9 sq ft, $1,526) and 4" backsplash (6.7 sq ft, $302); cut hole in granite counter top for undermount sink ($200); furnish & apply 15 yr stone sealer (no charge). Note that the above costs did not include the following which I bought from the following: Ferguson Enterprises, Blanco Silgranit sink plus misc ($471), Home Depot, Delta faucet ($243), Lowes, Insinkerator disposal plus hose ($224), plumber to reconnect plumbing plus misc ($260). My total cost to complete everything was $3,387.

+ 0 moreProcess was time consuming. Had a salesman out to give us estimate. Went to showroom to select piece of granite. Someone came to the house to laser measure for the countertop. Went back to showroom to select where the cut-outs would be on the piece of granite I selected. Then installation took place. The installers during the removal of the old backsplash made a hole in my drywall which was not a big deal for me to fix. Also, it was noted by the installer that the sink hole was not cut out centered to the countertop (was off by about 1 inch). They offered to start all over again since it was their fault or we could use the piece they cut and would give us a discount on the job. After looking at the hole placement it was obvious to me no one would notice it unless they looked real close at it. I opted to accept the piece they cut and they gave me a nice discount for their error. No one who has been over to see the new countertop has noticed the 1 inch difference. The installation was quick and the installers were very nice and cleaned up afterwards. The new countertop makes the kitchen look so much nicer. Even though there were a few problems mistakes do happen and I was very pleased with their response to their errors and it did not subtract from my feelings about the company. This company did such a good job I plan next year on having them install a new countertop in the master bathroom.

After making our selectio Konkus workers came to our house took all necessary measurements, gave us an estimated to time of delivery, and delivered the counter tops, installed them and the sink, and left the kitchen clean and in good order. We were very satisfied.

+ 1 moreI have been a customer of Konkus in the past at a different residence, and was very happy with the work and professionalism displayed from start to finish for the whole process. The granite at the new residence was a very beautiful and somewhat rare emerald green granite in the kitchen and fireplace surround, and the island is a somewhat unusual stone called Metallicus. The job was a bit expensive because the stone was pricey from a wholesale standpoint, but I did not want the "standard", average, inexpensive stuff that you see in so many places to save a buck or two. Very interesting stone simply costs more, but to me it is worth it to have something unusual and visually impressive. Granite isn't something you do every day, so I decided to splurge a bit. I couldn't be happier. Mark Konkus, the owner, is a very involved guy. He's there every day and happy to speak with you directly about anything. His salespeople are very knowledgeable and not on commission, so you don't get that annoying "used car salesman" attitude that is common at so many other places, where they just want to sell you whatever makes them the most money. Konkus is not the cheapest place to buy granite, but it is not the most expensive either. The pricing is always fair, but for a little bit more money than the cheapest place in town, you always receive the most professional, highest quality workmanship, and best customer service in town. Do yourself a favor and don't try to find the cheapest in town. Spend about 10% more and go with the best. You will not be sorry. I recommended Konkus to one of my neighbors recently, and she is set to have an install done in about a week. She has been very happy with the experience and price thus far as well. Maybe will post back after her job is done.
Description of Work: Granite countertops for the kitchen installed and a large island countertop between the kitchen and living room installed. A fireplace surround and hearth in granite was also fabricated and installed in the living room.

+ 0 moreKonkus was a great experience. We met with Mark at their Hilliard location and he showed us all of the different granite offerings with absolutely no pressure. He even had a forklift operator come out and move stacked granite slabs so we could see other options of the same "design". Konkus provided an estimate on removing the old countertops, installing the new countertops and sealing. I provided a sketch on approximate measurements which Konkus provided an estimate. After they measured with their high tech equipment, the estimate price did not change. Installation was conducted quickly with limited interruption. We were very happy with Konkus and would recommend them as well as use them in the future.
Description of Work: Konkus Marble removed our old laminate countertops and installed beautiful coffee brown granite. In addition, they installed our undermount, granite composite sink (purchased from Lowes). Note for sink installation, plumbing hook up is not included (which is standard)
