I got four separate estimates from contractors doing this work. Two, including Doug's, were the lowest (Doug's was the lowest). The other two were about four times as high. Doug could have charged twice as much and I think it would have still have been a fair price. It sure is nice to deal with someone who does good work and is honest. I had a leak in the piping beneath the sink fixed. Unfortunately, the leak was behind the wall, so the plumber had to cut a sizable portion of the drywall out. After the plumbing was done, I needed to get the hole in the wall repaired, so I called Doug. I asked that he repair the drywall and paint the entire bathroom. He did a nice job painting. It required two coats. I'm very picky when it comes to painting, but Doug obviously new what he was doing and was very careful with not getting paint on the ceiling or floor. He also did a very fine job with repairing the dryall, leaving it with a nice smooth finish after he completed this. In fact, after he got done, you couldn't even tell where it had been cut out.

Great! This is the second time I've had Doug & Scott do some work for me. They're very reasonably priced and do a good job. They ran into a couple glitches - needing to use a hot gun to remove some paint outside and replacing the drywall in the ceiling instead of repairing it. Both times they talked to me about my options and made recommendations, but left it up to me. I'll definitely use Scott & Doug again.

I am very happy with the service. Doug and Scott were friendly and courteous. I have an older house, with nice trim on the walls, and they did a great job making the drywall fit naturally against the molding. They cleaned up after themselves, and the bill matched the estimate. The price was the best of the three estimates that I got. I will certainly consider them for future jobs. Recommended.

Doug showed up a bit early on a Saturday to clean the gutters. He measured for the missing pipe and said he would be back Monday to install it and he wasn't going to charge me until the work was done.. He not only came back just like he said on Monday to finish, he cleaned the gutters on my garage as well, and those had never been cleaned in the 15 years I've lived in this house. Just never thought about them much but he cleaned them for no extra charge! I was impressed by the Doug's promptness, professionalism and obvious attention to detail. He also quoted me a price for what it would cost for him and an assistant to scrape and paint the house, a big project I want to do next year. I am looking to build a working relationship with a handyman whom I can rely upon to do a quality job and Doug has moved very high on my short list. I would not hesitate to call him again when the time comes and I recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable pro.

Doug & Scott are hard workers who provide attention to detail. They had keys to the house and let themselves in and out without problems or issues. Both are personable and friendly, and took pride in their work. Both went to extra effort and exceeded expectations. Since this was a larger project, scheduling work days and completion times was a challenge, but that should be expected with a two man operation.

Scott had several ideas for us and provided a quality estimate. They are very friendly and professional and were in our top 2 for the job. Their price was right on the mark as well as availability to start the job. We chose another contractor only because there were more examples of his work readily available for us to review but I believe that Home Remedies would have done a quality job for us as well and would not hesitate to call them for our next remodel project. Let me start with the one negative thing I can say about this project. It took them 3 days to complete; but one month to get to it. Granted, this is an extremely small project and I would never expect them to just drop everything because "I" called- but for anyone considering a small project with Home Remedies I would encourage you to make sure you have time to wait. They are fairly busy people- but worth the wait.

Doug and Scott were prompt--arriving exactly when they said they would. They were very professional, yet personable (nice to the kids and dog!). They worked remarkably fast, while paying careful attention to detail. Our new ceiling is beautiful!

Curtis and I hired Home Remedies based on their rating on Angie's list, with the goal of having a professional hand finish off our basement drywall project. They did a quick walk through and got back to us with an estimate the next day, and by the end of the week were well into the project. I found them to be very professional and courteous. The necessity of letting the mud dry required them to return over the course of 4 days, and all I have is praise for the quality of the work and their staff. In fact, we plan on hiring them for an additional project in the basement.

Scott and Doug are one of the best contractors i've dealt with. They are very very professional, always keep everything clean and best of all they are not doing this job just for the money but they are doing it with passion. Every time i found something that is not right even for small detail like door trimming, paint touch up and other thing, Scott and Doug will be gladly to come and fix it without additional charge. They will keep their word and very responsible. Highly recommended !!!

