It is quality. We've used them for 15 years. Any problems we have they are here in a heartbeat. They diagnosed a problem, but it wasn't their fault. Your electric heat pump doesn't last as long as a gas. It had to be replaced and we didn't know it. They found out after 12 years. It didn't seem to be working. They came right out. He knew exactly what the problem wrong. He was right and once we had it replaced it worked. We keep going back for their honesty, professionalism and they are wonderful.

One thing I like is that they mostly send the same repair person each time, so they know me and they know the furnace or the air conditioning and make good recommendations. I had to replace my thermostat this last time when he came for the air conditioning. And I had mentioned to him it wasn't 100% reliable. If I set it for a certain number, say 71, it might do 69 or it might do 73. So he didn't try to sell me one he just recommended if I were gonna replace it which one I should get it. I got it and I'm very happy with it. They clean up everything when they're done. He's very good at explaining. They give me a paper at the end writing out what they did and if there were any recommendations they write them on there and give me it in writing.

The heat pump we had chosen was larger than we expected and the installers worked with us and the office to change the model and get a smaller one with almost the same efficiency - and still completed all the installation in the promised two days. Sales and installation was done in a very professional, customer-satisfaction manner. We were very pleased that we worked with Custom Air.

They tried to convince me that I had to replace my air conditioner. It was just this one instance I had been using them I had a service contract. And they did decent work, but this one time the guy they sent he was too lazy to really get into the equipment to find what was wrong he just proclaimed it broken. They tried to make it up to me when I confronted them on it but they gave me an extra 6 month on my service warranty which I accepted. After the service warranty was over I did not renew.

I've used them for several years. They are honest and straightforward. They just come and make sure everything's working okay. It usually takes about half an hour or 45 minutes to do everything. They are honest. They are nice. They don't try to tell you something is wrong when there isn't. They are honest and forthright. They are courteous. They always wear the little covers on their shoes, so they are courteous not to get your carpet or anything dirty. They are very punctual.

We first called another contractor. When they looked at our unit, they replaced a contactor and capacitor (guessing), but could not figure out what was wrong. After the two guys spent two hours looking around, they ended up telling us we had too many registers closed and too much airflow (kinda funny if you think about it), and said we need to close the drapes. A second (very unpleasant) contractor was called and arrived a day or two later. When they looked at it they said "that machine is a nightmare and I won't work on it" and drove off. I called to ask about it and they said they were not comfortable working on it because it had safety controls and wiring. Custom Air was called next and they scheduled us for that same day. Tim arrived and put his refrigerant gauges on and measured pressures. He left the gauges on as we checked the air supply and made sure dampers and registers were open. As the unit ran, the supply temp drifted up and the gauges dropped 30 psi pointing to a bad TXV. We looked at the evaporator coil and found it had started to frost up as the refrigerant pressure dropped. To get us by, Tim jury rigged the TXV to not drift so it would work ok till repaired. The new TXV part was ordered and replaced earlier today and unit is now operating great. We will be calling Custom Air for all future HVAC repairs.

Our Air Conditioner stopped working. We tried to live with it for a few weeks, but realized a fix was needed. We called a service provider and they diagnosed a bad compressor. (A $1900 repair). So we called several top recommendations for AC from Angie's list. All suggested a new unit and gave us quotes. Ty from Custom AIR came and gave us the quote. Then he looked very carefully at the unit and found a simple blown capacitor and replaced it on the spot. We now have air conditioning instead of suffering in the heat. I was turned onto Custom AIR by a colleague. I teach at a community college and I found that one of our Adjunct faculty in HVAC was the president of custom AIR. I cross checked the company rating on Angie's list and BBB and gave them a call. I was so impressed with their professionalism, that when my AC unit really does die for good. Custom Air will get the call.

I started a few months back getting quotes from different places to replace heating and air condition system. Well, it happened. My system went down and I was left without heat and air. I called Custom Air and Scott H. came out the very next day for a quote. Scott H. was very thorough with the quote and explained the whole process from start to finish and detailed each and every system. I ended up going with a Trane system. The quote was given to me on a Tuesday and the install was the following Tuesday. The day of the install came and the installers showed up on time and ready to go. They were great and explained the steps necessary and took the time to explain the system. Also, I chose a high efficiency furnace and when installing the pipes, we had a few options and those options were discussed and the best idea was the one that was chosen. From start to finish, the whole process went smoothly and I will always recommend Custom Air to anybody that needs a new system. The whole staff from the initial call all the way until the follow up call after the system was installed was great. Extremely professional and very caring.

