Asbestos Hazard Control

This work was done in advance of a HVAC system replacement. Work was as described and accomplished quickly. It was also done much more simply than I expected - the top of the plenum was cut off with shears and removed. Done. This also left the furnace completely unserviceable, but this was expected and I had scheduled the HVAC guys right on their heels to reduce the time with heating or cooling (the temp during that time of year made this a moot point). AHC also applied tape over the duct taping in the vicinity of the furnace plenum in the area that was likely to be disturbed when the new furnace went in.

He was very candid in telling me that it did not and how I could remedy it myself. Very honest and would highly recommend.

Rich Kenney was very accommodating with respect to our busy schedule. Rich was extremely friendly and professional. Rich evaluated our ductwork thoroughly and confirmed that it was indeed probably asbestos, but that it was all in excellent condition and there was no need for remediation. He recommended that I do nothing, or at most use a spray adhesive and duct tape to encapsulate the existing tape. I fully anticipated paying Rich/AHC for the evaluation and advice, but Rich said no charge, just pass his name along if anyone I know needs him! What a pleasant surprise. To summarize, if you have any asbestos questions or issues, Rich Kenney and AHC are the way to go. It appears they do mold work as well, and I'm sure they are top notch at that, as well.

They were in hazmat outfits and they chipped it off in big chunks. They wet it down and cleaned the boiler off with a sander like a dental instrument and made it smooth. Then they shipped it off so there were no particles in the air. It was like a new original metal boiler without the asbestos. It was weird watching them because they cocoon the thing and test the air around the boiler. They can't leave until the air is clear so they keep testing it. When it is clear they take the cocoon down. It is not hard to chip it off. The guy I talked to said that you would have to work around asbestos for 35 years with no protection to have any problems. It said that it is very overrated.

Rich was very prompt in returning our calls and showing up to do the work. The survey was extremely thorough and the communication was very quick. Rich sent all documents to us via email and simply billed us for the work that had been done. I would highly recommend this company for anyone in need of an asbestos survey.

He was very responsive and accommodated my busy schedule. He is definitely an expert and his many years experience shows. Very professional and just took care of my concerns. He simply wanted to help and making a sale never came up. I strongly recommend Rich for any of your environmental needs. He is at the top of my list.

We found a different solution to the problem.

They arrived on time and with all the equipment needed. They covered the door at the top of the stairs, out of the basement, with plastic and duct tape to seal off the rest of the house. They also used a revererse blower to keep the air flowing to the outside door. They removed the 3 sections of asbestos covered pipes. They cleaned up and removed all of the debris. They were very professional, seemed very knowledgeable, and made me feel at ease with this situation.

I can’t say anything bad about them. They were absolutely perfect in every area, including price. They were very helpful in testing any materials I thought had asbestos. They were very timely and came right out! They performed this work on a Friday and gave me the answer on Monday. They also gave us advice on what to do. I would hire them again.

They were prompt and professional, and completed work as promised for a fair price. They missed some spots initially, but came back within a day or two to fix it when I let them know.

AHC was one of three companies referred to us for an estimate on asbestos abatement. Rich Kenney came to the property and was our contact for receiving the estimate. He was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We chose another company because less prep was required by us before the asbestos abatement and the price was approx. $2,000 less than AHC. We were happy with the company we chose, but we would get an estimate from this company if we had another asbestos job.

They were very good and cooperative. They went up and above to provide letters and correspondence to get my mother back in her home.

They came-in and completed the work in 1.5 days. They did what they said they'd do.

Everything went well. I was very impressed by the crew. It was easy to forget they were even in the house--they were so quiet!

I spoke with Rich Kenny and an appointment was scheduled accommodating my schedule. He arrived on time and was very professional and friendly. He provided a basic estimate on the spot and promised a hard estimate by e-mail which arrived sooner than he promised. He was very informative about precautions and potential dangers in dealing with asbestos and we felt very safe with his plan and his estimate was about half the amount quoted by others. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. Don Marofsky was in charge and provided instruction to the technicians. As he left he provided us with his card so we could call if we had any questions. The men were polite and informative about the steps they were taking. The plastic room was constructed, the asbestos properly removed and air samples taken when complete. We were instructed not to disturb the plastic until test results were returned. Results were delivered and clean. The plastic was removed and the furnace replaced.

