Wow! Real old-fashioned customer service! Pat was very professional and honest in his assessment of our water problem. His recommendation focused on our best interest as a customer. His crew was very polite and cleaned up the area each day they worked. They were very willing to answer questions during the project.

It went very well. Owner Pat Kirby was great to work with. He is very knowledgeable about his work and good about only recommending what he feels is necessary to correct the problem. He was great with answering my questions and addressing my concerns. Great at returning calls. The workers were great too. They were timely and answered my questions, and addressed my concerns. Shortly after the work was completed, I noted that the water meter was leaking. I called Pat and he was willing to address the problem as needed. The leak stopped on it's own, Pat and I thinking that the water line may have been accidentally jarred while the work was being completed. Also I noted that some of the washers and bolts on the beams were not tight, Pat arranged to have couple of his workers come the next day to tighten them. Then about a couple weeks later, I noticed that a couple of boards needed nailed down, which Pat arranged for a worker to come out within a couple of days. This worker did a good comb over to make sure all work was satisfactory. I am now satisfied with the work. I was waiting for some rain before writing this review, to see if there were any leaks. We have had a recent heavy rain, and all seems ok, no leaks.
Description of Work: Had six steel beams placed on one basement wall for wall support, for wall was cracked and bowing. They also jack hammered out one small section of the basement floor where water was leaking from bottom part of the wall. They found one of the weep holes in the drainage pipe of the foundation to be clogged. They unclogged it and put cement down. Also added a new sump pump with new lines and a freeze guard was installed. We didn't have a sump pump to begin with.

We contacted Mr. Kirby regarding a wet basement wall. He went out to the home and told us that the basement didn't need waterproofing and that the gutters were the cause of the wetness. He spoke to us over the phone 3-4 times and was knowledgeable and super friendly. We are so thankful to him for being honest with us and not suggesting unnecessary work just to make a dollar. Highly recommend!

Everything went great! The work is completed and basement is dry again. Things went smoothly during the estimate and scheduling. Pat is very responsive and will typically respond to your questions same day. I was originally quoted for epoxy for all 4 sides of the basement walls. When the walls of the finished basement came down on the first day we discovered a stair step crack in one wall that needed beams to be addressed. We traded out the epoxy for beams, since this was priority. This did not delay the work and they were still completed a day early. Everything was kept as clean as possible. Concrete dust is the worst and gets on/in everything and you will be doing some cleaning afterwards. I have no complaints though the team warned me of this ahead of time, so no surprises. I have no fear that if I see water after this Pat and team will be all over it. I would recommend them for anyone needing repair work done on their basement.

We had been trying to resolve a mustiness issue in our basement for several years and decided to call in some professionals after discovering some cracks in the foundation of our home. Pat, the owner, came out and determined that the issue was caused by an issue with a failing drainage system in our foundation (a similar conclusion from one of their competitors). Pat quoted a price that was lower than one of their competitors and gave a timeframe for when the work could be completed (about a month-and-a-half). Due to a shift in their schedule, they were able to move us up and the crew that came out were extremely professional. Part of the job included jack-hammering the concrete flooring in our basement. They covered everything in plastic to prevent dust from covering our belongings and did an excellent job cleaning up after completing the job (about 2 and 1/2 days of work). The team lead made himself available to address any concerns or questions I had and did an excellent job communicating throughout the process. I believe they went above and beyond completing the job and would recommend them.

Pat and his team were very professional thorough. The team arrived on time each of the 3 days they were here. They worked quickly and with quality, making sure they informed me of all the steps along the way. The Hydra team was extremely courteous and clean. But for the jackhammering and drilling required, I would've never known they were here. Over the years I had numerous estimates on my basement waterproofing. Hydra's estimate was the lowest by quite a bit. The lower price, however, does not mean it's less quality. I felt Hyrdra was way more knowledgeable, honest and willing to answer any questions than any other estimate I received. I hopefully won't need their services anymore now, but if I did, I would use them again and would certainly recommend them.

