Best Service Heating & Cooling

Thank you to those Angie List members who took the time to submit reports on Best Service Heating & Cooling. You made my choice less stressful and I'm happy to report you were all dead-on... I emailed Best Service late Monday night. They called me at work the next morning, gave me a quote including a discount for being an Angies List member, and fit me into the schedule for the next day. The installers were on time (actually a little early) and only took an hour for the installation. They were courteous and friendly and did not rush to get out the door. They walked me through how to use it and even answered some questions on replacing my A/C unit in the future. (They took the old furnace with them.)

The quote was back to us within 24 hours. We evaluated all the quotes and selected them on a Friday. The very next Tuesday they came and installed the new AC and made the adjustments to the existing furnace. The men were on time, professional, and were considerate of us as we were home while they performed the work. I was very impressed. I am going to go on their maintenance program and have them also perform some work at my rental condo. The work was high quality.

I called Best Services first thing on Wed AM after noticing water leaking out of the bottom of my water heater. They made the initial visit that morning (at the time they said they would be there). I was given a prompt estimate and was treated professionally and politely. After agreeing to the work, they said their service technicians would be back at approx 1pm (they were) to install the new water heater. The technicians were also friendly and professional. Once the work was completed, they explained everything they did, the warranty and the features of the new water heater. Would definitely use them again!

They were very prompt in their response. They were good with finding out what the problem was and what it would require to replace the old until with what I would be satisfied with. They were pretty fast about getting the job done, it was completed in less than 10 days. They did a really nice job.

They previously serviced our air conditioner. The service was fine. They were prompt and courteous. They did what they promised. I have their yearly plan so they tune up the furnace and air conditioner annually. They are honest. The people we had before told us we needed a new air conditioner and we didn't so they are honest. The price is fine. I will continue to use them.

I called the company yesterday in the early afternoon, indicating the my furnace needed to checked out. I said that it wasn't running properly, but this was not an emergency. She said that there would be time today in the morning. I received a call around 10:00 AM, indicating that the technician was on his way. He arrived shortly thereafter, put on booties to cover his footwear on entering the house, and followed me to the furnace, performing the service as indicated above. He was very personable, explaining what he was doing and courteously answering any questions I had. He has been working with heating and cooling for 18 years and was very knowledgeable. He performed the repair and checked to see that the furnace was functioning properly, measuring both its electrical functioning and it heating performance. He provided me with a complete bill, indicating that there was a thirty day guarantee on the work. I have used this company and have always been very satisfied. They have provided timely, quality service at a reasonable price. I had worked with another company in the past, and Best Service was considerably cheaper than that company was. I also appreciate the fact that it seems to be a fairly small company. As a result, the same technician has worked on my furnace before, although he is not the only technician that has done work for us from Best. All my interactions with this company have been great.

Best Service has always done our furnace and air conditioning work and they are great. He gave us a bunch of advice and suggestions and he also helped us by redoing the duct work. It is more than worth the money, it is really great work and they are really nice people. Every person I have worked with has been wonderful. They are willing to give me added advice and answer any questions I may have. They are prompt, helpful, and very nice to work with!

Our furnace quit working on Saturday night. I called them on Sunday to see if someone could come out on Monday. I got their voice mail but someone called back within a few hours. They said that they could come and that they would call 30 minutes beforehand. Andy came out Monday morning, diagnosed the problem right away, had a replacement part with him and had it fixed within an hour. He was very nice and very professional.

Russ Christian responded to the message I left very quickly. I asked for a quote on 2 50 gallon water heaters to replace the 12 year old tanks that were installed when we built the house. He provided a quote quickly, reviewed details on the phone and scheduled the job. The night before our appointment I called Russ to say that I had made a mistake. Instead of 50 gallon heaters, the tanks I wanted to replace were 40 gallon units. He'd already ordered the 50 gallon units. He didn't hesitate to assure me that he'd change the order and adjust my price. On the day of the work, the 2 - man crew arrived on time. They were very courteous and respected our home by wearing shoe covers and placing floor covers down. They completed a neat, professional installation, removed the old heaters and cleaned up after themselves. They thanked us for awarding them our business and let us know they appreciated it. They prepared and presented our bill. No surprises! Even though I'd changed the orders, everything was communicated accurately, and my bill reflected the smaller tanks and the Angie's List discount. The heaters provided ample hot water for all the guests we had during the holiday season.

They told me it would take most of a day and it did. They were punctual (as usual). The two man team was very nice and respectful. Russ also came by a couple times. Russ is soooo patient! I asked a million questions over the phone and in person, before and after installation and he is always friendly and informative. This was a different system than the last so I needed more information. The only thing we don't love is the new thermostat. It does not have all the great features that the old system had, but other than that is easy to program and the furnace is quiet. It has done a fine job for us so far. I have used Best Service for many years and know I can count on Russ.

