Mike and his team were great. They met with us to determine what we wanted to accomplish. He provided us with different options/material/pricing. When they started the job, his team was very professional and knowledgeable. They really know how to build a quality deck. They cleaned up all material, as if nothing had ever occured. They always let us know what was going to happen and reviewed each day their progress and what to expect in the next step. Project was completed within our requested time frame. Great product and great individuals to work with. You can't go wrong with a deck by Archadeck.

Rob handled the design process and quickly interpreted our requests into a beautiful and functional covered patio by using an amazing computerized program. We were highly impressed with how he was able to include everything we looked for in our patio -- and never did we feel like we were being rushed into a "cookie-cutter" project. Phil then handled construction supervision. Very responsive to all our questions and when not on site he was easily reached by cell phone and text. It was obvious he had an eye for quality and timelines as he worked with the various construction crews. Can't say enough about the patio work done by Paco and crew, and carpentry by Seth. These two individuals are highly skilled in their crafts, and we can truthfully say Archadeck has selected a couple of real artisans in Paco and Seth. They are both perfectionists, and highly attuned to customer satisfaction. Also worthy of note was the electrical work by Jim, and gutters and downspouts by Bryan. Again, these two are also tops in their craft, and very customer.minded. We couldn't be happier with the final result, and work is well-warranted. Certainly, we believe the quality and craftsmanship in this project was well worth the cost.

Both the hardscape and roof structure crews were superb! They were meticulous in their work and made sure that everything was done right. All the men were very polite and respectful and worked hard even though some of the work was done when it was around 90 degrees out. They cleaned up at the end of each day and stored everything neatly behind our home in a reasonable manor so that the back yard wasn't a mess. Both the salesman, Rob, and the project supervisor, Phil, were top notch in their knowledge of the project and various construction practices. They were also very polite and courteous. Rob didn't try to sell us anything we didn't want but was extremely helpful discussing with us all of the various options for the project. He clearly laid out the advantages and disadvantages of each option and let us decide without any arm-twisting. They also allowed us to make minor changes after the original contract was signed without any issues. The finished product itself was everything we had hoped for. We now have a beautiful paver patio and roof over it to enjoy for many years to come. We are very happy with it and the experience! This is an update on September 15, 2015. After 2 years now, I want to provide an update of our patio. The "soldier" or "sailor" course pavers (I don't remember what they're called) have not held up very well. Initially, there was a severe amount of separation between them and the adjoining pavers and settling. This was noticed within the first year after installation. A worker from Archadeck came out, removed all of the pavers and added sand underneath them and then reinstalled them. He also put the locking sand back in. It looked good at the time, but now there is still more settling occurring. Separation from the adjoining pavers seems to have stopped. In addition a capstone paver has totally detached from the retaining wall that was built.

Mike explained in detail the process that Archadeck uses, when to to expect the blueprint picture and the expectation of when they would start once the contract was signed. I had contacted others from Angie's list, who drew dinky diagrams on paper, or worse one didn't even come out to measure himself or see the property, but then gave me a blue print. Mike went over the pros and cons of different material, sizes and shapes for the patio, still letting us make the decision but providing his knowledge to help us make a decision. The Archadeck team came when they were expected, always being professional and in great spirits. Everyone, and I mean everyone, on their team was polite, helpful and patient with mine and my husband's questions. When we decided to add small patio for our grill, they added it on with not problem, within a couple of days. Even when we had a huge rain storm that caused an issue, Seth was back within a half hour fixing the leak. Mike was true on his word on fixing any issues immediately without hesitation! We now use our screened porch or patio almost daily and gives me a little bit of that Key West feeling here in Ohio that I so love. I have already recommended the team to friends and co workers, the overall experience was wonderful and I received a wonderful product at the end.
Description of Work: Mike, Phil, Seth and team did a terrific job on a 24' x 16' screened porch and 20' x 14' paver patio with a fire pit.

The woman who answered the phone wanted to pin me down as to exactly what I was looking for, whether to replace rotting boards or to completely tear down and rebuild my deck. When I told her I wanted to explore all options at this point, she passed on my project. Though it's good to keep to your business model (and I assume Archadeck is only interested in building decks), it's awfully short-sighted not to explore the potential for a job. Though she didn't ask, I have three decks, one of which is quite large. Whether I rebuild my deck now or in the future, Archadeck won't get the business since they couldn't spare the time to send someone to my house to look at my situation and talk to me about my options.

