Joe answered my call early in the morning after a fallen limb knocked down the power lines that service our house. Larry arrived later that morning and temporarily reattached the wires to make them safe so we would not lose power to our sump pump (heavy rain would have flooded our basement). Larry came back the next morning to complete the permanent repairs - a very professional and quick job.
Description of Work: Replaced downed external electrical power wires from meter box and reattached riser to house.

What upset me was that they sent out two electricians. In the middle of talking with them, one of them told me that their service was $70.00 each, which would make $140.00 per hour for them to be there. They were pleasant and professional, but I just wasn't happy that I was charged for each of them being there at $70.00 an hour. I did contact the owner to express my frustrations.
Description of Work: I was having problems with the lights in my bathroom blinking and not being at full capacity. I thought that it was the wiring, but they advised that I had the wrong types of lights. They examined a few things after my inquires, but didn't really fix anything major. They did change a few light-bulbs and repaired a light socket.

He was extremely nice when I talked to him on the phone. He was going to come out Monday if I really needed him, but since I am going to change the alarms myself, I don't need him to come out. He did not charge me for the information and I greatly appreciated that. He was also very kind and understanding.
Description of Work: I have a problem with my alarms that keep going off, and when I talked to him, he informed me that I will just need to change all my alarms.

I had an appointment for today between 8am-9am. It's now 9:25 am. No one has shown up, and no one answers their phone. I have been leaving messages for half an hour asking for a call back to tell me if they are coming. Today is a holiday (King Day), but I had specifically asked the person who made the appointment for me last week if they were working on King Day, and he said, of course. So, that should not be the problem. Also, the phone # does not ring to a business voice mail--just a robotic voice saying "please leave a message," so you can't even tell if you got the right place. A business does well to have a business voice mail for customers.

Overall, pleased with the work. Extremely disappointed with the price...and certainly the customer service AFTER the job. To the company's credit, I called in the morning and they were out that same afternoon. What they didn't mention is that they were sending 2 men. In the end, the job took 90 minutes and I was charged for 3 man hours at their hourly rate. What's further disappointing is the first part of the job (breaker replacement) was done within 20 minutes. While one guy replaced the breaker, the other guy was checking on the outlet problem. (It was not a basic fix. Cutting into the wall was required. I understood that would increase my costs). My DISBELIEF is that they'd still charge me fully for 2 men while it was ONE guy doing the work. I watched 90% of this job being done, and it was only ONE guy doing the cutting of the wall & converting a one-outlet situation to 2 outlets. The other guy was pretty much just supervising...almost like a training in progress. Long story short, as soon as the guys left, I called the owner to express concern about the labor cost. I prefaced it by saying I was PLEASED with the work they did in order to stress I was COMPLEMENTING the service. He said he would not deposit my check until after he'd spoken with his guys Monday and would then get back to me. Well, I didn't hear back from him Monday. Left a voice mail for him Tuesday (still no response). And I decided to call him again Wednesday because my check had already been deposited. Ouch! No call back, but the check's been cashed? That's pretty insulting. Plus, when I called the owner Wednesday, he was extremely defensive & condescending. He wouldn't even "hear me" when I said I wasn't displeased with the work but that I had an issue with the cost. He was using expressions like, "well, since you know how much this job should cost..." and "go ahead and give me that F on Angie's List." Funny, I was trying to avoid that. The customer service by the owner at the start was great. At the end, simply awful. I even tried to explain during the course of our "fun chat" that I didn't contract his company to give him a bad report. I had used them before. That's why I called back. He still wasn't getting it. He couldn't even take a compliment that I was pleased with the work. Just a sad end to what could've been a pretty okay result. Never using this company again. If someone asked me, though, I'd be sincerely honest and say they do decent work...just some other issues going on. Learn some customer service skills, please.

For the most part the above is true, member did call about the billing and I checked with my men the following morning and got a very different story from both men. I was assured the amount billed was justified and accordingly put the check in my daily deposit. I also did forget to call her back and am definately at fault on that account. When she called me, I informed her we would not be adjusting the billing and was informed by her exactly how long the job should have taken and what was involved and yes, at that point I did become rather irritated. She acknowledges the job was well done and I feel confident the price was fair. When she threatened to report an F if I did not relent, our conversation was basically over. It would have been much easier to refund her a portion of the bill but I don"t think that would be any more right than if I had done a bad job and billed for that. I stand by my work and try to be as fair as possible.

I have used him before and he did a good job. I called him up to offer him a job. I asked for his comments on how he might do the job I was offering to him. I explained that I had spoken with a different company and he didn't seem to like that very much. He explained that he didn't want anything to do with the job. He said he didn't offer free estimates and hung up the phone on me.

Member did call but I was far from under the impression she was interested in me doing a job but rather wanted to check on the bid of another contractor. I was on the phone for several minutes as she described what the other contractor had intended to do and wanted my opinion on their proposal. I make every effort to help people on the phone if I can but I do not think it reasonable to expect me to determine if another is doing their job.

Dennis came out and found the outlet very quickly...while I felt silly, he was very thorogh in explaining mutliple things and answering questions I asked on a few related topics. Their price is more than fair...I just made sure I got my monies worth because the fix was so quick. Trust me...I knew in about 2.2 seconds that I could trust Dennis to come back and take care of any future electrical issue I have...I will NOT go elsewhere.
Description of Work: Outdoor and garage outlets not working. I talked to Joe a few times on the phone and he helped me with questions to hone in on why and while I knew it was likely related to tripped GFI, I simply couldn't locate it.

