Mr. Hartley was great to work with and I will be using him any time I need an electrician in the future. He is easy to reach, has great communication skills, and completed the work I needed done promptly and efficiently. He was very respectful of my home and was careful when bringing in ladders and other tools. The cost was affordable and reasonable. He knows what he is doing and does it well, all with a smile and great attitude to boot!

It's a real struggle to find good professionals these days. You call the run of the mill companies and they give you insane five figures quotes. You read reviews online and you don't know what's real. I'm so thankful that a coworker recommended Jim. He came, found the problem immediately and fixed it in no time. He charged nowhere near what the large, so called "electrical repair" company wanted to charge. Jim made a difference for me that day! Thank you Jim!

Jim was responsive to my request and contacted me back the same day I called. He worked with me as I cancelled on him one time while I laid the conduit between the house and the location. He was informative in telling me what needed to be done to pass code. He installed my outdoor outlets and ran electrical from the house to them. His work was neat and tidy and fast. He offered me a few different options of outlet boxes and places to mount but didn't charge anything extra for my choices. His billing process was professional and he accepts different forms of payments. I would definitely recommend and use him for all my electrical needs going forward

After a very heavy rainstorm water somehow got into our circuit breaker box. It ran down the stack of breakers and settled into the arc fault breaker in the bottom of the stack, tripping the breaker. The next morning I called Hartley. Mr Hartley answered immediately. He said he'd try to get there at the end of the day, but at mid-day he texted me to say that his previous job finished early and he could come at 1 PM. I went home and met him at my house. He was very knowledgeable, and a very pleasant guy to deal with. He dried out one breaker, but when he removed the arc fault one, water just ran out of it. We discussed it and thought that it probably would dry out eventually, but it might take a couple of days, and it's possible that the water did internal damage to the breaker. So rather than wait, I decided to have him replace the breaker (and arc fault breakers cost 60 bucks). He then inspected the breaker box and the connections, and found that there was no rust, so the box itself did not to get replaced. Then he went outside and opened up the box where the meter was. He put sealant in and around the conduit so water wouldn't track inside again. He also opened up an unused knock-out in the bottom of the box just a little bit, so that any water that might get in during the next storm will just drain out instead of tracking along the conduit. He was done with the whole thing in about 1/2 hour. I'd definitely call him again.

It is very rare that you find a craftsman at the level of Mr. Hartley. - Situation, said house had an undetectable electical short which was tripping the breakers , Mr.Hartley went thru every outlet and circuit in the house, restoring and replacing any hardware that needed to be replaced. Mr.Hartley did indeed find and repair the faulty circuit. Mr. Hartley is very thorough and meticuous in his work. One of the most genuine friendly pros I ever met, No nonsense, gets right to it. Prices are more than fair. I highly recommend James Hartley Electric.

I called to schedule an appointment and I never received the courtesy of a return phone call.

The light quit working. He came to find out why. We determined that the cable from the house to the yard light was broken somewhere. He tried to trace it and determined that the cable was broken under my concrete driveway. He charged me $180 for the visit, and, of course, could not repair it. After sleeping on his conclusion for a couple of days, I determined it did not meet the smell test. Consequently, I asked my irrigation guy to check it out. In 10 minutes, he followed the buried wire, and found where it was broken under a new tree that had been planted last fall. Where he traced the wire was not even close to where Mr. Hartley tried to tell me it was. James Hartley is not qualified to repair outside lights.

Jim replaced the switches working very quickly. Did a great job. Very reasonable. Highly recommended.

We thought we were going to have to replace our entire breaker box because fuses kept blowing. After James stopped by to give us an estimate, he told us there was absolutely nothing wrong with the fuse box! It was in great shape. The problem was our garbage disposal was shorting out and and blowing the fuses. We simply needed a new garbage disposal! We certainly appreciate his honesty...and he didn't even charge use for the diagnosis! Thank you so very much for helping us...and we will certainly call you again when we have a "real" electric issue!

This man is very difficult to pin down, we called him to fix a light bulb & an outlet, we've contacted him nov.16, 2017; We need him for more work for him to do, initially we asked him to come before thanksgiving, but no response after we called him, he came back but did not finish the work instead left the materials in my garage , and told me that he will be back to complete the installation at another time. I was caught unaware of the $180.00 charge as a minimum service fee for an Electrical Service. I don't know about the charges but I think the $180.00 was excessive. And he didn't tell me anything about a flat fee of $180.00 service. I still after repeated request, I do not have an itemized billing from him. I don't recommend this company.