Thank you for your comments, I remember our conversation as well. To reiterate my conversation with Mrs. [member name removed], as a business owner our goal is to make the best decisions for our business as well as our construction crews, we must balance the projects we take, so we can do our best job for the clients and our crews. This particular project and potential client was, unfortunately, not a good fit for our business and we chose to pass on providing a quote. I apologize that Mrs. [member name removed]. took that to mean that we could not "spare the time" as that was not the case at all.

Our old deck was built by the previous homeowner and was not in good shape. Mike and his crew at Archadeck tore it out and designed and installed a new deck which we absolutely love. My whole experience with Archadeck was great from the start. Mike was communicative and very helpful when discussing with me what I wanted in my new deck. Since I'm not a deck builder or designer, I let Mike guide me through what he thought would be good for our budget and how we planned on using the deck. His design was well-done, and we are already enjoying the very usable space we have now. I liked that he was able to make a computer rendering of the deck so I could easily visualize what it looked like. The tear out of the old deck and installation of the new deck was done by Rich. Rich's attention to detail is amazing. I'm a stay at home mom with a new baby, so I spend a lot of time sitting in my family room feeding the baby, so I got to watch him work out the window quite a bit. I could tell he knew what he was doing and he did a fantastic job on the little details, like cutting the wood to fit against the siding perfectly. He was professional and cleaned up at the end of every day. We lived with the deck for two weeks before Mike came out for his final walk-through, and I didn't have anything to complain about, which is surprising because I am very picky about details. I think this is a testament to what a great job Rich does! Phil is Archadeck's production manager, but he also does their landscape design. He came up with a beautiful plan for around our deck and our backyard, and I hope to have his crew out to implement some of it next year. For now we just had them grade the yard and put down grass seed, which they did this past week and did a good job. In sum, I would not hesitate to recommend Archadeck to anyone looking to build a new deck!

We replaced an elevated cedar deck built with 2 x 12 CEDAR PLANKS that was 20 years past its expiration date! We consulted Angies List and selected three top rated companies. Our experiences during the estimate stage of the process were mixed. Our first estimate was from a young trade school grad armed with the tools and knowledge to provide us with a drawing and approximate cost on the spot. He was both professional and accommodating. The second contractor showed up at our home with a rule, a pencil, a yellow pad and an attitude. He basically told US what we wanted and was resistant to any ideas contrary to his comfort zone. We couldn?t get him out of our house fast enough. Our experience with Mike from Archadeck was different. It was professional from start to finish. He listened to our ideas and provided us with feedback. The Archadeck estimate included detailed architectural drafts of each stage of the deck construction complete with a 3-D computer rendering. The cost was somewhat higher, but Archideck?s portfolio and our overall impression with Mike and his presentation won us over. During the deck planning and estimate phase we had requested a slightly larger deck than Mike had based his estimate on, an oversight. After the contract was signed we discovered the discrepancy. Mike OK?d the additional square footage at cost. The resulting deck was exactly what we had envisioned, a deck with all horizontal decking and railcaps surfaces of Timberteck. All vertical stiles and rails and skirting are made of cedar. The under deck is pressure treated pine. If you choose Archadeck, I would recommend that you request Seth as your carpenter. He and his monster traveling work shop on wheels is skilled and efficient. Following completion of the deck we requested a few minor corrections which were fixed in a timely manner. We highly recommend Archadeck.

Archadeck built a screened-in porch off the back of our house. Michael was very helpful going through the process. He has a portfolio with an abundance of photos from previous jobs and the software program also helped us to visualize the final product. He is very thorough and it may seem like he is going through everything in painstaking detail but it is probably worth it. His crew was uniformly very polite and professional. The quality of their work was excellent. We chose an all cedar interior with pressure treated pine for the floor. Michael could have tried to sell us on a composite floor which would have looked nicer and cost 3-4x more but he said it wouldn't be a good choice. Everyone who has seen the porch has been uniformly very complimentary on the look and the quality of the work. The project took longer than expected and there were the occasional communication snafus, etc., but that is rather to be expected for a construction project. All in all, Archadeck did an excellent job and we would recommend them to others.

The service was pretty good overall. Michael and Phil keep us updated on when they could start on the project. Once the date is finalized, they showed up on time, worked hard every day, and completed the job within the time they said they would. The quality of their work was good as well! Michael came back a week after to do the final punch list and to go through the warranty details. Overall pretty good experience and will definitely recommend them for any patio work.

