Turned out great.
Description of Work: Pat Kirby with Hydra had done some work in our basement and I was pleased enough that I called him on a different issue. When I removed some paneling from my basement wall I discovered that someone had previously removed a number of blocks to expose an under porch crawl space. I wasn't certain if this presented a structural problem and if the wall might need additional structural support. Pat assured me that the wall was fine and provided me with a solution that I could do myself. Install new block and mortar the joints and parge coat the entire surface. The project was simple and turned out great....THANKS HYDRA

Description of Work: We were looking to diagnose a small leak in our basement. Pat stayed on the phone with me for 30 mins to talk out what was wrong. He made some very simple cost effective suggestions that we took on ourselves. He is what everyone is looking for! So honest and genuine. Would trust him with anything!

Overall it went very well. The hydra guys were here on time each day and worked efficiently. They were the only company who could do the job with minimal disruption to the basement, which was great. Everyone else required me to relocate plumbing/gas lines/electrical box at my expense. My only issue involved Pat's waning customer service as the project progressed. He was abrasive with me on one occasion and explained it away as a workers comp issue weighing on him. Soon after the contract signing, I asked Pat for an estimate to seal and paint the walls. He said that he could do it and we could talk about price towards the start of the project. Once the project started, he talked around the painting issue and finally told me that he'd rather put me in touch with his painter so I could contract with him directly. I felt mislead as I really wanted to have the basement walls done at the same time. Pat was thorough in answering most of my questions, and the guys cleaned up great.
Description of Work: Installed 12 adjustable I-Beams, a perimeter drainage system, and sump pump. Repaired portion of downspout. Hydra will come back to my home in August to perform initial adjustment of beams & provide written instructions on adjusting of the beams.

We were fretting over having basement walls bowing with dampness on the floor. We had contacted companies from the yellow pages and we were very distraught. Then our neighbor suggested joining Angie's list and we did. We reviewed and contacted the companies with an A rating and what a difference! We were very comfortable with the companies that we talked with, and felt confident with the company we chose. Hydra LLC's owner supervised the work from beginning to end. The crew was thorough and courteous. They were prompt, neat, and communicated well with us. The job took two days, and each day they left everything very clean. They helped us move the heavier pieces of furniture and covered everything securely with plastic. We would happily recommend Hydra LLC to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: We had waterproofing and structural repair for two walls and a sump pump replacement. They installed adjustable beams on the bowing wall and added a drainage system under the floor.

We've lived in the 60 year old house for 8 years. The previous owner had put in a large addition, including basement rooms, some years ago. When we moved in, there was a large water stain on the wall around the ash pit, and the room always remained a source of dampness (no puddles or dripping, though). HydraLLC was the second estimate we got, and their evaluation of the problems was the same as the first company. Mr. Kirby took some extra time to explain the problems and the proposed work. The cost was comparable to the first company's estimate. The entire crew was professional, efficient, pleasant, and courteous. Communication about progress being made, by Patrick and the crew chief, was very good. The clean-up was excellent considering the amount of drilling done. The job was completed in a timely manner. It's been a few months now and the basement has been very dry and there have been no problems. It looks good.
Description of Work: Installation of 77 foot waterproofing system, sump pump and basin, ice filter, discharge line, high water alarm and battery backup pump and back flow valve. Additionally, they put in 30 feet of downspout line, sprayed potential mold areas and cleaned out the ash pit for a chimney we had never used. The latter was not a minor job. It appeared that the pit had never been cleaned out and the damp contents filled half of their pick-up truck.

