A Hometown Appliance Service

I was a little upset in the beginning that they couldn't tell me what was wrong in the beginning. They were very nice about it though. I was willing to pay them for the service call but they didn't take my money because I wasn't satisfied. I later decided to call them back and use their services. I felt good that they didn't just take my money. He ended up staying here for two hours and finally told me that the repairs that I needed done wouldn't be worth it. He advised me to just buy a new one. I really appreciated that. He just charged me for the service call which is nothing for the amount of time he spent with me.

This was the second time we used him. Before he comes out, he gives me a lot of advice so I can decide what I wanted to do. He gave me some information and what he though the price would be. It ended up being a simple repair. He is very friendly, and I like using him.

Joe came threw again. Our dryer stopped turning. The belt had obviously died. It was 6:30 PM and I called expecting to leave a voicemail. Much to my surprise someone answered and said Joe was nearby and could stop after that call. About an hour later Joe had been and gone and the dryer was working again!

They replaced the bearings on the dryer and now it runs like new again with no squeaks at all.

The service was timely, professional, and competent in the repair of our gas clothes dryer. Joe and his trainee (Steve) promptly identified the need for a valve coil replacement, after which the dryer now heats appropriately. They were knowledgeable and cordial.

They were timely, extremely efficient and knowledgeable.

I placed a call to see if they could come to my house to identify the problem and see if it was worth fixing or a replacement was needed. Joe came out the next day and identified it was the thermostat or timer was not working properly. He believed it was the thermostat and didn't have the part, but made a call and said he would pick up the part and be back later in the day. He returned in the evening and quickly replaced the part as promised. He also said to call if we ran into problems. The fridge ended up kicking off before it was cold so I called and he answered at 8:30 pm. He said the timer would also need to be replaced and asked if he could return first thing in the morning to correct the problem. We didn't have food in the broken fridge so this wasn't a problem. He came out at 8:30am the next morning to replace the Timer and the Fridge has worked like normal since. He was a very nice guy and I was impressed that he answered his phone everytime I called and made sure we had our problem fixed in a timely matter. I would use his services again when needed.

From the initial phone call, speaking with Holly in the office to the end of both repairs, they handled everything professionally. I would definitely use them in the future and recommend them to others.

He was really good. He was personable and I had a great time just talking with him. He is overall a great person.

I used this company 3 years ago---January, 2008---for a problem with my refrigerator at home. Joe was able to toggle a switch or something like that and that fixed my problem at home. I just paid a very reasonable service fee at that time. I was so impressed with them I knew if I ever needed any large applicance repair, again, they would be the First company I called! This time I had a problem with my refrigerator at my office. I called June 9 and Joe came out June 10---again FAST service! He determined I needed a new part--Bummer since the refrigerator was only 8 years old. Joe ordered the part and, true to his word, he had the part today (Monday) and he came out and installed it. Holly came to help him. In no time they had the part installed. Holly even remembered I sent them a gift card to a restaurant 3 years ago because I was so impressed with their service! I'm just as impressed this time! I also asked about my refrigerator at home (which is now 12 years old) possibly having a cooling problem. Joe gave me advice and how to watch it to see if I need to have a repair done or not. Great Company!!!!

I called to have my refrigerator repaired after noticing that it was warm, although the freezer was working accurately. He returned my call promptly and was out later that day to fix it. On the way over he picked up the suspected broken part (the computer board) and did a thorough check of the appliance. He also gave me clear instructions on how the refrigerator would assimilate to the new board and how I could best assist that.

Our six-year-old washer was spinning too slowly to effectively wring out the clothes. The gentleman from A Hometown Appliance came the day after I called. He took the washer apart and invited me to watch. He showed me how the clutch was worn down in the transmission assembly. He replaced the whole unit with a new one. He explained everything thoroughly. The experience was positive, and my washer works well now. I gave him a B on price just because it seemed like quite a bit of money but I have nothing to compare it with -- quite possible anyone would have charged us as much or more. I just don't know, hence the middle-of-the-road grade.

