I have been working with Favret Heating & Cooling for 30 years. In my early years working with them, they were so consistently excellent that I became a service contract customer and now get free (with cost of service contract) seasonal checks of heating and air conditioning systems twice a year, which keep everything running well before problems arise. Favret has consistently provided excellent service including excellent customer service. Today James G. came out to perform my season spring check and he was professional, friendly, expert, and willing to patiently answer all my questions. Susannah on the phone is friendly and helpful in listening to customer needs. And Jerod the service manager has taken calls from me about my questions or concerns and been very helpful 100% of the time. This company listens to customers and responds to their needs.

Favret came out today as part of our service plan, to check out the A/C unit for the summer. Tim Campbell was personable and efficient. We've used Favret for years now and have always been pleased with their responsiveness and skills.

Have been a Favret client for nearly 4 years, buying the annual maintenance agreement each year. On 4/22/22 my six month service call was complete. Today (6/28/22) I had a direct gas line installed by another firm , who detected a gas odor and found gas leaks around and near my furnace. Called Favret and they came out the same day and acknowledged a gas odor and found several pipe fittings around and near the furnace were loose.. $129 later they were tightened up/fixed. Only the HVAC unit itself is covered by the Favret annual maintenance contract. (Should have read the small print). But did these fittings shake loose since 4/22/22 when the Favret repair man performed periodic maintenance? Was there an earthquake here in Upper Arlington that I missed?. Not a happy FAVRET client

Terrible. A handyman had indicated that I probably needed a blower motor replaced. I hired Favret to inspect the system to make sure that's what was need, and made sure they would have the part with them so I wouldn't have to pay for a 2nd visit. The tech arrived and, even though I asked him to inspect the furnace first, he didn't. He installed the new blower motor, and — only after he was finished — said to me: "By the way, that noise you're hearing wasn't the blower motor; it was your filter. It needs to be cleaned." He then told me he hadn't heard me ask for him to inspect the furnace first. He also told me he though the furnace needed replacing. He didn't check the furnace filter, which was actually clean. Then they charged me more than $900 for the blower part. I found out later that their cost was more like $200 for that part. I called the company and complained about the service I had received as well as the cost. A manager called me, was very condescending, and told me that the tech who came was not the best communicator, but was one of the best techs he had. He refused to give me any refund. He did indicate that if I wanted to replace the furnace they would give me some sort of discount since they had replaced the blower motor. The tech also left a mess. He didn't take the old blower motor with him or clean up after his installation. I was taken to the cleaners by Favret. Warning to all -- but especially to any single people out there. DO NOT USE FAVRET!

Great, but that's the usual for this company. We've used them for more than 10 years - first to install a replacement for our old air conditioner and furnace and then to maintain the new products under their service contract. I highly recommend them and their service contact. It's allowed us to keep our heating and cooling system in good condition and alerted us to repairs that were needed before a system failure that might have struck in extremely hot or cold weather, on a holiday, etc. Favret even found a heat pump problem just before the warranty expired on the original one and we got a free replacement heat pump. Much better than waiting until the heat pump failed completely and the warranty had expired. Every technician they've sent to our house has been knowledgeable, polite, careful of our floors and carpet, and ready to answer any question we had. This is an excellent company!

This review is being done at the request of my mother who had a heating and cooling system installed in June/July 2021. The techs from Favret were very professional, tidy, and kept her updated on every step of the installation process. Upon completion, the techs made sure that everything was in working order before accepting payment for the job. The issue/complaint comes in regarding the insulation wrap used on the Ac pipes. It appears to be a very cheaply made material that is being held in place with duct tape instead of zip ties or some other clamping material or device. The ac unit also should have been placed closer to the structure to reduce the space between it and the house. Between that and the cheap white pipe wrap, that is secured with duct tape, it gives the entire project a gaudy appearance that resembles a child's first science project made with parts from the scrap yard. The unit functions as intended, but has a Frankenstein appearance to it. This might be a petty complaint to some, but as the attached pictures will attest, it is not a meritless complaint. For a job costing just shy of $8K, one should expect a better looking finished product that isn't secured with duct tape and bubble gum.

