He came on time. He diagnosed the problem, and had the factory-authorized part in his truck. Installed it promptly. He made a return visit the next day to better adjust the new device.

They were timely. They came when expected. They texted me to let me know they were on the way. I appreciated that. I had heard horror stories about having ice makers replaced and the price was lower than I expected. He was quick and efficient. In less than an hour, I had ice again.

I called A Hometown Appliance Service on the morning of June 24th. I spoke to the owner/service provider and explained that our washing machine was leaking. My husband had already checked for obvious leaks at the external connections. Joe said that he would be able to fix our machine that afternoon. . When he arrived, he was courteous and went right to work. He showed me the rubbery material, probably from a throw rug backing, that had clogged the water pump and caused it to fail. He quickly and efficiently replaced the pump, reassembled the machine and tested it to be sure that it no longer leaked. He also suggested that I watch the machine for leaks the next time I used the machine but he suspected that he had fixed the problem and we have had no additional issues. This provider did an excellent job and I will plan to use his services in the future.

t has been over a year since I used A Hometown Appliance. I called to get my dishwasher repaired. A new part was ordered and the dishwasher was repaired right away. I had a couple of companies tell me that it would cost less money for me to buy a new dishwasher. I cannot find the receipt, but know the repair was $250 or less. Much less than the cost of a new dishwasher. While there, Joe also looked at a washing machine and refrigerator that needed repair. He did not seem to mind as all, even though I had not mentioned them during our appointment call. He was unable to fix the washing machine, but did find me a previously owned machine that was in good condition. I did not have the money to buy a new machine and was very grateful. The refrigerator that was in my garage was not worth fixing. Joe took a lot of time explaining the repair and what future services might be needed. He also explained the new washing machine.

I couldn't be more pleased with the service provided by A Hometown Appliance Service. He quickly determined that my dryer issues were actually related to the dryer vent needing cleaning rather than a problem with the dryer itself. I've owned this home for 8 years. I've never had the vent cleaned and he suspected neither did the previous owner. He also advised that because of the length of the vent from dryer to outside I will always lose some efficiency. He also helped me with some minor issues with my washer. Teaching me the correct way to clean out some of the parts to stop build up and mold. I highly recommend A Hometown Appliance Service for your repair needs.
Description of Work: Figured out why my dryer wasn't drying clothing in a reasonable time. Cleaned out my dryer vent line from the dryer to the outdoor exit. Cut down the vent line that was installed way too long when the dryer was installed 8 years ago. Taught me how to correctly clean my washer apparatus to get rid of build up and mold.

I initially called because my dishwasher had standing water in the bottom. I called and Joe came out within a couple of days. He determined it was a broken latch that was causing the washer to pop open mid-cycle. He did not have the part, but did order it in my presence. He set a date to return. On that day, he called and informed me he was ill and unable to keep the appointment. We re-scheduled. Joe came out, fixed the latch, and thoroughly explained the issue and what he had done. He completely cleaned up after the work and was polite and friendly. Joe explained the part and his work were under full warranty for 90 days. Two to three weeks later, my dishwasher popped open again mid-cycle twice. I called to schedule a return visit. On the day of the appointment, I received a phone call from Joe and was told he had contacted KitchenAid regarding my issue. He said they had just recently, since he had initially been out, created a kit designed to fix my issue. He said he had not called me earlier to cancel the appointment because he was waiting on a return call from KitchenAid. He informed that this new kit would cost $65 and he would have it in a couple of days. I was concerned about the price as my paperwork stated the work was under warranty. To confirm, I called the KitchenAid help line. I was informed that no such kit had been created. At this point, I canceled my appointment with A Hometown Appliance.
Description of Work: The latch on my dishwasher was replaced and the handle was tightened. A second appointment to address continuing issues was set but canceled by me.

After my refrigerator suddenly stopped working, I called several appliance companies to get an estimate for repair. Hometown Appliance had the lowest service charge and could come the soonest. They arrived when promised, gave me an estimate and then we had to schedule a time for them to come back and do the repair because they had to order the part. After considering the cost for the repair, which was very high but due more to the part cost than labor, we decided not to put any more money into our 8 year old fridge. I called them to cancel the repair. They sent me the bill for the service call but said if we decided to do the repair in the future, they would still deduct the cost of the service call from the repair. I found them to be honest and knowledgable and would not hesitate to call again in the future.

Joe and his wife were very informative and personable people. They cleaned up before they left. They worked together to get it all done in a timely manner. I'll call them again next time an appliance needs some attention. I referred them to a friend who used them to fix a broken oven. She was also pleased with the results of their visit.

