I moved into a home with a Brinks security system. If you're in the same boat, you know that Brinks became Broadview, and Broadview became ADT. Well, when I inquired about starting-up service I became entrapped in a maze of contracts, tiered pricing, and up-charges. Smoke detector, that's extra. Carbon monoxide, that's even more. My monitoring was going to be about $40/month. And they wanted me to sign a three year contract. I've learned through this process that it's important to know whether you own AND can program whatever security system is in your home if you later want to leave for greener (cheaper) monitoring pastures. It turns out that neither is true with my Brinks system. So, I set out to find great service and a great price. I found both with Sievers after calling several national, local, and no-name companies. When I called the Sievers to first inquire about service, Mike Sievers took my call and walked me through the process. He then offered to send out a technician, free of charge, to see what they could do with my current system. Mark from arrived on-time, with a call before coming. He placed protective footwear on without being asked, and was professional as I balanced him, an ATand T installer, and unpacking boxes. It turns out ADT entered my system and locked it, making the panel useless because it is not programmable. I wasn't even able to arm the system - so much for ownership. Mark made a quick call to Paul, the service manager, and came back with a quote of $100 to replace the brains of my system and two keypads. The remainder of my system would be salvaged. When it comes to monitoring Sievers was very competitive. I have six zones - three doors, a motion detector, a smoke detector, and a carbon monoxide detector. Monitoring was quoted at $7.95 for the first six months, and $18.95 for every month thereafter. Sievers asked that I stay with them for one year. I asked to be placed on a payment plan for the equipment and monitoring. Sonya in billing was very kind, humorous, and quickly worked out a solution - about $24 a month for 12 months for equipment and monitoring. And, at the end of the year Paul assures me that I'll own the system AND can leave to whatever monitoring company I choose. But, he insists that they'll treat me so well that I'll stay. If Sievers's competitive, professional, and local service is any indication, I think Paul's correct. I want to provide an example of Sievers' honesty, a vital quality for a company I'm trusting with my family's security. When I first called and spoke with Mike, he told me that he could do the job for $100. Paul, not knowing about my previous conversation with Mike, came back with a price of $125. Not off by much, but still higher. One call the Mike and he immediately offered to honor his original price. With all the confusing price games I've experienced in my search for security, I find this kind of businessman to be refreshing and rare. I also want to provide an example of how Seivers works with its customers. I originally booked the technician on a Monday. ATand T dropped the ball on having my phone installed and so it was impossible to do the install same-day. Despite having booked the whole afternoon for me, Sievers agreed to come back that same week on a Friday afternoon. They worked around my full-time work schedule and need for fast install. Technically, the installation was superb. We now have a working system, that's expected. But Mark went above by also customized the system by modes suited to the way we use our alarm. He also made two troubling discoveries. First, there was a broken wire in the carbon monoxide detector installed by Brinks. So, if there was a leak, the system would not have triggered. In addition, there were no and quot;resistorsand quot; on any of my lines which Mark explained made it impossible for the Brinks system to determine if there was trouble in the line. Mark corrected both of those system faults. While the install was technically well-executed, there were some faults when it came to customer service. My primary concern was that Mark seemed rushed and unwilling to walk me through the use of my new system. When he began the install Mark gave me a long user guide and told me to read it over. When I asked him questions, Mark gave a brief explanation, and then directed me back to the user guide. I'm an attorney and used to reading technical documents, but the user guide didn't answer my questions. I ended up having to call Sievers for an answer to my question. To compile the problem, the after hours dispatcher gave me incorrect information - specifically, my system will not convert a and quot;stayand quot; setting into an and quot;awayand quot; setting (thereby arming the motion detector) if I open a door while the and quot;stayand quot; setting is arming. A second, and by far more minor problem, was that Mark didn't clean up after himself at the sites where the keypads were installed on my first and second floor. Instead, he left plaster dust and paint chips for us to clean-up. These two issues were a poor ending to an otherwise outstanding performance. But, an A- is still an A.
Description of Work: Uninstall Brinks security panel and two keypads, and replace with new security panel and two keypads. Also, monitoring of six zones - three doors, one motion, one smoke, and one carbon monoxide detector.

The Sievers representative came to out home and discussed our security concerns, walked the house and discusse options. He recommeded the appropriate level of security for our home- not more than we needed but what best addressed areas of concern. The installation occurred when expected and was customized to fit our needs. We have been very satisfied with the performance of the system as well as the monitoring service. The system is monitored locally, not by a national call center and this was an important point for us. We have been very satisfied with the system and the ongoing monitoring. It is reliable, the phone reps are helpful and the price is reasonable.

They have done a good job. They came out because I was looking to looking to change my service provider for my security system. They came out and looked around. They were very professional. They made an appointment and they were here right on time. They examined my garage doors and security systems. It seems like that they are going to be the service provider I am going to select, but I haven't done anything yet.

I went with them because they are a local company. The pricing information that I was given was confusing. I was not happy with their service at first. I was trying to get in touch with them to change an appointment and it was very hard to get through to them. They only do service calls one night a week. They certainly don't cater to people who have a full time day job. I have a three year contract with them. I may look at other security system providers. Their prices are a little higher than others.