Contacted Favret and scheduled an appt for 8/5/2020 @1:30pm Paul Williams called me on that day @1:30 and told me he would be late, he arrived at 2:00pm. Discussed replacing a/c and furnace, liked what he said, He told me he would send us the proposal via snail mail. Been two weeks and still have not heard from them. So am writing to advise others not to hire this company to work for you, They should know that they blew it as this would have been a cash sale and would have gotten the work, but I guess our house wasn't nice enough or located in UA to bother them with installing a new furnace and a/c unit, or having the common decency to at least let us know that they weren't interested in doing the work as they have far too much money and don't need ours. We have started a complete renovation of the home and they would have figured prominently in our plans, but not now, so don't even think of calling us as we will hire another company. I don't get why companies waste your time with free estimates and then don't have the common courtesy to contact you with at least a yay or nay.

Extremely displeased with their service. They ripped me off for $152 service call after telling me something completely different when I called. They lost a service customer and a future furnace/ac customer with 15 year old equipment. Poor way to treat long-time customer.

Very well. We didn't do comparison estimates because we have been service contract customers for Favret for more than 10 years for our 5 bedroom home, and we have always been pleased. The company offered us three options and didn't press us to choose the most expensive.

Instead of sending an installer, Favret sent a technician and he didn't know what he is doing. He tried to put the trunk line back up but he didn't put it up properly and it didn't connect. Then he told us that he couldn't do it, it can't be fixed and it needed the whole trunk line to be replaced. He said he would send out a salesman to send us a quote and we paid him $221 before he left. After he left, we called the company and talked to John. I asked him why he thought it needed to be replaced and he said the wrong guy was sent out and it needed to be an installer and that he will send 2 persons to do the work right. The next day, only 1 guy showed up and instead of just taking the part, he tried to moved it a little bit at a time and this took for couple hours and we kept telling him to just take it back down and put it back up altogether. 2 hours later, another guy showed up and helped him by just handing tools. It took them 3 hours to complete the job. We were charged 2 hours of labor from the day before when the work wasn't done correctly then they charged us again for another 3 hours of labor for $400. On the invoice, it stated that we were being charge for a total of 5 hours of labor for $400 but we already paid for the 2 hours labor before. I called the company again and talked to Mark, he said that the $400 was for 2 persons and a reduced price as the normal price for 5 hours of labor is $988. We feel we were being over charge because we were paying for a labor that wasn't done correctly and for a labor from fixing it. We think that the work should take only an hour if they sent out the right person to begin with and we shouldn't have to pay so much for this job. We feel that we were paying for the mistakes of their employee. In addition, they also are expecting a payment of $90 for the whole roll of the tape that they used. I told Mark that they only used about a third of the roll and he said that they always charge for the whole roll no matter how much they use.

