They never provided a written estimate. I was dissatisfied that they didn't provide the quote. They did come on schedule for the quote. I don't understand why a company would come out and measure and spend their time and then never follow through.
Description of Work: I contacted WindowPRO for a quote to replace a couple of bow windows. It was a large job.

Jeff Lowe came to my home twice and I visited the showroom twice before I made my decision to put in Marvin fiberglass Infinity windows. I had a lot of questions, but Jeff was very patient and the price was excellent (that is, considerably lower than the competition). The installation was done by Roger Wears and his two sons--a WindowPro-certified team--and I was equally pleased. They were not only meticulous in terms of removing my old jalousie aluminum windows circa 1959 and installing the new fiberglass ones but laid down sheets throughout the house, then swept and vacuumed when they were done. (Note: my old windows and storms as well as the debris was carefully removed and taken away.) Roger and his sons also did a scrupulous job of cleaning up outside afterwards. In sum, I am very happy I chose WindowPro: as the name indicates, they're total "pros" when it comes to replacement windows.
Description of Work: WindowPro installed eleven (11) fiberglass Marvin Infinity windows. (Two of the windows were double casement and one was a large picture window.) I chose fiberglass over vinyl because, among other things, it's stronger, more tensile, and, perhaps most importantly, there's more window and less frame. I also chose fiberglass over wood because the white interior and beige cashmere exterior went better with my house. (The white brightens the interior space while the cashmere meshes well with the stucco exterior.)

They arrived on time, did their work without any breaks, and left everything in order. They were very good to clean up and best of all, their work was of high quality. This team knew what they were doing and apparently had worked together for a number of years.
Description of Work: Replaced all old wood windows with new Marvin windows (we had 13 to do). We got the fiberglass finish inside (called Everwood) which looks just like real wood but without the rotting and other problems of wood. The workers were prompt and did a quality job, on time. I would definitely recommend Window Pro to anyone wanting to get new windows. We also had a new steel front door installed and once again, the work was done quickly and professionally.

They had to order the windows specially made. They gave me a call and came to put them in. It took them two days to install them. There was supposed to be two people installing them, but one didn't show up. The guy that came did a fine job. The windows are fiberglass, but there is something over them that they can paint so it looks like wood; a different company did that. The windows are top of the line. I can crank them out, and they pivot at a different angle. When I open the upstairs windows, I am able to clean them myself instead of having someone else come and do it. The sub-contractor that they used for the window had a number of helpers, and he was kind of talking down to them. That bothered me. His attitude with his workers was not real good. It was a rainy day when they put them in, and they got the work done before the rain was really bad.
Description of Work: I had 8 Marvin fiberglass windows installed by Window Pro. They disposed of my old windows.

They were fabulous. They did all the windows at once and it was very nice. They did a great job. There were 3-4 people working at one time so the work was finished quickly. Another company has bought them out now.

The installation and clean-up was great. I saw a couple of flecks of paint from the house on the ground, no doubt dislodged from removing the old windows, and that's about it. A remarkable absence of debris inside or out. Jeff, the salesman, had noted that the strength of the fiberglass compared to vinyl allows the framing surrounding the glass to be smaller. This didn't factor strongly into my selection, but upon seeing the windows installed, I really liked the larger area of glass and, therefore, light coming in. I would say that the framing around the glass on the upstairs fiberglass windows is about half to two-thirds as much as around the vinyl windows downstairs. They're also more lightweight and easier to open and shut. Minor criticisms compared to my Rosati vinyl windows downstairs: I opted for the standard clasps for locking the windows, and I think Rosati's standard ones are nicer and more substantial. The upper sash on the Rosati windows open and shut too, which is kind of nice, whereas the upper sash on the Marvin Windowpro does not; it is fixed except for tilting in to clean the outside window surface. Also, the Rosati windows have the flip-out security things low on either side of the upper sash frame so the window can only open so far when they're flipped out; the Marvin WindowPro windows do not. With the replacement windows, the summer/winter temperature difference between upstairs and down has been noticeably diminished. Overall, I'm very happy with these windows.
Description of Work: I replaced all 14 upstairs, wood-framed, single-pane windows in my 1923 house with Marvin's WindowPro fiberglass windows. All the door and window trim and framing in my upstairs rooms is white, as opposed to varnished wood. I stuck with this for my upstairs replacements. Jeff, the salesman, gave me a quote for the newer, stronger product than vinyl that was less than 5% more than my quote for vinyl replacements from Rosati (who did my downstairs replacements a few years ago). When Rosati followed up with me to reduce their quote by $250, Jeff matched the reduction to keep my price differential the same. So I opted to pay a little more for the fiberglass.

The windows came in on schedule, the installers arrived on time and worked for 2 days. We noticed right away they had brought pine instead of poplar for the interior casings and that got corrected. They cleaned up and/or stashed their tools out of the way each day. The sub contracted painters were scheduled quickly and worked for 2 days later. We did have to re-order the cranks and screens as they were the wrong color. There was also a damaged mechanism in the kitchen window. It took awhile for those to come in. Also the screens weren't the invisible mesh and that had to be changed. The original estimate was accurate. It had been provided to us in Feb, a contract with half downpayment signed 2/20/09. The windows were measured officially on Mar. 9, installed on April 6 and 7, painted April 8 and 9 in time for Easter. Then all the loose ends of screens and cranks tied up on May 11. We started this quest in Jan. with high gas heating bills and the need to do something about it. Give yourself 4 or 5 months to make window replacement happen! Each worker was polite, accomodating and provided quality service and work.
Description of Work: They estimated and installed Marvin casement windows for front of our home. We had taller than standard windows in our living and dining rooms and needed clad wood for those to keep the price down. Upstairs bedrooms ,we got the fiberglass infinity ones. We decided on full tear out to keep the window glass area the same size and replace the 30 year old wood.

