Hydra Basement Waterproofing

Since my leaking hadn't happened again I said I would like to wait and see. He did not try to pressure me into getting it fixed right away and said the estimate would not change and to call him if/when I needed. He also mentioned that his workers are full time - paid whether there is work or not, and not contractors. I will use this company if needed and would recommend them.

Hydra was very professional throughout the entire period of crawlspace repairs and waterproofing. I initially met with 4 different basement waterproofing companies and although the quotes were in a similar price range (~$6500-$7500), I had the best impression with Pat Kirby of Hydra. Pat took the most time to thoroughly assess the problem in my crawlspace and was very attentive to my concerns. Initially the quotes I received were solely for crawlspace waterproofing. Unfortunately, my main sewage drain became clogged and sewage backed up into the crawlspace and mixed with rainwater before work began. Fortunately, Pat and his crew agreed to remove all sewage-contaminated materials and treat the area with lime and anabec. This work in addition to installing a perimeter drain, sump pump, encapsulation and an exterior drain line for the gutter downspouts brought the total cost of the job to $8800. This is quite a lot, but when considering everything that was done in my crawlspace and how well the work was performed, it was well worth the cost. Since Pat and his crew performed the work, my crawlspace has been completely dry and smells pleasant for the first time in months. Previously my entire house smelled of sewage! We had an unusually wet December with heavy rain in addition to snow melt, yet the crawlspace has remained completely dry! I highly recommend Hydra to anyone dealing with water issues in their basement or crawlspace.

Called three companies to get estimate on waterproofing our basement. All three were on time each did a thought job of defining the problem and providing the cost of repair. The Hydro Co. was the lowest bidder by far, and I was a little skeptical if they would do as good a job as the other two because of the price differences. I needn't have worried! They did and excellent job and when addition problems were found(plumbing)I was informed on what was needed to fix the problems and the additional cost.This was done at a very fair price and both the waterproofing and additional problems were completed in a timely manner. The entire crew were extremely professional : arriving on time stated, were very courteous and friendly, and always cleaned up before leaving. I Highly recommend this company to anyone considering basement waterproofing.

Workers arrived on time and were very nice. They covered everything in the finished basement with plastic to protect from all the dust. They had to take out ceiling tiles and cut/pull back carpet. The job got done in 2 days and clean up was very good. I was kind of surprised that Mr. Kirby did not come and check on progress or finish but his foreman was very good and handled everything just fine.

Excellent service, professional, thorough

They were fantastic, work was started on Wednesday and ended at noon on Friday. There was zero dust upstairs, because they used air scrubbers. The carpet on my basement steps wasn't ruined and they also moved the washer and dryer and put them back after the work was done. They were very professional and now my basement doesn’t leak water, it had been for the last 20 years.

While preparing our home for sale, we discovered some water damage to the finished wall in one corner of the basement (in the corner of a closet.) We removed the damaged section of the finished wall and called three basement waterproofing firms to give us their opinions as to what needed to be done to fix the problem. Two of the companies came out and told me that the problem might be downspout related, but to make sure that the problem was fixed, I needed to install a full or partial perimeter drainage system, which involved tearing up the basement floor and considerable cost. When I spoke to Pat Kirby of Hydra Basement Waterproofing on the phone, he told me that it sounded like a downspout issue, but agreed to come out and take a look at the wall. When he inspected the wall, he said that the water pattern on the wall clearly showed that it was a downspout or storm drain issue. He said that he would install a perimeter drainage system if I wanted one, but that, before incurring that expense we should contact a drain company to inspect our underground storm drain pipe to make sure that it was not leaking (a service his company did not provide). He recommended Drain Brains. Drain Brains came out and determined that we did have a leak in our underground drain pipe. When they dug it up, they found a clearly damaged section of pipe which they replaced. After a couple of subsequent rains, the basement remained completely dry. Both of the other waterproofing companies acknowledged that the problem might be a downspout or storm drain problem, but neither suggested that we pursue that alternative first. Hydra (Pat Kirby) not only suggested that we pursue that alternative first, he was very forceful in doing so. His advice not only lead to our fixing the source of the problem, but also to our saving several thousand dollars.

Hydra did a fantastic job and we couldn't be happier. We were so bummed when our basement (partially finished) started leaking water in. After talking to several companies, we hired Hydra to "waterproof" and install a sump pump in the basement of our 75 year old home. Owner, Pat Kirby was a pleasure to work with - seemed very honest, punctual, and knowledgeable about basements and their water woes. His crew was fantastic, and worked extremely hard for three long days. The basement looks great and we were so appreciative of the care taken to do minimal damage to the "finished" portion of the basement. We are pleased with the results and feel confident that our basement will be nice and dry. Thanks bunches, Hydra!

I was preparing my mother's home to sell. The basement had a leak in one of the corner walls. The walls were beginning to bow. The owner of the company assessed the possible cause of the problem, two of the roof downspouts were not connected to the underground drain that carries the rain water out to the curb. So rainwater was settling into the foundation of the house. The crew did their work very efficiently, they finished as scheduled in few days. The sump pump that was installed had a back up battery, so that if there was a power outage it would continue to work. We were happy with their work.

