It went very well. The quality of the work is excellent, the work done promptly and the price reasonable.

The project was completed as anticipated and Home Remedies presented creative and thoughtful solutions to issues hat arose as often occur in old house renovations.

Called to get estimate on fence, Doug called back immediately and came out two days later to give estimate for fence. Compared to the other estimates his price was fair and he was able to start immediately due to an opening in his schedule. In conversation I also mentioned other projects I was looking to get done and he gave me fair estimates on all. Doug and Scott were here when they told us they would be and always cleaned up after themselves. They were very conscientious and worked well together and with us. We enjoyed having them in our home and will hire them again for future remodeling projects.

They completed the painting quickly and efficiently. They put two coats and were very careful not to spill or damage anything. They cleaned up after themselves. The house looks great!

Doug did a fabulous job, at a very reasonable price compared to the estimates we received from landscaping companies. He's very responsive and thorough, and he even fixed our fence gate for us at no extra charge. We would highly recommend him.

The house is a charming ranch style, shingled in cedar shakes, making the job of painting it more challenging. Special materials and tools are needed for this type of painting job. I was impressed when Mr. Schiffer took the time to explain this to us while discussing his previous experience with this type of work. He took the time to listen to our concerns & answer all our questions before giving us a written bid that included time and costs. He worked with our schedule to do exterior work when we were unavailable and the interior work when we were. He inspected, repaired loose or broken shingles, prepared the surface, applied the necessary undercoat for cedar shingles & applied two coats of oil based exterior satin finish paint. We were impressed at Mr. Schiffer's neat careful work throughout the project. He cleaned up drips, did touchups where needed, & applied smooth even coats. This paint work will last us 20 years, so as far as we are concerned he exceeded our expectations!

Our family takes turns hosting the holiday get togethers, & it's our turn. Much as I love my family, I was deeply chagrined about the state of my guest bath. Given the age & wear of this full bath, it was long overdue for a makeover. Frankly, I was afraid of what it might cost to do the project right the first time, & speaking of time, was there enough time for such an extensive remodel by the holidays? So I checked Angie's & found HOME REMEDIES. The owner/general contractor, Doug Schiffer, responded to our call for a bid the very next day. He set up an appointment to meet us at OUR CONVENIENCE to discuss the job. Mr. Schiffer was professional, positive, courteous, and ON TIME! He took the time to listen to us carefully, discuss options for the remodel, and returned the best bid within 1 week! The job is finished, on budget, on time, & it's beautiful. Doug's craftsmanship & attention to detail exceeded our expectations. We cannot recommend Doug Schiffer highly enough.

I've used Doug since moving to Columbus three years ago. He has been fairly priced and prompt in all I have asked him to do. No job is too small (removing a dead bird) or too much to ask (fixing a broken toilet on a Sunday evening. I have found Doug very trustworthy and feel lucky to have him both as a help and a friend.

Doug, the owner/contractor of Home Remedies was very prompt in replying to my call for a bid on a small but important job this past summer. I decided to have a secure privacy fence installed after my neighbors experienced a break-in. Even though this was a small job for Home Remedies, Doug was very prompt in returning my call and very sensitive to my security concerns. He arrived the very next day to measure the space and provided me with a written estimate on the spot. He scheduled the job within the week, and by the weekend had completed the work and removed the construction waste. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work. Doug also installed fine outdoor security locks on the gates. I have already recommended Doug to several of my friends and neighbors and have spotted him working around my neighborhood on several occasions since.

Doug, the owner of Home Remedies, was very courteous and completely professional at all times. He always arrived on time and was very efficient in his work. I have already recommended him to several of my friends who have thanked me for the excellent recommendation. I will be using his service again in 2006.

This person was recommended to me by a neighbor. Mr. Schifer came to assess the work to be done in mid-June. Written estimate dropped off 60 days later with a very high quote. I called Mr. Schifer to tell him that I already hired someone else because I didn't receive the written estimate in a reasonable time, and that his quoted figure was too high. He became rude, told me I had wasted his time, and hung up on me. I would not recommend this company.
