Griffey Remodeling

We selected Griffey & Associates over other contractors because of two things: we felt most comfortable with Charlie, and their bid was very competitive. Charlie explained things to us at just the right level of detail - not too much and not too little. He spent a lot of time with us answering our questions and making suggestions, and he made sure that everyone was involved in the decision making process. He clearly understood our requirements and timelines, and explained up front how the process worked and how he and his team would meet those requirements. Karl, our project manager, stayed in contact with us throughout the entire process via email and telephone, and he met with us numerous times. We were always aware of what would be happening and when. He was also very responsive to our questions and gave his opinions when we asked. Karl prioritized projects so as to minimize any inconvenience that we had to experience The project flowed very smoothly and efficiently. Our neighbors even commented to us on how impressed they were with how quickly the team was working and the progress the they were making. The workers were very professional and courteous. They always cleaned up after themselves, and we never had any problems with materials or trash not being picked up or put away. All in all, we were extremely pleased with the entire process and the final result. We're thrilled with the functionality of the additional space. From the initial quoting process to the final punchout, we felt that Griffey & Associates knew exactly what we wanted, and they delivered. The next time we have a project, we will be sure to call them first!

Our remodeling project far exceeded our expectations! Fabulous-Wonderful-Beautiful-no words can express how delighted we are with the end results. What a professional job. Karl, the project manager, checked in with me everyday and always answered my phone calls promptly. He provided me with a calendar stating who would be working in the house each day. He is excellent and made sure everything was completed to perfection. He has a good crew of long term employees. We were delighted with the electrician, carpenter, drywall person, and painter. Hans who designed the kitchen had great design insight and used my space efficiently and creatively. What an asset he was to us! Charlie Griffey, the owner, was very accurate and honest with our estimate as to cost and completion time. We have tremendous trust and respect for him. We have done several remodels on our house, but nothing has ever gone this smoothly. The job was completed in 8 weeks-unbelievable for the amount of work we had done. This is the greatest company. We have not one negative comment to make. Use them - you'll love their work ethic and dedication.

This is a major remodeling project. All the stuff that was in the kitchen was stored in every square inch we had. Also, remember that having no kitchen to cook, no dishwasher, and refrigerator in the living room was a MAJOR life style change for three months. Griffey knows the business. They give you the options with EXPERT advise. They are the general contractor. Do not attempt to do otherwise. They were totally responsible for the ENTIRE PROJECT. My wife is VERY, VERY happy with HER kitchen. The quality of workmanship continues to amaze us each day. They reworked the refrigerator depth, so if we ever want to purchase a side by side deeper refrigerator freezer, it will be no problem. The drawers and efficient use of our small kitchen space was OUTSTANDING. Karl Long, Operating Manager for Griffey was always on the scene. He showed concern and respect both for us and his employer. His honesty remains above reproach. When extra wiring had to be done, he was upfront with us. No hidden change orders for price gouging us. Quality for the money is outstanding. They should be nominated for Angie's List for 2007 or 2008 depending on your award schedule. They used our garage as storage space. Highly recommended to protect woodwork and more efficient for people to work in rain, snow, and cold weather. Also, be ready for some dirt in your home, BUT remember this is a major upgrade to your home. Complete trust in their people being in your home. Remember they arrive at 8:00 A. M. sharp for you retirees. My wife says everyday HOW MUCH SHE LIKES HER NEW KITCHEN. So gentlemen, you know what to buy your wife for her birthday and/or your anniversary. Money spent for those of you who want a nicer home but can NOT afford to take the hit in selling in this real estate market now. Remodel and take a vacation for three months if you can afford it or just have coffee ready when Griffey associates report for work in your home.

The kitchen looked amazing when they finished they did a great job. The bathroom also looked great they added such detail to our bathroom. I would highly recommend them.

