Doug and Scott have done numerous jobs in helping me renovate my house. I called Doug end of March for an estimate to tear down walls to a bedroom. When Doug arrived to take measurements, I explained I would rent a dumpster for the debri when they tore down the walls. I would take care of any electrical and insulation. I would then call Doug back when I was ready for the drywall. I also asked if he could drywall a stairwell and landing at the top of the stairs (these were ready to drywall.) Doug at the time was friendly and agreeable. Two weeks later Doug called with an estimate. It was reasonable so I agreed and asked when would they be able to start. Doug told me beginning of June. Beginning of June came and went. No Doug, no phone call, nothing. I called Doug and he explained they would not be able to start my project for another 5 weeks. I agreed. Five weeks came and went. No Doug, no phone call. I was on a timeline and became worried concerning when this project would even start. After 7 weeks (3rd week of July) Doug called and said he could squeeze me in at the end of July on a Saturday to hurry up and do the job. We agreed on the last Saturday of July. I then told Doug there were some changes to the job (I would only need him and Scott to tear down the walls and drywall the bedroom.) When Doug asked why I tried to explain I was on a timeline and since it has taken so long for Doug and Scott to start this project, I had to give someone else part of the job. Unfortunately before I was able to explain this, Doug cut me off, became somewhat nasty and told me it was my fault that they were not able to start this project sooner. The only reason I did not immediately cancel was I knew no one would be able to come in within 2 weeks to start this project. A few days later Doug left me a message asking if they could postpone (again) starting the project. This time I canceled the job completely. Was just too much of a hassle to keep waiting for Doug to come around to do the work. If he didn't want to do it, I wish he had told me. Shame. Lost a loyal customer of four years.

All went well. Doug installed two interior doors to two of our bedrooms. He has always been diligent and trustworthy. What more can be said! I will use his company if needed in the future.

Overall they did an outstanding job from beginning to end. very professional...they really understood what i wanted done....I am looking forward to another project with them later in the year.

IWe called the company and they were quick to reply. They came out and gave us an estimate which was more reasonable than other companies. Lowe's for instance. He was pleasant to talk to and wanted to do a good job. We are going to use the company within the next week. More later.

I contacted several companies for help with an upstairs leak. Scott and Doug were by far the most responsive. I appreciated their responsiveness, they gave us a fair estimate, and they were able to locate our leak, fix the problem, and repair the damage from the leak. Scott was so easy to work with, so patient with the "help" my three year old tried to give him, and he did a great job. I really appreciated the great work and we will not hesitate to call Home Remedies again for future home projects. They were a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend them!

The project went extremely well and I'm very pleased. The tile in my shower is 40+ years old and some of the pieces were cracked/chipped. Scott worked to find an exact match to replace these tiles as part of regrouting and sealing! This was above/beyond expectations - I am very pleased with the finished product and strongly recommend his work.

This is the second time we used Home Remedies. We were so impressed with their work the first time we decided to go ahead with another project. As with the first job, Doug and Scott came to our house to provide an estimate. They were helpful regarding suggestions on how to improve our bedroom and an adjoining small room we used as a dressing room. They provided a written estimate and we schedule a time for the project. Scott and Doug started the job on time and finished on time. They did a great job. The rooms look new. They also did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. They were great to work with. Doug and Scott were very friendly and helpful. We have other projects in the house and we are planning on using Home Remedies again.

They did an excellent job. The two windows were installed wrong by the carpenter. Those windows leaked. They were willing to work with the windows company and work with me and wait for the windows to come in. They were excellent.

It went well. I left on vacation and came home to a completed job. Any extras necessary were done on good faith, and I repaid the contractor for the materials on my return.

He did excellent work for me. I've hired him for several jobs, and he has always done excellent work.

Mr. Schiffer was very cost effective. His arrival time was always prompt. They never left a mess. He Over Delivered, by doing a few things not covered in the estamit. He had a quick turn around. I Highly Reccomend Home Remeides!!

Doug and Scott were very responsive from day one if I needed something changed. They came after hours to do some touch ups when asked. They gave an honest price and didn't try to nickel and dime. The former open space now looks like a seamless wall from the downstairs and the loft they converted is now a very nice bedroom with a desk, extra lighting and a big closet. If you are looking to get something done on a tight budget, I would highly recommend giving Home Remedies a call.

Scott and Doug are great to work with. They take challenging jobs and work diligently to provide a good quality product. They are prompt, communicate well, and patient with customers. If things are not exactly as expected they bend over backwards to remediate and meet expectations. They are very responsive to customers needs and dont "nickel and dime" you to death. Quotes are reasonably priced. They have worked on some major projects for me and did not require subcontractors for the mechanical work which was wonderful. I've used them on two big projects in the past 4 months and am planning on using them again on 3 additional major projects in upcoming months. They are highly recommended.

Great job. I've used Doug & Scott several times over the past year and a half. They've become my "go to" company for painting, remodeling & repairs. I ordered new curtains and need my living room walls repaired and painted before the curtains arrive. They were able to squeeze me in on short notice. The painting looks great and they were done fast.

