He was great: he responded quickly and was able to fix the part. It was the laundry load sensor. Unfortunately for me, I didn't know that our home warranty would have covered it. So I could not get reimbursed for what we paid, because we were supposed to call our home warranty first, which would then send out a work order to one of their companies. The home warranty, of course, favors larger companies at the expense of someone like Mr. Wolfe's. He was very competent and agile enough to manage the tricky stairs to our basement. So if I didn't have a home warranty, I would definitely go with him. Without a doubt!

I called Jeff and described what was going with our refrigerator - the fridge was not cooling and the freezer on the bottom was working. He asked for the model number and said he would be over the same evening. He showed up and explained everything that was going on with our refrigerator. He came prepared with the part - jazz control board to fix our fridge which did not take him long. In all my years this was the very, very best customer service that I have ever received. We will definitely refer him to all of our family and friends.
Description of Work: Installed jazz control board and defrosted evaporator coil on our whirlpool refrigerator.

I called on a Friday and made an appointment for the next day. He arrived on time, checked everything out. Although he identified the underlying problem because the oven is an older model, he continued to look for certain things. I may still need a part, but because of his persistence at just working with the involved parts, removing some rust, the stove now works. I am not planning to remain in this house, and I don't bake often, so I was pleased that he persisted and found the least costly solution to make it work. Update 1/6/2016-Grades changed from As to Fs On 1/4/2016, "Scotty" called. I missed his first call, but was able to reach him and he came to the house. He brought a box/part with him into the house, which was interesting since we had not discussed the make/model of the stove. He took things apart that Jeff did not take apart. More than once, he said that he was unfamiliar with this type of stove, it isn't brand new, but it isn't 50 years old either, it's a basic 4 burner gas stove with the broiler at the bottom and a spark ignition. One can google the type, and almost get a diagnosis over the internet. He made a phone call, then asked 'how much money I wanted to put into it." He said the part, which he identified as an igniter, that was unlike the one he'd brought into the house without a diagnosis, was $250+. I told him that Jeff had identified the same problem, but did so without taking the stove apart, and instead had worked through the broiler area, and, that the igniter was $139 and tax slightly a year earlier. I asked him how the same part could have doubled in price in less than a year. He mumbled something vague and asked to see the invoice, which I showed him. Then he phoned Jeff, whom he identified as the owner. Jeff attempted to coach him through the fact that the problem location was underneath, and consisted of some type of wires. He repeated that he didn't know/understand how to fix it. When I first showed him the invoice, he said that it was the cost of an igniter, then when he got off of the phone, he contradicted himself and said that it wasn't an igniter, but failed to say what it was, because I guess Jeff had to tell him later. Due to my 5 appt., we agreed that he would consult with Jeff. He took a picture of the lower part, and said that he would return on 1/5/2016 between 4 and 6. At 6:10, having not received a call, I called the main number. A woman answered, and I told her told her that Scotty had said he would return between 4-6 and that I hadn't been called. I asked her what had happened. Her response, "I dunno." Then she said he was going to pick up parts. I told her that was not where we left it because he seemed perplexed as to how to fix it at all, let alone which parts were necessary, and that he was going to discuss it with Jeff. She said she didn't know whether he talked to Jeff, didn't know whether he planned to return, in essence-she didn't know anything. This was not an answering service, the number is the same number where I reached Jeff on Sunday evening, and appears to be a land line, probably at their home. Last night I called another company. He returned the call at 7:30 this morning. Unlike Jeff or Scotty, he asked for the model number and said that he would look up the model to identify potential issues and call back within the hour. He called back 30 minutes later, and although many of the parts are no longer available, based on what I described to him, he identified a part that would have to be special ordered. It costs $135, basically the same as Jeff first identified a year ago, not double, as Scotty misidentified on Monday. He is going to make a service call to examine the stove to determine if this is the problem, and if it is, order the part. If not, it probably isn't fixable. Last night I discovered that Scotty took my invoice with the original quote from Jeff. On what basis he believed that he should keep something that did not belong to him-I don't know. The fact of the matter is, that I will never call them again, so he needn't worry about me having 'evidence' that he had inflated the true price of the part by 100%. It would have been helpful if Jeff, if he is the owner, had sent someone knowledgeable about different types of stove technology. Again, I am no expert, but I found the different technologies in an internet search. Scotty incorrectly diagnosed the problem without first seeing it, and then again, once he'd seen it. Had I known that the service technician would have to receive on the job coaching by telephone, I could have called someone else to begin with. Furthermore, he put the parts back together incorrectly and left dirt and debris on the floor. Perhaps they get paid by the job, such that they have no incentive to attempt to repair something that will take longer than the "20 minutes" Scotty estimated over the phone, and prior to ever seeing my stove. Nevertheless, it seems to me that if this is Jeff's business, or frankly whomever owns the business, they would be concerned at the fact that most of their recent grades are Fs. I almost didn't call them because of that, but based on my first experience, I called them again. Now I understand why they continue to receive Fs. They may be nice, but nice does not matter if they lack the competence to complete the job professionally. "Nice" really doesn't matter when they don't bother to phone during the designated window, call to say they can no longer come, or have someone answering the phone who can say something other than "I dunno." The only good thing about this experience is that he didn't charge me for the service call--probably because he knew he had no intention of returning. I read another review that said that Jeff has been ill. If so, perhaps he should sell the business, because his 'subs' are damaging his reputation, and once it's gone, he can't get it back.
Description of Work: 10/2014 He diagnosed why, even though it had a visible pilot light, and the burners worked, my oven wasn't heating. Jeff fixed it, and I gave "A's" for this service. 1/2016 He misdiagnosed the issue because he didn't understand how to fix the stove. He called someone on the phone to get 'walk through' coaching, then said he'd return the next day between 4 and 6. He didn't return. Based on their incompetence and lack of professionalism, I gave F's is this update.