From the initial quote to the final installation the process was smooth and professional. The sales person came to our home and presented his material in a professional manner. My wife and I took some time to think it over and after some negotiating, internet pricing, and Angie's List discounts, we were able to get a price per window comparable to all all other windows of similar quality we investigated. We had a total of nine windows replaced in our Grandview home built in 1923 and the replacement windows look natural and appropriate in our home. Once we had finalized the quote, a final measurement was taken at our house and about a week later a woman with Renewal by Andersen (RBA) called with an installation date. The windows came in right on schedule, approximately 4-5 weeks after the quote was finalized and 1/2 of the purchase price was put as a down payment. The installers arrived at exactly 8:30 am as scheduled (I distinctly remember this because I looked at the cable box clock right before answering the door and was dumbfounded by their precise punctuality). The installation crew consisted of three men from the Toledo, Ohio RBA division who had worked as a team for over 8 years. The rooms in which the windows were to be installed were prepped according to installation specifications; all furniture was moved 5 feet from the windows, all pictures were taken down from the walls, and all window treatments were fully removed, all by the homeowners. Following these specifications, the installation crew was able to begin working immediately upon arrival. The floors and all furniture was covered appropriately by the installation crew and the process began. By nature it was a very loud, very messy, and very cold process (as we had our windows installed in December). The entire process lasted until about 5:00 pm that evening and was completed in one day. At the end of the process the crew cleaned the windows and vacuumed any debris in the immediate area. The outside grounds were also cleaned of debris and when the crew left you could not tell they had been there. Before leaving, the crew instructed my wife and me in proper use, care, and maintenance of our new windows, and provided a homeowner guide. Overall, the process was seamless and the installation was very professional. The only challenging part as a homeowner was taking down and re-installing all the window treatments and moving the furniture. After much research, I am pleased with the quality of the replacement window product, the thoroughness of the installation, and the negotiated price of the windows. The Fibrex material used in the construction appears to be very durable and looks better than a standard vinyl window, while avoiding some of the potential negatives of aluminum clad wood windows. As of the date of this posting, I would recommend RBA Fibrex windows as high quality replacement windows.
Description of Work: Installed nine replacement windows for aging and rotted sash and pulley windows. Removed and disposed of old windows, installed new windows, and replaced aluminum coiling around windows to the original level, if not better than what was there prior to installation.

They were on time and went right to work and explained anything I asked about. Very polite. They were going to replace a rotten board under our deck for no cost. We had three different people look at it (including the company that got rid of our carpenter ants) and they all said it could be replaced. When the window man from Renewal looked at it he said he would not recommend replacing it as it would damage the boards on our composite deck. He told us about an epoxy we could get from a boat repair store that could be injected into the wood and fill in the rotten places, then it could be sanded and painted. This was terrific that he told us this. We haven't tried it yet, but will. It took three people in the construction field to look at it and none suggested this; they apparently had no knowledge of repair work even though they do estimates. The window and door look very nice, and now anxious for winter to see if they keep out the cold air.

We called Renewal by Andersen to get a quote for replacement of our 80 year old drafty steel casement windows. We wanted to select windows that would blend well with our older home so we limited ourselves to looking at wood-clad and composite windows. Justin, the Renewal Rep, came out to our house to take measurements and discuss options. He was professional and courteous and provided a quote promptly. He brought out some sample windows as well as pictures of installations. We also stopped by the showroom to see more examples and were able to view a few homes in our neighborhood to see the final product. We decided to break the project up across two years to defray some of the cost. The windows came in 5-6 weeks after being ordered and the installers took about 2 days to install 10 windows. An installation manager oversaw the whole process and worked through some of the issues to make sure we had the best final product without destroying our trimwork. It made a bit of a mess but the installers cleaned up most of the dirt and grime. Justin came out the next year and we completed the final 10 windows. The house is much quieter now with the new windows and our heating bills decreased by about $100/month in the winter with just half the windows replaced. We are looking forward to a toasty winter now that we have all new windows. With the final windows in, we found what looked like a scratch on one. I called Renewal and they had someone out within a week to look at it. It was some kind of transfer and was easily corrected on the spot.

At all times the crew members were polite and pleasant to work with; however, the quality of the manufacture and installation fell short of our expectations. The contractor had a tremendous amount of difficulty in measuring and properly installing the eight half rounds. Initially the eight half rounds were custom made to the wrong size and had to be replaced. In installing the decorative sunburst grills in the half rounds, seven of eight were damaged. Replacements were the wrong size. Finally replacements of roughly the right size were obtained; however, the fit isn't snug thereby reducing the attractiveness. The original contract was signed in late July, 2007 and the final grill replacement didn't occur until about ten months later. This year we had an additional five windows replaced, but used a different contractor.