Of three bids, HYDRA LLC was lowest (by half) and came highly recommended by Angie's customers. HYDRA's Pat Kirby talked me thru his plan: 11 steel beams and a wall anchor to strengthen the foundation; weep holes, a beneath-the-floor drainage system, and a sump pump to eliminate water pressure on walls; scraping, patching and parge coating to restore interior surfaces; and a new downspout to direct water away from house. He said it would take two-and-a-half days. Pat and foreman Ernesto kept on schedule and cleaned up each night. In the end, at no charge, they also strengthened the basement stair, added a battery back-up to the sump pump, and installed the new downspout. I now have a good looking and thoroughly functional basement which has greatly increased my home's usable living/storage space. I am extremely pleased with the work of HYDRA LLC and recommend the company to anyone with basement problems similar to mine.
Description of Work: Basement walls were cracked. Three of four were bowing inward. Interior surface was damp in some areas, badly flaking overall. Floor was wet after heavy rain. Spiders were everywhere. Problems unattended for decades had left basement damp, dirty, unpleasant, and generally unusable.

Great communication. All appointments made on time. Neat. Fast. Great price. They even fixed another two downspouts that had been installed improperly.
Description of Work: Some dampness along the basement wall was diagnosed as a broken/plugged downspout line. A new pipe was put in and run to street. The new hole that was drilled into the curb was very neat.

Pat thoroughly inspected the basement of our new home and suggested several options. We agreed that "watching and waiting" was the best course of action for right now. He was very professional, answered all my questions and more, and quoted a reasonable, competitive price.

I couldn't be happier with the work and crew. Pat did a great job, and so far it looks like the leaking has stopped. It took the crew about 2 days to complete the job. The previous owners of this 100 year old brick house spent $17,000 on basement reinforcement trying to fix this problem, and it didn't work. They should have called Pat!!!
Description of Work: Pat and his crew came out and spent over an hour evaluating our situation to give an estimate. We bought the house in July, and after a 15 hour rain, we had 2 inches of water in the basement. Pat really seemed to know what was causing the basement leak problem and how to solve it. He then was able to work us into his schedule very quickly. He installed a sump pump where there was none in the concrete floor, installed a waterproofing system in the walls, and did some outside drainage work. The whole time, the crew was professional and pleasant and covered things in the basement to protect it from the concrete dust.

He was punctual and professional, however, I did get a sales pitch and felt pressured. He called for follow-up twice, and I told him I was uncomfortable with the amount of pressure that he was putting on me. He wrote a letter apologizing. His estimate of $4327 was comparable to another estimate I received (this one did not include drains). He also gave me an estimate for sealing the crawl space $1573. Although I felt like they would do good work and he explained things to me, I agreed with the first company that gave me an estimate - that it was probably a lot of money for work I really did not need.

The condo had a small amount of water on the carpet in the basement The molding and the paneling were wet also. Pat returned my call immediately and came over to look at the problem. He told me the gutters and the downspout were not in the right spot and told me exactly what to do to solve the issue. He was prompt, courteous and extremely helpful. Although he didn't do the work, if I ever have a problem in the future, I would use Pat for sure!
Description of Work: Although I did not use Hydra to do the work (the job was too small and it was the condo's responsibility), Pat Kirby came over to the condo to analyze the issue and talked to me numerous times about how to solve the problem.

Tired of water coming into my basement after heavy rain, I located this company on Angie's List and liking what I read from other customers' comments, I contacted Mr. Kirby who came out the following day to analyze the situation. He and his foreman (Ernesto) are knowledgeable and came up with a plan to remedy the problem. The crew is efficient, were always on time, did neat work, were great to work with and are dedicated to customer satisfaction. I feel the price is fair and reasonable for the work done. I have hired many contractors over the years and I must say this is the best experience I've had dealing with same. Thanks, Pat!
Description of Work: Waterproofed my north basement wall and adjoining laundry room by digging up concrete floor, installing waterproofing system and "weep holes" (40 feet); removed old sump pump and installed a new one with battery back-up in a more suitable location, applied "ThoroSeal" to walls; installed a new drainage system from the downspout by going under an existing sidewalk though the back yard to the alley. Did a neat job replacing the sod and grass.

Pat Kirby is very professional, honest, and timely. His crew worked very efficiently. I have never had a harder working crew. They had to bust up the concrete and haul it away before putting the new system in. I have referred multiple people to them. His price was very reasonable compared to other larger, more prominent companies.
Description of Work: We bought a 30 year old home that had cracks in the poured basement walls. We had Pat come out to give an estimate on how to fix the problem. He did not try to sell us something we did not need. He put in 124 feet of interior perimeter drain system with a new cove drain, new sump pump, sealed the cracks, and new discharge line.