I was really impressed because it was an old refrigerator. I thought I will have to get a new one and he said it was still good. He was just the greatest. He was so upbeat. With authority, I have faith in what he told me. He works fine. Some people come in, they try to sell you something else and do something else. Not that he would have gain if he can sell; he just wanted to make sure that this was still very workable and that maybe I wouldn't get a new one. I probably got them from Angie's List and the reviews. The price was fair. I would use him again and I even told my neighbours about him.

I bought an ice maker online to replace a defective unit in my 3 year old LG French door refrigerator. I was able to remove the old one, and put the new one together as required. However, when I tried to install it, one of the screws wouldn't seat properly so the installation could not be completed. I called Jeff at Affordable Appliance Service and he said that he could fit me in but it would be late in the day. He called in the late afternoon and said that he was on his way. When he arrived only a few minutes later, he attempted to install the new ice maker exactly as I had tried to do. He quickly realized that the original screw was too short to seat properly. Due to the age of the refrigerator (I believe) something had shrunk enough to keep the screw from starting properly. Jeff had another screw that would fit and was able to complete the job quickly. If I had more experience I'm sure I could have completed this myself. I was totally afraid to damage the refrigerator and that's why I called Jeff. He was very professional. The amount he charged for the simple job wasn't cheap, but it certainly was reasonable. If (when) I have another appliance that needs professional service I won't hesitate to call Affordable Appliance Service. I would be comfortable recommending this company to my friends and relatives.

I spoke to Jeff and within an hour or so he was able to come out and diagnosis my problem. The main board had shortened and ha to be replaced. He had an extra one in his van. It did not take him that long to fix it. He was very nice courtesy and professional. I really appreciate the quick response and fix because I had just went to the grocery store on the prior Sunday. Overall great job and reasonable price for short notice.

We scheduled the service for noon-3pm. At 2pm, he called to report he couldn't make it until around 5pm due to card trouble. Around or after, he called again advising he would be here soon. Around 7pm he showed up. Jeff was apologetic for his lateness. He checked out the Washer thoroughly, taking time to recreate the problem and read through the service manual to understand what the F51 error code indicated. My own research before the service call led me to believe it could be a significant problem that could be a costly repair - but of course, I was hoping for better news... After reading the literature and observing the washer performance and sounds, Jeff was skeptical that the problem was what the manual was pointing too. Before getting into the repair, he wanted time to consult his colleagues about the F51 errors and offered to come back the next day. He assured me I would not be charged a separate service call. Jeff returned the next day, as scheduled, and repaired the washer by tightening a loose flywheel. The whole repair was $51 and the washer is working fine. Starting off with the late arrival didn't give a great first impression - but I was very happy with the actual repair service. While Jeff didn't immediately know the right repair solution - I appreciated his decision to consult others instead of trying to solve it by replacing expensive parts that may not have been the problem. I believe his decision to research the problem saved me a lot in unnecessary replacement parts and with a mere $51 charge, I'm a happy customer. I will definitely call them next time I need appliance service and will recommend them to friends.