The work was completed while I was at work myself, however, each day I came home to more of the completed project, my concerns/questions throughout the project were addressed promptly and professionally. I have absolutely no complaints at all. I am very happy with the outcome of the project.
Description of Work: I had a sinking two tiered deck removed and replaced w/ a paver patio. Basic design but very well constructed. Rob was my salesman- excellent, honest and very easy to work with. There were two guys working on the paver and it was completed in about a weeks time (removal of old deck, haul away and replacement patio). I would highlyrecommend this company to anyone. Rob was professional and honest as he told me up front that they would not be the cheapest but the quality of the product would be well worth the money. Although I have not yet had to opportunity to use the patio as the snow is now falling, I am definitely looking very forward to Spring/Summer.

I cannot speak highly enough about Archadeck of Columbus and Rob Mitchell. It is very unusual to find any company that takes service, quality, and professionalism as seriouly as I do, but Archadeck is one of them. From beginning to end, everything was above board, honest negotiations, contract followed to the letter, and unparalleled communication. Of our 3 estimates, they were in the middle, which ended up being the best value for the money especially in light of the service, craftsmanship, and quality that followed. It did take about 3 months to schedule our project from the time we signed, but this was explained ahead of time so there were no surprises. Since we weren't in any particular hurry, it didn't matter except a 30% deposit is theirs while nothing is happening. However, they ended up starting 2-3 weeks earlier than expected and finished on time and within budget. The demolition of our old deck and foundation preparation was completed in 2 days and a 700 q. ft. patio with firepit and seating wall was completed in a week then a couple of days for placing polysand to the patio, filling beds, and a walkthrough. I could not point to a single problem of significance; and even if there were, the superior communication from beginning to end would have caught it early. The installation crew led by Paco was on-time every day, fast and efficient in their work, and unwavering in their attention to detail and quality. Plus, they were very nice, polite, and arrived and left with smiles and pleasant conversation for myself and family. Rob Mitchell who was the project designer and supervisor was the model of professionalism. His training and experience was evident in every phase of the project. Even after the completion, he encouraged us to call him any time for questions or advice (which I did on a Sunday morning once without concern or complaint). I recommend Archadeck without qualification or reservation for any of your deck, patio, hardscape, landscape needs!

Initially met Mike at the Home & Garden Show that takes place at the fairgrounds each year, here in Columbus. Excellent service, workmanship and overall awesome design of our new deck! Sat down with Mike in early spring and gave him a list of our wants. Mike came back a few weeks later with two versions of our choices, with added design flair which took the mundane and made it extraordinary. Mike then worked with us to fit our budget. In our case, it meant only eliminating the pergola and the privacy wall. Finally Mike set up a manageable payment schedule and said work should begin in August. It took approximately two weeks for Archadeck to build our new deck. The two brothers who built ours were both courteous and hardworking. After each day of labor, they would clean up the site and neatly store any equipment. At no times was their work a hinderance to our daily schedules and there were no major disagreements between us and the crew. We fully recommend Archadeck of West Columbus to anyone who is considering adding a deck, patio or other feature to their home. Mike and his crew were easy to get along with and no sales trickery was involved involved in the selling of Archadeck's services. We would use Archadeck again and again!
Description of Work: Design - Initial discussion with Mike and then second visit where Mike presented two plans, one smaller and one larger. Second visit also allowed us to make changes to proposal like removing certain add-ons to bring the price of project into our budget ballpark. Craft - Added bi-level deck to back of house made of treated pine flooring, black aluminum barristers and cedar railing. Extended stairs with larger footings and shallower steps were built to accommodate people and dogs with bad joints. Deck extends fourteen feet out from house and is thirty three feet (approx) wide.

Michael came out and provided a quote for us. We outlined very explicitly what we wanted, discussed it with him, and he wrote up a very good description of the various features in the quote. He set proper expectations in the quote and in our discussions on payment schedules, timing, quality of the work, and the specifics of the deliverable. When Seth arrived to do work on day one, we found a problem with some of the existing posts that were going to be re-used. Michael addressed the issues by recommending that we tear out all of the entire existing structure and rebuild from scratch. Finding the existing rotted posts could have easily turned into a very stressful situation since the extra work required a new price. After just a few hours, Michael came back to us with an add-on cost that only increased our overall price by less than 7%. It was clear to me and anyone who understood the increased labor/materials that he was charging us the bare minimum for the change (it could have easily been articulated by someone less trustworthy that this was a significant game changer that warranted significant extra costs). Seth was very respectful of our property, children, and the work area. His craftsmanship was excellent. One small issue presented itself in the way the lattice was hung. Michael had forgot a small detail that required the lattice be removed and new lattice put in place and recessed under the deck. When I called Michael, he instantly acknowledged that he forgot the detail, told me it would be taken care of, and the very next day Seth worked it was corrected to the exact way we wanted it. It was very nice to deal with someone who could acknowledge a mistake and make it right. After construction Michael came to inspect the work and found a few small items I had missed that should be knocked out. He told me what they were and had them addressed even though I didn't notice them. He then told me the price that was left to be paid to even up the bill, and it was to the penny the exact calculation I had. All in all, I could not be happier. My wife and I hire out a lot of work, and this quite simply was one of the best experiences we have ever had.
Description of Work: Archadeck removed a rotted deck and put a new deck in its place. The new deck was roughly 300 square feet in TimberTech Evolutions with cedar rails and lattice. It included a handicap accessible ramp.