Salesman, Dave Rector, came out to give us an estimate and explain which models of a Trane Air Conditioner would work best for our house. He was very knowledgeable. He gave us lots of stats and information that other providers we got estimates from did not. He knows his business. Technician's Nate and Sam came out to replace the 19 year old Trane Air Conditioner that would not work anymore. They also installed all new AC Coils and a Honeywell Thermostat. Both men were very polite and friendly. I asked a lot of questions and they answered all of them. I was very particular about the spot that the new air conditioner would be located at and they were very accommodating. These men took their time to go through each process and make sure I understood what they were doing. I felt very comfortable having them in my house. I would recommend them to anyone. They have been in business a long time and have evolved with the industry.

My neighbor, a retired engineer, was right on the money when he recommended Custom Air for our new heating or cooling equipment. Office staff, sales and installers are total professionals and very friendly. Ty Gates did a terrific job laying out our options for a new Trane HVAC system plus a Mitsubishi Mini Split to heat and cool our third floor. We had presentations from three companies and quotes from two. Ty beat the other company’s price by over $1,600 including rebates — more, actually, because Custom Air’s quote included a remote thermostat for the second floor, external temperature sensor, an internet connector for the app, and a sensor that notifies us if there is water on the basement floor. He also saved us over $1,000 in rebates (the other company had missed the $200 AEP rebate for the mini split). We also appreciated his making it possible for us to speak with two people for whom Custom Air had installed Mitsubishi Mini Splits. Custom Air is a Diamond Contractor for Mitsubishi, which means they have specialized training and the parts warranty is 12 years instead of the standard 10 years. Ty also balanced our ducts and supervised and followed up on the installation. He was easy to talk to and answered texts and emails promptly. The installation team, led by Chris, was terrific. The crew put down dropcloths to protect our wood floors. They needed to drill through brick and plaster to install the Mitsubishi Mini Split. It could have been a huge mess, but they tented the area in plastic. It was a pleasure having Chris, Perry and Nate in our home. Mark, the electrician, also did an excellent job. Everyone was super nice. These folks are all staff, not subcontractors. The plastic parts to be installed on the outside of our redbrick house are beige, so we bought a can each of plastic primer and paint and gave them to Ty. The crew painted the parts offsite and brought them all ready to go. It ended up taking 5 cans of spray paint to cover the length of wire molding up the side of our house and the condensation exhaust cover, and Custom Air went out and bought the extra paint. We appreciated this extra service. They also carried our old window air conditioner down two flights of stairs and hauled it away. The new furnace and air conditioning compressor are much quieter than our old equipment, and it’s great having a remote thermostat on the second floor so we don’t have to go downstairs to change the temperature. The Mitsubishi Mini Split is a huge improvement over the window air conditioner and baseboard heating we had been using on the third floor. It’s energy efficient, super quiet (inside and out) and the temperature is always just right. Like the Trane HVAC, this system includes a remote thermostat and an app. We are thrilled with our new systems and with Custom Air’s excellent installation. Exceeded expectations! Highly recommend!