A Thanksgiving holiday tale with a happy ending, thanks to Holly & Joe at A Hometown Appliance Service. My refrigerator had been cooling less effectively for the previous week or so; Tuesday morning I decided a new refrigerator was the way to go and spent the day tracking down a replacement I could get delivered by Wednesday. Wednesday morning the old refrigerator showed slight signs of life with new condensation on water bottles on the door so I changed my mind and decided to try getting the first one repaired. Around 12:45 I figured out a promised return call from a different Angie's List provider was not going to happen; I ended up calling Holly at A Hometown Appliance Service and describing the problem. Within 5 minutes Joe returned my call and said he could add me to the schedule yet that afternoon. He and Holly rang the doorbell 45 minutes later and determined the problem was a broken evaporation motor. They located an OEM replacement motor, explained their itinerary for the rest of the day, and promised to pick up the part and return early in the evening to install it. Shortly after 6 p.m. they returned to complete the repair. Total cost around $175 vs a $675 new refrigerator so I was a very happy camper indeed. They finished up a little before 7 p.m., with Holly saying that, after my initial call, they had taken on a couple more calls that they still needed to complete that evening. How nice to find people this dedicated to a service ethic — I would call again in a heartbeat.

Arrived on time. When he looked at my washer he let me know that the fix was very expensive. He asked if I had a warranty or the original papers because the parts might be covered under the original warranty. We looked and the parts were indeed covered. He wrote everything down and told me what I needed to tell Sears. He gave me great advice. While there I mentioned my smelly dishwasher. He looked under the sink and saw that the flexible pipes were allowing food from the disposal to back up into the dishwasher. He taped them for me and told me how to clean out the dishwasher. Really very pleased with the service!!!

Joe and his assistant responded to my call very quickly. They showed up ontime and had the dryer taken apart to discover a small exhaust belt had come off the pully. He put the belt back on the pully and put the dryer together. Joe tested the dryer for a minute and told me there might be a bigger problem if the belt comes off again. He said it could be a motor shaft problem which would be very expensive to fix. I paid the bill. Five loads later the belt Joe reinstalled shredded and fell apart. I did not call him back.I called a parts store and ordered a new belt and installed it myself and my dryer has been working fine since! I don't know if Joe was trying to save me money or was setting me up for a larger repair bill--I JUST DON'T KNOW.

Joe came out, turned on the machine and saw the water coming out of the bottom of the machine. He then took off the front, top, and bottom panels to see where the leak was coming from. He discovered that the plastic inlet pipe had cracked. He called to see if he could locate that part. He found one in Dayton. It was delivered the following day and Joe was back out the day it was delivered to complete the repair!

Called and requested they drop my cook top down to fit on new Granite counter top which was left unfinished by a Granite company. Joe called me and was absolutely wonderful in discussing my problem with me and even offered up possible solutions. Although they didn't do what amounted to a possible adjustment of my cabinet which is more in the Handyman category and not really there business I would certainly trust this company in the future and will definitely be the first call if I ever need their services.

.I am very happy with the work performed and the friendly manner in which it was done. Should I need repairs on any other appliances I will certainly call A Hometown Appliance Service again.
Description of Work: My wall Kitchenaid oven quit working while in the middle of a cleaning cycle and locked my oven doors. I called A Hometown Appliance Service and told them what happened. He came out right away but already had a good idea of what was wrong from what I had told him over the phone. He determined that it would be a temperature sensor, fuse, or both. He ordered both parts to be sure that he had everything necessary when he removed the oven from its cupboard. He first looked at the oven on a Monday, and my oven was working by Wednesday morning. He took great care to not mark up my cabinets, and was friendly and efficient. I will definitely call him again should the need arise.

I came home one evening and my oven was warm even though it was turned off and nobody had been in the house all day. I called them the next morning and they were able to see me that day. Molly, the office manager, was very helpful and responsive with the details of the service. Joe, the technician, diagnosed and explained the problem quickly, and discussed the pro's and con's about fixing the problem vs replacing the stove. He gave me an accurate estimate of the cost and time it would take for the repair and they unplugged the stove for me so if wouldn't turn itself on again. They got the part and Joe came back the next day on time and explained the work as he was doing it. When he ran into troubles getting to the thermostat, he explained what might go wrong and let me weigh the risks. He was able to raise the top of the stove and get to part to replace it. The oven works and there were no problems with the stove top.