They were receptive of our wishes for features in our deck and presented great options to work with, within our budget. Together, we came up with a plan that turned out beautifully. The only delays we had with construction were due to rain and bad weather, nothing that could have been controlled. Our project was still completed in a timely and professional manner, and we are quite happy with the end result.

After experiencing a severe erosion of a good portion of our back yard we determined that the only solution was to install a deck. Being fairly new to the area, we had no idea who to contact. We were in the process of getting estimates for landscape lighting and one of the companies we spoke with recommended Archadeck. We immediately contacted them not only for an estimate but also for recommendations on how best to handle the erosion. Michael Reeder from Archadeck came out to see us. On the first visit he spent a lot of time looking at the yard and asking us what we were looking for in a deck. He gave us lots of ideas while showing us examples of things we could do. Since we knew we wanted composite material he also had samples of the different colors from which we could choose. On the second visit he arrived with a computerized drawing of the deck as we imagined it would be using the actual colors we selected! He had taken pictures of the back of the house and yard on his first visit, so the drawing was really personalized for us. It was so cool! We couldn't wait for him to start. In addition to the deck, Michael suggested solutions to help with the erosion, and he handled that project as well. We opted to add low voltage lighting to the deck after they got started, but no problem for Michael -- he brought samples for us to see and then we made the changes. Of course, permits have to be obtained, and Michael and Carol handled all that paperwork as well as the inspections that go along with the project. Our biggest hurdle was appearing before the township board to get a zoning variance - something we were totally unfamiliar with, but Michael handled the paperwork and actually went with us to the hearing and helped us through that process! It couldn't have gone smoother. Michael's crew was there when he said they would be. Seth "ran" the job. He was very very professional and kept us informed along the way. The time frame was exactly as promised. The only glitch we ran into was realizing at the end that we didn't have an electrical outlet by the door for the lights. But, Michael to the rescue! He contacted an electrician for us and we were set. These guys were wonderful to work with. Everyone was very pleasant and professional. I would definitely recommend them!
Description of Work: We had quite a bit of erosion in the yard, so the first thing they had to do was grade that area (it was going to be under the deck) that was eroding, then installed a weed barrier and rip-rap to help stop the erosion. Their irrigation system crew handled re-routing our sprinkler lines. After that was done, Archadeck installed a beautiful composite deck using a picture frame concept where the deck flooring is bordered with a contrasting color --looks fabulous! They also installed low voltage lights on the posts.

Very professional. Worked with us on options and possible design layouts to meet our budget, but also presented ideas that we could consider. Not pushy on sales. Once work awarded, the deck construction kept to schedule. The paver patio took a little longer but still within reason. Good construction crew and clean-up - again very professional. Office was very responsive/prompt if we called with anything. Very good product. 2 summers later, we had a problem with some trimwork discoloring and, again, we have found Archadeck to be very responsive and caring to assist with the warranty and potential repair.

We received 4 estimates for our new deck with all prices being fairly consistent. Archadeck provided the most detail to us at the time of the estimate and gave us the confidence that the focus of this job would be on quality. All other companies gave us a simple design without options and Archadeck worked with us to find a design that suited our needs. Prior to the start of this project, we were kept up to date with the time line to begin work, which started within the estimate given to us and the work was completed in a timely manner--a total of 9 days. We received multlple phone calls during the course of this project to see if we had questions or concerns. Josh completed the work on our deck. The work space was kept clean, debris and tools removed or contained at the end of each day--there was a definite focus on making sure that home owners did not feel as though this project was taking over their yard. Josh was very professional, he took time to answer our questions and let us know the anticipated completion dates for each aspect of this project, permit inspections etc. We would definitely recommend Archadeck and would utilize their services in the future.
Description of Work: Removed an existing second story deck and replaced with a new pressure treated pine deck.

