Favret Heating & Cooling

We had water seeping out from under our furnace/AC in the basement. The problem gradually got worse so I wanted to get it looked at quickly. I called a few places and FAVRET was the first with same-day availability. The price seemed reasonable and the technician was courteous. After looking at the unit, his assessment was that the drainage pan inside the furnace block had a leak and needed to be replaced. However, because of the age of the unit, this would be difficult and would require replacing the AC coil, at about $1200. Given the cost he also suggested that we consider a new system altogether, about $3500. Faced with the prospect of spending that kind of money (and because FAVRET isn't associated w/ our home warranty), I chose to get a second opinion. I contacted another company and they came out the next day. The technician took a look and had a very different assessment. He did not see any problem with the drainage pan. All he found was a clogged drainage pipe causing a back up and subsequent overflow from the pan. This was easily cleared and he reconfigured some of the drainage piping so it would be easy for us to clear in the future. After this work, the problem was resolved. The FAVRET technician claimed to have checked the drainage line and not found a clog. He also didn't reattach some of the screws and such that he took out, which was kind of annoying. It is possible that the technician was at least somewhat incompetent in his misdiagnosis. It is also possible that he was purposely misleading us to bring a larger sale/repair. Not surprisingly, a sales person called later that evening. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but the experience seems to indicate that FAVRET was trying to "sell" us rather than fix the problem. Hopefully not all of their clients have the same experience, but that was mine.

I called them about 5 pm on Saturday because my A/C stopped blowing cold air. I got the answering service. They told me that they do not charge OT until after midnight on Saturdays, so I said that I wanted to schedule something for that day. They said they would contact the on call person and have them call me. They had not returned my call by 11 pm. I called back and again they said that someone would call me. I had contacted another company also. I hired the other company to do the work and ended up paying OT to the other company to complete the work on Sunday. As of Monday I still had not received a call from Favret.

They showed up on time to do the work. They did what they said they were going to do. They were very clean about there work. They were very courteous when they were working.

I called Favret at 1pm on a Saturday. I received a return call within an hour. We did not have a service contract so they did not have to help us on the weekend but for the second time, Favret came through for us. The first time, the tech came over at 11pm on a Saturday after being on work for over 15 hours. This time, though the tech was supposed to get off at 4pm, he called at 7pm because he just helped out someone around the corner and he wanted to know if I wanted him to come over. He came and fixed the problem within an 1/2 of an hour. He could have easily told me that he was done for the day and I would have understood. This company is OUTSTANDING on customer service. I would only ever use this company. They are the people who consistently go above and beyond every day. They have saved me twice when they did not have to and I will be forever loyal.

The installation went very smoothly and was completed on schedule. After the installation of the furnace, I did not like the placement of the humidifier. Without hesitation, Favret reversed one of the ducts to correct the accessibility to the humidifier. That amounted to a couple of more hours of labor without extra charge. I am very pleased overall.

I would give them A's across the board. They are punctual. Their work is top notch. It is a real pleasure to deal with them. I believe they are a cut above the rest.

I have been using them for years to service the heating and a/c original to the house. The tech that always came was fantastic and he let me know a couple of years ago that they were both nearing the end of their service career. He nursed it through two more seasons and this year I sprung for the replacements. Tim, my usual tech, recommended a couple of different techs to put in the new unit. I called and scheduled the salesman, who was very low pressure and gave me all my options. I chose and asked for the service folks Tim had recommended. Favret was out there on the day I agreed upon, bright and early. The tech was on time, professional and understanding (I have two very friendly Jack Russell Terriers, who think everyone is there to see THEM). I felt very comfortable that he was on top of everything. A short while later, another tech arrived to help him in the other parts of the work. Also a great guy. We talked dogs! They finished int he time frame predicted, cleaned up completely. A few days later, Favret called to let me know that I didn't need to renew my service agreement as this was covered under warranty. How many companies do that???? The next big rain, I had a leak. It appeared to be coming from the area of the furnace pipe, so I called Favret. They sent one of the original installers out THAT DAY to check and discovered that in putting in the new furnace and hooking everything up, the seal around the pipe on the roof had come loose. He caulked it and double caulked it. Ha. I know it won't come free anytime soon. Haven't had a problem since. My only regret in all this is that I won't get to see Tim in the Fall for my annual checkup. Great company, great service, great techs.

Favret arrived a few minutes early for the appointment and went right to work. Two individuals worked most of the day cleaning the duct work. They did a great job and took the time to show me the construction debris that they collected from the ductwork. They also explained what we needed to do to minimize future dirt in the ductwork by cleaning the cold air returns. They noticed that there were quite a few leaks in the system and recommended that we have them plugged. They were very neat and professional. Overall we were very pleased with their work.

I gave them a call to explain the situation. He was able to come out in a reasonable amount of time. He did take some time to figure out the problem, because he wanted to be thorough. He did explain that the furnace was getting so hot it would shut itself off. He fixed the furnace and it's worked fine ever since.
