Hydra Basement Waterproofing

Pat gave me an estimate and originally said that he would not be able to do the work until the end of October. When he called to see if I had decided on a compalny to do the work, i told him that he had the best price, but I did not want to wait until the end of October to have the work done. He then said he could come out the following week. The other 2 contractors siad that hey did not need to pull a permit in Upper Arlington to instiall new drains, but Pat disagreed. He siad that he need to pull one, but that Arlington didn't charge for it. I appreciated that he knew this, and I did confirm it before the work was done with the building permit office in UA. His crew arrived on time and did a good job. They replaced the sod so that I wouldn't have as much grass seed to plant. My only disappointment was that they left many rocks in my flower beds and in my compost bins. i never thought that I had to tell them that rocks will never compost!

He does not charge me anything because I bought the beams from them years ago. They are professional and cost effective. They are very efficient.

They were prompt and professional. I would recommend them and hire again.

It went well. The gentleman came out and did a walk though. He was very detailed, he sat down and discussed procedures that he would do. It was a very honest response that I appreciated. He also followed up with an email proposal if I wanted to go with them.

The problem turned out to be a broken water main a few houses up, but Pat Kirby showed up within an hour of my phone call to him to alert him to a possible problem. He sent out a service man to repair a broken part in a valve caused by the excessive city water running through our system. Once the main broke, resulting in a massive outpouring that pooled at the end of our street, and the city did the necessary repairs, Pat sent out another person to be sure everything was in working order--at NO cost for a 4-year-old system. You don't get service like that very often in this day and age. Kudos to Pat and Hydra from this satisfied customer. AND our basement remained bone dry throughout the entire 5-day ordeal.

Our experience with Hyrdra was very good. The owner, Pat Kirby, was very involved from start to finish. He communicated with us each day the work was being done, and came by in person to check on the work. He was also always quick to return phone calls and answer questions. Pat was very considerate about the construction mess being contained as much as possible and took every precaution imaginable. This work was completed during one of the wettest springs on record. We had the work done in April and then were lucky enough to have the system thoroughly tested for several weeks with torrential downpours. I'm happy to say our basement is bone dry and we have been able to replace the ruined carpet and drywall with confidence. I will recommend Hydra to anyone I know who has the misfortune of needing their services.

I was certain that Pat Kirby and his crew would be able to determine what was causing the problem and appreciated how quickly they were able to respond to my call for help. They assessed the problem and were able to dig a few exploratory holes in the front lawn for their diagnostics. They repaired the drains by removing obstructions and got the water flowing properly from the gutters and drainspouts to the underground drainage system. We have had no further problems.

He was very professional and thorough in both his assessment and explanation of what his plan of attack would be. I have not yet had the work done due to it being more than I can handle financially at this time (up to $5,000), but I will most likely use Hydra when I'm ready.

It went great! Wow. Can't say enough good things about this outfit. Hydra Basement does excellent work and these guys actually care if your basement gets wet! Poor Pat Kirby raced to our house through a thunderstorm, when the electric went out to our neighborhood, afraid our basement might flood (we were still in the process of installing the battery backup system to the sump pump). Their actions proved they actually care about the job even after they've been paid. They take pride in their work AND reputation - which explains why they get extensive referral business. A friend recommended them to us, that's how we heard about them. This isn't some business you call and get an answering machine. Pat Kirby personally answers the phone and addresses the problem. We really appreciate that. We bought a 1958 house four years ago. Every spring, groundwater swells up and floods the basement low spots. Fifty years of moisture, and the basement mold was so bad we gutted the "finished" basement, and sprayed 8 gallons of Chlorox into the rafters, then let it air out for 3 years. Pat Kirby and his crew installed the French drain last October, and we finally RE-finished the basement into a nice carpeted living room this winter, and for the first time in 4 years....NO WATER! The carpet stayed totally dry this winter. So glad our friend recommended Hydra Basement. We'll recommend Hydra to other homeowners with mold, mildew and wet basement problems. Thanks to the French Drain and the thick, plastic vapor barrier Hydra installed in the crawl space ....the air down the basement has never been fresher or healthier. The guys came in, worked long days, didn't jump from job to job. They concentrated on our house, removed the rubble, got the job done quickly and cleaned up in 3 days. They were courteous, pleasant and polite. They stuck to their time schedule and contained most of the dust with an air purifying machine and plastic tarps. They did hard work (thank God it wasn't us doing the work this time!) and even though it was kind of pricey, they earned their wages because it was a ton of work. This is one job we hired out and we're glad we did!! We'd still be hauling rubble up the stairs if it weren't for Hydra Basement :) Thanks to Pat Kirby, Rich Pomales and crew. Pat, the owner, was a very nice guy. He didn't pressure me to purchase things. Also he was easy to work with. He gave us advise on things that we could do ourselves. He seemed like he did things for our benefit, and he was timely and honest. They had competitive prices too.

