We went to Konkus to pick out granite and were shown around their stock. When we finally decided on the colors we liked - they suggested we go over to another warehouse and look there too - just to make sure. We picked something there and the two companies arranged the pick-up. (I would not suggest using that company.) We were put through a series of appointments - choosing a sink, installation date, and checking the layout. On the day of installation, they arrived on time and got right to work. Kitchen was a mess and there was an odor but all in all it seemed to go smoothly. We had them do the "standard" four inch backsplash with the same granite. The only glitch was that they didn't tell us we'd need new piping for the sink so that set us back with re-scheduling the plumber. We were without water longer than expected. About a month ago, I noticed that the caulking between the countertop and the backsplash was disappearing - and there were gaps along the seam line where the two pieces of granite met. We called Konkus and they suggested that our cupboards were sagging causing the gap. (We knew this wasn't the case.) Three installation men showed up a few days later and seemed shocked at the job that had been done. It took them a few hours to fix the problems - and it had nothing to do with "sinking" cupboards. Kudos to Kyle, Tim and Justin for their time. They apologized for the (terrible) job that had been done. Since we were unprepared for the new work to be done - we had not removed drawers, pots and pans, etc...so there was some clean up to do (again). The odor subsided by the next day. I hope that the original installers were reprimanded but so far no word from Konkus.

Good experience. We walked around their large yard of slabs and found a beautiful piece of marble. We then chose a sink size we wanted and had Konkus get in touch with our contractor/renovator. Konkus came out about two weeks later to do the measurements, and a week after that, they came out again to make the installation. It's beautiful.

Konkus was great to work with - the sales staff are friendly and helpful, they have a really good selection. The workers were prompt and polite and did a great job. We had a question about how something turned out, and they came right back later that day to check it out just in case something needed fixed (it didn't).

Wife and I visited the Konkus company to look at possible materials for new countertops in kitchen. We were interested in quartz and they had a nice large selection of Cambria Quartz. They were very helpful and answered all of our questions. We decided on what we wanted, put down a downpayment and were told we would be visited by an employee to take mesurments. That happen within a few days. Within two weeks we were contacted to agree to a day for installation. The whole process took about a month. Installation workers were prompt, courteous and professional. We are very happy with our new counter top.

I shopped all over the Columbus area for a granite fabricator, and was impressed with the service and employees at Konkus Granite from the very beginning. They are extremely professional and it seemed as if they knew every aspect of the granite business very well. They were patient and always had the answer to any question I had. The installation went very well. Bill and Justin showed up right on time and were such nice guys. They were dressed in a very professional manner which makes you think that they really do care about the 1st impression they make on the customer. All the work done was very impressive and they worked very well together. I never felt like they were rushing through the job just to get out in as little time as possible. When they were finished they had me inspect the job. They cleaned up the work area, leaving no sign that they were there except for those FABULOUS new countertops! I was completely satisfied with my experience with Konkus Granite and would recommend them to my friends.

We picked 3 top rated granite installers from Angie's list to contact regarding a kitchen remodel. To test each one, I called them, then faxed over dimensional drawings. I was checking for knowledge, responsiveness and professionalism as well as pricing. How they responded would tell me how likely I'd have to babysit everything if I hired them. The rep at Konkus was very pleasant and seemed knowledgeable. He said I could fax over a drawing for a quote and I didn't have to make it out to anyone's attention. My name and phone number were on it as well as all dimensions and specifications. It's been over a month and I haven't received a return call or a quote. We're home most of the time and check our answering machine whenever it shows there's a message. One of the other installers called back with a quote the next day and the second one called back with a quote in a week. Over a month later, Konkus hasn't called. I could easily have followed up after a week but that would defeat the purpose of my test. I wasn't interested in going with someone I had to start following up with from the very beginning. Remodels have enough problems without hiring someone you're going to have to keep checking on. The potential consequences of a screw-up on granite are pretty major. A number of Angie's list customers apparently got their quotes and everything worked out fine. Not so for us.

