I was very pleased with their work. The workers were friendly and professional and came out when they said they would. You can call them anytime during your contract and they'll come right out to help. We're getting ready to hire them again. I would recommend them to others in need of their services. The approximate cost listed was for a years service contract.
Description of Work: They came out weekly to check on a problem we had with moles. I had a contract with them for this work. They kept coming out until they went away. They did this for us a year and a half ago.

I was very impressed by the professionalism. After his inspection & sealing the two places he found, I had a much higher comfort level that no more rodents would find their way inside.

I have used them for some time and find them very nice. They are very courteous and decent people. They are a pleasure to do work with and they really know their stuff. We will continue to use them for animal removal. Animal removal is not cheap so that is why there is a B in price, but I feel that I got what I paid for.
Description of Work: We have had them remove chimney swifts (small birds) nests from our chimney, a raccoon from our attic, and most recently we had them clear out grey squirrels. We have a large home so they sealed off different places where the animals are getting in and did a good job prevent future problems.

Very poor business practice as far as I'm concerned. It was a great disappointment considering they won the Angie's List Super Service Award in 2006.
Description of Work: My husband called them because we have squirrels in the attic. They wanted $165 for the estimate and $60 per squirrel. They also wanted our credit card number right then over the phone, which my husband gave them, and when I realized this I was upset and called them to cancel.

WE APPRECIATE EVERY COMMENT WE RECEIVE FROM ANGIE'S LIST SUBSCRIBERS. WE DO INDEED REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO SECURE APPOINTMENT TIMES. THIS HAS BEEN DONE TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF TIME WE SPEND IN COLLECTIONS AND BEING UNPAID FOR OUR SERVICE. IN ALL SERVICE INDUSTRIES, GETTING PAID FOR SERVICE HAS BECOME A MAJOR ISSUE. WHEN WE COLLECT A CREDIT CARD NUMBER IT IS SIMPLY ON FILE IN OUR SECURE SYSTEM. NO TECHNICIANS OR PERSONELL CAN SEE THE NUMBER OR ACCESS IT. WE VIEW IT VERY MUCH LIKE RESERVING A HOTEL ROOM, RENTAL CAR, OR DOING BUSINESS VIA THE INTERNET. CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS HAPPEN EVERY SECOND OF EVERY DAY TO RESERVE SERVICES. ANY METHOD OF PAYMENT IS ACCEPTABLE AND WE ONLY HOLD THE CARD INFORMATION IN THE EVENT THAT SERVICE WE HAVE PROVIDED GOES UNPAID. WHILE WE CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN, OUR POLICY TO ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS WAS INITIATED TO PREVENT "NO PAYS" AND "COLLECTIONS" PROCESSES. THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE HOWEVER, WE WILL USE IT TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE OUR SERVICES. MIKE FALER GENERAL MANAGER CRITTER CONTROL

The guys that came out (whose names I can't remember!) were professional and nice, and the second appointment for the actual repair was easily set up and accomplished. Considering the kind of ladder needed, and the work that was performed - AND the warranty on the work - I felt like the price (tho high) was reasonable.
Description of Work: After finding two bats in my house (well, my cats found them), I decided one bat was an anomoly, two bats was a problem. I had Critter Control come out and check for any sort of bat infestation, since the only access to my peak attic space is thru the vents at the ends (and I could clearly see where the screen over the vent was not attached in places) from the outside of the house. They got up into this space and also got into the knee wall space in the eaves of my house (cape cod) and checked for any evidence of a real bat problem. No such problem was found (PHEW!) and it was determined that the bats had entered because I have a white stucco house (which they apparently love) and the screens were broken and we'd had a sudden cold snap. It was decided that they would come back out, and install new sturdy screens.

Great! The company promptly responded to my concern as well as worked around my availability to be home. Since I could not always be there, when Tom checked my property, he would promptly call me from my premises and give me an update with the progress. I was also very grateful I did not have to deal with the mousetraps, nor dispose of any trapped rodents. It was all taken care of by Critter Control.
Description of Work: Tom, of Critter Control, came and inspected my property for which I thought may have been an over-population of voles on my premises, as I was seeing them all the time outside, and under my flower pots. He suggested an initial treatment of mousetraps to get the population under control, and then once that is done to use, about 3 bait stations concealed on different areas of my property to keep the rodents under control. He came every other day to check and clean the traps and reset new ones. The problem I had was not voles, but shrews!! As of this report, the problem is under control, no more mousetraps are being set, and I have 3 concealed bait stations, which Tom will check in 30 days and at that time, it will be decided as to whether or not I need to do this for another 30 days; it will be based on the amount of "bait" still left in the bait station.

The techs were at my house for about an hour and half. Both were very attentive, neat and thoroughly did a super job. They performed a complete inspection and put my mind at ease that no animals were getting into my home. Unfortunately, they discovered damp, wet issues with my attic insulation that are creating the foul musty odor I've been experiencing all summer. I have plans to replace it this fall. I appreciate the fact they wore shoe covers coming in the house, were very careful with their ladder not to hit any furniture, put a tarp down to catch insulation debris as they got into the attic opening and moved furniture out and back for me. Overall, a very good experience. The only drawback is they were not able to give an estimate for the removal of attic insulation. They said they needed to see how much was up there once a roofer removes the overlay. Because I would need to know the costs before work begins to select the best offer, I'll pursue other options.
Description of Work: Two men from Critter Control met me at my home from work and completed a very extensive inspection of my roof and house. They unfastened drywall in a small closet area upstairs so they could both poke their heads into my cape cod home attic space, which is shallow and not accessible. They closed everything back up. Discussed with me their findings, which gratefully did not include the presence of animals! They offered future preventative suggestions and talked to me about attic insulation removal and replacement.

