Custom Air Conditioning & Heating

The repairman, Chad, was extremely nice and knowledgeable. My dad was in the hvac business for over 50 years, but recently retired and did not have the equipment available to repair a leak, so we called Custom Air. Having an idea already of where the leak was located, Chad listened to our descriptions of the problem, then followed through with the proper diagnostic process when looking for a leak. He explained the hourly fee for labor and proceeded to fix the leak, which he described as a factory weld defect. Unfortunately for us, it wasn't a warranty item to replace, but simply labor to weld the piece of copper that was damaged. We lost almost all of our refrigerant and needed to add 6 pounds back to our system. The per pound price of $30 was very fair. After fixing the leak, Chad stayed around to make sure that temperature was adjusting accordingly, then proceeded to save us money on the service call fee by offering to give us the one year maintenance plan for very little extra. This was not a pressured sales tactic, but simply a choice given to either pay the $90 service call fee or receive additional services. My choice. In addition, Chad suggested I try and contact the manufacturer to see if I could recoup some of the money I paid to repair a defect in their manufacturing process. He even wrote out the invoice stating it was a defect so I could show proof of claim. I will definitely be using Custom Air in the future!

They are excellent. I call and they do the appointment and they come and do the work. They tell me that everything is fine and I pay them and off they go. I never had a problem.

We had a service call on Tuesday and they were back on Saturday to fix the valve. Both technicians were very professional and helpful especially in understanding the problem and the work involved. It was around a 4 hour process to replace the valve. The company was very quick in responding back to keep me informed on getting the part and what the cost would be. Fortunately we still were under parts warranty so only had to pay labor costs. I would highly recommend this company.

They do a good job. I have worked with them commercially for quite some time. I work in commercial real estate property management so that is the provider we have used for years and they have always done a fine job for us.

Appointment had been scheduled for the next day and they called late in the afternoon and could see me the same day. It was a hot, muggy day and I was glad to have the repairs done a day early! The tech was friendly and went about his work - he knew what he was doing. I will definitely contact them for future repairs and when I am ready for a new furnace and heat pump.

They went the extra mile to make sure we were getting the assistance we needed. The entire experience was great. I was impressed with their work and their product. The employees were great. I couldn't be happier.

The inspection went well. The service technician was very thorough and actually found a wire that had not been attached to circuit board as it should have been. A minor oversight by previous technician. He checked thermostat, filter, blower, compressor, fan motor, washed OD coil.

I checked with several companies about what kind of pricing they had and Custom Air price was comparable with others. I think that they are a dependable company. We are very pleased with the unit and I think they do a good job. They are very professional. They did excellent work on installation.

They did a really good job. They came in and they were nice. They cleaned up everything. The price was reasonable.

There are discounts on their service costs. They tell you what's wrong, and they don't try to pull the wool over your eyes or anything like that. They're an honest company. I don't have anything to compare the price with, because we haven't shopped around for that. It was very good.

Everything went perfect. Very nice and prompt and showed and explained what the problem was and how much to fix it. Also gave me some helpful tips to watch for in the future. I have used them before when they installed my new furnace and air conditioning unit a few years ago and was very impressed with their products, quality, and price, that I didn't hesitate to call them again when I needed something.

It was fabulous. They were prompt, timely, kept to their budget, did a great job, and now we?re way more efficient.

Custom Air is wonderful! I can't say enough about Ty Gates who gave the initial information, answered questions whenever I called, gave us helpful advice even before we hired Custom Air, and installed the furnace himself along with two other hard-working men. Background: My son and I had been investigating new furnaces for a house he just purchased. Out of 4 companies we contacted, Custom Air gave us the most clear information on the effieciency of several furnaces, exact pricing for each, and informed us about Energy Rebates available to us which enabled us to get more efficiency for lower prices. We asked general HVAC questions. Ty answered with clear information and addressed our concerns about the ducts in the slab floor. He suggested a company, Stanley Steemer, who cleaned these very dirty ducts, examined with a camera, and assured us they were sound. We received lower Custom Air pricing for that cleaning. I called Ty more times with additional questions. He was always friendly and answered thoughtfuly and completely even if I couldn't ask things in HVAC lingo. My son and I decided Custom Air was by far the best for good information and transparency on pricing. When I called to schedule the furnace for my son's house , I mentioned that sometime I'd like Custom Air to check my furnace. Occassionally I thought I smelled gas. Ty asked me where I smelled it. When I answered more questions, he said he would be out about noon. My furnace had a crack in the heat exchange. A day and a half later they installed a new furnace/AC and brought installation, pipes etc. up to today's standards. They arrived on time, amazed me with their efficiency in taking out the old, bringing in the new. Two, sometimes three, men worked hard from 8:30 to 3:00. They were courteous, thoughtful and left everything cleaner than it had been! They replaced anything they had to move (a lot of old teaching supplies) and in the right place! I am loving the even temperature and feeling of fresh air in my house! I should be saving 1/3-1/2 on my heating bills this winter.