We had a BAD experience with Allstate Granite (Joe Moore) with unlevel pieces, poorly fitted tops, super jagged cuts and unpolished edges. (And after putting this in our kitchen, Joe fell off the face of the earth.) Everyone at Konkus was wonderful - taking extra care because we were more than a little gun-shy after our brand new counters had to be replaced. From the sales experience to templating to removal and installation, everyone was professional, helpful and took great care of us. I found Konkus' prices to be very reasonable and everyone's dedication to the customer was superior. Konkus showed us the difference in working with the pros - laser templating, fabrication with wet cuts at their location (vs. pre-fabbed tops cut by two guys and a truck in our driveway), installation with proper tools to assure thin, level seams and great communication every step of the way. We will definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

We first met Tim, the estimator, at the Home and Garden Show. He was very nice but honestly, hard to get in touch with for follow up. I was then transferred to Nicole, another rep, and from that point, things went much more smoothly. After laser templating and selecting our slab, Konkus scheduled a time for us to actually lay the vinyl template on our slab to make sure that we were happy (I really liked this added step). Installation went pretty smoothly, although we did have a little issue with the silicone on the sink, which Konkus eventually remedied (they made an error on the scheduling, hence the B rating for punctuality). I like thta Konkus reinforces the sink with steel rebar for additional support and felt that they did a great job on handpainting and miminizing the appearance of the seam. All in all, we are quite pleased.
Description of Work: Konkus tore out existing laminate countertop and installed 35+ sq feet of granite countertop with a pencil edge. They also installed a new double bowl stainless steel sink. All plumbing was handled by a plumber suggested by and loosely coordinated by Konkus.

Everything from beginning to end was awesome! They get a "10". Rob helped me choose the right granite for my kitchen by recommending that I bring a piece of my kitchen flooring & a drawer from my kitchen cabinets to help in the granite selection. At the measurement appointment, they measured my countertop accurately with high tech equipment. At the layout appointment, the clear template of my countertop allowed me to see what the granite top would look like before they cut it. On installation day, they called that morning to say they were on their way & their installation was great. At each step, Konkus called & made appointments, showed up on time & followed through with professionalism. Highly satisfied!
Description of Work: I purchased granite for a kitchen countertop. The Konkus staff is very knowledgeable, experienced & courteous. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Each person I worked with for each stage of the process was very professional from helping me choose the right granite for my kitchen, measuring the countertop with high tech equipment, making a template and scheduling an appointment for me to see the template on top of the granite before cutting, & installation of the countertop & sink. On installation day, Mike & Chris removed & disposed of my 43 year old countertop. They protected my flooring with cloths during the installation & cleaned up after they completed the job. Mike explained thoroughly how to care for the granite top & asked if I had any questions. The countertop is beautiful & I am extremely happy with the results!! John Konkus, the plumber came later in the day & installed the new faucet & completed the plumbing for the sink. He was very professional & did a great job as well. It was a pleasure working with all them. Konkus is a GREAT company!!!! I will definitely use them again when the need arises.

Everyone we worked with at Konkus is a professional. Starting with the initial sales team who worked with us in defining want we wanted and our budget. They were in contact with us with both phone and email as we worked through what we wanted. We then had a Konkus employee come out to our house to laser measure our existing counter tops and take pictures. He worked with us to design minor changes that could be made to our future counter tops. We then met with another Konkus employee who worked with us to design how the various counter top and back splash components would be cut from the slab. Pointing out how we should keep the grain of all the pieces running in the same direction. Last step was for the Konkus install employees to assemble the pieces in our kitchen. I took the day off, which was good. They did have some additional questions during installation to ensure the install was perfect. If one is going to invest in granite, it makes sense to invest in the professionals at Konkus. I would certainly use Konkus again.

The story in box 1 pretty well sums it up
Description of Work: All the folks from Konkus were great, from the estimator to the prep work, to the installers. Total professionals who treated me like I was their only customer. The installation of the granite countertops were perfect, and when the guys left, we could have had a party when they walked out the door, they were that meticulous about cleaning up. I have recommended them to a number of folks, and in fact, one neighbor had them re-do his kitchen just last month. He is as happy as I was with the results, but I will let him tell you about that.