We had purchased a distressed property and had been renovating it to be a rental property. During our cosmetic redo i had decided to knock a few walls out to open up the kitchen and back entry hall. We had contacted Home Remedies to complete the wall and ceiling drywall as well as some drywall patching. They did a excellent job in matching the drywall to the existing plaster and their seams were seamless. i was very pleased in the quality of their drywall work. We again hired Home Remedies based on their previous work to install privacy fencing. I was very pleased that their estimate was lower than the other 3 estimates I had received The fence was completed very quickly. I intend to contact Home Remedies in the future for my personal and investment property home repairs.

I was really happy when Scott and Doug agreed to start work early, Saturday 1/22/11. But the night before the work was going to start, Scott called me to confirm the start time on Saturday, and asked if I would bring my checkbook to pay 50% of the full contract amount that day. I looked at our contract and noticed that there were no payment provisions indicated. So I called Scott back Saturday morning before he picked up materials and asked why he needed 50% in advance for a mostly labor contract. He said for "small jobs" they typically asked for 50% payment up front in case the homeowners decide not to pay. I told him I wasn't paying up front for a mostly labor contract that wouldn't be finished until mid-March, when the painting would be done. I offered to pay on a percentage of work complete basis - which is typical in the construction industry - along with payment for 100% of the materials the day they were purchased. After consulting his partner Doug, Scott called me back to say they were going to "pass on the job". So at the 11th hour, I was without a drywall contractor a week before the kitchen cabinets were scheduled to be installed. Scott was fully aware of the schedule and the bind he put me in, because I kept him informed of activities happening before and after their work. I lost a few days and spent a lot of time finding another good contractor who could start the drywall work right away so I didn't have to re-schedule all the contractors that followed. Thankfully I got back on schedule at about the same cost, and I have paid all contractors on the job immediately upon receipt of their invoices.

They boarded up a vacant house so we weren't fined by the city. They also rehung some gutters and down spouts that had been stolen. They helped take care of the specifications, per city code, and helped get us out of a jam. They took great care of the situation in a timely manner and followed city code. They came out last minute, since the other contractor bailed out on us. They did a complete job in time for the court deadline, which brought us into compliance with the city. They were very helpful and would use them again for future projects.

Good experience. I have used them before, so I knew what to expect. They do high quality work, and are very friendly. Will use again.

Doug and Scott arrived on time and immediately went to work on our doors. The job would have been a challenge to any seasoned carpenter because the room is a custom add-on; one of the original door frames was actually attached directly into cinder block, rather than wood! After removing the old doors they discovered that there was a lack of insulation around the openings, so they made an extra trip to the hardware store to purchase insulation. They did a wonderful job installing the doors. The doors look and work great, and the room is considerably warmer since they installed the extra insulation. This is the third job that Doug and Scott have done for us, and once again, we couldn't be more pleased. Aside from being talented carpenters, they charge a fair price, they're always prompt and professional, and they're truly nice guys.

Doug and Scott were wonderful. Due to an emergency (on my part), they were able to start work the next day. The door jam for the back door was repaired and reinforced. A screen door was also installed in the back. Scott automatically had the lock for the screen door re-keyed so I could use my existing keys. He also offered to reinforce the front door jam, which I agreed on. As usual, they were friendly and professional. Greatly appreciate being able to have the work done on such short notice. Will definitely hire them again.

Doug and Scott came out and did the initial estimate. They worked around my schedule. I ended up going with Home Remedies because of the estimate and Angie's List reviews. I was really impressed on how they told me when the work was going to be done and STUCK TO THEIR SCHEDULE. I have had very few contractors and subcontractors stick to a schedule. Finished product looks great. Thanks guys!

Doug and Scott came to our house to provide an estimate. They were very friendly and helpful regarding suggestions on how to improve our living room. They provided an estimate and were able to perform the services within a week of when we were given the estimate. We live just outside of German Village and our house is 130 years old so there are always some "unseen site conditions" but Doug and Scott had experience with older homes and we're able to overcome any of the problems with this type of house without added cost. They finish the job a half day after the original estimate but that was because they needed to get an electrician to handle some of the lighting. They did a great job. The room looks new. They also did a good job of cleaning up afterwards. They were great to work with. Very friendly and helpful. We have other projects in the house and we are planning on using Home Remedies again.

On the first day, Doug and Scott came together. They used a steamer to remove the wallpaper and they spackled other areas. The next day Scott sanded and painted a first coat. The third day he painted another coat. Then Doug came. He gave the room some final touchups/ painting and, after allowing some drying time, was able to hang the mirror, medicine cabinet and towel racks. Everything looks great! Doug & Scott have remodeled a basement for us (putting up drywall, laying flooring, etc.), and painted several other rooms, and everything is always done well. Plus, both are very friendly, kind and courteous. Having them here is like having family helping out. Also, following their advice to replace my medicine cabinet made a huge difference in the overall finished look of the room. Thanks, guys, for your good suggestion and for the great workmanship.

When installing the door, Scott accidentally trimmed the incorrect side of the door. He immediately brought the error to my attention and we discussed a solution. Doug painted the kitchen. There was a spot that needed retouching. Doug was prompt in returning and retouching the requested area. Both have always been friendly and very professional. They have done several jobs for me and I have always been satisfied. One note, originally when I was told a timeline, Doug mentioned they were working around a month out. It ended up being almost three months before they were able to do my job. Doug did regularly contacted me whenever there was a change in the timeline. When they did do the job, they appeared to be rushed due to other jobs that were promised to other customers. These are two factors I will remember next time I hire them.