Met with Hydra. Explained their procedure and alternative methods of repair. Backed up explanations with photo's of different procedures. Gave me an estimate on cost of repairs and how long it would take. Job completed per estimate in less than time projected. Cost based on price per I-Beam.

He did a wonderful job. Showed up on time and completed the work in a timely manor. I would recommend him to others.

They did an excellent job. He was very responsive and told me exactly what to expect. He told me what would and wouldn't be accomplished by this and gave me an excellent guarantee. His people came in and cleaned up after themselves. They were prompt. I would highly recommend them.

Hydra had a problem in that they were initially unable cut though our concrete floor to put the drain in. Several days later they were back and were able to complete the job as promised. Very nice workers.

Went OK. They had to come back to repair plumbing that was not done correctly the first time.

They were awesome Pat came out quickly explained everything that needed to be done in detail, and explained several things that were not necessary and why. Pat gave us a list of things we could do ourselves and most importantly when to do it. The crew came out on schedule, they were great, very nice and helpful, they even helped us move things out of the way. They were very professional, and careful not to damage anything in the house or outside. they had to work around a very large delicate fish tank, they were wonderful about it. They cleaned up after themselves so well you'd never know they were here. We can not recommend them highly enough. After the job was finished we had a few questions, Pat was out the next day and answered all of our questions.

We were pleased with the quick response and the speed in which he worked up a response. We just decided to go with something a little more traditional and chose another company, but haven't moved forward because of other financial obligations. Also before you dig up a basement floor you have to clean up the basement. I have nothing bad to say about Hydra. The estimates all came in around the same amount. I think it was the owner who came out. He explained everything thoroughly, took a lot of time to answer questions and came in with pictures and diagrams so we could see what he was talking about. Sometimes you just have to go with the person that you will work best with, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the person you don't chose. I didn't feel uncomfortable with Hydra and I wouldn't have any problem with them being in my house.

We had two areas with some dampness along the bottom of the block walls. Although we had another vendor install drainage and a sump pump around about 50% of the basement several years ago, two small areas had not been done, and asked Pat at Hydra to review the situation. Although a portion of the work was difficult to access, the workers were able to install drainage in that area, as well as in another location. The job was performed when planned, and the new sections were tied in to the existing drainage in the basement. The price was very reasonable for the work performed, although the job took some creativity to resolve the hard-to-reach section that was drained. We highly recommend Hydra for basement drainage work.

They did not charge us to come out. My husband met with them and said the he was really impressed with the gentleman that was here. He was very professional and very knowledgeable. He was very honest about us not needing the work because he could have told us that we needed something done because we thought we did, which was why we called them. We had two other companies come out and tell us that we did not need the work also, so we have faith in what he told us. We appreciated that he was forthright about it. I would definitely recommend them. We felt like they gave us a straight forward answer and that it was based on a lot of experience and that they knew what they were talking about it. We would believe them if we contacted them again and they told us we needed work done.

We met Mr. Kirby when he came out to the house during the awful snows in February 2010. We had water coming in through a wall, and we were fearful about the causes and consequences. Mr. Kirby assessed the situation and decided that no immediate action was necessary because it seemed like a fluke of the extreme weather. He turned out to be right about that. Meanwhile, during the visit, he found the other leak and recommended the downspout replacement. His workers were courteous, professional, and incredibly neat; when they were finished, it was difficult to see where they'd dug up the yard. I'd recommend Mr. Kirby and his company in a heartbeat.

From the minute we phoned them Mr. Kirby could not have been more professional, nicer or more knowledgeable. It was a wonderful experience. It was anything we could have asked for. I did make one phone call before I called Mr. Kirby and explained the situation in the basement. His response was terrible. He gave excuses not to come over. I gave the same information to Mr. Kirby and he said that it would not be a problem to come out and evaluate the situation. My initial problem might have been a couple of hundred-dollar fix; before the end of the day it was thousands and that first guy missed out on it. It was not trumped up work; it was legitimate work. His price was fair.
