A Hometown Appliance Service

My experience was positive. A Hometown Appliance Service called ahead. They were professional and punctual. During their visit they went out of their way to be kind and helpful.

Great. Came out next day diagnosed and repaired heating element on dryer.

"Joe" was able to come out same-day to give me a quote. As we walked from the front door to my machine I explained the error message. When he got to the machine, he put one hand inside the front loading tub, lifted it slightly and said, "Well, I know exactly what it is and the repair is relatively cost prohibitive. It will be $530. Your (something--or-other) is shot. Happens a lot on these machines. A lot of people just get new ones..." I shared that I thought that a new one might be closer to $900 or so, so even though the price was high, I was still probably saving some money. "Oh. Well, there's also the chance that we could open it up and find out that your (something-else-or-other) is bad, so we'd have to charge you for that. But... if you'd rather not do that we can just charge you $90 for opening it up and cancel at that point." I agreed, not happy with how much I was going to need to pay, but pleased that it would be taken care of relatively quickly (two days later). Two days later the appointment was cancelled do to a health issue for Joe. He was very apologetic (he was talking to me while the "squad was on their way"!) He gave me a number for a different shop and I wished him the best of luck. That's NOT the reason for my scores. The service that I DID end up using did a thorough check of my machine and realized that it was something COMPLETELY different that had been suggested, and that what I was told needed to be replaced was actually in very good condition. The real culprit was the motor that powers whatever removes the water from the machine, which ended up being a $280 charge (half as much). I am not claiming that I was lied to in any way. Joe used the information that was given him and a quick check of my machine to make a decision. Had he actually taken the time that my other service did, he would have been able to better/more accurately found the problem. I don't know if he would have completed the repair he THOUGHT was the issue and then found out he was incorrect, but either way, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I will say that the service technician that I did use said very nice things about Joe, and he (Joe) was very polite to me in all conversations. I just wish he had been a little more thorough.

excellent. He listened to the noise and diagnosed the problem, quoted a time and cost (both of which were "right on") and proceeded to fix it.

Excellent same day service. Joe and Holly arrived on time and went right to work. Joe found another bad part inside (more then the one belt suspected) and suggested a pulley replacement. It was my call. They were very courteous and efficient in their work. All in all good people, the kind you can trust to do a fair days work for a fair pay. I called him at noon and he was at my door at 6:00 PM. Took about 1 hour to complete. I would gladly recommend them to others. Even gave us a senior discount without my asking. That's service.

He came to fix it, but we were still having problems and he came back and fixed it because of a faulty part. It still had some issues because of faulty parts, so he came back and fixed it and didn't even charge me for the part. The price was reasonable and was always prompt. He fixed it right. I would use him again.

Joe was great. He clearly laid out the options to repair or fix and was very honest about the choices and longer-term implications. I could tell he was a very honest person with my interests at heart.

I thought the price was high. For the service and the outcome of the service, I'd give them an A but for the cost, I'd give them probably a C. I would probably shop also to see if I could find a better one.

I called to see how soon we could get the refrigerator repaired and was told he'd be out the following Tuesday. It wasn't an emergency, and no one is in the office on the week-end, so we scheduled it. We used a chair to keep the door securely closed. Joe came in to check the refrigerator and told me what the problem was and that he needed to order a part. When the part was in he called to let me know he'd return on November 10 and showed up on time to make the repair. We were very pleased with the service. Joe did a great job. We'd recommend A Hometown Appliance Service to anyone. Thank you Joe!!

Purchased a Big Deal and it was worth it. It saved us from having to call one of the big company repair services.

It went very good,Everyone is professional and very friendly ,very fast service ,I even had some light bulbs on the ceiling that had not been replaced for a long time because I am unable to climb on ladders! Mike asked me if I would like him to put them in while he was there and he did it with out me asking him to,would not hesitate to call this company again!

.My neighbor needed a washing machine repair service to fix his machine. He asked to do laundry at my house and wanted to know who I would recommend. I looked on Angie's List and came up with this provider. He called him on Monday morning and the person came right out. After he left for a part, my neighbor had to go back to work. The vendor called him back a half hour later and had found the part. As he was at work, he called us to see if we could go over when he came back. My wife did. The repairman came and finished the job. He even had my wife come and see the machine operating before he left. Good service and quick response were the main items.

