Jim installed GFCI breakers and outlets. He replaced three and four-way switches. He also did some updates to junction boxes. He was on time. He came out a week prior and gave me an estimate. His estimate was right on target.

Jim has done work for me in the past. He is skilled, professional and very easy to work with. He is willing to talk about what work needs done and ways to approach it. He works carefully and cleans up after himself. I would recommend him to anyone.

Had a wonderful experience with James Hartley Electric! Came out and did an estimate, mailed estimate to us promptly. He had the estimate to us faster than our other 4 estimates which was great because we really wanted to get the project started. We had to call 2 of the companies more than a week after their estimate to ask why we hadn't received anything yet. So we were really impressed right off the bat that Jim was so prompt. Jim had a co-worker with him, finished in 2 1/2 days. Everything was perfect and they even went out of their way installing one of the outlets that ended up being harder to reach than expected. Their work was impeccable and everything was just as we wanted. They had to work around 3 dogs and 2 gates in the house and they were never bothered by the dogs, in fact our dogs got lots of attention. And I got to talk dogs with someone which is always a joy. They were just the nicest guys, couldn't have asked for a better contractor and better experience. We are so pleased with the work they did. A+ all the way!

The service went well. We are selling the house so that is something we had to do for it to be up to code. One electrician came out and completed the job in about 45 minutes. He was an efficient worker and thorough about everything. He was happy to explain the process to me and discuss the pros and cons. I had no problem scheduling the service.

James (not the owner) but employee did the work. When it came time to install the porch light it wouldn't work because it was too big and the front door would hit it. James waited while I went to a store to buy another fixture. He did this all with a cheerful and professional attitude. I know he had other plans and I appreciated his patience. Would definitely hire again.

Jim is respectful of his surroundings. His work is neatly done and completed as promised. Given his years as an electrician, he is helpful in working through issues and provides practical solutions. He understands his business and seems to be knowledgeable about codes, new products, etc. This is the second house in which we have used his company. I will use Hartley Electric as the need occurs in the future.

I wrote a negative review of this provider when he did not call as promised. But he got in touch and explained that his written message to me was poorly written and subject to misinterpretation and he promised to come right over. He did so, stayed three hours, and fixed several knotty problems in my newly purchased house. I was quite satisfied with hi work when he was done and will certainly use him again.

I spoke to the receptionist. She very politely told me her husband would call me back. That was four days ago. He never did. I will not use this provider.

Mr. Hartley was very patient in listening to my concerns, taking the time to inspect and test outlets that I was concerned about, and provide advice for future work I was interested in. Mr. Hartley changed out all requested outlets. Considering the time involved and additional inspections I requested, I believe the pricing was fair. I am very happy with the work completed and will be hiring Mr. Hartley for additional work we discussed. Mr. Hartley arrived on time. The original appointment had to be rescheduled for later in the day due to a city requested inspection that was out of his control, but Mr. Hartley was very apologetic about it, and we worked out a time that was convenient for other errands I needed to complete that day.

They have good reviews on Angie's List. The gentleman who came was polite and neat. He came out when he said he's going to come. He explained as he was doing things and he did a terrific job. I've actually recommended the gentleman to a co-worker. I made a mistake sending them a check addressed to John Hartley instead of James Hartley. Mr. Hartley was timely sending it back to me and the situation worked out well. I believe that the price they charged me was fair.

Overall, Jim and his electrician James were terrific. This is my first time in selecting an electrician and I will definitely hire them again. Most important, Jim was a good communicator. He answered my questions and made alternate recommendations. He was very pleasant in taking a Saturday call when I had a question about the final install and then proactively set up the final install appointment. His electrician James was very capable and efficient. I appreciate the quality of work and punctuality for such a small job.

We arranged to meet Jim for a quote. He showed up on time and we agreed on a price and made an appointment for the work to be done. He called the day we were to have work done and had to cancel. He said he would try to have his guy out the next morning. He showed up on time the next morning on time and performed the work as promised. He did a great job and cleaned up his work. We were charged a fair price and are very happy with work.

Mr. Hartley did a thorough walkthrough with us and made a list of items that we'd like to have done. He was able to itemize this list so that we could work our way through it as money allows. We started by having our house grounded at the box so that we can begin installing 3-prong, grounded outlets. I know, welcome to the future, old Clintonville house! He worked with our schedule, answered all of our many questions and we are very happy with the results. Hooray for updated electricity!

I contacted James on Tuesday morning. We arranged for him to come that afternoon to discuss and estimate my issue, which he would do the work on Thursday. I spoke to him an hour or so later to let him know that Thursday would be okay for everything (I had sorted out an issue), but he could still come on Tuesday. He said he would be there before 2pm as something had cleared on his schedule. Tuesday afternoon came and went, no communication. Wednesday, no communication. Thursday (today, it's about 3:30 PM right now) I still have not heard from him.

All went well, and Jim Hartley offered advice on how to improve my outdoor lighting in the future. When one light was not functioning properly, he returned and made some adjustments at no additional charge, but the light itself (which I had purchased) has a faulty sensor that sometimes works as it should, other times it turns off or on at seemingly a whim. To fix this would require a new light, which I do not want to bother with right now. Mr. Hartley is very knowledgable, personable and punctual, and I highly recommend him.

If I could give A+s I would. Jim was by far the best electrician we have ever worked with over 20+ years in multiple states. Timely, professional, and he gave us a good deal. We are very pleased with the outcome of the work and will definitely use him again.

We got Jim's name off of Angie's List. He had good reviews and seemed to be interested in answering the reviews and sounded as though he would do a good job. He came out a few days after we called him. We are in the process of fixing my mom's house up to sell because she passed away last year. There was an electrical socket that didn't work. When he came out I believe he was held up on another job and a bit late, but he called and it was fine because we were there working. He fixed the light fixture and didn't go in the attic for the other job because it was a hot day. He was going to send his helper a few days later so we made the appointment. My husband went to the house to let them in and nobody showed so he called Jim. He told us that his helper was sick, which we know happens and they scheduled another appointment. The helper showed up on time, or a bit early even. He went in the attic, located the problem and fixed it very quickly. The jobs were done well and we were happy. We had one problem, and I don't want this to sound negative in any way, but I thought the bill was a bit high. They weren't there long and we live north of Johnstown and drove all the way to Reynoldsburg (60 miles round trip) and at the time I thought we could have been notified earlier so we didn't have to make that drive. So I called Jim and left a message and he called me back very quickly. He said he didn't remember exactly the situation but wanted us to be happy and cut the bill in half. He is a very nice guy, willing to work with a customer and I appreciate that. So, yes we would hire him again and think you would be happy hiring him for any job, big or small.

James and his crew are very professional & work efficiently. I was very pleased with their work, and will not hesitate to employ their services again in the future. Additionally, they turned out to be very nice people, and I prefer to give my hard-earned cash to someone that I like!