We had never used an animal removal service and found everything from the initial contact with receptionist to Tom to be very friendly and professional.
Description of Work: We heard raccoons in our chimney and thought they had left, but sadly smelled dead animal two weeks later. Dear husband insisted we tape off the fireplace and re-open in six months (something we won't do if this ever happens again). In two weeks time we had fly issue. Embarrassingly called Critter Control and Tom was brave enough for the job. He endured flea bites and the job of two week old dead raccoon.

They did an excellent job as I haven't seen a mouse or squirrel since them. We were going to put a screen up to block the squirrels. They were the only company that said that is going to ruin the appearance of your house. They were on time, polite. Their price was comparable if not better for what they did. They left me a note every day on how many squirrels they took out of the trap.

This happened on a weekend, so I called their number and I got a call back advising I wait until Monday, since it was only a bird and was not flying around my house, in order to incur a lower service charge. The service guy came out actually a bit earlier than the scheduled time, but that was good since I came home at lunch to meet him. He removed the bird, which had since died and then checked the roof and chimney to make sure there was no big hole that more could fly in. He could find none, so he ruled it a fluke. I thought the service was very friendly and professional. What others have mentioned about this type of service being more expensive is true, however, I was willing to pay it.
Description of Work: A bird had gotten into the chimney and flew down two stories to be caught behind my cold air register in my living room. I called them to remove the bird, as it was clawing at the vent and was scratching around in there.

These guys rock. I had three other companies (all HVAC) come out to diagnose my malfunctioning bathroom vent, with no success. All three told me, "Your fan/vent is fine, but if you bought a bigger fan/motor, it would work better." Duh. Of course, none of them actually sell or install fans or motors, so I had to track down an electrician, who told me the same thing. Regardless, once we suspected we had birds, Tom from Critter Control came out the next day and had the problem solved in 45 minutes. Tom was awesome! He was straight forward, honest, funny, willing to climb into our crawl space, to do the job faster & better and the cost was reasonable.

For a couple of months my husband and I and our two children had been noticing increasingly disturbing "sounds" in our walls at night. It was loud enough to prevent falling asleep, wake you up, and scare the kids! Our imaginations were running wild. First we called a widely well-known exterminator. I gave our complete information to two different receptionists before finally being told that a local technician would be contacting me. Three days later he left an unprofessional message. Instead of calling back, I contacted Critter Control. The lady that answered the phone was responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. They set up an appointment immediately that fit my schedule (with a same-day option!). The technician was friendly, easy-going, and professional! The work was completed quickly and the results were immediate. We were given a folder at the completion of the project detailing the work and additional information. We couldn't be more pleased!

The technician, Drew, set the trap for several days and no squirrels were trapped. He then used other techniques to determine that while the hole had probably been chewed by a squirrel in the past, that I have no squirrel infestation at this time. He offered to fix the hole for an additional price but I decided to fix it myself for it was easy to reach and I am fairly handy. Drew gave me a number of helpful tips on how to prevent a future infestation by squirrels, including pointing out some small holes that had not yet been discovered by them but that would be eventually found if left unfixed. Drew was very courteous, helpful and professional. I think the fact that they found no squirrels when I was sure I had them proves their honesty. They get paid for the initial visit and then for each additional animal trapped, so they would have a motive for claiming to find several squirrels if they were dishonest. I especially appreciated Drew's helping me prevent future problems.
Description of Work: I had telephoned Critter Control describing what I thought was an infestation of my attic by squirrels. I had often heard squirrels running around, apparently in the attic. I also had a hole in the soffet that was apparently chewed by squirrels. Drew came to my house & I showed him the hole in the soffet where I believed the squirrel(s) were gaining entry (It was a relatively new hole that had clearly been chewed by a small animal).

The employee (female) who received our call was very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions. An appointment was set up to place traps and inspect the situation. Tyson set the traps and was very kind and patient answering the multitude of questions from my young daughters, who were concerned for the well-being of the raccoons. Tyson was very tactful and explained they were to be relocated to a 'big forest'. The traps successfully captured the three raccoons we knew to be on the property. Tyson checked the traps daily leaving progress reports if we were not there to talk to him. We determined the traps were no longer necessary and called to have the traps removed, which was done the same day. The cost was broken down as follows; $170 to set traps and have daily monitoring for 2 weeks, $75 per animal for disposal. We were lucky enough to have 3 raccoons. Hopefully we will not have to use their services again, but we were extremely pleased by the service provided. Thanks!

Description of Work: I contacted critter control because of an animal in my attic. Tom came out the same day to inspect the attic. While no animals were found, he placed a trap on the roof and checked it daily. I called Critter Control on a Friday to see about setting traps for moles in our yard. The woman on the phone was very helpful. She asked me several questions to determine if in fact moles were the problem. Based on my answers, she was pretty sure it sounded like moles and that they could have someone come out on Monday to verify and start setting traps. She also spent time explaining their pricing structure and the types of traps they would used. She addressed my safety questions too as I have small children and a dog. The animal control specialist came out on Monday, confirmed it was mole activity, and set 12 traps. Since that time, Tom has been back out twice per week. Several moles have been caught (there is an additional fee for each mole that is caught). Tom spends a good amount of time going over the yard to assess the damage and trying to move the traps to where we'll have the most success trapping them. We have a significant number of runs in our yard.
Description of Work: Set 12 mole traps in back yard. Fee includes 2 visits per week to check traps, remove any moles, and reset traps. There is an additional fee of $59 per mole caught. The $290 fee is an annual fee -- even once it looks like our problem is under control, if we see evidence of new activity within the same year, all we have to do is call and they'll come back out and set traps again. The only additional fee would be per mole caught.
