Very well. Scott came over to our house and provided a very reasonable estimate which was 75% lower than a previous estimate we had received from another company. Scott was available to perform the work as soon as we needed it done. Once the work began, it was necessary for Scott to perform the drywall, sanding, spackling and painting over a three day period. On all three visits to our home, Scott was extremely punctual, professional and a pleasure to have around. In additional, he worked very efficiently and we were quite satisfied with the end result. This was one of the better experiences we have had over the years with professionalism, reliability and quality of work. We will definitely use this company again on future occasions.
Description of Work: We needed drywall and painting work performed in our kitchen ceiling due to some earlier plumbing work.

We are very pleased with our partial bathroom remodel. Scott was at our home every day redoing our tub/shower, plumbing, fixtures, painting and whatever else needed done. He was a pleasure to work with, and I had no concerns leaving him alone or with just our nanny and toddler in the home. The bathroom looks great. They do quality work and at a reasonable price and just seem like very nice, hard working, and honest people. Highly recommend!!

This isn't the first time I worked with Doug and Scott. Doug did this job on his own. I trust him completely to do the job to the best of his ability, and to do it quickly. As before, I couldn't be more pleased with the work that he did.

Excellent! On-time. Easy communication.
Description of Work: This is the first time I used the services from Home Remedies. It will not be the last. I have a rental property that needed to have the bathroom vanity and sink replaced. The tenant had called on Tuesday evening. I contacted Home Remedies that same evening and received a call back at 7:00pm that evening, The tenant had asked for a Friday afternoon appointment and he was able to meet that request. I ordered the vanity on-line and Home Remedies picked it up from the store and delivered it to the property. Communication was easy. Mostly done by text and email with a few follow up phone calls. I will be using Home Remedies again.

Scott and Doug were very responsive, friendly and professional. The quality of the work was excellent! Scott cleaned up (which is very important to me!) as he went along. He was quiet when we were in the house (no blaring music-also important) and considerate. Will definitely hire again! Highly recommend!

Doug and Scott we fantastic to work with and very professional during their time in my house. The complete project took about 3 weeks and they showed up everyday at the time they said they would. Scott really helped us come up with some solutions to some issues that came up as the work was being completed. The attention to detail was great and made sure that the job was done right. After completion of the project, I gave Scott a call the next day because of one more item that I wanted addressed and he responded the same day and showed up his next available time to complete even though it was not in the original plan. I would highly recommend Home Remedies for home projects and will be sure to call them for my next one.

Scott and Doug did great work. They were always very punctual and accommodating when we changed the scope of the work (like adding the exposure of a brick wall). We felt that they gave us a practical timeline for the project completion and stuck to that timeline. We had an issue with the sink after the work was completed and Scott was over the next day to get it fixed. We trusted them to be in the house when we were at work and they were very kind to our dogs. We were very happy with their work product and would definitely use them in the future.
Description of Work: We hired Scott and Doug to redo our kitchen and laundry room. They were a full service contractor who did all of the work we needed: demo work, exposing one of the brick walls, repairing walls, created a new smooth ceiling, installed can lights, added outlets, installed gas lines, moved plumbing for the sink, installed the cabinets and installed all of our appliances.
Doug and Scott were great! They completed our project quickly and to our satisfaction, for an affordable price. They showed up early every day and worked steadily to minimize the disruption to our routines. They were attentive to detail and maintained good communication. They also were flexible as our project evolved. Doug and Scott are also entertaining people to have around the house, are good spirited, and work extremely well together as a team. We're so happy to have worked with them and look forward to doing so again. Thanks!
Description of Work: Removal of load bearing internal wall to create combined kitchen/dining area, exposure of old brickwork, repainting of kitchen and bathroom, installation of new flooring, kitchen cabinets, sink, backsplash tile, drywall, pegboad storage wall, new window and lighting.
Everything went very well. Doug and Scott were a pleasure to work with. They always made sure I was completely satisfied with their work and allowed me a voice in how certain things would be completed.
Description of Work: Had a list of about 10 "handyman" items. Some of which included: Rebuilding railing and stairs on deck, building and installing a new bulkhead door, frame/drywall over brick wall, install mantel, install new tile in front of and inside mantel, fix piece of siding that had come off, and custom carpentry work to hide unused pocket door openings.
Things went very well. Doug and Scott were very receptive to my needs and were willing to rework a few things to meet my satisfaction. They were always on time and respectful to my property. The work took about 2 weeks (on and off) to complete. I would certainly hire them again and recommend to my friends/family.
Description of Work: Rebuild steps and railing on deck, build new bulkhead door, build/frame a wall in bedroom, set tile in and around a mantel, custom carpentry work on existing trim...along with a few other minor fixes.
We are happy with the work that Doug and Scott from Home Remedies did on our home. They are prompt, pleasant, professional and dependable. They show up consistently at the time when they say they will be there, and are some of the hardest working people I have seen. Even our neighbor (who sometimes observed them them from his porch) commented to us on their dependability and work ethic! I felt comfortable having them in my home. Having them around actually was a pleasure, and they were very kind to my family, including our little daughter. They did good work, and in the instances where I wasn't completely satisfied with something, they were responsive and made it right without complaint. Scott did the majority of our project, with Doug pitching in as needed (and to do the painting). They make a good, balanced team because Doug's strength is keeping things on schedule, and Scott's is attention to detail. I felt that they were looking out for the best interests of our project and our pocketbook. I thought we were going to need to have some expensive new custom kitchen cabinets made to match existing, historic ones that we were keeping. (Home Remedies does not make custom cabinets or custom doors, although they did make wood trim that matched the original trim in our old house.) However, Scott suggested that I buy ready-made, stock cabinets onto which he could install custom doors that match the old ones. He gave me the name of someone who makes custom cabinet doors at a very reasonable price. We followed through on his cabinet suggestions, which resulted in a beautiful end product and saved us over $5,000! As for the scope of the work done, a lot of the work was somewhat cosmetic because we did not change the footprint of the rooms or the location of windows, doors, sink, stove, etc. In the family room, everything else was gutted down to the studs. The main work there was installation of new windows, new doors, new drywall on the ceiling and walls, new trim and moldings, updated outlets, baseboard heaters, a new floor, and building a wall and frame to accommodate a new pocket door. In the kitchen, they installed a new hardwood floor, a portion of new cabinets that they detailed to match the existing ones that we were keeping, new outlets, constructed new shelving in existing cabinets, new lighting, a slide-out trashcan under the sink, a new sink and faucet, a new tile backsplash (Scott's tile work is perfection), all new cabinet hardware, a stove hood/fan, and changed the swing direction of our new refrigerator and modified a cabinet above to accommodate it. (We had a granite fabricator do our new countertops because the wholesaler of the granite that we chose would only work with certain large fabricators that specialize only in installing countertops.) Unlike large design/build firms, Scott and Doug ask the homeowner to independently research and choose most of the renovation materials, so I did all the leg work of researching and ordering most of the materials (eg. flooring, doors, light fixtures, faucet, sink, tile, etc.) with some advice from them here and there. This was time consuming for me, but saved us quite a bit of money in the long run compared to estimates we received from the larger design/build firms who walk you through this process and do the ordering for you. *Please note that the $18, 500 price listed below is mainly for labor, although it did include certain materials such as dry wall, wood trim, insulation, electrical supplies, and electric baseboard heaters.
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation and family room renovation (including painting everything); new cabinet hardware and paint in bathroom; new chandelier installed in dining room