Overall I was very happy with the work they did. We got 5 different estimates, and they were in the middle for price. We had a few issues with a structural post that was cracked during demolition of the foundation to the old garage, but they handled it very well. Karl, the on site supervisor was very easy to work with, responsive and professional. There subcontractors were also very courteous and professional as well.

The job was thorough and professional. Karl was almost always available if we had questions or concerns. This included after the work was done.

He tried several times to contact me, and finally left I message. I appreciated his promptness and persistence.

A great remodeling experience! They started with the idea I had for a new layout and improved my design based on their remodeling experience. Charlie was willing to engage in discussions about which design choices were good investments and which would raise the cost beyond my budget. The estimate/contract was clearly detailed as to the work to be done, and the only changes made after the start were small mutually agreed on improvements to the design to improve the result. Karl always let me know the work to be done on a particular day in advance and I never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a call to be returned when I had a question. They kept the dust contained and cleaned up at the end of each work day. The resulting kitchen is fabulous! The creation of a full size open kitchen to replace the previous small, inefficient 1980s design has transformed my house and increased its value.

Our experience with Griffey was fantastic. When I initially met with Charlie, I thought his bid seemed high and decided to go with another contractor. That deal fell through because (surprise!) the other contractor had grossly underestimated the price. I went back to Charlie because I got a great feeling from him during our initial meeting and really liked his attitude. Charlie was very upfront about what the project would entail and VERY thorough on his bid. As a result, the final price on our project was RIGHT on. The kitchen designer they use was wonderfully helpful and had great ideas we never would've thought of ourselves. Our project manager, Karl, stayed in excellent communication with us along the way. If I called or emailed him, he responded immediately and always had our best interests in mind. Their crew of guys were polite, respectful of our home, and did high-quality work. I have absolutely no complaints about Griffey and we LOVE our new kitchen! Worth every penny.

OUTSTANDING!! This company is what ALL companies should model themselves after. Customer service is paramount with Griffey & Associates and it is evident in the way that the customer is treated at every stage of the remodel process. Our home was in need of an extensive kitchen remodel and some other smaller projects. From start to finish the company owners were right there ensuring that the work was done not just right, but perfect. I am a perfectionist and they saw minor imperfections that I didn't even notice, and they fixed them right away. All of the workers that came to my home were timely and hard working. Karl gave me near daily updates on what was going on throughout the project and if I had ANY questions or concerns they were addressed IMMEDIATELY. As far as the work itself: Astounding. The kitchen is BETTER than I ever imagined. The layout, products, installation, everything is of absolute excellence. This is a quality company that under promises and over delivers.

We were extremely pleased with the quality of work. John is very knowledgeable and was able to explain the various systems available and help us decide on the right technology for our home theater. He worked around our scheduled and answered all of our messages promptly.

John (the salesman), worked with us for 2 months developing the scope of work and design plan. We were most comfortable with the working relationship with his company and quoted price. Karl (our project manager) contacted us soon thereafter, and provided consistent, professional oversight. All employees and subs performed high-quality work, respected our home, and incorporated suggestions from their experience as the project progressed to meet our needs. Work was completed generally on schedule, and to our complete satisfaction. We will, without question, use Griffey and Associates for our future remodeling needs.

After we discussed what I needed and all the options they had available they gave me an estimate on only the items I needed. They were very honest about recommending a projector I found elsewhere for an incredible price. They did not try to bad mouth the product or change my mind. In fact, they recommended it.

Charley and Hans came to our house listened to list of what we wanted at our general price. Hans did a fantastic design that accomplished our main goal of getting more counter work space. He gave good input to help us make decisions on the overall look and function of the kitchen. Contract was detailed and we easily work out revisions. Good project timeline and they were flexible in changing the start date for us because of a family tragedy. The workers were on time and maintained a clean work area. The old cabinets were carefully removed and new ones handled carefully. Only a couple of areas on the cabinet doors were touched up. The tile back splash needed a one edge spot redone. We decided to add tile above the wine cooler and that was easily accommodated. Change orders were clear and complete. Into the project we decided to change the kitchen tile floor and put in a bamboo floor. We were warned that taking out the floor would be tough, and it was. New floor looks great.