We prepay $300/year for our main furnace and an attic in-wall heating/AC unit to be serviced. This was our fall servicing. at the spring service appt. and 2x since then, I told Custom Air that we needed a supply vent in the basement to prevent pipe freeze as happened last year and that we wanted it done on this fall service appt. Custom Air called us the day before the appt. and asked to move it from 9:00 AM to 8:00 AM. We said fine. On the day of our appt. Scott came at 8:00 but sat outside in his truck for a few minutes before coming to the door. He was very nice and upon inspecting the thermostat, told my husband that the touch screen was broken and that the thermostat would need to be replaced. My husband went to Lowe's to purchase a new thermostat for Scott to install. In the meantime, Scott serviced both furnaces and cleaned the outside heat pumps of leaves and dirt. The furnaces and heat pumps were working fine. Then Scott tried to sell us some sort of safety wire to be installed under the AC drip pan in the attic. Since Custom Air had installed that drip pan and other parts to that unit before, asked why it hadn't been done at that time? Was told it was an extra safety precaution. I refused. My husband bought a NEST thermostat for Scott to install. He chose this after extensive research on the product, good written reviews, and because it can be programmed from his smart phone. Scott proceeded to tell us how "bad" the NEST was, how they have had to repair or replace a lot of them, and that it was not a good product. Scott then proceeded to try to see us a new thermostat through Custom Air, giving us price ranges between $100+ dollars and $600 + dollars. We told him no, we wanted the NEST installed. He kept repeating that it was not a good product and it was clear he did not want to install it but wanted us to buy one from them. We said no. It wasn't installed. Then Scott gave us the estimate for the supply vent and said he would have to come back to do that. I told him no. I had scheduled it to be done TODAY, had told his office this 3x since spring and we did not want him to come back. We expected it to be done today. He said he had to call his office and went out on the front porch to do so. He came back in and said no, he couldn't do it today and would have to come back. At that point, I had had it. I told him not to come back. That we were DONE with Custom Air and why. That they had just lost a customer of well over 10 years. He said he was sorry, had me sign off the paperwork and initial that I had refused the estimate for the supply vent and that I had refused the safety drip pan wire and left. I called Custom Air, told them why I was unhappy, and that they had lost a customer. Randy, the Service Manager, did call me later and I told him all of the above. Randy's response was to tell me that there was nothing he could do if I had made up my mind to drop them but if I could think of anything, he would be glad to work with me. His response was half hearted at best. He did not offer any apologies for the supply vent work not being done, or for the aggressive sales pitch by Scott for products we didn't need or for Scott not installing the NEST thermostat that we purchased and asked him to install. This is not the first time we have had problems with Custom Air but because of our long standing history, we have overlooked things that we probably should not have. In the last few years, they have become more and more aggressive with trying to sell products that are not needed and rarely send out the same technicians so we have to explain over and over again where everything is and what has been done. We are looking for a new service provider.

I hired them to replace a furnace and air conditioner in July. When they did that, I assumed the duct work would be checked out to make sure it was set up correctly for the new appliances, balanced, connected, in good shape. This apparently was NOT done when the equipment was installed because when the weather got cold, I had no heat going to my bedroom. I called them and they came back and found the ductwork was not connected to the bedroom vents, and reconnected them I would think since everything was still under warranty they would not have charged me, but they did. Almost $200. For work that should have been done when the equipment was installed. I would never use them again.

We like the guy that comes out and it’s the same guy each time. He’s a real nice guy. He’s real thorough and spends a lot of time. We’ve had no problems with them so far. The price is competitive compared to everybody. They seem to have good customer service.

Outstanding service! I called on Tuesday afternoon at 4pm and they could come out that evening for a higher rate which I would have done had I not had to work that evening. They scheduled me for the following afternoon. I was running late getting off work so called them and they were able to go to the next appt. and then come to me afterward so they could accommodate my schedule; that NEVER happens. They arrived, assessed the situation, explained what went wrong and repaired it. However, they went beyond. This was the second instance of the same part going out so he went through and assessed my entire unit to make sure there was nothing else going on. Again, that NEVER happens. Thank you Custom Air, you have a very loyal customer here. Great job!!

One of the best experiences ever! From setting up my estimate, the NO PRESSURE, very informative salesman, to installers. Just excellent. Profession from all aspects of beginning to end of project. Great on- going communication as well as follow up after the job was finished today. Highly recommend!

This is the second time I have used this company and my experience was the same both times. They are polite, professional, knowledgeable, and get the job done in a timely manner. You simply cannot ask for a better company for heating and air conditioning services. I cannot imagine hiring anyone else....................thank you!

The service team arrived on time. They were punctual, curteous and concerned. They removed the old furnace and heat pump. They made changes necessary to lines. They installed the new equipment. They cleaned up both inside and out. They were very efficient and it was all business the entire time they were here. It was very impressive.

Fast and professional. Investigated the problem and found that the thermostat needed replacement. While I was questioning whether it was really the thermostat to blame, the technician explained how he determined that the thermostat needed replacement, and it made sense. I bought and replaced the thermostat the next day, and had no issues since.

I call them because they are the ones that put in my ductless unit. It seems simpler to have them service the unit they put in. I’m very happy with them and I would recommend them. As long as they do what I’m paying for, that’s all I care about. They certainly charge fairly and it's a fair price for the work they do.

Met at our home with them and got an estimate. When we decided to go with Custom Air, they got us on the scheduled right away and kept us informed. The workers arrived on time. We were having a water heater replaced at the same time and they worked well with the other contractor. They removed existing furnace and heat pump and installed new equipment.

It went very well. It was neat and orderly and done on time. Very happy with the savings with the energy efficient furnace I got.

During the recent string of below zero weather, our furnace went out in the middle of the night. I tried to fix the problem myself, but was unable to solve the problem. I called Custom Air, and even though they were jammed up with calls (it being the coldest day in recent memory), they were able to send out Rod, who took the time to get my furnace running and explain to me some tips for keeping my house warm. I would highly recommend Custom Air to anyone and even purchased a service package so that my system remains "tuned-up."