We are out of state owners and Home Remedies was responsive and punctual. They completed the work on schedule and got the house ready for us to put on the market. Also, their price was right and in line with their estimate. It's tough contracting home repairs on a house that you live 3000 miles away from and it was great to find someone that we could trust. If we still lived in the Columbus area, we would definitely call them again.
Description of Work: They repaired the fence, installed new garage door & back door. They repaired and replaced windows, painted the basement floor, and re-did holes in the drywall that had been shoddily repaired by a previous contractor. They also removed trash and debris from the backyard of the house.

Everything went wonderfully. They came out and assessed the walls and ceiling in each room. They worked with our timeline (baby on the way) even with it being very tight, not to mention baby arrived three weeks early! All the repairs looked great and when we pointed out a few spots we would like retouched they came back out within just a couple days and had those done quickly. They also cleaned up perfectly. I've had contractors here before that left it a disaster, but these guys made sure everything was put back in order. i would use them again and would highly recommend their services.

After a frustrating search for a contractor or handyman to build a small soffit in our walk-up attic, I got in touch with Doug at Home Remedies. He understood what I had in mind and arranged for Scott to come over and quote the job for me. Both Doug and Scott were very easy to work with, and their quote was very agreeable to us. Doug and Scott were upfront with us about their full schedule at that time, which meant our job would not be started for about a month, which I appreciated. Since we weren't in a hurry, that was fine. Sure enough, about 3 or 4 weeks later, I got a message from Scott letting me know that they were ready for us! In the meantime, I had found out that we needed to change the original dimensions of the soffit to make it slightly larger, but Scott was easy-going and said it would be no problem. Scott arrived on time on the appointed day to start the work, and came back a further 3 times to finish the job. (This was planned and necessary, due to the nature of drywall and our need to have the HVAC unit installed before Scott finished the bottom wall.) After his second return trip, we had the HVAC unit installed; once that was complete, Scott came back to put the bottom on the soffit to enclose the space. I opted to have him use plywood for that so that, if it became necessary, we could get that piece off to access lines for the unit from underneath. Between the slight change in dimensions and cost of the extra plywood, the final price was $55 higher than the original quote, but we are very happy with the work. We are glad to have found Home Remedies, and will keep them in mind for any future handyman jobs we may need help with--both Doug and Scott were great to work with and helped us achieve exactly what we needed!

I contacted them to provide an estimate. Doug did a no call, no show. The next day he called to apologize and reschedule. The 2nd time he came out, he couldn't give me an estimate. He had to schedule a time for his other employee to come out and take a look (since he didn't know much about plumbing). After the other guy came out, I was expecting to receive an estimate, but Doug didn't contact me to give me an estimate. This was a complete waste of my time and theirs. Quite unprofessional. Since then, I've called several other plumbers and it seems to be a common theme. One guy came out, but never gave an estimate. Another company quoted $8k. Another quoted $3k. I finally found a professional company that was extremely prompt, professional and reasonable. I'll post a separate review of them when they complete the service.

NO YOU WHERE GIVEN AN ESTIMATE the day scott and i came and looked at the job you and your brother wanted a friends and family discount because we know a lot of the same people in the neighborhood. You made it clear then that are quote was more than you wanted to pay. And i also want to add that you have had contractors walk off on you before .Your plumber left the job unfinished and you wanted us to finish it which I made it quite clear to you then that we were very reluctant to take on this project plus you where unsure of your ability to pay since we no longer accept credit cards.
job is underway. will update review once job is complete

The job they performed was flawless. They were able to match the 10 year old paint in the rest of the room exactly. You would never know we even had sky lights. They communicated well about what they were going to do and when they could do it, always working within our schedule. I have had them come out again to do some miscellaneous repairs and put up knobs on all of my kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Scott and Doug are very personable and professional and trustworthy. I really appreciate their talents as I am not handy at all.
Description of Work: Drywalled and painted after removing two leaking sky lights. Also installed can light where the sky lights used to be.