Joe is a wonderful man! Our outside Christmas lights haven't been working since Christmas eve and didn't know what to do so I checked Angie's list and called Joe this morning. I explained the situation and he was very helpful he told me to check the garage or bathroom and reset the receptical and if that didn't work he would come out tomorrow. So I did exactly what he told me and my lights are working. What a guy!He didn't have to tell me, he could have come out charged me for the same thing but he didn't. The electric company had to shut off the electricity to my home due to a problem with the meter box on my house. I called Joe Gioffre Electric and Mr. Gioffre put me at the top of the schedule and sent a crew out immediately to fix the problem, so that the electricity could be turned back on ASAP.

A neighbor had inadvertently broken one of four of our landscaping lights while clearing snow from our driveway. The lights had been expensive, but I was not able to find the invoice, and couldn't find comparable lights on the internet. We couldn't even find the name of the company who had made them. We really love these lights; other electricians had not been able to fix our broken one. Dennis, of this company, took the parts along with him on his truck, and found a replacement part for the lamp. He has fixed the other lamp that had a cracked shade. They are superb! I would give them a Super Service Award for this job!!
Description of Work: Fixed the light sensor for our landscape lighting. Repaired one light whose top was broken. Found replacement parts for a completely broken lamp.

Excellent, they came out within 2 hours after I called them because the person I originally called never showed. He showed me that a box hanging by the fan was not up to code and fixed this issue. I would highly recommend them for their professionalism.

On Tuesday Sept. 7 I called Joe because I was so impressed with his ratings on Angie's list. I live in Springfield, my daughter's house is in Columbus. I told him that we wanted the doorbell fixed and some fluorescent lights installed in the basement in my daughter's house, and would like an estimate.I gave him our telephone number in Springfield and my daughter's number in Columbus. At first he said he would come at 8:30 on Thursday ( Sept. 9) morning but since we were coming from Springfield he said he would arrive between 10 and 10:30. We arrived at the house in Columbus shortly before 10:00. We waited and waited, and finally about 11:15 I called him and got an answering machine. I said we were waiting for him and would he please call and gave him my daughter's number. About about 11:45 I called an alternate number and got Joe's father. I told him we were waiting for Joe to come and give us an estimate. Joe's father said to call him back, he was sure he would respond. I called Joe back and then got the answering machine again. This happened on Thursday and we never heard from Joe, either in Springfield or in Columbus.(We have caller ID on both phones). I am so puzzled by this behavior since he had such excellent reviews on Angie's List. I hope you will check into it for us.

I was very impressed from the punctual and professional approach shown during the intital visit when providing a free estimate to the date where the actual work was performed. The employees were very pleasant, informative and considerate. Additionally, the work was done neatly, the mess was cleaned up and the product has appeared to work very well. I would highly recommend and definitely use this company again for both large and small projects.

Overall they did a good job. Joe answered my call in three rings. He did set an appointment that he had to change. It did take a week for some one to come out. He sent a guy on Tuesday who looked over the fuse box. They informed me that I would need it replaced, provided an estimate to do so and repaired a few loose wires.

We have used Joe Gioffre before to upgrade an electical box on a house that we were selling and we were very pleased with the service and cost at that time (around 9/08). This time we were having a problem with an electrical outlet on our patio. I called him, and he personally answered the phone. I explained that I had already checked the circuit breakers and that the outlet was not working. He said that before he came out and had to charge a service call, that I should look at that outlet or other outlets to see if any had a reset button. He said that due to all of the rain that we were having that that button might have popped. He said that he thought that that was all it would be and he was right! I found the button and it was popped. Pushed reset and we are good to go. Can't do much better than free advice like this.

The worker from Joe Gioffre was on time, professional and respectful. The owner answered the phone, which I appreciated. He installed the new belt correctly. We haven't had any issues since!
Description of Work: We had a whole house fan in our attic installed by another electrician. He had put the belt in too tight, which shorted out the motor.

Fantastic. It was so great that he offerred to help me over the phone saving a service call and the associated cost. With everything else we were doing around the holidays the found time was truly appreciated. Plus our kids got to enjoy our Christmas lights!
Description of Work: I called Mr. Gioffre's phone number and described the problem. (Outlet on the front porch and in the garage not operational). I explained that I had previously tried the breakers in the basement - to no avail. He said that he thought he might know the problem and walked me through it over the phone. He suggested trying to reset the light plug outlet in our 1st floor half bath. I did and then checked the outlets in question and they worked. It was very nice that he offered to solve the problem for free over the phone.

Great. First, after calling several other electricians to try to schedule work, I was fortunate to call Joe Gioffre. I spoke with Mr. Gioffre on the phone and was immediately impressed with his professionalism and helpfulness. He gave me explicit, clear directions over the phone about a couple of things to try in order to do a preliminary diagnostic on the problem. He was informative, cordial, and took time to explain things to me. That exercise helped to rule out certain things. He then scheduled my job promptly, and the electrician came right on time and took care of the problem efficiently. Joe Gioffre Electric is definitely becoming my regular electrician!
Description of Work: A bank of lights in my kitchen made a "pop" sound and went out. The fuse was not tripped.

Over the phone Mr. Gioffre suggested that the breaker may not have reset properly, so he advised that I reset it firmly, a couple of times if necessary, listening for a clear "click", to see if that would solve the problem. Mr. Gioffre's advise was right on the money, so to speak, as the breaker reset completely, and my dryer works again. I would absolutely use this electrician again, as the results this time, without any cost to me, were so successful!
Description of Work: I needed an electrician to replace a breaker for my dryer, or so I thought, so I called Mr. Gioffre, based on reports in Angie's list. (The breaker tripped early this week, I reset it, but the dryer still did not dry although everything else on it worked. I had a dryer repair person come out to replace the heater on the dryer. He determined that the heater and everything else on the dryer were functioning properly, and suggested that either the breaker or perhaps the wiring to the dryer from the breaker was at fault. Hence, the need for an electrician.)
