Installation crew showed up on time and went right to work. Installation was performed according to the estimate with some extra insulation done beyond what was quoted based on the supervisors recommendation but without additional cost. My only issue was that they started to pull out the old insulation right away and after a few minutes, they then decided to cover things more effectively to cut down on dust going everywhere. Towards the end of the work, the salesman showed up and inspected the work to make sure it was done correctly. I am very pleased and would recommend them again.
Description of Work: Installation of insulation in a second floor open bedroom area. They removed the old, deteriorated insulation, installed a combination of blown in and kraft insulation, wrapped the heating duct, and installed baffle vents.

He came in with an estimate. Determined the reflective matieral I was interested in had to be verified if it was perforated for air circulation. Called back and was honest and said the material was NOT perforated, and he did not recommend as it could cause mold issues. I appreciated the honest opinion, and he called back as promised.
Description of Work: Estimate only - very professional. Would recommend. I am still exploring options

the company workers arrived at the time requested which was easily negotiated. they covered the carpet (it was snowing outside) and runs right up to the area where they worked. They layed the Corning then blew in the particle insulation. I looked up into the attic to see the final effect. It appeared well done to me. The service took ~ 3 hours. they were courteous and efficient (except for opening the window to get they equipment in - which i am sure could not be helped. I would use they again as they did a good job and even expressed a desire to please the customer.

Northcoast Insulation did an excellent job from start to finish. From the initial meeting and estimate to the final clean up, Northcoast was very professional, showed up on time, performed the work as specified, were neat, clean, and respectful of my property and privacy in spite of having to come through bedrooms and closets to access the attic spaces. He made sure to address all the issues related to insulating the different spaces, allergy/asthma concerns and storage concerns. He used a combination of blown in and rolled insulation, as I have allergies to the paper/fiber cellulose insulation and needed to keep some space in the one attic for storage. The crew was careful to tarp off and protect carpets and other areas from the blown in insulation and foot traffic. The house is noticeably warmer, less drafty and quieter too. Would recommend NorthCoast wholeheartedly.

The work was performed on the scheduled day and the workers worked quickly, but in a professional manner. The work performed was as promised and the price was exactly what I had been quoted. The workers cleaned up after themselves and left my home and yard in good condition.
Description of Work: North Coast Insulation inspected my two attics and determined that no additional insulation had been added since the house was built in 1974. They also noted that the attic over my garage and family room had no soffits. The company added four soffits to my attic and enough insulation to raise my insulation value from R-19 to over R-39. Everyone that I spoke with was friendly and professional. The work was performed on schedule as promised. The workers put mats over my carpet as needed and cleaned up after themselves when the job was done.

They were very professional and cleaned up well after themselves. I would definately recommend this company for a job at a friends home.

Jim Myers and his crew arrived promptly. They started the work over the garage which was great because my kids were still sleeping. They finished up over the garage and started on the roof. Jim then told me he was headed out to another site. He said the guys would finish up and then walk me through the work that was done. Originally, Jim estimated the work would take 4 hours. About an hour later the guys said they were done (this was 1.5 hours less than estimated) and they did not offer to walk me through what was done. I did ask if they were sure the area was well insulated and he did reply yes but they did not offer any more details. I was very impressed with Jim not so much with the technicians. Overall the area over the garage seems warmer. The area over the roof not seeing a huge difference that was anticipated.
Description of Work: Replaced insulation above garage and under the roof. Placed baffles between rafters. Repaired spot where insulation had slipped down. Jim Myers came by and provided an estimate. He did an excellent job of explaining what needed to be done. He was very responsive and scheduled the work promptly.

Doug was responsive in both returning phone calls and putting together quotes for the ventilation job. The crew was very personable and professional. One the crew was very helpful in explaining what they were doing and even found evidence of the roofing company (new roof installed two weeks earlier) did not complete work thoroughly. I have no complaints, just a "do better" and that would be to explain the product they are using better. I had to do my own research on the solar vents and insulation not sure what was used. I will ask Doug for a warranty or paperwork for the vents (non were provided) and more detail. I worked with Doug to provide a detailed scope of work and he was willing to provide this for me. I would use his services again.

