Precision Overhead Garage Door

My garage door opener had been acting up for a few months, but I could live with it. Then this week it stopped working altogether.... I was able to open it, but then it looked like some kind of chain came off track and the motor would run, but the door would not close. I live in a condo, and it's a 3 car garage, and one of the spots and doors belongs to me. Since I share the space with my neighbors and have to be conscious about the safety of their belongings, I wanted to get the door repaired ASAP. I called Precision at 8 am and the technician was here by 9:30 am. He was very professional. He told me my garage door opener was made by a company that went out of business 10 years ago, so he wouldn't be able to get new parts. He said in order to get it functioning, he would just have to replace the whole thing. Then he asked when I moved into the place, I told him a year ago, and he told me he could tell that the door had never been serviced in that time. It was off balance. He recommended a "long term fix", which was the complete garage door overhaul. He showed me the brochure about the overhaul, and we negotiated the price. Honestly, I was floored by the price -- it wasn't what I was expecting at all, it was a lot more money. I had the choice to do just the opener, but he did a hard sell on the overhaul package too. After deliberation, I chose to do the whole thing. The door is working great, the parts look sturdy and he did an excellent job installing them. The door is super quiet due to the new nylon rollers. But I do feel like I spent way more then I needed to, and did way more work then I needed to. In retrospect I would not have done the whole overhaul. I wish I would have given it more time and thought. Frustrating, but the good news is that it does have a lifetime warranty.

Our technician (Bill) was prompt, courteous, confident and knowledgeable though he had only been with the company for a few months. I was very happy with the service provided and the manner in which it was completed. I have already recommended this company to others in my neighborhood.

Everything went fine, I guess I thought maybe more could be done, I don't see any change in the door operation. I can only assume that overall the door is fine as is, noise and all.

I was very pleased that the company came out to do the repair on a Sunday without charging me a premium fee for an emergency. They accepted the Angie's list coupon for money off the service fee. The technician called and asked if he could come a half hour earlier than the window of time I was told initially, which was fine with me! He did the work on the spot and left the door running smoothly. I did decide to go with the rebuild rather than just repair the broken cable because my door and its hardware was 15 years old. I can't really evaluate the price since I did not get estimates from other companies. The work has a lifetime warranty on parts and to me, it was worth the piece of mind, but yes, it was a bit more than I was hoping to spend. The technician was very professional and cleaned up the area, taking away all the old hardware. I noticed afterwards that the company had sent me an email immediately after I made the appointment confirming the information and also including a photo of the technician who would be responding. I thought this was a nice touch.

Very well - we purchased an Angie's List Big Deal to have them do a maintenance check. Our openers were old, commercial openers with no safety features. We elected to have the openers replaced, and Precision did the work quickly and efficiently.

Our technician (Bill) looked at our door, fully explained what was going wrong with our old opener and springs, and explained the various options we had to repair it. We chose to have both the opener and springs replaced at a cost of $869. Our technician showed up at the time he said he would, went above and beyond when performing the work, and fully cleaned up when he was done. The job was completed in 3 hours. We are very happy with the service that we received. Every step of the way, Bill took the time to explain everything and answer our questions. He double- and triple-checked that everything had been installed correctly and the way we wanted it. He even took the time to install additional screws to secure the rafters that the garage opener mechanism was mounted to, to make sure that nothing would eventually be shaken loose. We definitely would use this company again.

The technician arrived on time, went over what the service would cover and completed the job, including replacing rollers, resetting the timing, lubricating all moving parts and checking the entire door and other parts. Very thorough and the door worked much better after the service. We had one remote which had stopped working and the tehc was able to replace it and program the new one to our opener. Very satisfied with theoverall experience.

Matt left a voice mail asking if he could arrive earlier than the scheduled time. I called back and said, ?Yes!? The earlier time worked well with my schedule that day. He arrived at the revised time. He was very professional and answered all of my questions. I will definitely call Precision Door for any future work.