I will never stop working with them. I even recently used them for plumbing, he even used a piece of pipe I already had which saved me money. I trust them implicitly, they do a wonderful job. I have a service agreement with them for heating and a/c, because the plumbing problem was near my water heater unit their plumber did the work for me. On top of that, they discounted that service call since I have an agreement with them. They are very responsive and helpful. They have reasonable prices. They are open to your questions and suggestions, they are always willing to explain what they are doing and what the problem is.

My experience was not good. The tech was trying to up sell unnecessary items. After their visit my A/C was not longer working. The people in the office were great, the tech we had out was not great.

Best scheduled an appt and gave us a 4 hour window - which was fine for me, I wasn't going anywhere. He arrived promptly, and got right to work. It didn't take much time at all for him to find the problem, and he worked very hard to get it fixed for us. Apparently I'd been putting the filters in backwards - the opposite of our previous system. It caused a build-up of lint-like stuff behind the condenser coils ... not good! He peeled as much of it off as he could and then got his shop vac to get the rest. He was very neat - which we always appreciate. We'd also been having a terrible problem with noise from our water heater - we'd hear it on the 2nd floor and the water heater is in the basement. It was caused by the previous HVA/C person we'd had out - who "offered" to get rid of the problem for $90 by replacing a nail! I declined of course and replaced the nail myself! Anyway, what Best Services found was that the motor was sitting right on top of the water heater, causing the added noise. This was not a problem until we had the previous guy out - so I'm not sure what he did! Anyway,, Best Services kind of padded the motor - so that we wouldn't have to replace the motor or water heater. He told us that when we're ready to completely do away with the noise, we might as well replace the entire water heater because there's not much difference in price - which I know is true for a basic 80% efficiency system. The other company previously quoted us $560.00 to replace the motor. Ours is an 80 gal water heater - so it'll certainly be at least that. My husband and I both felt Best Services did a great job, and we'll certainly use them again. I'm sure their price was in line, or maybe better for what we got, but I'm just in one of those OMG! No more bills! phases. With the college bill almost due I'm sweating - so maybe a B score wasn't fair for $176, but then again maybe it was - I don't know. For the quality, honesty, and fast service I guess an A would be fair. We'll definately be calling Best Services again!

I came home on Thursday night, in the middle of a brutal heat wave, and noticed the house didn't feel as cool as it normally would. The air coming from the registers was barely cool. I turned the unit off and waited about 30 minutes. I turned it back on and nothing--the compressor didn't even run. I called Best Service late on Thursday, and received a call first thing in the morning the next day. The tech was out that morning. He showed me the capacitor he had taken out and the new one he was installing. He said he's seeing about 2 of these a day since the heat wave. Typically, they might go through a whole summer and only see one. Although no one knows for sure, it's suspected in order to prevent brown outs and black outs during this heat wave, the electric company is 'amping' down the voltage going to people's homes. This requires the capacitor to work extra hard to amp up the voltage to run the A/C unit, thus causing them to burn out. I've used Best Service Heating & Cooling for years. I don't even look at or consider another HVAC provider. When someone asks for and HVAC recommendation, I tell them about this company.

Great, he was punctual, courteous, and finished the work in a timely fashion.

I called between 8 and 9 a.m. and they were here that afternoon, working around my schedule. The serviceman was very professional and pleasant. He explained everything he did in detail, and answered all of my questions. I would definitely use this company again.

I have been using them for several years. They do excellent work for a reasonable price.

The same technician came back out on Monday and got things running, although a part is on order. I have a service contract with Best. They installed a new furnace in my home back in 2000 or 2001. I have relied on them since to keep my heating and cooling systems in good shape. The technicians are always very professional and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Best Service was putting in central air at my neighbor's house. I asked them to take a look at my unit since it was making excessive noise (the neighbors complained to me about it the first time I turned it on a few weeks ago). They diagnosed it for free since they were already working at my neighbor's house, and replaced a noisy contactor (with a used one they had in their truck) in my unit outside for a mere $75. They were very professional and even wrote up a receipt and gave me a 30 day guarantee on the part. I'm having them come out again next week because my unit seems to have a low charge (which I didn't suspect when they replaced my contactor last week, or I would have had them check that too).

Have not had any problems with them.

The tech was very nice as every tech from Best has been. They have done our heating and cooling checks for the past several years and I have been pleased every time.

The service man arrived on time, complete checking the furnace and cleaning out and checking the air conditioning system. He did put in a new filter . We purchases a 1 year plan for maintenance of the furnace and air conditioner. We have used this company for 5 years and are satisfied with their service.

They were on time and knew what they were doing. They fixed some things that were done incorrectly earlier. They brought everything up to code. They were great.

They were very thorough in identifying and correcting the problem. In spite of the fact that I had been told by another company that the furnace needed to be replaced, they were able to fix it.