It went very well, he fixed the problem, he knew exactly what the problem was, he put my mind at ease immediately, the price was far less than I ever thought it would be. I was in fear I had to replace my side by side, he put me at ease with that too. I would recommend him to all of my clients as well.
Description of Work: On Saturday, I noticed my freezer on my side by side fridge was frosting up. I was entertaining on Sunday and called Jeff at Affordable Appliance Repair to get some advice. He walked me through what to do in order to avoid a weekend fee visit and to get me through the weekend, though he offered to come sooner. He came on Monday, knew immediately what was wrong and since my freezer was not completely defrosted, he set it up to do so, to save me extra cost if he had to defrost it and offered to come back today to finish the repair.

The final fix was good but kind of wacky getting there. Jeff came out initially very quickly and said the problem was the drain pump so replaced that and the motor assembly. Prices seemed a tad high but needed it done and didn't know problem to call around places. The initial time it worked but then stopped draining again. I called him back and it took three days for him to come back again. Had a couple of times set up and there was always some problem. Was starting to get very frustrated but he finally showed up with another younger guy. Checked a few things out and thought it may be a faulty pump but cleaned it out and something fell but he said that wasn't anything. Magically it worked so wonder if there was a part stuck in there that wasn't supposed to be. Either way, it has been working fine. Jeff is a very nice guy and seems to be fair as long as you know you may have to wait for a repair.

My ice maker was not producing ice, so I called Affordable Appliance Service. I got them from a recommendation from my daughter in law who said they were great. They came out the next day and worked on my ice maker, until they found what was wrong and then fixed the problem. They were professional and the price was very reasonable. I am so happy to have finally found someone I can count on and trust for Appliances. Many thanks to Jeff for taking care of things!!

I called for service on my dishwasher on 10/23/13. Was told he didn't know if he could get out the same day and would let me know. That was at 10:30 am. By 2:30 I had not heard back so I called and left a message. Nobody returned my call so after I called two more times I finally got someone. He said he would not be able to make it that day so we scheduled for the following day between 1-4. At 11:30 there was a message on my phone. I returned his call only to be told he had to go out of town and his repair man had some other problem and he could not keep the appointment. He did not even apologize. I told him to forget it and call someone else.

II called yesterday and scheduled a appt to have my gas stove checked out due to it making a noise and since it was my first time with a gas stove I just wanted to make sure everything was fine. The gentleman schedule the appt for the very next day and was suppose to come out between 12-2. Just like everyone else I have a busy schedule and was able to make it work for the time and date that was available. I sat around waiting for the tech to come out and he never showed. I called at 3:10 to see if anyone was coming out and the gentleman said that oh he had something major come up this morning and so he was pretty busy with other appts so he wouldn't be able to it out til later on today or even tomorrow. I have busy schedule and can not do either one of those that is why I made arrangement to have the appt I was given. So I will be looking for another appliance company. I understand things come up that are not expected but had he just given me a call and told me I wouldn't be that mad and would be will to work with him. But that is time I could have been using doing something I really needed to do rather than sitting around waiting for someone who wasn't going to show.

Worked his way through the repair, showed me what all he was doing and fixed the problem. Gave me lots of good information about the workings of the appliance as well. Excellent job! One thing. Do call him on the day of the service just to make sure that he is on track with respect to his appointments. He is short-staffed so appointments can be missed. One of Jeff's employees called in sick, so Jeff had to come himself. It was good that I called just as his time window started, to be able to adjust the time as needed. In the end it was no big deal; in fact, I feel I lucked out because I got the best guy in his small business - Jeff himself. :-)