The complex removal project was accomplished to the EPA, OSHA, NIOSH, and other ordnances in an efficient and timely manner. At all times the workers were very professional and courteous.

He suggested that at this point we need to wait on having the work done. He was very responsive. He came out the same day. He came out free of charge to give an estimate on what having the work done would cost.

Rich, the estimator, was very competent and knowledgeable. He was very easy to communicate with and readily available by phone. The two workers were also very competent. Overall, a good experience with no problems. Their estimate was very close to a competitors; I chose AHC because Rich inspired confidence.

The crew was polite and punctual. Overall, a good job. Left one small, somewhat hidden area unencapsulated, which had to be done the next day. Cleanup was generally good, but not spectacular. The price was substantially higher than similar jobs from this company in the past (based upon the other Angie's List reports). Market forces no doubt in play given the paucity of abatement companies in Columbus. I would recommend this company. Its contact person was easy to deal with and always got back to me quickly if I missed him on a call. Overall--very good. Use this company without reservations.

I called for an estimate and set up an appointment. The day he was to arrive (about 15-20 minutes after he was supposed to be here) he called to say that he was stuck in traffic and would be late. He ended up being about 45 minutes late. He stomped mud all over my floor. He didn't have a ladder, so I had to get my ladder out of the garage to take up to the attic. He did look around in the attic and took a bunch of pictures and said he'd contact me in three days with an estimate. He called back three days later and said I would need to contact the insulation company that did the attic, because he thought the condensation issue was from poor insulation. He told me to call the insulation company to get money from them to fix the issue. He then said he'd have to come back with a roofer to give an actual estimate, and he wouldn't do that until I contacted the insulation company. I would never hire or call them again, I feel they wasted my time.

Extremely professional and courteous. Worked quickly and efficiently, and were very fair in price.

THE COMPANY WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. I HAD A QUOTE FROM A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COMPANY THAT ACTUALLY WAS NO LONGER THERE AND THE COMPANY HONORED THE ORIGINAL QUOTE REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS NO LONGER THERE AND THE QUOTE WAS OVER SIX MONTHS OLD. I THOUGHT THAT WAS OVER AND BEYOND WHAT YOU NORMALLY EXPERIENCE. THE PROFESSIONALISM DIDN'T STOP THERE. DON MAROWFSKI SHOWED UP WITHIN TWO DAYS TO DO THE JOB. I EXPLAINED TO RICH AT THE HOME OFFICE THAT MY HUSBAND HAD THROAT CANCER AND THE THOUGHT OF ASBESTOS FLOATING AROUND FROM DISTURBED TAPE WAS DRIVING ME CRAZY. HE SENT SOMEONE OUT WITHIN 48 HOURS. DON TOOK SUCH PRIDE AND CARE TO DO A THOROUGH JOB. HE WASN'T BEING PAID BY THE HOUR SO THERE WAS NO INCENTIVE TO STALL OUT THE JOB AS THEY WERE ABIDING BY MY ORIGINAL QUOTE AND DIDN'T EVEN ASK WHAT IT WAS UNTIL THE JOB WAS FINISHED. DON RAN OUT OF THE TAPE BUT AT MY REQUEST MADE A CALL TO THE HOME OFFICE TO HAVE THE SAME TAPE DROPPED OFF TO MY HOUSE IN ORDER TO COMPLETE.

EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY AND ON SCHEDULE.

ONE OF THE BEST SERVICE WORK EXPERIENCES WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT AND CLEAN IN THE ASBESTOS REMOVAL PROCESS AND THEN WAITED PATIENTLY FOR AN AWFUL HEATING CONTRACTOR TO FINISH HIS WORK BEFORE THEY CAME BACK TO INSULATE WRAP THE PIPES. THEY FOLLOWED UP REGULARLY THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, WERE EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL AND VERY INFORMATIVE ABOUT THEIR WORK. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