We could not have expected more effort and empathy than we received from the wonderful people at Custom Air. Our HVAC unit was installed almost 19 years ago which was, from what we found, lasted longer than the normal. As luck would have it, the worst of the worst happened at the worst time. If people remember, the Labor Day weekend of 2015 was on of the hottest on record. Almost exactly at 5pm my wife mentioned if I thought it was warmer. I checked and as fears the A/C was not blowing cold air. I tried everything to reset it, but to no avail. Temperatures forcasted to to be in the mid 90's the entire week. At 7pm we called the C/A emergency number and and the service tech responded withing a couple of hours. He tried everything under the sun, or moon, to get the compressor working again. Spent 2 hours cooling it down, rewiring the startup capacitor but it was a a lost cause. At 10pm at night he called representative, the nicest and patient Mr. Scott Haring. Scott assured us that he would be over the very next day (Saturday Labor Day weekend) to talk to us and talk about options. He arrived right on time and it was obvious we needed a new A/C but we decided that the A/C is almost 2/3 of the actual full HVAC system so we replaced the furnace, older blower motor that failed 3 times before, with an equivalent higher SEER rating which luck would have it would fit into the exact space (same manufacturer) of the old internal unit. So now it's Sunday, calls are being placed, and we are running out buying box fans from Home Depot. Needless to say the next couple days were not something we would want to live through again, but keeping the house closed during the day and blowing the fans at night made it livable. On Tuesday when their warehouse opened (in another state) Scott personally called the manager of the facility to absolutely insure that the HVAC unit (we got lucky, they were out of the one we ordered and they substituted a higher AC unit at no cost to us, which translated to significant energy savings.) was on that days truck. It was put on the truck on Tuesday. Wednesday morning (counting out the days) the Custom Air installation crew and truck was pulling into our driveway at 8am! The heating unit they had in local stock, the outdoor compressor had to be picked up at the depot by the local CA head of installations and he personally drove it to our house by 2pm. By then, the crew had already removed the old unit from the basement, disconnected the old outside unit and had the inside unit partially installed. It was at that point that 2 people became a crew of 3 (way out of the call of duty) to finish the job. To cut what is already a long story short, the very first possible day that the equipment could have been procured it was installed and installed in a single day, 8am to 6pm. The professionalism of the installers are second to none, whey worked without hardly taking a break and we had to talk them into coffee and water. The knew what we (and our precious dogs) were, and had gone through. They even helped custom wire the unit to my Home Automation thermostat! They flipped the switch and everything came on and, as if by magic, cold air started to flow out the registers. While one was cleaning up the other was testing all the connections, taking measurements, making adjustments, double checking all their work and even using a magnet to clean up any traces of metal or FUD on the floor. I cannot say enough about the responsiveness of this company and I'm sure we made a great decision selecting them originally to install the original equipment and will use them, and recommend them exclusively to anyone in the future. On the efficiency note, I have a whole home power monitoring systems. The previous HVAC unit while under A/C was using 8.5 Kilowatt/hours of power. This higher efficiency unit uses just a hair over 6KWA!!! Also now that it's winter, the older unit had an A/C based blower motor that used approximately 2.5 KWA. The new ones use variable rate DC motors that vary their speed based on need. This unit draws under 1.8KWA and power consumption goes lower as the fan slows down when the temperature starts to reach normal. 2 Kilowatt hours of electrical use is no small matter. That is the equivalent to burning almost 25 older 100 Watt light bulbs for an entire hour, for hours! We have seen a significant decrease in both our electrical bill as well as our natural gas usage bills because of the higher efficiency and the fact that it doesn't have to run as hard for so long. Shorter times running combined with less energy usage is a win/win. We certainty did not expect this expense at such a critical time, But when when it came down to it Custom Air went out of their way to find us the best prices, energy credits and every discount they could find. We have recommended them and endorsed them to our neighbors who have built homes around the same time we did and a few have already taken the liberty of proactively replacing their units. When you have a critical piece of equipment that provides no warning signs of failure it's critical that you have a vendor and partner that understands your plight. It would have been easy to say that it was Labor Day weekend and they'd get to us on Tuesday which would have added days to completion of the project, but they came out Friday night and Scott took his Saturday day off to come over. He then continued with phone calls to everyone over the weekend to coordinate, and reschedule installs, to take care of us. We knew we were being given the white glove treatment from people that understand emergencies such as these. Mid-fall or spring it would not have been such an issue, but with temperatures and humidity in the 100's it was not fun. So the old saying if it can go wrong it will go wrong at exactly the wrong time is really true. I can wholeheartedly recommend and endorse the fine people and staff at Custom Air for any of your HVAC needs. Scott even made it a point to stop by a few days later to insure that everything was to our satisfaction. That's customer service. This review ended up rather long winded but it had to be brought into perspective using the Labor Day heat wave. If anyone would like to a personal recommendation they are more then welcome to contact Custom Air and have them give you our phone number. Great job from great guys and a great team!

Just purchasing a home and learning very quickly there are few companies in the world you can trust... we were more than pleased with our experience. I've even referred two of my co-works who also used them, everything from sales to the install was flawless. I met with several HVAC companies before discovering CA, it wasn't until I met with Dave that I realized all of those other companies were trying to sell me something I didn't need - almost double the cost of what I actually needed. The guys who came to do the install were so friendly and answered all questions we had. They had an issue because our basement isn't very tall which doubled their work - you can tell these guys love what they do because their response was "It's all part of the job" and "What is our company called? - Custom Air". This is all-star company and I recommend them to everyone!

The install crews were efficient and the basement was spotless when the job was completed. We are enjoying a warm home as a result of the gas conversion and furnace installation. I highly recommend Ty Gates and Custom Air for all HVAC related projects.
Description of Work: Gas Conversion: New furnace, AC unit, programmable thermostat and interior gaslines. Estimates received from three companies. Ty Gates, the representative from Custom Air, explained the conversion process and answered all questions in detail. We selected Custom Air because Ty Gates by far was more knowledgeable in regard to everything related to HVAC. He was onsite when needed throughout the process and available to answer additional questions. He is absolutely excellent!