I called in the morning and within two hours, Mike called back and was on his way to us. He was polite, professional and extremely thorough - even cleaned up behind the fridge for me before putting it back in place! We would absolutely call these folks again for any appliance repair needs.

I chose a Hometown Appliance Service because it is near me and the reviews were excellent. I called in the afternoon and my dryer was fixed that evening. Joe was very accommodating time-wise -- he came after I got home from work. He heard the noise my dryer was making and immediately said there was something in it somewhere. Well, he discovered an empty toilet paper roll, I have no idea how it got there but he removed it and my dryer was as good as new. I got a discount for being on Angie's List so that was a nice bonus. To top it off, he even looked at my dead dishwasher and told me what was wrong with it. Joe was professional and very pleasant. He patiently answered all of my questions. I highly recommend his company.

Due to my refrigerator being in storage over the winter some of the hoses and valves froze. Joe came out 3/30 to review the what was wrong and identified the issue. He ordered the part and told me what the cost was. He also told me that I would not be charged for the service call since I was going to allow them to repair the appliance. on 4/14/2015 Joe and Mike came when scheduled and repaired the 1st part, however, when I turned on the water they found another leak. Joe immediately called his suppliers to see if they had the replacement valve and was able to get it next day. Joe actually was able to determine that the valve that the supplier had was not the correct one and found the correct one. on 4/16/2015 Mike came back to fix the valve. Joe couldnt because he was out ill and called to appologize for that. Mike did a nice job of fixing it and waited to ensure everything worked as intended.

Joe came out at 5:30 p.m., which was more convenient for me due to my work schedule. He arrived on time and was friendly. After looking at the freezer ice cube maker, he concluded that there was a high probablility that the IM optics emitter and receiver needed to be replaced. He said the cost, including all parts, labor and taxes would be roughly $150.00 Joe"s service call charge was only $30.00, which was far less than every other A-rated provider on Angies List. However, Joe did not charge me the service call fee at the time of his visit, as he said he would need to obtain the part and come back out to install it. We scheduled a follow-up appointment for two days later in the evening, but I had to cancel the appointment due to my work. When I called Joe to reschedule, he said that he would not be able to come out again to do the job, because he was ill. However, Joe gave me the part number and told me I could order it online or through the manufacturer of the refrigerator. Joe also graciously waived the $30.00 trip charge, and gave me step by step directions on what to do if I decided to perform the repair on my own. So, I bought the replacement part for about $100.00 from the manufacturer, and installed it myself. However, it did not solve the problem, so I called Joe again and he told me that the tube in the ice cube maker likely needed to be thawed out. He gave me a couple of options to thaw out the tube. After following his instructions, my reffrigerator ice cube maker/dispenser is working again. And, Joe declined to accept any payment. I would highly recommend Joe, due to his honesty, knowldedge and experience.

When moving the refrigerator, he was very careful not to crack or damage the ceramic tile on the floor, they were also very polite and friendly.

I had called the day before to tell them what had happened to my oven. I gave him the serial number of the oven. He showed up the next day with the needed part and within 10 minutes my oven was working again.

He was super friendly. I called on Thursday afternoon to ask him to come. He asked if the next morning would be quick enough. That was fine with us and he arrived when he promised. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem, then waited a bit to make sure that it didn't happen again. This was our second time using this service and we were pleased both times. I would definitely call them again.

The repair was done professionally and quickly, and the repair person explained each step of what was wrong and what he was doing to repair it. Great experience.

We have used Hometown appliance before. I called around 6 on a Friday night and they said they could come out later in the evening if that worked. He called when he was on his way. After determining that the current disposal was not jammed but no longer working, he let me know that he carried Whirpool brand disposals on his truck and could replace it or I could just pay him the service call fee. I had him replace it and he worked quickly and efficiently. As always they are very personable.

Had to get a part -- he came back the next day and fixed the dryer within an hour. Excellent

A Hometown is simply the nicest and most gracious repair company we have ever worked with. He always told us what was going on and gave candid feedback. For our last repair he waited for our overnight part to come from FedEx and then came directly over to replace the bad part as well as a burnt fuse.

It's excellent. He's very helpful and I would recommend him highly. He's also fixed our dryer previously and did an excellent job.
