We wish we could give 4.5 stars. Scott and Doug were great guys to work with (our corgis loved them too). Their price was very fair and the final result for our two old bathrooms they remodeled was everything we had hoped for. Our only complaint was that things got pretty messy in rooms outside the two bathrooms at times, and we would have liked it if they had been a bit tidier outside the bathrooms. That said, we would gladly hire them again.

I am very pleased with Scott's work. He was able to repair all of the electrical problems. He examined the non-working window frame and determined that it had to be replaced. Same with the window shade. He measured the window and promised to provide a quote to replace the it. He was pleasant and professional and the cost was very reasonable. I already have two more projects for him and will be contacting him soon.

These guys are fantastic. Had them out for an estimate and scheduled with them shortly thereafter. Scott was prompt and professional. They did great work and were very flexible with us when it came to changes on the fly. Going to have them back out to work on our other bathroom as well!

Scott & Doug were amazing to work with. We needed a full basement remodel following water proofing. They exceeded our expectations and have provided us with a beautiful, warm and cozy new living space in our home. Full scope of project entailed framing, insulation and drywall, electrical outlets and new panel (they contacted electrician for panel), installing new and reconfiguring can lighting, glass block window repair, skim coating the ceiling, painting walls and rebuilding staircase to reduce creaking. They arrived everyday between 8-8:30 and left as the days project required. They were both such a pleasure to have in our home. Our dogs looked forward everyday to greeting them. We look forward to working with them on our bathroom projects in the near future.

This is the 2nd time that I've used Home Remedies. Each time Doug responded to my calls for help and was out to do the jobs that day or the next. He is professional and friendly. The cost were very affordable. I met Scott, he wasn't able to fix the problem with my hot water tank, so he suggested that I contact a plumber. I liked his honesty , professionalism and friendliness, too. thanks guys!

Scott is great. Very skilled and knowledgable. He takes his time making sure things are done right, but still works at a quick, steady pace. He was here every day once he started and even helped out by picking up a door we could not fit in our car. His work is amazing and everything was done perfectly. Our only regret was not hiring him for previous work we already had done.

Doug did a nice job with replacing our rotted wood siding. He was friendly, respectful and reliable. Thank you!

Home Remedies did a fantastic job renovating a loft area into a second bedroom in our German Village home. This involved installing a transom window, installing drywall, adding a closet, and painting. They did additional work outside, with repair of a wooden fence, and wood repair and painting on a roofline. They did excellent quality work at a great price, and in a short time frame. Doug Schifer and his staff were great to work with. Highly recommended.

We looked at several contractors prior to settling on Home Remedies—guys in slick vans with branded polo shirts. Most either passed up on our work for bigger jobs or quoted us outrageous prices. Scott and Doug, on the other hand, were fairer and more professional toward toward us at every step despite being just a 2-man shop. They guys did a solid job with our attic, especially for the price and considering how many moving parts the job had (framing, drywall, window replacement, painting, etc.). They were courteous, efficient, and shared lots of information throughout the project, which was great for us as new homeowners with lots of questions. They stuck to their timeline. And when something wasn't quite right with the work after the project (some drywall mudding didn't set properly), they came back and fixed it—no fuss, no delay, no questions asked. They made it right. They're good, honest, all-around contractors. We would absolutely hire them again.

The quality of the work is outstanding. The work was performed quickly, expertly, and without problems. Home Remedies has my highest recommendation.

Scott and Doug were a pleasure to work with. They were knowledgeable about the work we needed to have completed, responsive throughout the entire process, and flexible with our requests. We are getting our house painted this summer, and they were very accommodating with our timetable. Doug and Scott were thorough and reliable, and we will absolutely use them again when the need arises.

Excellent. They worked with us to see exactly what we could do within our budget. They were extremely friendly, professional, and did a remarkable job. My son still talks about "the window guy". We will be calling them again for our next project.