How did it go? Painfully. Here's my experience; take heed. Favret's first 30 minutes of inspection costs roughly $5/minute. Every minute thereafter is roughly $3/minute. The conflict of interest is we customers want the worker to work efficiently and effectively because we're paying a lot of money per minute (like paying a highly skilled lawyer), while Favret earns more revenue by working slowly and wasting time. I hired Favret to install our HVAC in 2010 after normally using Atlas Butler b/c a friend was a salesman. Five years later we had a LOUD screeching sound so Favret made an "adjustment", which was noted on my service record on their computer system. This past December (2018) the same LOUD screeching noise returned so we called for service, but this time we no longer had labor warranty. We were told if the service person discovered that a replacement part was needed the labor clock would pause until the job could be completed. Since we told Favret it was the exact sound from 2015 we assumed the service person would immediately know what was needed by looking at our service record from 2015. Nope. He took 15 minutes to diagnose the issue, which was the same issue, and went to his truck and sat for TEN MINUTES ordering the part. TEN MINUTES!! $50 of mine to order my part!! Inconceivable. You'd think he could text the part needed in 20 seconds, but I paid $50 to Favret for him to sit in his truck for $5/minute for 10 minutes at my house. REALLY? I asked the service person if I paid for his truck-time and he said Yep. I said we were at 25 minutes and understood the labor clock paused until he returned with the part. He said "Nope. If it makes you feel better, I can go into your furnace room and stand for 5 minutes." Cocky and rude! It's my $150 for 30 minutes not his, and he clearly couldn't care less. Interestingly, when the service guy finished and I owed roughly $200 for the job, he whipped out his smartphone, swiped my card, I signed and the payment transaction was completed in 30 seconds. Yet, it took 10 minutes sitting in the truck and $50 of mine to order my part? Seems like technology was used to Favret's advantage, not mine. I called the service manager John who ultimately comped me 15 minutes ($45) but was clearly not remorseful regarding my experience. So I emailed my salesman friend, Jim, and copied John and Favret's owner and president, Phil Favret, but never heard from any of them (I called my friend to ensure they'd rec'd my email and they had), which proved to me that the message while on hold with Favret about family values and caring for customers since the 1920s no longer was true. I won't give Favret another dime and strongly encourage you to investigate other, likely smaller HVAC companies who still need to care about serving customers well.

I've had a service contract with Favret for 15 years. Techs have always been professional and have done a great job of keeping my 32 year old system running. Good communication - let you know when it's time to schedule a spring/fall tune-up and keep you updated on arrival time on the day you have an appointment. Recently I had issues with my a/c not cooling. I called and they had a tech at my house a couple of hours later and he solved our problem. I was impressed they were taking care of their customers at 10PM on a Saturday night. I would definitely recommend Favret to my friends.

They were very professional, used drop cloths on carpet. It took them 2 days to finish the job, which is not a complaint, due to the quality and detail of the install. They put in a new humidifier, new WiFi thermostat, ran ductwork to a new register in corner of kitchen that had issues with temperature, installed dampers in duct work, PVC piping for 90+ furnace, installed nice outside covering for (down the side of the house) new A/C line set, new outside disconnect with fuses for A/C. They cleaned up any messes as they went. Had the air conditioning up and running before they left. This was a complete Carrier brand installation, with warranties.

Technician arrived on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. Was able to order the part and come back the same day to fix it. It was a bad gas valve for our 20 year old furnace. Unfortunately, I have a propane furnace and it was for natural gas only. So a conversion kit was ordered and installed the next day. During the first day, the furnace was still able to produce heat, but not as efficient as being set up for propane. So, we had heat after the initial gas valve was installed.

We have been using Favret since we moved to Columbus in 1997, mainly because the furnace of the house we bought had their sticker on it. Technicians are always knowledgible and polite. We subscribe to the maintenance plan from Favret where we pay a yearly fee and they inspect AC and furnace in spring and fall, respectively. This also gives you some priority and discount on new products, I think. This really helped us a few years ago when our AC went out and quickly replaced. This time we were noticing a problem with the AC just before the Favret inspection in October. They found we needed a new furnace. The salesman came out the next day and we got the new furnace the day after that. I am very happy with the fast response. Granted this the off season. We also have a son with special needs who cannot sleep except under precise temperatures - I think Favret knows this and makes a special effort. Yes, I hear the same radio commercials about H&C companies snookering people, but this furnace was 20 years old and Favret has been maintaining it for 10 years for us, so if they are trying to pull a fast one they sure are slow about it. Favret always calls before they arrive, but when someone came to inspect the job we got the call just a minute or two before they arrived. This is my only small complaint. But if they are always this responsive I can live with this. Also recommend the maintenance plan - in this case it allowed us to get a problem fixed before bad weather could have made for a really bad situation.