Excellent. From our first meeting with Pat, he was very detailed in explaining exactly what the problem was, what needed to be done to resolve the problem and the reason why this system works. On top of that, the quote provided was half of what others were quoting! Once the work began, it was found that there was a significant amount of mold behind the drywall. Pat did whatever we asked to get the job done right. Mold remediation, drywall, framing and carpet removal. All at minimal cost above the original estimate. Pat's crew worked efficiently and professionally throughout the project. They were on time every day, polite, considerate. Overall, I couldn't ask for or expect anything more!

This was an excellent experience. I have a 100 year old home, with a 100 year old basement. Based on my experiences my basement was in ok shape, but I wanted to get it looked at. They gave me an honest assessment and I valued thier opinion. Top Notch here!

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Can't say enough about this company. Told us we didn't need some of the services we were told to have done by someone else, explained why we needed to take a different approach (the one the other recommended was not to code). We truly wanted to use this company. Unfortunately, we were doing the work in our son's basement as part of a basement remodel we are helping him with and he went with the original contractor because he was cheaper. Well, duh! He repaired the current system which is tied into the sanitary sewer (not to code, but not illegal because of the age of the house), didn't install a sump pump and didn't divert the downspouts into the street. I was so mad that I couldn't get through to our son how short sighted he was being.

It's good. Actually, we're going to use them. They're on our wait list right now. We were happy with them and their offer. They are less invasive. They have a filtration system that they can use while they're digging.

Mr. Kirby arrived on time and even called ahead to confirm our appointment. We discussed the problems which we were having and Mr. Kirby went into the crawl space to examine the areas in question. To our surprise, he told us that he didn't think we had a major problem which needed his company's help! He did tell us that there were some issues which needed to be addressed to correct our moisture issue. He made suggestions to us as to what could be causing the problems and made suggestions on how we should systematically try several minor solutions to address them. Just to be certain he was correct, he examined the other areas of the basement and also examined the exterior of the house. After giving us his advice, Mr. Kirby offered his future help of being a sounding board and helping to determine what else we could try if those solutions didn't fix the problem. My husband and I were so impressed with his honesty and integrity. We had another basement person out to the house previously who had told us we needed a basement waterproofing system. I would highly recommend Hydra Basement Waterproofing to anyone who is having basement issues!

They have very good communication, He has a lot of integrity to do the work that needed to be done and he's very honest. He figured out what needed to be done and did that without any extra stuff.

They were wonderful. They did a beautiful job. They were clean and when they left you wouldn't know that they had been here. They take all my stuff off and swept up and I was very impressed. They were very professional, probably one of the best, I am used to be building contractor so I have to say that I am pretty picky and they can't pull the roll over my eyes so I know what they had to do, they did exactly how it should have been, they were professional, wonderful, prompt, fun to work with, just very very good and the price is right because I had basement doctor was arrogant and rude and considering I was a women just really was going to be frustrated with me. After receiving a quote and agreeing on a price, we scheduled to have a basement waterproofing system installed by Hydra. We were told that when the job was started the workers would be on OUR job until it was completed. This was importatnt to us because too many times in the past contractors would start a project only to leave for another job, and ours seemed to be put on a back burner. True to their word, Mark, John, and Rich were on the job every day until completion. When the job started Hydra sealed off the entire basement with plastic, and then brought in two portable air filtration units, all in an effort to keep our basement as clean and dust free as possible.The project was handled in a very professional manner from start to finish. Not only was time taken to explain to us what was going to be undertaken on any given day, extra time was taken to explain to us everything that had been completed on a daily basis. When unexpected issues arose that were not addressed in the original quote all of our options were explained to us in detail, and we were able to make decisions without the slightest hint of pressure. The overall attention to detail by everyone involved, the professional attitude, and obviously high skill level of the work crew, combined with the exceptional appearance of the completed project, all contributed to making this project a pleasant one. Pat Kirby, the owner of Hydra, was always available to us and was a consistant presence in our home making sure we were happy and to answer any questions. We are very pleased with the work that Hydra did and would recommend them to anyone.

He communicated regulary to keep us informed of exactly when his crew would be here and confirmed the time of arrival both the day before and morning of service. His crew, led by his foreman, Mark, were clean cut, well spoken and professional. The foreman, Mark, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful and went the extra distance to make sure that we were kept informed, assured that there were no major problems and that all the little "details" were taken care of. I had previously replaced gutters and done everything else I could to stop the water leakage during the spring and heavy downpours. This was the last step and one I had hoped I wouldn't need to do at all. The other methods certainly helped, but it was still necessary to go this one last step. I was very impressed with Hydra on every level. Pat was patient while I asked question after question, sought the advice of a friend and finally gave the ok. Mark and the guys showed up promptly every day, worked diligently, and did a great job cleaning up. Unfortunately, my mother was released from the hospital just as Hydra was starting, so a poor or even average experience would have greatly added to my stress level. It did not.

Pat responed to my call very quickly. He came out and assessed my problem. He gave me options and benefits of each. After I made a choice, he provided me via email with a full estimate of costs. Upon scehduling, his crew(including Pat) arrived on time with all supplies. The members of the crew were all knowledgeable about the job, not just the crew chief. They protected my carpet and also limited the amout of dust that was produced from travaling to other parts of the house. They cleaned up and removed all trash when they were done.

Pat's crew came out twice to put in steel for my basement. They went in and did their job terrific. Their clean up was amazing. They were here when they said they would be, it took the amount of time they said it would. I can't say enough about how good they were. Highly recommend this company.