Had problems with Ice Dams this Winter and remembered an article in Cleveland Plain Dealer that additional insulation would be helpful. So I got bids from a few companies & accepted one from North Coast Insulation (article also quoted company owner Doug Bruell as "ice dam expert"). They came on time, acted professionally, & finished the job promptly. The job went well EXCEPT for two things: (1) their quote included wrapping insulation on the stack pipe for the bathroom but was not listed on work order, and was not done, and (2) one of their 3 workers (one of whom was quite large and heavy set) damaged my wooden pull down ladder to the attic. When I called sales to complain, they came out & wrapped insulation BUT on the WRONG stack pipe! The laundry room, instead of the bathroom! As for the ladder, they said they'd need "owner's permission" to repair and/or replace. Then one of the workers called and said he couldn't find any wooden pull-down ladders and, if I'd buy one, they'd install it. Two things wrong with that: (1) Home Depot has them for $108 but why should I incur any expense for damage they did?? and (2) What would insulation installers know about carpentry?? That's like having your plumber do brain surgery!! After numerous voicemails to Doug & the salesman, Doug finally called and came up with a barrage of excuses & allegations: that the ladder had "dry rot", that the bottom legs were all splintered, that I told his crew the ladder was "unsafe" - ALL UNTRUE!! Then he suggested that I remove the ladder and take it somewhere (like Home Depot) to have it inspected (with him present) - a preposterous suggestion! Then he came up wtih same proposal as from the installer, which I reject for same 2 reasons above.
Description of Work: Blown-in Insulation (on top of existing) plus put baffles in rafters. Also put in extra layer of insulation in soffits over two bathrooms. Relocated bathrooom exhaust fan hose to a vent cap in roof.

they did the job quickly and well. they didn't have a long enough hose at first but solved that and still got in and out in one day. they could have been a little more careful with keeping their mess under control....a little scraping of the woodwork. lost my down payment check at first but found then and didn't let that hold them up. they're decent people.

It took us 1.5 years to decide what type of insulation to have put in our house and to figure out what company to go with. We are happy we went with North Coast and with fiberglass. Jim was personable and responded to our concerns timely. We had a lot of questions. Work was scheduled pretty quickly. The process took one long day. We already had large openings into the eves but they had to put one opening into the peak of the large attic and an exerior opening into the small attic, which is over an office and sunroom. The workers worked hard - with insulation, it is hard to know what you are actually getting but I do believe that they put in the amount of insulation they had promised. There were 2 issues - the siding was damaged when they put the insulation in the smaller attic. Also, the next day was very windy and some of the insulation blew out of place, mainly because we had not yet covered the openings (we later did so with plywood doors) and the insulation was not stapled properly at the openings. North Coast promptly fixed these issues, though. They even had to order special siding to match the type we had. Almost immediately, we felt a difference in our house, which did not have any insulation before this. It is much warmer, especially on the 2nd and 3rd floors. And then the heating bill came. We saved over 60% in January as compared to a year ago. And the average temperature was the same last year. So, with the tax credit, the immediate savings in our gas bill ($300 in one month!), and the increased comfort in our house, this was an investment that will pay for itself before too long.
Description of Work: Insulated 2 attics with blown-in fiberglass, fiberglass sheets, and solarguard. Added ventilation. Also vented a bathroom fan to the outside of the house. House is circa 1922.

Overall the experience was great, and I would recommend them to others. They came to provide an estimate within 4 days of my call, and were able to come out and do the work the following week. The crew was in and out in one day, arrived on time, and cleaned up very thoroughly (the only evidence of their having done work was a puff of pink insulation caught on a windowblind.) I am not an expert on the process of insulating old homes, but I can't imagine it being more hassle-free. My house is warmer, nothing is broken, and it all happened within a couple weeks of me placing the call. I don't really have any cost comparisons with other companies, but I'm satisfied with the results.
Description of Work: I had the attic space of my 1920's house insulated. North Coast installed a combination of faced batt fiberglass insulation and loose blown fiberglass insulation. They treated all areas of the attic including knee walls and eaves, slopes, etc The contact person at North Coast was Mr. Jim Myers.

Doug came when he said he would and reviewed our situation (upstairs bedrooms at one end of the house too warm in summer and too cold in winter, despite having two furnaces and two air conditioning units in house). He recommended adding solar fans on the roof that would cool the attic space, with no costs to run (eligible for an energy tax credit as a bonus!), and cut down on our energy costs, as well as adding insulation in the attic above the bedrooms and in the basement crawl space. His workers came when they said they would and completed the job in one day. They cleaned up after they left. We have noticed an appreciable improvement in the temperature in those areas. It's too soon to tally the energy costs, but it seems logical that there will be some. We were very happy with the work done!
Description of Work: Installation of several solar attic fans and additional insulation in attic and basement crawl space.