This company is very prompt and professional. We had no heat in our front-load, electric dryer, and originally thought the heating element had burned out. The owner of this company came out and did a very thorough testing of the electronics of my dryer. He found the exact connection on the circuit board which had caused the problem, quickly found a replacement for it at a bargain price and got it repaired. These are good people and I would recommend them to anyone. Very honest, friendly and reliable.

Called company and spoke to Joe initially. He was very helpful over the phone, gave a clear idea of what to expect cost-wise, depending on which parts may be needed. This was a big difference from others I had called before them. I had purchased the ice maker myself at a place that is normally inexpensive, but Joe's price was actually $35 cheaper, so I returned mine. We scheduled appt for very next day. Joe arrived right on time. He assessed the situation and found a few additional parts were needed because the old ice maker wasn't there, and some parts are re-used. He quickly ordered the necessary parts while there, and made arrangements to be back in two days. He showed and completed the job as planned. This was for a real estate client, and the homeowner was very happy! Great experience. Will definitely call again.

Joe and his son were punctual. They disassembled the washer and found where the leak was coming from. It turned out that a failed part was causing both problems. Unfortunately, the part that failed was not a common one, so they had to leave to get one and come back to install it. They returned in a short time, installed the new part, repaired the leak, and reassembled the washer. Joe gave me some tips about how to clean the washer and remove some of the gunk that built up in it. He was also very good with our dog. Overall, a pleasant experience. We were happy with the service and felt the price was acceptable for the work they performed.

We would definitely recommend this company and plan to use their services again

He seemed to know what he was doing. Extremely knowledgeable. He worked for Maytag in the past. He was here two days and his total bill was only $96.04. That was great. And he even sent a hand written thank you note and Christmas card.

Fantastic service. One of the best experiences with contractors in a long time. He spent time explaining why we had the problem and how we was going to make the repair. Very friendly, knows his stuff, completed the work in a timely matter and at a fair price. Highly recommend!

I have used Joe before and think he is great. H replaced the rubber rim and I also had a small tube that was clogged. He cleaned it all up. He is such an honest man and very technically gifted. I couldn't recommend him any higher.

I was very impressed w/Joe. He basically said (in a nice way) that the Samsung refrigerator was known to be garbage and that he could charge me $600 to fix it, but the manufacturer's recommended "fix" wouldn't last, nor have other fixes he and others have tried. The refrigerator was simply designed poorly. He said the best thing was to just get a new one. He could've tried to sell a solution that would've broken in a few months, or done a fix that wouldn't have lasted long, but instead just was paid a trip charge. He even said that we could call him to get a recommendation on a new fridge that he knows to be good quality and fixable if something goes bad (unlike this poorly-designed Samsung). This guy is really good.

I had a complex problem with the repair of my machine. Joe even called a fellow repairman to run the problem by him. In the end, the washer was repaired.

Every repair technician in town was out of town today for a manufacturer's repair seminar. Joe was, also, but still he was willing to come out late in the day to look at our refrigerator, which was beyond our expectations. He had the part and was able to complete the repair without having to make an additional trip. We have used him before for other appliance repairs and will do so again in the future.

One thing that impressed me was that when Joe returned today to replace the timer, he mentioned that he had called the manufacturer and talked about the job with someone there. He had no lack of confidence in his own diagnosis - but he spent extra time to check it over with another expert. He is also a most pleasant fellow to deal with - as is Steve, who did less talking.

The refrigerator quit running and I wasn't sure if I should try have it repaired or if I should simply purchase a new one. I called Hometown Applicance and was told they would check out the problem for a service call of $45 and, if I decided to repair the refrigerator, the $45 would apply to the cost. They were able to schedule an appointment for the next morning. Steve arrived as scheduled and quickly diagnosed the problem. Unfortunately, he needed to get a part. We agreed that he would come back the next morning and make the repair. He went on his way and I went to work. When I returned home late that evening, I was surprised to find a message from Steve offering to return that evening to install the part so I would not have to take time off from work the next morning. By going this extra step, he saved me a great deal of inconvenience--and the refrigerator is running better than ever.
