Pat Kirby, the owner of this company, did all he could to make this process a positive experience before, during and after the work was done. He explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions. His crew of three were capable and polite and actually fun to have around. Mr. Kirby checked daily to see that the work was being done according to his high standards and the homeowners (my) wishes. He even organized the process so that it wouldn't disturb the comings and goings of my neighbors with whom I share a driveway. I was pleased with the entire experience and would not hesitate to recommend this company to others.

They are very price competitive. The service level and commitment to customer satisfaction is unsurpassed in any contractor I've worked with on Angie's List or otherwise. There were several unexpected complications outside the control of the contractor, and Pat's team went above and beyond what I could've expected. I hope our water problems are now resolved, but if they are not, I know that Pat and Hydro will stand by me to the end of it.

I was very pleased with the services they provided, it worked out very nicely. They did have some minor crew member changes throughout process. They did run into some minor issues in the installation of the walls, that they did correct.
Description of Work: They installed a new sump pump. They also installed a new drain in the basement to prevent it from flooding. I also had them install specialty walls (therm-dry wall) to help with the flooding. They cleaned out the crawl space and installed a plastic covering over it.

They analyzed the problem. It worked out very well. The price was very reasonable for what they did. They did a good job. The pump they installed failed because of some dirt in the line, but they replaced it very quickly.

My house is on the market and Pat was great in working with me. He explained all the options and the pros/cons of each without pressuring me. He worked to get the project done quickly and with the least impact possible. His team showed up on time, were very polite, and cleaned up after themselves. Pat even offered to talk to any potential home buyers that might have questions about the system installed.

Pat, the owner of the company, completed our estimate. He was excellent to say the least. We live in an old 1920's home, in which at some point a basement waterproofing system had been put in (we had no documentation of this as it was previous owners that had the work completed). The system we had was failing and we had water coming into one room of the basement. Pat took the time to thoroughly inspect our current system and explained very clearly our options. Pat was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and willing to hear our concerns and needs. We ended up discovering that the company that originally installed the system would honor a warranty and so we decided to go with them. However, if we were planning to live in this house for longer we most definitely would have gone w/ Hydra and had them redo the entire system. Pat was excellent to work with and his product was very high quality.
Description of Work: We got an estimate for fixing the basement waterproofing system that we currently had. The estimate was by far the best price we were given. For fixing the one room w/ the problem, est was $1600. For redoing the whole system, est was $6000. Compared to the other estimate we got from a well known basement company, this estimate was about $1500 lower.

The project went almost exactly as described to us. Pat Kirby provided thoughtful consultation before providing a bid, and stayed personally involved throughout the process. The entire project was completed in just three days, which I thought was amazingly fast. In some cases, quick turnaround means the contractor took shortcuts. But I felt Hydra provided a high level of professionalism and skill at every phase of the project. The site manager, Ernesto, is a good guy who really knows his stuff. He doesn't mind answering questions and explaining what's happening. A project like this is pretty heavy surgery, so it's nice to know it's in good hands. So far, the system has worked as promised. Thanks, Pat!

I requested an estimate and Pat Kirby came out to assess the situation and provide the cost for a new primary and backup sump pump. The existing sump pump was on it's last leg. I also inquired about a crawlspace liner, which I initially did not know that Hydra offered. The following week Pat's crew arrived as expected and performed the entire job in about 3.5 hours. The crew was respectful of our house and worked efficiently. Pat arrived in the morning when the job started and followed up 30 minutes after the job was completed. He was very thorough in his explanations and patient with all inquires. I received 6 bids for the sump pump job and of those companies; only 1 other offered to do an on site estimate. Hydra was the most thorough and reasonably priced.
Description of Work: Removed an existing sump pump and installed a Zoeller primary pump and Watchdog battery powered backup pump. Cleaned out crawlspace and installed a while liner covering the walls and gravel surface.