It was a very good experience. The work was done quickly, efficiently, and they cleaned up all areas before they left each day. The basement is now ready to finish and with a lifetime transferable warranty, someone could finish it with the comfort. I have already referred them to a friend and will do so again if the opportunity arises.
Description of Work: They tore out the cement floor bordering about one half of the basement and punched in new weep holes and finished it with Basement Drain Mains. They did not feel that it was necessary to do the whole basement, as there were no problems in the rest. The last step was to replace the cement. The work was excellent and the basement felt dry the next morning after completion. After the second day, the cement blocks are beginning to look dry. They also installed a new 4 inch pipe from the downspout to the curb. They took up sod from the area and replaced it after they were finished. In some places you can barely tell that work was done in the area.

After a year of researching ways to solve a water problem in my basement, I was dissatisfied with other companies: First, they appeared baffled as to how to solve the problem, and second, their quotes seemed outlandish. I discovered Hydra, called, and a Mr. Pat Kirby came out, diagnosed the problem, and offered an explanation of what he believed was a viable solution. Mr. Kirby returned with his foreman to confirm that the initial proposal was the correct solution. Hydra's crew was courteous, prompt, answered questions, and were so neat and clean that you could hardly tell that they were here. The workmanship was flawless. I lived with this problem for many years primarily because of the cost. Hydra provided a flexible financing arrangement that enabled me to complete the work. I am thrilled with the results. Now, I am able to refinish the basement for additional living space. I highly recommend Hydra to anyone who wants a reliable and dependable company to solve any basement problem.
Description of Work: Going through concrete floors on two levels of a split-level house, Hydra installed a concealed waterproofing system and a sump pump. The work was clean and flawless. They solved my basement water problem of many years.

Pat Kirby is a straight shooter. He gave me an estimate & time when work was to be done and stuck to it! His team partially rebuilt & reinforced my basement stairs before starting the job as a safety concern at no cost to me. Ernesto, the crew foreman, was a very competent fellow who orchestrated the installation with the absolute minimum inconvenience to me. I was impressed with the price and even more impressed with how they were concerned with doing a good job. They were top notch all around. I couldn t be happier with the service they provided! Thanks to Angie s List also because I would never have found this company otherwise :)
Description of Work: They installed a sump pump (where none previously existed), weephole/water-diverting system, and connected a discharge line to the street. They also installed new PVC from downspouts to the street curb.

Mr. Kirby was extremely reliable. He was always available by phone and would answer any questions or concerns. He was extremely polite and I found him to be very honest when describing the problems with my basement and the best solutions. He also understood my need for cost reasonableness and was very fair with his pricing. I do not feel like he skimped on the work in any way to meet my budget. I had a very good experience with Pat. He even made himself available for questions when he was on vacation. He and his workers were very, very clean. They would work during the day while I was at work and when I came home you would not have been able to tell they were there. I had no reservations letting him have access to my house when I was not home. I am very pleased with the work and have not seen any water, not even a drop, since the job was completed.

We had several vendors out to assess why we were getting water in two areas of our basement. The recommendation made by these other companies was to dig up the cement basement floor and install a drainage system and sump pump - costing in the thousands of dollars. Hydra suggested a different approach. After examining the underground downspout lines, they concluded that the lines were not flowing properly and the first step should be to repair them first. If this remedy was not successful, then we would discuss more drastic measures. I am happy to report that this less expensive solution accomplished the task and our basement has been dry ever since. The quality of the work was greatly appreciated. The crew was polite, answered questions and they went above and beyond the norm - the excavated area was covered neatly with the previously dug sod so you could hardly tell that any digging had occurred. I have recommended Hydra to friends and co-workers and will continue to do so.
Description of Work: Hydra installed two underground downspout lines termininating at the curb and repaired an elbow on an existing line.