Charlie (owner) and Karl were very easy to work with. Their price was great and they (and the workers) were very punctual. The quality of work is very good and they are flexible with changes...after supplying original designs, I asked for modifications to 8" garage doors and added a floor drain. I would highly recommend them and plan on using again in the future. Charlie called several times during and after the construction to ensure everything was going OK and that we were satisfied with the garage.

This was a relatively small project. It took longer to complete than anticipated and some unanticipated drywall damage occurred during the installation of the granite tops. On the positive, I believe I received good design advice. The workers were timely, courteous and very competent. The project manager (Karl), was diligent with communication, professional, helpful and I believe he made every effort to assure my satisfaction with the outcome...and I'm very pleased with the finished product.

When we decided to move ahead with the project a couple of months later, Charlie brought in his project manager Karl Long with whom we had exclusive contact during the project. Karl didn't miss a detail, and finished the project within 7 weeks, just slightly longer than the estimate. The subs were polite, punctual, and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. We invited them to ask us questions along the way; this was especially important in the framing stage as we worked to find the best way to maximize space and work around things like plumbing and mechanicals. Being able to decide with the framer how things would look when the project was complete was a huge benefit, and one we didn't know we needed when we started. Not unimportant, Griffey & Associates also worked hard to find materials that provide design continuity with the rest of our home such as doors, baseboards, and drywall ceilings. We have a beautiful living space as a result of their hard work!

Charlie Griffey came to give us an estimate on July 9, 2007. He was running a bit late and called to let us know. We told Charlie that this was the first big project we had done and that we were inexperienced with the process. We showed Charlie a drawing we had prepared of the work we wanted to do. Charlie filled out a form as he looked around our kitchen though he didn't explain the form to us. Eventually he said that our project would probably cost about $40,000. We said we had been hoping that we could do it for $25,000 to $30,000 and he said it might even cost $50,000. At no time did either my husband or I feel that Charlie really wanted to do our job nor did he attempt to sell his services. It was not a pleasant experience. As it turns out we went with another contractor for the project for $40,000. The big difference was that the guy that got the job REALLY WANTED to give us a beautiful kitchen. I have delayed writing this report because I hate writing a negative one.

Charlie, Carl, Hans and the subs did quality work and were great to work with. From the initial estimate stage to completion we were always kept informed as the project moved from demo to finish. Carl's role as project manager was key and he did it very well.

They did an A+ job! I highly recommend them!

Although they were unable to help me with project, they had the courtesy to return my call to give me that information. That's more than I can say for the other 3 companies I called.

I had received 3 estimates from companies I found on Angie's List. Charlie, by far, was the most professional and responsive of all 3. This remodel went very smoothly from start to finish. Carl, our contractor, worked very closely with us to make sure things were done as we wanted, even re-doing things until we were happy. We generally spoke daily and all the subcontractors used were very good and well coordinated. Clean-up was done daily and I can't remember how many times the kitchen sink was removed and reinstalled so we would have a working sink as much as possible. Carl even followed up with us weeks after they were technically done to make sure the door people followed up on an issue we had with the front door. We couldn't have been happier.

It was a great experience from start to end. We immediately liked the professionalism of Charlie and his staff. We were provided with custom designs that helped guide us to our new kitchen layout. During the process the project was timely and we felt well informed of progress and next steps throughout. All of the contractors in our home were very pleasant and professional. The team was always very diligent about cleaning up after they were through for the day. The team was very detail oriented and the finished product is a very high quality, beautiful kitchen. We have a large dog and were concerned how having people in and out of our house would be. The team was great with him and we had no issues. We have been extremely pleased and would recommend Charlie, Karl, and the rest of the staff to anyone.