Bill was great. He assessed the situation. He had to saw thru the metal to get the opener railings aligned correctly. The doorwas more complicated as the floor was higher and the door had a smaller space. The garage also leans slightly so that was also taken into account. All parts were oiled to make sure they would be working correctly. He was able to correct the errors made by the cement company.

Went fine. Were on time, did work as promised, explained what they had done.

the young man was very good. He explained things before and after and even replaced my burned out light bulb in the unit he was punctual, did quality work, very professional and well mannered

I contacted the company via email through Angie's List. I rec'd a prompt email reply saying that they would be able to schedule my appointment at my requested time, and then they sent a second email confirming the appointment time. That email included the name of the technician schedule to come to my home, and included phots of each of their technicians so that I would know who was coming to my home. I thought this was a GREAT safety feature. The technician called 2 hours prior to my appointment and said his first appointment had cancelled and he could come earlier if I wanted him to do so. When he arrived, Bill looked at the problem (one of the springs had "sprung" off the track). He gave me several options, including a less expensive short-term solution, or a more expensive but long-term solution that he could do on the spot, or an even more expensive complete replacement of the entire garage door that would have to be scheduled for a future date. I decided to go with the on-the-spot long-term solution since this was not the first time that I had problems with the springs on this old garage door. Bill went to work and completely re-worked the opening mechanisms, moving the springs from the two runners on the sides of the garage to a single line mounted above the garage door. I was really impressed by the professionalism of the emails I received from this company and I was really pleased with the options I was given and the work performed. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

I explained my garage door was in need of repair. He inspected it and came back with some parts to replace some damaged panels. He also lubricated the springs. He gave good advice, did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend him .

They did a fine job. For the price we paid it was a very good deal.

I was very fortunate that the $99.00 deal came about when I was having serious issues with my door opener. Matt had it fixed in about 5 minutes flat. I was astounded that I was able to schedule the service so quickly after purchasing the deal since there was a disclaimer that there might be some delay in scheduling due to volume, not to mention the trip from Garfield Heights to Amherst. Everything was done within an hour. I was completely satisfied (especially when I found out what the rollers cost) with the deal and the service. I will keep Precision on my short list if I have any issues with my garage door again.

Was OK, tried to sell additional services without thinking through the price, seemingly offering a deal whereas he was just giving me the catalog price and was charging for services he had already performed!

We were pleased with their response when we called them, they arrived at the appointed time. They did the activity we had anticipated. We were pleased with their service and the end result was a satisfactory performing garage door.

I had used Precision before with a Angie's Big Deal. I was pleased at that time with the service performed. I was very pleased with the punctuality and the service Brad performed. I felt no pressure in the purchase of my new garage door opener. Brad explained everything to me; he was professional and the job was completed very promptly. I am very happy with everything that was accomplished and will recommend Precision to my friends. P.S. Brad is a superior representative for Precision!

After reading reviews on Angie's List and other sites, I determined that my spring repair was minor in nature could be easily fixed at a cost of $100-$200 depending on what other parts I chose to replace. A young guy came out to provide me an estimate and immediately began with the upsell. He said I would need to have the entire track and all accompanying parts replaced. This service was a flat $495. But why stop there?! He then proposed to replace the other door's equally old equipment for double the price?! He then recommended that since we were already in the $1k area, it may be economical to just replace both garage doors and tracks for a measly $1800 plus another $500 if I wanted a new door opener. I'm sure you can imagine the look on my face as we went from replacing a busted spring to basically a totally new garage door system for $2,300! As you can imagine, I did not go with Precision. I went with a one man shop that came over and replaced all of the parts in BOTH garage doors for $460 all-in. The garage works better than it ever has and I still have my awesome wood doors instead of the cheap metal ones they tried to talk me into. The only positive I'll note about Precision is that they responded to my call immediately and the estimator was out the very next morning. The sleazy car salesmen approach, however, was laughable and completely torched the goodwill Precision had built by being on responsive and timely.
