Ahlum & Arbor Tree Preservation

They are a very honest company. They told me doing this in the spring would not help. They had reasonable pricing.

They come and fertilize our trees. We have been having them come routinely. They are professional. They are good at what they do. They are honest about things. We have had some trees that have some serious problems. They know everything they need to know about trees and how to take care of them and what they need. They are the best in Columbus. We have an oak tree that we are very fond of and we didn’t want to lose that and they have really revived it for us. They told us what was wrong about the trees that were struggling and what they would have to do and we decided that it wasn’t worth trying to hang on to those. Some of them we have kept and they continue to take care. We would highly recommend them. We would rate them highly and would use them again in the future.

We have to have this done every year to support the tree, and we have a lot of trees. We had them come out about six years ago to evaluate the trees. If we are to keep these trees they need treatment with iron. Each year they come out and inject it. I don't know if they go into the trunk or not. We are going to lose two of them and six of them have to have really expensive treatment. There is only an 80% chance that we can save those. I had two different companies come out so far. They both told me the same thing. I think they really know what they're doing.

The job went overall. They were on time to do the work and they repaired a splitting tree. It has hold up well, so I am very happy.

The interaction was very good. They were very friendly and the workmanship was excellent. The pricing was high, higher than some of the other arborists around, but I was willing to pay the price. It was probably worth the price. The clean up was unbelievably neat.

I called Ahlum and Arbor and they took our information and a week later the Arborist called and set up an appointment. He inspected the tree and specifically identified a disease that was killing the tree. We used that information with the nursery and they respect the work Ahlum does and are replacing our tree without coming to look for themselves. The Arborist gave us ideas about what kind of tree might fit in that area better. We were very pleased with the service and would recommend them to anyone.

They did an excellent job of pruning two trees (magnolia and a red maple). They were good but they were expensive. They also provided advice on some large trees I might plant. They seem to specialize in large trees.

I was recommended this company by Ron Wilson and figured, he's a guy who knows what he talks about. My trees were pruned today and look ok, I'm sure they will take time to fill out again. I do not like to complain; however, this company has the WORST customer service I think I've ever experienced. First, trying to get someone to explain the process (ie: someone will call me back to make an appt. for an estimate, then someone will call when they are able to give an estimate) took 3 phone calls before someone knew what they were talking about...the only explanation was 'it's our busy season"and I was even hung up on once. Then, when somebody did come to give the estimate (I believe it was the owner), he was very non-chalant about listening to what I wanted done and said no, this is what you need done (I assume it's right?) and instantly wrote a quote and told me to sign without explaining that signing meant I agreed to the work (good thing I read everything before I sign). Then, he stated it woudl be approximately 5 weeks, but that I would get a call when they could come out to trim my trees. I stated that would be nice since I would like to watch them. Well, today, I came home from work and let my dog out and to my surprise, there are many branches missing from my trees without so much as a note stating they were here or a phone call. I am very unhappy with the customer service and arrogance of this company - and when considering the cost , the pruning better be right. I'm trying to tell myself they must be good so they can be arrogant, but would never use them again. Sorry to complain, I'm just flabbergasted.

The project went very well and the pruned trees looked so much better afterwards.

The trees are doing pretty well and every now and again when they come, I have questions and they answer them with excellent professionalism.

They have always performed exactly what they promised and have done it well.

I'm a new homeowner and only recently learned that the tree in my front yard is an ash. I was interested in learning more about the condition of the tree and the emerald ash borer threat and really wanted to be present when they came out for the treatment. When I decided to go with Ahlum & Arbor, they couldn't confirm the date of the treatment in advance, but the person I spoke to on the phone said they could call me the day before they were going to come out so I could arrange to be there. No-one ever called me--I just came home one day and the invoice was left behind. And then I had to call twice before the arborist called me back to actually share his assessment of my tree. In the end, I'm completely satisfied with the treatment and will use Ahlum & Arbor again (probably next year for pruning), but think they could do a better job with appointments and call backs and that sort of thing.

Although we waited several weeks to get an appointment time (reason for B rating on punctuality) our representative arrived very much on time on the date scheduled. He carefully assessed our tree and indicated that the problem we identified was not "disease" and did not need treatment. Recommended pruning at some future point and estimated $160 to prune the tree. We were very confident in the diagnoses and pleased with the thoroughness of his report about our tree.

He was very prompt, professional, and seemed like a really smart guy. However, he was more expensive than what I am able to spend at this time. I really appreciated that he was looking to save the tree instead of just wanting to cut it down. If I can get the money available, I will definitely use him.

We have a fair amount invested in our landscaping. Over the years, we've had a number of trees come under attack of pests and disease. All are doing very well now. We've known Dave, Lana and Chris for 15 years, from kid's soccer (Dave coached) to community affairs. They are a class act from start to finish. I wish I kept my vehicles as clean and as well maintained as they do! Clean vehicles aren't what we pay them for, but it's an indicator of their attention to detail. I recommend them to everyone who asks about tree and shrub service.

Everything was done as described in the estimate. The came out and gave an estimate, called ahead to arrange the day.

The Japanese maple originally had a weeping shape, but after two years wasn't looking like it any more. Dave came and took a look and said that it wasn't really meant to have a weeping shape. He trimmed it to a great shape for the space.

My husband is very pleased with their work and whenever he needs someone he calls them. They aren’t the cheapest but they do very good work; they deserve what they charge. They are very professional. They know how to take care of trees and they have been taking care of ours for 25 years.

Everything goes well. They're expensive but they do very good work. We continue to use them because they're very professional and they continue to help us with flourishing our trees. They come and do an on-site inspection 4-5 times a year. They then treat as needed.

The Norway Spruces are now full of vim and vigor while before they looked very sad. These trees are 35 years old and did not look good. The fertilization really worked. They also did an iron treatment on my Pin Oak and the yellow leaves are no longer there. That treatment was $190.00.