I have a small puddle of water in my crawl space during very wet conditions. Pat and Ernesto evaluated the situation and recommended a sump pump for the area. They didn't try to pressure me into having the work done. They didn't try to sell me what I didn't need. The work was done quickly, neatly, and with high quality materials. I was very pleased with the whole process.

Pat Kirby was informative and ethical throughout, and the crew did a fabulous job. The bid was a little over half the price of a competitor. Then we got a few hundred dollars off by agreeing to be scheduled at the last minute if he ended up with an empty week in August. They tore up little of our lawn in installing the downspout drains because they were able to either hook into or thread new pipe through the old pipes. They even leveled off a dip in the corner of our 1915 basement floor when they didn't have to. They also hooked the drain line from our air conditioner into the drainage system at the nearest wall, so we no longer have a plastic pipe lying across our floor to trip us. The work was done in three days and they left the basement cleaner than we left it for them. Best of all, the August 2007 thunderstorms hit right after the job was done, and not a drop of water is in the basement, where we had rivers running across the floor with each rain before.
Description of Work: Installed drain system around basement floor interior perimeter and shield over cracks around lower half of walls at back of house; installed sump pump with battery back-up; patched floor in work area with concrete and replaced broken floor drain; installed exterior underground drain pipes from downspouts, through yard, under sidewalk to street. (Also moved washer, dryer and heavy items away from walls and re-hooked appliances when job complete.)

Overall it went great. Ernesto and his team made a follow-up visit to my home as planned to torque my new adjustable beams they had installed back in February. The walls had actually receded, which loosened the beams, requiring them the be torqued tighter. Prior to their visit Pat Kirby informed me that to make up for the painting confusion (on previous report) he'll continue to torque the beams (every six months according to Ernesto)until my basement walls are straightened. This was an unexpected, class move on Pat's part. I look forward to continuing to work with Hydra.

He would call me back immediately. He negotiated on price. He tore down a wall to see if any work needed to be done, and convinced me that the work needed to be done. He was very fatherly in his advice. He even called to make sure I was going to call Angie's List! He was very conscientious in pleasing me and making sure I was happy with the work.
Description of Work: He had his crew cut out the drywall, insulation, and wooden planks, which were nailed to the wall, then patched up the hole and waterproofed the wall. We had a hard rain last night and the room is not leaking, which assured me that water would not come through.

Pat Kirby, Ernesto and company did an EXCEPTIONAL JOB from start to finish. During his estimate visit, Pat took great care to examine the problem and give me his recommendations. He answered all questions fairly and honestly. Once the contract was signed, Pat kept in touch and scheduled the job at my convenience. I never once felt like I had "been forgotten." The installation crew is top notch! These guys were on time every morning and they worked diligently all day. Everyone in the company was courteous and respectful, and they know their stuff! Ernesto, the crew leader, kept me informed as the job progressed and made some great suggestions as well. Pat and his company really care about customer satisfaction and are willing to do those extra things that mean the difference between a good job and a great job. The system works great and I am extremely happy with the outcome. I highly recommend this company to anyone needing basement waterproofing.
Description of Work: Ernesto and his crew installed an interior waterproofing system in my basement. This entailed jackhammering a trench along the perimeter walls, removing and discarding a set of stationary tubs, installing a drainage system, installing a sump pump with a sealed lid and replacing/refinishing the concrete where the trench had been dug. As part of the system, they also installed new drain pipes on the exterior of both sides of the house to carry water to the street. In addition to the waterproofing work, the crew also scraped and repainted the walls and ceiling of a small coal bin chamber that is adjacent to my basement, installed a new floor drain and sprayed the inside basement walls in order to eliminate the mold and mildew that was growing there. The crew took care to cover items in the basement with plastic and to lay a cover over their path to the kitchen door. They also did an excellent job of cleaning up once the job was completed.

