I called for an appointment on a Tuesday; John called me back the same day and scheduled the inspection for Thursday that same week. He was very professional and arrived on time for the appointment. This inspection was for two cottages and a pole barn in a rural area - not the usual residential inspection. John was undaunted by the strange inspection request. He was very thorough - and there was a lot wrong with the structures. He provided a detailed written report and over 30 photos. Most inspections take about 3 hours - this one took even more because there was so much to evaluate. At one point John asked if I had time to continue because we had already spent over 3 hours - he charges a flat fee and he wasn't going to stop until he finished the job - but he was considerate of my time schedule. We continued on for about another 30 minutes until the job was finished. I would recommend John to anyone and I would use his services again.

I called Metro Home Inspections based on the feedback of previous Angie's List reports. I'd have to say that most of what people have said is accurate. After leaving a message for him with his office staff he called me back that same day and agreed to do the inspection at the date and time we agreed on. he showed up right on time and I feel did a thorough inspection. Thankfully he didn't find anything too serious on the house but the few things he did flag for us we were able to have the seller's repair for us. He also posts digital pictures of the most problematic things he finds which is helpful as well. The day he did the inspection he wasn't able to test the AC unit since it was too cold outside. But 2 days later when he went back to retrieve the radon testing unit he was able to inspect the AC unit. Cost-wise he's in the ballpark and he seemed to know what he was doing and probably saved me some $$ in the long-run by letting me know upfront what issues the house has. The house is about 16 years old and no house is 'perfect'. I'd endorse him and use him again if I needed to.

We needed a home inspection for a house that had some unique structural issues, so we wanted a PE (Professional Engineer) to do the job. I called John to do a home inspection for us, and he scheduled us the next day. He arrived on time and got right to work after going over his services and deliverables. He ultimately spent 3.5 hours on the property and was very thorough. He encouraged me to stay with him the entire time so he could point out issues and problems as he went. However, he also documented everything in a written report and with pictures that he posted to his website. This particular home had been inspected by someone else shortly before John came in, and he obviously detected things (including gas leaks) that the other inspector missed. I left the property with a written report, and pictures were posted on his website within 24 hours. He also called me two days after the inspection to clarify a few points he had been thinking about and actually revised his report to reflect those clarifications. I would not hesitate to use John Sender again or recommend him to others needing a home inspection.

I CAN'T RECOMMEND JOHN MORE HIGHLY. HE WAS VERY PROMPT, POLITE, PROFESSIONAL AND JUST SUPER TO DEAL WITH. DURING THE INSPECTION, JOHN WANTED ME ALONGSIDE HIM AND IT WAS AN INTERESTING 3 1/2 HOURS. BESIDES CONDUCTING THE INSPECTION AND POINTING OUT POTENTIAL CONCERNS, HE MADE LOTS OF GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS ABOUT HOME MAINTENANCE, THINGS TO WATCH FOR IN THE FUTURE, ETC. HE WAS PERSONABLE AND SEEMED TO GENUINELY CARE BOTH ABOUT HIS WORK AND ABOUT THE BIG PURCHASE WE WERE ABOUT TO MAKE. AND HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT.

He did an excellent job! He's very responsive with phone calls and any questions you may have. He also comes back for an additional inspection after any work is done on your home at no extra charge. He's very thorough; he takes pictures and gets the report to you the same day.

Great. He was extremely thorough and walked me through the house and gave a very detailed written report at the end. Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for home inspector.

John Sender, the owner of "Metro Home Inspections LLC" performed the most thorough inspection I have ever witnessed. He even called me a few days later to warn me of a potentially dangerous finding that he had done more research on! I feel that I now know exactly what I am purchasing and what to expect in the next five years in terms of maintenance.

I think we got a good picture of the condition of the home. The inspection of the exterior was particularly thorough. However, the inspector was not very communicative with me or responsive to my questions. I was lucky to have a companion who was more well versed in home structures, who was able to interpret the inspector's comments for me and was also able to push the inspector to follow through in investigating several issues. A few times the inspector claimed that a given issue could not be addressed because we would not have visual access to the structure, and my companion worked out in a few minutes how we could in fact gain that access. Also, I hired this particular inspector because he claimed to have expertise in structural issues, but at several points in the inspection he disavowed this knowledge. I think this is a good inspector, but that one needs to work with him more intensively than I would have expected.

