I appreciate they didn't recommend anything more than what needed to be done.
Description of Work: Our air conditioner wasn't working up to snuff. They inspected the system, cleaned things out, recommended I replace the filter and everything worked fine afterwards.

The technician showed up on time and quickly evaluated the issues. The was able to fix everything quickly and give us instructions on how to avoid a service call in the future.

It went well. We were told by a competitor - Columbus-Worthington Air - that our 20 year old furnace could not keep up with a bitter cold snap that sent temps into the sub zero range. They quoted us a Bryant system for over $10k. We got a second quote from Favret, got a comparable Carrier model of the system for over $2500 less. Carrier and Bryant are made by the same company and are therefore similar, but Carrier is considered the Cadillac of the line while Bryant is the Chevy. Both nice, but I would not have expected Bryant to be more expensive, and especially not by that much. Favret obviously gave us a better price and they were punctual and efficient in getting the new system in. It has been running for about a week and the house is more comfortable, quieter... A nice upgrade to what we had. One thing that bothered me - although we never discussed or pursued financing the purchase, Favret ran a credit inquiry on us anyway. Since frequent credit inquiries hurt a credit score, I didn't appreciate them doing that without my knowledge and without a reason to do so.

We woke up to a cold condo on 01-8-14. Throughout the night the furnace quit working. I called Farvet Heating and cooling and they were to come by 1200-4:00 PM. They called and came earlier, which was a good thing. The tech came in and explained their rates of $130.00 for the first 40 min and so much afterward. Anyhow he came in and put on protective foot ware so as not to track into the condo. Nice gesture. He looked at the thermostat and replaced the batteries and then checked the furnace which he troubleshot to the igniter. Lucky he had the igniter on his truck, replaced it and the furnace worked like before. Wow warmth again in about 30 min total. He knew what he was looking for and got it fixed. The one issue I had was the cost of the part. He charged me $80.00 for a $22.00 part on Amazon. I know that we needed the part but almost 4 times the cost of the part is high. The tech was prompt, polite, and knowledgable and I understand pricing but $210.00 (minus 10% of the service charge for using Angie's list) for a part that would cost me $22.00 (Charged $80.00) was a bit pricy.
Description of Work: My furnace quit working on one of the colder days in Columbus. The tech came and troubleshot the issue and fixed the problem. Very knowledgable and got the house warm again

I think they did a great job on the installation and maintenance of my air conditioner. They were very fair and honest and I think they are great. I've used them since 2009. I think they are very thorough in their inspections and cleanings. You get what you pay for.

Before the tech arrived, I called him back because the furnace begin to work. He was not upset in fact he gave me a few pointers was completely honest about the emergency cost $130 to come out suggested I call Monday morning.

The technician arrived on time. He removed the old furnace and installed the new Carrier infinity model. Afterwards, a second technician arrived to perform a quality check and show me how to work the new thermostat. The next day there were couple of minor issues that were quickly resolved.
Description of Work: Installed new furnace -- Carrier Infinity model 59TN6A080, 2 stage gas, variable speed blower, 96% efficient.

There was some knocking through the floor when the heat would kick on, and they found the problem in the subfloor/flooring. It took two days to find, but they didn't charge us for the second time coming out since the problem wasn't fixed the first time. They were very kind.

Changed a complicated furnace filter and checked out my gas furnace for winter. Sold me a contract for one year on both my heat pump & gas furnace. Will check my heat pump in spring as a part of my warranty. I only pay for any parts needed minus 10%. Got some good advice from the service tech. and he checked my water heater while he was down there. He also wore shoe covers! I was impressed with Thomas, my technician.

I have used Favret for at least 25 years to service my air conditioners and furnaces. When my old furnace died, I called Favret for an estimate for a new furnace and honestly would not have gotten another estimate except that Favret told me I had to pay 75% before the work began or they would run a credit check on me. I thought this was rule 101 of consumer protection, never to pay more than 1/3 or 1/2 before the work begins. I was so offended by this policy that I bought the new furnace from a different company with good Angie's List reviews.

After Favret left, my husband looked at our furnace and saw an obviously loose wire near the circuit board. He re-connected the wire, and our furnace is up and running now! If we had taken Favret's advice, we would've replaced the furnace at an estimated cost of $3,000 to $4,500 when all we needed was to re-connect the wire.
Description of Work: Our furnace wasn't working, and Favret made a diagnosis that we needed a new circuit board. They said we might still have problems after we replace the circuit board, so they strongly urged us to replace the furnace.