This is by far the best experience I've had with any work done on my home! Pat Kirby was extremely polite and covered absolutely every detail when going over what the problems were and what choices I had to rectify them, and he tirelessly answered my many questions. Even though Hydra has an extensive list of good reports on Angie's List, he did not hesitate when I asked for a list of references in my neighborhood I could also call. I received two other estimates as well and Pat's price beat them, even with hand-digging the trenches through the yards so my sidewalks did not have to be dug up! Because of my extremely busy work schedule, Pat and his construction supervisor, Ernesto took from their own time to come to my home on a Saturday morning to answer more questions, in person. Ernesto and his crew were polite, quick and extremely efficient, and left everything in perfect order. There isn't enough space here to give Pat, Ernesto and their crew the praise they deserve! A+++!
Description of Work: Excessive amount of debris and insulation removed from extremely hard-to-access crawlspace under house (through tiny opening in a deck). All lowest level cement blocks drilled from inside crawlspace to allow moisture to escape into crawlspace area, which was then partially re-excavated and drainage pipe installed. Crawlspace area leveled, sump pump installed, moisture barrier plastic sheeting installed. Gutter downspout drains all around house buried underground and pipe placement hand-dug from front of house to street, including under all sidewalks. Holes for pipe neatly drilled in curb to allow drainage to street sewer. Pop-up drain installed in remote area in back yard away from house to remove water. All debris hauled away & all areas of yard and deck cleaned of debris and dirt/mud.

They do excellent work! I interviewed 4 other companies and went with Hydra LLC because Pat knew his business and seemed like he would treat the job as his own home and he did. We knew one area had to be dug up, but to try to save us money, they tried to rework the drainage outside in another area. That didn't fix the problem, so they came back to do the second area. They covered the entrance area to the work area so they wouldn't damage existing flooring and carpeting. They put up plastic between work zone and other room to keep mess confined. Then when finished and took up all the coverings they wiped everything down. I had many questions during the process and Ernesto (the team leader) was very patient and took the time to explain the details to me. I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Pat's team dug up existing concrete around perimeter of area where their system was to be installed. Drilled new weep holes, installed a new sump pump, installed their system then poured new cement.

Knowing that I needed to get professional help for my basement, I researched Angie's List for contractors with previous grades of A. The second number I called was Hydra LLC & Pat Kirby, the owner. Truth be told it was the only number I needed to call as Pat agreed to stop by that very day. Right from the start Pat was friendly and professional, he took a quick look around and then spent a few minutes getting to know me. The second time Pat came back we looked in depth at my problem and then discussed the manner in which Pat and his crew would fix my problem. Pat called me two days later and I agreed to hire Hydra to take care of my basement. The estimate to do the work was reasonable, and contained no hidden costs(everything was up front). I can't say enough about foreman Edjuardo and his crew, they treated my home as if it was theirs and worked hard to do a complete job. I feel lucky that Edjuardo was in charge of the job. Long story short, thanks Pat & Hydra for a job well done.
Description of Work: Hydra was contracted to install steel beams in order to brace two bowing basement walls. Hyrda also installed waterproofing measures to insure that all water was being properly directed to my sump pump. Hydra also increased the size of my sump system and fixed my outside drain lines.

Pat spend quite a bit of time finding out what was happening in our basement, looked at pictures we had taken of back yard drainage problems, and even made suggestions regarding our yard which we could do ourselves to help alleviate some of the problem. He quickly had a detailed estimate, far below what others had wanted, and for a better system. Pat, Ernesto and his crew were efficient, innovative, prompt, courteous, neat, and honest. They made several suggestions, which we decided to act on, and one or two we chose not to do. Through it all, there was no sales pressure, just an apparent interest in getting the job done well and making the right decision about what to do the first time. Even with the additional things we had them do, they were finished in 3 days. They even left our basement cleaner than they found it! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HYDRA!
Description of Work: Hydra LLC had two parts to their service. They installed a perimeter drainage system in our basement, including a new sump pit, pump, and backup pump, replaced a support post in our basement, and rerouted most of our outside downspout drainage. They routed the majority of our roof drainage around the house, well hidden just underground, tied it in with the sump drainage, installed a 4 inch pipe to accommodate the extra water flow, and routed it to the street.