Doug and Scott are wonderful. Their work is beautiful and incredibly affordable. They’re kind, honest, hardworking and capable. They’ve made our dark/ugly wood paneled basement a bright, livable area in a relatively short timeframe all within our budget. They’ve been very flexible with our timeline and gave us great guidance with decision making. While they are a small company balancing many jobs, they always manage to squeeze us in when available. We’ve already asked them to come back to help with other odd jobs and will never work with any other contractors. Doug and Scott were absolutely fantastic and a life saver! We had to have a complete kitchen remodel because of some water damage from our upstairs bathroom leaking down into the kitchen. We had 3 pervious quotes before Home Remedies and they were the only one that gave us a reasonable quote. Since this was our first remodel, Scott and Doug were insightful and helpful about all steps along the way and where to find some great deals for materials. They were on time, kept the work area very clean and again great communication. We now have an amazing kitchen thanks to Home Remedies. I cannot recommend them enough!

Doug and Scott did a great job. Raked and cleaned up, cleaned gutters, fixed soffit, and munched and planted. Also worked on cleaning out/removing pond. All done well and efficiently. And pleasantly and reasonably priced!!

Exceeded Expectations. Home Remedies crew are not just good craftsman, they are also excellent problem solvers. Pricing is very reasonable and they leave the work site spotless. Highly recommended.

I had Home Remedies give me an estimate on repairing the water damage to my box gutters in September 2019. They gave me an estimate and I agreed to have them do the work. Doug Schifer contacted me and said that he would put me on the schedule for late fall. Early in November, I talked with Doug and he said that he would be out the following week to do the work. He never showed, called, or emailed. The work did not get done. I emailed Scott Preston on 4-19-20 and asked for any explanation as I was going to write my review of his company for Angies List. Later that day Doug left me a message on my voicemail, saying that he had gotten injured shortly after telling me he would be out to begin work last November and had failed/forgotten to inform me of the fact that he could not perform the work. As a result, I was not able to get the work done last year, which was required within 3 months in order in to submit a claim to the City for damages caused by their tree. No work done and too late for a claim for reimbursement.

As always, Doug and Scott arrived as scheduled daily and worked 6-8 hours per day as the tasks required. All supplies and products were picked up at Lowe’s by Scott/Doug and there was nothing we needed to worry about getting ourselves after the initial picking out of our flooring, etc at Lowe’s. Our projects went great and now I feel like I live in a new house! What a difference! Both Doug and Scott are both patient and responsive when confronted with unexpected changes/requests and don’t get visibly frustrated when pointing out places where touch ups are needed. We have had Home Remedies do work several times in the past 15 years and have never been disappointed. Thanks Doug and Scott! Hope to see you again soon!

It went great. Scott and Doug were fun to work with. I never thought my living room could look so fabulous.

Doug arrived when expected. he was as friendly and courteous in person as he was on the phone. the work was performed quickly and efficiently. we talked about other projects that I may have done at a later date.

Very well. Excellent quality, very responsive, good folks to work with. One of jobs we need done - materials never appeared so will call back when materials are here. Would definitely hire again.

Scott and Doug were great to work. They were responsive, reasonably priced, and did excellent work. They renovated our mudroom / laundry room (demo, installed heated floor, tiled, hung cabinets, repaired drywall, painted, trim work), and we are very happy with the results. We will definitely use again for future projects and would highly recommend.

Doug and Shawn did a nice job. They added a new subfloor to the landing, added a vinyl floor piece that I had left over from an earlier remodel. The removed the old steps that were solid, but uneven. They used the original stringers, but added new supports and steps. They also added additional supports to the underside of the landing in the basement. I was very impressed with the wood trim (I supplies to match my existing house trim), to the side door. We had the door replaced years ago, but never had it trimmed out. They also trimmed out the cement block corners around the door. It looks wonderful.

It went extremely well. Doug is great to work with and a very nice person to talk to and get to know. I enjoyed our conversations because you felt like he was a friend and not just some stranger in your house. Very professional and responsive.