I was able to confirm an appointment within the week, and John Sender followed up with detailed questions prior to the appointment. He arrived on time and took about 2 3/4 hours to review the exterior of the property with us, as well as the garage and all interior spaces. During the inspection process, he shared a lot of information about the conditions he observed. The detailed written report he provided at the end of the inspection, identified specific tasks with priorities, which are aiding us in scheduling the necessary improvements in order of urgency. The report will also aid in providing full disclosures to potential buyers. He also offered to be available for subsequent questions.

I worked with John, and he has been excellent. He spent over 2 hours with me for each inspection. He answered all my questions and was extremely through. He is a licensed professional engineer. These qualifications made this a great experience.

John was very thorough and knowledgeable. He explained everything well and identified what he thought to be fire and safety hazards per our request. He found an unusual situation regarding the fireplace chimney-wood forms left in the smoke chamber from the time it was built. He was helpful in directing us to the right professionals to properly remove the wood, and he even took the time to follow up. His report was very easy to understand, and he gives the report at the time of the inspection so that needed repairs can be identified and made quickly.

I really liked how they wrote everything out and gave me a folder of it. Were easy to work with. They came, took care of business and left. They were right on time. I would recommend them.

John hits the ground running, usually starting by climbing on the roof....He knows home construction well.

He called me very promptly and was willing to discuss the situation on the phone, but I requested an in home inspection of the situation. He was up front and told me his fee before coming to the house. He was very professional and seemed to have a wealth of knowledge about his field.

It was excellent! They responded the next day and set up an appointment. He was very knowledgeable, prompt, and professional. He was very thorough and was here for 3 hours.

JOHN WAS VERY THOROUGH AND PROFESSIONAL.

He was as detailed as I have ever had-and I have moved a lot, so we have had many done. He got on the roof, and into all attic areas. He had all the electronic stuff, and perhaps the most important to me -he is an engineer, and in my case was able to point out a defect I had missed that would have been a nightmare.

A1. I am a REALTOR and even though I am very familiar with homes, I absolutely do rely on a qualified home inspection. John did give me a discount due to the water service being turned off and limiting the inspection. John does not hold back - he will tell you if there is a true problem or just a minor maintenance issue. After John's inspections, I know that the buyer has a good understanding about the present condition of the home. John is always on time (usually there before you get there) and is very exact in the inspection process.

The inspection went very well, and I would highly recommend John to anyone purchasing a house. John is very detailed oriented and communicates his findings very clearly.

John Sender was very polite and easy to make an appt. with. The inspection took over three hours. He was very thorough, answered questions and explained all the issues (small and large) to us. We were very pleased with the overall inspection and we were given the report the same day. The report was in a checklist format with short descriptions written in at the bottom. I'm told that this is a common format. In hindsight, I did wish his report was written out as a narrative, in laymen's terms since there were some specific findings that we wanted to go back to the seller with. I called John and asked him if he could write a more detailed description on these findings and he did so within 24 hrs. (on a Sunday evening). He also supplied digital pictures that highlighted his findings. This was extremely helpful in our negotiations.

I arrived at 8:45 am for a 9 am appointment and he was already there walking around the perimeter of the house. He started with the house's roof and took photos with a digital camera, which he showed me. His reports were extremely detailed. He allowed me to go up the ladder to look into the attic to see problems he noted there. He asked me questions I was unable to answer because the homeowner wasn't there. I didn't buy the house for reasons not having to do with the home inspection; but when I am ready to buy, I will definitely call again.

John is awesome -- very thorough, conscientious, meticulous -- everything you want in an inspector. He points out every little thing -- issues that he noticed that most homeowners would never care about. Like the lack of safety glass in a bathroom window that's not right next to the tub. John is great about follow-up questions and obviously cares about what he does. Not the cheapest, but he's got to be one of the absolute best.

John is punctual and polite. He is knowledgeable and did a thorough job, with the exception of testing our heating and A/C systems. Although we apparently have a very complicated system and he spent extra time trying to figure it all out, we moved into the house with neither the A/C nor heat working appropriately despite passing his test. It has been a large thorn in our side trying to get it fixed for the last 4 months and we desperately wish it was caught before we signed our papers!!!

Mr. Spender was punctual, professional, and pleasant. He was extremely conscientious and detail oriented. After the day of the inspection, he followed through promptly with any remaining concerns. I would highly recommend him.