I talked to Pat Kirby and he listened to my explanations on my basement issues and asked for pictures of the problems. I sent the pictures to him and he responded to me right away every time. He explained to me that the crack in the block was very minor and to caulk it and not worry about it and if the crack ever gets bigger let him know. Pat also told me that the issue with the wetness by the sump pump was coming from the outside and I explained that my drain pipe to the road is broken but still draining he explained that this would be the cause. He explained that needs corrected and the wetness should be taken care of. He said I could then reseal the block. Pat was great to talk to and was very knowledgeable and I appreciate his help. I will use Hydra when I need basement work completed.

Pat, Noe and the Hydra crew were a pleasure to work with. After they explained everything in detail, I was confident that they were the company for the job, and I was not disappointed. I cannot say enough positives about my experience. The crew was knowledgeable, professional, and extremely hard-working. They were punctual and went out of their way to minimize any disruption to our routine. If I had known how painless this process would be, I would never have put off the work we had done. I have had extensive remodeling and repairs to my home, and I have never worked with a finer group of people.

Pat sent a crew of 4 men to my house. Two worked in the basement replacing the sump pump and two worked outside digging up the old drain pipes and replacing them. First, the foreman, whose name I cannot remember, explained what they were going to do. I appreciated him explaining all that. Then the guys inside put plastic on the floor from the door to the sump pump protecting all my floors. That was very nice. They were extremely neat and picked up everything when they left. They explained how the new sump pump worked and how the battery worked. They were articulate and very clear with the explanation. The men outside (also very nice, and clear with the explanation of what they were about to do) had to dig up a large area around the corner of the house where the downspout and the pipe from the sump pump were joined underground with a Y joint. When they got there, they noticed that the metal strip that had attached this to the wall, was rusted and no longer held the pipes up to provide the grading to make the water flow to the street. Then they saw that a pipe was cracked and water was escaping. None of the joints of the pipes were glued closed, and water poured out of them when they were pulled apart. It had not rained in a week when they did this, illustrating that this held water all the time. That water was leaking into the ground and eventually down the outside cinder block, and coming through into our basement. During a heavy rain you could see the water stain on the cinder block wall. They replaced all the piping and lifted it up to provide the angle for it to drain properly. They filled the hole with dirt, and smoothed out the dirt to make it look neat. It was a lot of work, but with four men, they were finished in less than 3 hours. I think that with the amount of work they did, the price for all this was very reasonable. I am actually excited for the first rain storm to see how well it all works. I want to add that Pat was very patient and kind, and came out to my house to 'diagnose' the problem. I explained to him that other providers had given more expensive estimates and we tried several other suggestions to fix this. But Pat saw what the problem was right away. I appreciate his help and guidance, as I was feeling very frustrated that the other things we tried did not work.
Description of Work: They fixed the outside pipes that had cracked and were leaking water into the ground around it, and during a heavy rain, flowing down the cinder block, causing it to be wet inside the basement wall. They dug up the existing pipes and replaced all of them, even the pipe from the sump pump. They also replaced my sump pump and added a battery back-up for it.

Technically, these guys did a superior job to what other companies had estimated, and for a better price. They drilled holes in the cinder blocks to allow the water into drainage pipes installed around the interior of the crawlspace. The pipes drained into a sump pump with a proper check valve that was vented to the outside of the house with a freeze protected exit pipe. The laid down a dimpled layer of plastic pad that allowed other moisture to drain toward the sump and encapsulated the space with heavy white plastic. They also sealed the vents to prevent humid air from entering the space. The finishing touch was a dehumidifier that now drains into the sealed sump, bringing the humidity down to the perfect level to prevent mold and discourage bugs. I have made an important investment in my home that will make it much healthier and preserve the infrastructure for the future. Did I say it actually looks beautiful and I wouldn't hesitate at all to go in to the crawlspace to work on plumbing or run wire. Personally, the owner, Pat, was always a delight to work with, answering all my questions and explaining clearly what needed to be done and why. I can't say enough about the four guys who came to do the work, Noe, Rick, Randy and Ryan. They were always pleasant and helpful and happy to explain how the process was going. They made sure I was comfortable with every step of the job and frequently asked for my opinion. They had good ideas that made the project turn out better than I had anticipated. They were always very professional and kept the work area clean. They had a "can do" attitude that wouldn't quit and made it their job to keep me happy. Kudos to Pat and his crew; they're the best!