We found Konkus through Angie's List. Sure enough this company lives up to its "A" rating. Our experience with them has been excellent from start to finish, from our initial visit to look at granite samples, to finalizing the sale (the salesman put no pressure at all unlike the other company we visited), to scheduling, to measuring (Jed took the time to explain how laser templating works as he was doing it), to our visit to look at the template where they show how the granite will be cut and where the sinks/faucets will be placed, to the actual installation. Everyone we dealt with was professional and helpful. Finding a company like Konkus is the reason why we continue to rely on Angie's List.

The process from start to finish was excellent! We went on a Saturday to pick out our granite and were called in a few days to schedule measuring. Once it was measured, I received another call a few days later to view the layout of the template. On the day of the install, the two guys that came out were wonderful. They were extremely professional and considerate of my house. I wish I could remember their names. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure the granite was cleaned even though there was still construction going on in my basement. Overall, the process from selection to install took a couple of weeks, which probably would have taken less time if my cabinets had been installed sooner. I plan to use Konkus again when we are ready to replace the counters in our other bathrooms. Thank you for a very pleasant experience!

The slab selection process was pretty quick for us, partly because we went to their location to pick it out on a very cold, windy morning. A slight drawback is that the slabs are on display outside - I've visited another granite company that had them in an indoor warehouse, which was more conducive to browsing. But they had a good selection and we were able to pick a slab that we were happy with. The technicians who came to our house for measurements and installation were all very prompt and professional. They did excellent work, and the countertops are just gorgeous. We're very satisfied.
Description of Work: We purchased new granite countertops for our kitchen, to fit new cabinets that we bought from Palmer-Donavin. The initial order was placed through the cabinet company, but we went to Konkus' location to select the granite slab, and they came out to our house to take measurements, and then again to install the countertops.

I cannot believe the professional work they did. They removed all of the old countertops. They brought out laser beams to make sure all new measurements were accurate. They brought us samples and had us pick out what we wanted as well as invited us out to their location to see the layout and to ask for our approval. I would defy you to come here and find the seams. I still keep looking and cannot see where the seams come together. Absolutely no mess, no fuss, just wonderful! I have also recommend them to friends.

For a "newbie" to the granite industry, this was a seamless process! Konkus makes it so easy and I learned a lot along the way. Everyone was very helpful, very patient and very friendly. Konkus was great to work with to pick out a granite remnant to use. They had a great selection. It was easy to schedule a measurement. The problem we had was with the install. They installed the granite and when our contractor viewed the granite he noticed that the faucets were drilled off center for one of the sinks. Konkus was quick to come out to view the issue and then we had to have the countertop pulled. They did not have any more of that same remnant so we had to pick another similar piece. They had the piece drilled and installed the same day. We had an issue with the second install since the backsplash was too thick for us to be able to install faucets that had enough room to turn so they came out again when called to view the situation. They had to pull the backsplash and sidesplashes to thin them so we could install the faucets and spout properly. Third time was a charm since the countertop looks great.

Very professional and courteous. Have clear templates of your counters on granite slabs before cutting. This allows you to pick the best layout of the grain and character of the granite. Custom built corner shelf on premises. They had to come back to grind clearance for the stove. This was not their fault. The dimensions from the stove manufacturer were not correct. I could not find one speck of dust afterward. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Each time I visited Konkus Marble and Granite the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were on time for the measuring appointment and for the installation appointment. The distributor sent two slabs under our name to Konkus. When I went for the layout appointment they let me view both slabs and decide which one I liked the best. The guy that did the layout had a great eye for the "pattern matching" for the corner seam. You can barely tell there is a seam! The installers did a nice job and they cleaned up when they were finished.

We visited Konkus on the advice of our contractor to look for a remnant. The salesman was very helpful. Most of the remnants were too small and hard to see considering there were so many. The salesman explained that during the week they can easily move pieces around, but on Saturdays they cannot. We saw a regularly priced piece we liked, but it was promised already. They agreed to let us have any leftover piece at the home show price that they sold the large piece for if there was a leftover piece. We were contacted several weeks later and we got it at a remnant price, which was even cheaper. The installation went very smoothly.