Sievers installed a security system in my house in Feb. of this year. We have had to have them back to service it three times due to no communication with the monitoring station from our system. Each time I am given a different reason, and a flip response to my questions concerning frequency of the problem. The last time the technician that the operator put on the phone with me said that the reason was that the cell towers of ATand T were down because of the rain that happened 4 hours previously. I called ATand T and told them of my problem and they assured me that they had no problems with their towers. I called Sievers back and said I wanted to talk to Mr Sievers. He did not answer his cell phone, achording to the operator, so she left a message for him to call me, he never did. I then received a call from another operator informing me that the problem was being worked on at their station and they would call me when they completed the repair and have me test the system. I finally did receive a call and did test the system and they said they received the signal, then a guy got on the phone and said he was the head technician or something and said the problem was on their end and was due to problem receiving a signal from another company's tower, not ATand T, and that the technician that told me that should never have said that. He said what they would do is on Monday install a back up system to my system so I would not have this problem and they would credit me a few months of monitoring fees. I also told the operator I still wanted to talk with Mr Sievers, when she asked which one, I answered, I wanted to talk to the biggest guy in the company. The Monday came and went without a call or a tech coming to install the back up. I gave it a week and nothing. I finally got in touch with Mike Sievers this past Monday and when I tried to talk to him about my experiences he kept interrupting me and not letting me complete the story. He told me he would have a tech come out the next day to install an antenna onto the system so that the signal will never go down again, the tech did come, but did not install the antenna, he said the system had a good signal and it would not help. I would strongly suggest staying away from this company!

The person from Sievers Security who installed the system knew what he was doing and installed things to me. Fortunately it hasn't been tested yet but I am happy about the system and it makes me feel much safer. Before coming into the house I can see that everything looks good and works as it is supposed to. The salesperson that checked the place was very low-key and pleasant and looked around. I think that the price is reasonable. I have called once or twice to ask questions about the system but I will agree with what everyone else says about Sievers which is that they are great!

Each time I have called into Sievers I immediately get a REAL kind and professional person who handles everything right away. We bought a house that had a security system installed. when we first moved in the system was not being monitored but made a chime when an exterior door was opened. Two days after we moved in the system started chiming all the time. I called the company that used to monitor the system for the old owners to ask how to turn the system off to stop the chime. They said they would tell me only if I paid for a service call. I called Sievers, told them my situation and they walked me through disconnecting the system at the board to stop the chimes. They were so helpful and nice. When we decided to reactivate the system and have it monitored we called them. They said that they would take over an existing system free of charge and if we set up automatic payments the monthly fee was $19. It was easy to get an appointment that worked with my hectic schedule. I LOVE that an actual person answered the phone every time I called the main number. The tech that came out was prompt, professional and very informative. He was unable to get the system working because it was too old (installed with the house in 1977) and said we needed to have the main board replaced. A different tech came out the second time. He was also very polite and professional. He was also very mindful of our children and dog everytime he had to go in/out of the house. He was very patient when trying to explain how to operate the system and answered all of my 100 questions without ever seeming irritated or annoyed. I also like that Sievers is a local company. My house is being monitored by someone in Cleveland and not 1000 miles away.

Sievers wired the system incorrectly into our phone line and we lost service for a number of days until they could come back out and rewire the system. Also, the motion sensor they installed kept being triggered by our 18 pound dog (we were told the sensor wouldn't detect animals under 60 pounds). So they had to come out again and use a different sensor in a different location. Also, the installer broke the door off of the alarm box so they had to replace that as well. However, everyone there is very nice and professional and they fixed everything. Now that they system is wired and operating properly, we're very happy. I had to give them a "C" overall given the initial troubles.

They had competitive pricing on the installation and only sold me what I wanted, while offering realistic suggestions on how to receive the protection which I desired, and as a local company (not too small, but not too big) they seemed a good fit. The monthly monitoring rate is very good. The technician was focused and systematic in designing and installing the setup, and he took an entire day to put in the system - it looks very nice, with all hardware neatly in place (in retrospect, I think I would have appreciated knowing in advance where all hardware was going to be placed, just as a courtesy, not that it would have changed much if it needed to be in a certain place for functionality - but I was just mildly surprised by the placement... anyway, not a big deal!). About a week after installation, we realized that we wanted to add an additional security piece which we had initially declined, and they had a technician come back out and install it for a nominal price. The service manager seems to be a little busy and hard to get ahold of when I have called a couple of times with a minor question - but that is the price of a successful business, I guess! Billing has not been a problem other than one slight glitch where my online enrollment discount wasn't applied - Sonya quickly and courteously fixed that. The support/phone staff has been absolutely wonderful (Jason, Alissa, Katie, etc - sorry I can't remember everyone's names!), and they allowed us to "play around" with the monitoring system a couple of times to familiarize ourselves with it, testing various alarms so that we could see what we could and could not do. We have accidentally set off the alarm twice upon re-entering our home, and staff was efficient and kind with helping us with this (user error!) - they are very prompt in responding, even with false alarms! Overall, after three months, we are very pleased with the system and feel very safe and protected! I believe that we made a very good choice!

Couldn't have been better. The service was quick, pleasant, professional and painless. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was.
Description of Work: I backed into my garage door when it was only halfway open, causing the bottom to buckle. I was still able to raise and lower the door, but it made horrible noises. I called on Monday, 8/3, and the technician came out on Tuesday, 8/4. He did something with a prybar, and within a few minutes the door was once again operating quietly. He also lubed all the moving parts and put new nails in all along the top rubber molding. (I had told him that the molding had been coming loose repeatedly for months and months, and I had not been able to get it to stay up.)