Doug was able to schedule me in a couple of weeks earlier than was originally agreed upon. There was a slight problem with installing the bathroom door (had to remove some tile.) I was called immediately and a solution was agreed upon. They even installed a new door knob on the bathroom door at no extra charge. Everything looks great. Doug and Scott are always professional and friendly. Home Remedies has done multiple jobs for me. I will definitely call them again.

They are still on our list. The amount changed a couple of times to suit what we wanted. I liked them a lot. I thought they did a nice job with the quote. They were pretty detailed. I had to go back and ask for a few things. They have been very responsive. Some people call all the time but they called periodically to see how things were going. Their follow up was not annoying. It has been a very positive experience. We are still considering using them.

Did not use, however in dealing with them they were excellent and provided a fair and accurate quote.

They moved the built in shelf for us and they did a very good job.

extremely well. Lowest bid of 3. Highest bid was $3200!!! Work was scheduled for about a month out. Started on time. Some difficulty with my old 1919 wiring, but Doug stayed with it until the new 3 way switch got working. I intend to use him again for my home or other projects.

They came out quickly, completed the work and left. The work was fine.

The only problem was the weather. Originally Doug and Scott were to start painting on October 1. Due to rain and overall nasty weather, they were not able to start until about a week/week and a half later. Scott and Doug did not hesitate to ask any questions concerning what to paint, etc. They did not hesitate to notify me of their progress and if something had to wait (due to weather.)The trim around the windows and doors were painted along with the porches and doors. The house looks great. They did an excellent job even though the weather was not very cooperative.

We used Doug Schifer for a previous exterior fence painting project and were so pleased with his work that he was the only company we called when we needed the interior painting. As with the first job he came promptly, gave a fair price, and started and ended the job exactly on time. The plaster repair and quality of the painting was excellent. He left everything neat and tidy. Doug Schifer will be the first person we will call for any future projects. I would recommend him to friends and family.

Overall everything went smoothly. The first day Doug called and informed me that the tiles I picked out were not tiles for a drop ceiling. After a few minutes of talking, it was agreed that they would pick up the tiles I wanted the next morning. I just had to leave a check for an extra $200 and a note stating the type of tile I wanted. Doug and Scott removed all the old tile, grid and the ceiling light the first day. The second day, the new grid, tile and light were installed. They thoroughly cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. They even spakled a part of the wall by the window where a piece of trim was removed.

They did a great job! Everything looks great and they were able to match up the texture on 2 ceilings so the repair work is not detectable. They came when they said they would and cleaned up after themselves.

The project was completed as anticipated and Home Remedies presented creative and thoughtful solutions to issues that arose as often occur in older house renovations. They were very efficient and careful. They shrouded the house during tear-off & left the area cleaner than they found it. Best of all they did the whole job in 6 days!

They came right away to give us an estimate. The listened to our ideas and then provided great suggestions on how to accomplish our objectives. The started a week later with the studs and then the drywall. At first we were not sure about how it was going to look but it turned out better than we could have ever expected. They were very careful about all the dust from the drywall. They always cleaned up after each days work. They even at a few dinners with us. The painting turned out beautiful. We were going to try and save money and do it ourselves but they had it done in two day where I am sure if we had decided to finish it still would not be done. They were wonderful working around my kids. We showed it off and all my family and friends cannot believe it is the same space. They knew what we needed and now I have an amazing new family room for my family (and I get some peace and quiet!!)

Once again we hit gold with Angie's List. We had a new fence installed and needed it to be painted with an opaque stain. I checked the list to find a reference. Home Remedies had a high grade on Angie's List so I called. Doug Schiefer, the owner, came out within two days. I felt enough confidence in Mr. Schifer and the price he quoted that we contracted to have the work done the next week. He completed the work on time and we are very happy with the results. The price was good; the work was excellent and done as agreed in a timely manner. The site was cleaned up and left without any damage to plants. I would highly recommend Doug Schifer/Home Remedies to anyone, and will certainly contact him first for any future work we need.

The job went great. Doug gave me an estimate and then let me know when he could get the job done. Doug was professional, on-time, and worked around the weather while always keeping us informed. I very highly recommend him and will be using him again!