Pat Kirby responded to my phone call within 24 hours. He asked me to send over pictures of the basement. He called me right after he got the pictures and assured me that the issues were mainly cosmetic. He suggested a couple of steps I could take to deal with the minor moisture issues. They were easy and relatively inexpensive. Instead of trying to sell me an expensive waterproofing system, he spent a lot of time calling me and emailing me. Further, he cautioned me against going for a basement waterproofing system as it was unnecessary in this case. He was professional, courteous and very reassuring. I will definitely call him if I have any basement issues in future and recommend him to my friends.

We have a long-term relationship with Hydra. About 10 years ago we started having water issues in the basement and 1/2 below grade levels of our split-level home. After getting several bids we went with Hydra - though the company was pretty new then - Pat Kirby was patient, explained everything, and applied no sales pressure or hype. Pat proposed an under floor perimeter system in the basement, and a separate outside the foundation collection system with outside sump pump installed well below the frost line for the west and north sides of the 1/2 below grade level. Hydra constructed the basement system in coordination with a radon contractor so we could use the water collection system to also collect radon gas better and with no additional floor breakage or piping (saving about $1,000 on the radon job). Both systems have worked well. This year has been wet enough that we had some water leak into the basement where concrete steps connect the basement and 1/2 below grade levels. When the system was first installed, that small area was not thought to need to be included in the drainage loop. When we told Pat we had a leak there, he had his main crew come out and close the loop around the steps without additional charges. At that time I asked the Crew leader, Noe, about options for a backup to the basement sump. He told me what they could do and about other options we might want to consider. Before we had decided came thunderstorms that put a lot of water in our systems and then knocked out the power. I called Pat and he called me back promptly, even though it was about 9 PM. He said he might be able to get Noe to come out and install a backup pump and battery system. He checked, called me back, and Noe and another worker came out and had the backup system in by about 10:30 PM. Later we had more storms and another power outage, but we we didn't have to worry or vacuum up water. ;-)
Description of Work: Came out late at night when power was out and sump was filling and installed a battery backup sump pump system.

We requested from Pat, a pre-work visit from one of his team that would be working the job. Noe, the job foreman responded to our request. Noe gave us a call and we made an appointment with him to review the project. This was very beneficial to us to meet him. He has a lot of good experience with basements, poured and block basements. His knowledge and review of the project was very helpful in identifying additional dampness in a wall that we had not investigated. His review of the job with us encouraged us in our endeavor to resolve this change in our experience of our home. (Our home had not experienced water in our basement until the heavy rains began occurring last year. Last year's issue was resolved and water occurred again this year in another area.) We ask for the team to arrive as early as possible in order to reduce our time away from our own employers. They delightfully accommodated us by arriving early and ready for work. The job went for 1 full day (8:00am - 4:00ish) and a second day until 10:15. The team protected the carpet and contents of our basement with plastic. There was no evidence of any debris from the digging out of the concrete flooring and no evidence of any debris from the pour of the new concrete floor over the drain. They took all debris created from the job with them. This was a job well done. We like a lot of communication when we are working with a company to do work in our home. Pat and Noe are very conscientious of keeping us informed and answering our questions. We knew exactly what to expect from them. The Hydra team is very knowledgeable, friendly and performed the job neatly with great communication to provide us the best service to our high expectations.

Hydra was great! They explained the entire process and made sure I didn't have any questions. They cleaned up each day and move a bunch of our stuff out of the way. They covered everything in plastic to minimize the cleanup. The system was battle tested this weekend when we had a 20 year rain (over 3 inches) in 4 hours. The system performed perfectly and did have any problem handling the excessive rain. My neighbors were not so lucky. I gave them Hydra's contact information.

We met with 3 different companies, and Hydra was by far the least expensive. The team came out and got the job done in 2 days; they came back for a third day to quickly re-hookup the washing machine and sink. Pat runs his business unlike the others we met with; he took about 2 days to come up with an estimate, which showed us how much care he takes for his customers. The downside is that he doesn't schedule far in advance; he gave us less than 24 hours notice to schedule our service, which was not very convenient. Luckily, we were able to make accommodations so that somebody was at our home to let his crew in!