Overall it was a great experience. We received 3 estimates, that were all good, however Michael's was the most comprehensive design and by far the most professional presentation. The estimate we received was the middle of the 3 quotes. We ended up choosing Archadeck based on Michael and based on the quality of the product. Their building technique was very focused on high quality. The actual deck builder, Seth, was very professional and did excellent work. The final product looks great and the quality has been noticed by our neighbors. The did a great job of cleaning up the work site every day. I was also very pleased with the daily updates on progress that we would receive from the archadeck office. This provided us a clear understanding of the day to day expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend archadeck to anyone. Great work.

I would not recommend this firm. If you have any problems whatsoever, it will greatly extent the completion of your project and, based on my experience, you will make a lot of phone calls and send a lot of emails and hear a lot of apologies before the work gets completed. I have had a lot of work done in my homes over the years, and this was, by far, the worst and most frustrating experience I ever had. We hired them to tear down our old covered deck and to build us a new one. Overall, we had multiple issues with Mike Reeder and things went from bad to worse. Below is a composite list of our complaints:1. We initially talked to Mike in August, 2010. Upon meeting he implied he could start the project and be done by Oct 1st. After signing the contract, he indicated he could start the job in mid-September but could not finish by early October. We asked for an October 4th start date instead and were under the impression they would start then. It turned out that they had booked another job and pushed our job back to November without informing us. I should have suspected then that this precedent would be how things would go from there. 2. After work started in November, they tore off our old roof and found carpenter ants along the roof line. They did call me and I had the ants treated and work resumed within a day or so. All seemed well. 3. At some point, I met with their electrician, the owner of Bach Electric who went over a plan for wiring with me. Later, Bach would prove to be a source of aggravation through bad workmanship, bad wiring and bad follow up. Their electricians came out to do work and told me I had to have more outlets by code than the owner had suggested and also that I should wire my switched differently. I agreed to their approach. But then, they mis-wired a new switch, and damaged the interior wall of my house to the point a normal switch cover would not cover the hole. In addition, they told me they would call in for an electrical inspection but never did. It took several weeks of calls and hassle with Mike to get the hole fixed in my wall. I ultimately had someone else rewire the switch. Reeder told me he ultimately fired Bach but not until I had complained to him repeatedly. 4. In December, they were finally ready to do the new roof and had to cut into the stucco on my house. I had water damage and rotted wood behind the stucco so I had to file an insurance claim. Within a week or so, I had a separate contractor come out and tear out a section of stucco. The contractor suggested that Archadeck finish the roof and then they would re-stucco the open area. At this point, it took almost a week before Archadeck would return to my job to put on their roof. They cited that they had started another job and that they had to finish it before coming back to mine. 5. Due to the awful weather this winter, it took them awhile to put enough good days together to finish my job (finish in their minds). By mid-February(The 19th), they felt they were done with the work but I told Mike that there were multiple issues unresolved: They owed me some gates. It took about a week to get one that was attached. I had also asked for some free standing gates. I had asked Mike for ideas on this originally and asked him several times about it and he never came up with anything on this own. The deck was also supposed to have a gutter and I had to ask about that a few times before one was installed. 6. On March 4, 2011, I met with Mike to go a punch list of items that needed to be done. On March 13th, I reminded him that things still needed to be done. On March 28th, I emailed Mike about a set of free standing gates I wanted. They still had not come back to me with an idea for an open area in which I need some gates. 7. My problems only were really starting. On April 4th, I emailed Mike that the roof leaked along the wall where it attached to the stucco. Mike questioned whether the leak was around the new stucco that had been applied. I told him no, that it was around the area that was not changed. He sent his carpenter out to look at it and the carpenter felt their (Archadeck’s work) was fine. I told him I didn’t think the side with the new stucco was the problem and I felt they should look into more. Mike seemed to blame the insurance contractors and basically ignored me. Meanwhile, with all the rain we were having in April, lots of water was coming down the side of my house. I had the insurance contractors come back out and test the roof and they discovered gaps in Archadeck’s flashing where water was coming in. On April 14th, I got into an argument with Mike on the phone about ignoring me. He finally came out with his carpenter on April 16th to caulk some of the gaps. 8. From there, the rood still failed inspection with the city because of poor caulking and because the way Archadeck left the stucco. Mike claimed he’d get someone out to fix the problem but after the guy he told me would come out to fix the stucco didn’t show up, I told him I was done with their company. He did offer to try again to get a guy to come out who was supposedly going to charge him $500 for the work. I told him I preferred to hire the stucco contractor that did the repair work to do the job and that I would like him to cover $500 toward the cost. That email went to him on July 7. I have never heard back from him.