First, they no-showed us for a Saturday service call. The second date we had scheduled they arrived on time but one of the two men that came to do the repair was very rude and condesending. Apparently it is not common practice to obtain enough information over the phone prior to the service call to actually be able to perform the service at the time that they arrived. The repairmen went and looked at our furnace, which had a leaky valve, and they informed me that they would have to order a part. The rest of the time was spent with them contacting the main office to see if they had a part in stock and when they could get back to do the replacement. We got absolutely nothing accomplished and had to pay $130 service call fee. I was extremely disappointed with the interraction and will NEVER use this company again.
Description of Work: We needed to replace a leaky gas valve in our furnace. All they could do the day they showed up was provide me with an estimate.

We are new to the area and checked our church bulletin advertisers against Angie's list reviews, as we were getting an error message on our AC system. After leaving an after-hours message for the answering service, the tech called within minutes to assess the problem. Within 5 minutes, he had assessed the problem and told me how to fix it myself, saving me the cost of a service call. His assessment was dead-on accurate and fixed within minutes. Favret has earned our future business without a doubt.

Everything went well as usual. This time, I reminded the service person that the outside air conditioner had to be checked to see if everything was OK for the winter. Usually I don't need to do so. We have been using this company since we moved in the house in 1997 (they were introduced by the last owner) and we have been completely satisfied with their service.
Description of Work: Maintenance of our furnace, humidifier, water heater, and air conditioner.

Returned from a trip to find the air conditioner not working. Called Favret and they had a serviceman out that afternoon. The servicement had the air conditoner running in a very short time. The necessary parts were still under warranty. The main office called later in the day to check on our satisfaction with the service. We are higly pleased with Favret.

We will only use Favret! This is the second summer we have had to refill our A/C unit with freon as we have a slow leak. Favret is always available same day or next day at the latest. They came out, properly diagnosed the problem and quickly fixed it. We did not get the hard sales tactics of trying to sell us more than we needed. That is so much appreciated. Favret is dependable, reliable and honest. When our unit does go out we will definitely be purchasing from Favret!

We have used Favret for BOTH our Office and Home for MANY YEARS and been very satisfied. Lately, however, that level of service has disminished. September 6, 2013 we had our semi-annual maintenance at our office. The serviceman was someone we had never seen before. Our furnace is in our attic right over top of my husband's desk. When we have service we cover almost everything in the office with blankets before we pull down the attic steps because dust and insulation flies EVERYWHERE. Also because of the way the steps were originally installed WE pull the steps down ourselves as you could hit the wall and doorway woodwork. When the maintenance is done we have to take all of the blankets off, shake them out, and vacuum. So, it is a fair amount of work everytime we have Favret come for maintenance. On this particular trip the serviceman DID NOT HAVE ANY FURNANCE FILTERS with him. At the time my husband was taking care of a customer so he didn't have time to address this STRANGE situation. The serviceman said the filter we had 'was fine.' WE ALWAYS get the filter changed! That is what we pay for! Also my husband is handicapped and cannot easily crawl up into the attic. Today he went out and bought filters (a bunch of them) and changed the filter himself. (Yes, after we had to do all the 'room prep' work AGAIN!) He got the filter changed and hurt his leg in the process. I just bandaged it. Also, this is a seperate issue but in May of this year we were shopping for a new furnace and A/C for our 25-year-old home. Having used FAVRET for years they were the FIRST company we called. We got a bid of $8,810 from Richard Sprowls. He said at the sales call he could NOT adjust that price AT ALL without the owner's authority. We continued to get 3 more bids (all lower). We learned a lot in this process and called Richard back with questions. Richard never returned our calls. We learned Richard was trying to sell us much more than we needed for our 1,100 sq. ft. ranch. We end up and purchased a furnace and A/C from another highly-rated furnace company on AL for $5,500. This other salesman answered our questions and calls promptly and thoroughly, installation was fantastic and we are SAVING money on our heat and a/c costs---of course we use this NEW company for our Home Maintenance now. We wanted to continue to use FAVRET for our Office but with the latest happenings we are questioning if that is a good idea.
