Glass Doctor of Cleveland

After hiring the Glass Doctor there were some issues with the custom glass shower door I ordered, but as of today I'm happy to say that everything has now been resolved and I'm very satisfied with the final outcome. I have updated my Angie's List ratings to reflect my satisfaction with the company. The first glass door was measured wrong and needed re-ordered. The 2nd glass door fit, but the shower guard material was on the wrong side of the door. The 3rd glass door was the exact same as the 2nd unfortunately. The 4th and final glass door ended up perfect. Unfortunately since this was a custom door, it did take 3 weeks in between each door fitting, so it took awhile to get the door (ordered right after Memorial weekend and the final door was installed right before Labor Day). At the end of the day Glass Doctor's did give me a fair discount for the issues experienced with re-ordering the doors. I thank the Glass Doctor's for giving me a quality product and appreciate that they recognized the inconveniences caused from re-ordering multiple doors. The team who installed all 4 doors was very pleasant and professional. All around a great company and quality products.

In brief, DO NOT use Glass Doctor of Northeast Ohio for mobile auto windshield replacement. I required 3 quotes for broken windshield replacement for reimbursement purposes. A timely replacement and the ability to provide service at home or within short driving distance were important selection factors for me. I spoke with Felicia at Glass Doctor on Carnegie Avenue on 6/19/13 . She provided a verbal quote of $387.18 (tax included) to replace the windshield with rain sensor and told me that mobile service could be provided at no extra charge that same day. I informed her that I needed the quote in writing and she said she could email the quote. After checking with two other service providers, who were either far away, more expensive or could not provide mobile service until Friday, I decided to select this service provider (Glass Doctor of Northeast Ohio). Unfortunately, I did not call to check with my local insurance agent that day (who specifically stated that other clients of his have had problems with the Glass Doctor). I had not yet received the emailed quote when I called back to schedule service about an hour later, Felicia told me that she had forwarded the request for paper quote to dispatch who would email the quote because she was unable to email it herself. Ultimately, I never received the quote. She took my information and said a technician would call 30 minutes before arriving. I received a call about 15 minutes later from someone in dispatch telling me that they would have to order the windshield and would not be able to install the windshield until Friday. At this point, I now wish I had opted to have the car towed to one of the more distant service centers. Later that day, my husband received a call that they would be coming out on Thursday, 6/20/13, after all. He worked from home today in order to provide access to the vehicle, and the technician arrived at about 10:20am. The technician was friendly and acted in a professional manner. He was also able to answer my questions over the phone. However, my husband was on a conference call and did not inspect the technician's work before paying him (while still on the conference call). The technician left the residence at around 11:15am. The bill for the service was higher than the quote at $504.55. It would appear that the practice of this company is to exclude labor charges when making their telephone quotes. When my husband completed the call and was able to inspect the work, it was not acceptable. There is a chip on the upper passenger corner of the windshield and the gasket is not in place and sticks out from the body of the car. He witnessed the technician shaking glass from the floor mat onto the driveway but assumed the technician would be vacuuming this up, but it is now apparent that he did not remove the glass fragments from the driveway. I called the company back and my first interaction with with Greg in Dispatch. Greg was not very helpful or understanding and had a very rude telephone manner. He said that he would contact the technician and "look into it," but did not call back with any resolution. At this point, I still was hoping for a resolution on the same day. I called back about 1 hour later for an update and at that point spoke with David in Dispatch. David was more helpful, but not able to resolve the situation to my satisfaction. He initially told me that he could have someone come look at it on Saturday, but after further discussion agreed to send someone out on Friday to inspect the window and possibly fix the gasket. However, he refused to send anyone out today. He also notified me that if the windshield requires replacement it will be necessary to wait until late next week for the urethane adhesive to cure before this can be done. We are displeased with the quality of the repair and the need for follow-up service (the quality and degree of which is yet to be determined- it appears that the windshield was chipped while trying to force the gasket into place), the lack of proper clean-up leaving glass in the driveway, the poor customer "service," the lack of a written quote, the inaccuracy of the verbal quote and general rudeness of the employees once the problems were identified. I cannot recommend this company under any circumstances for auto glass repair. They may be fine for other services, but given my customer service experience to date I would not give them the opportunity.

It went great. The installer called before he arrived, was punctual and efficient. I even got a great can of Glass Doctor glass cleaner.

Needed my front windshield replaced. They were able to fix the same day for a reasonable price. They arrived on time and completed the replacement quickly. No issues or problems with my experience with them.

Very professional and careful of a tight working area. Set up the scaffolding being careful of the walls which were just painted. Completed the job on time. Would recommend to anyone.

It went very well. They replaced everything with a very high quality glass. I loved the installer Mary. She was very great and knowledgable,very conscientious about her work.

I found no shortage of well rated auto glass replacement vendors on Angie?s list. I called this firm based on the many positive reviews. I had only one negative comment. Their phone hold message quality is more important than price. They mentioned that they used ?OEM grade? material. This is meaningless fluff term. Auto glass has to meet SAE and DOT standards. Look at your windshield and you will find the standards etched in the corner of the glass. My immediate reaction was hold on to your wallet, that price is going to be high. The implied threat is that anyone with a lower price will be offering substandard material. It took a couple minutes to get through but when I did the same phrase was repeated verbally. I gave them my make and model which elicited a price of $330. Their advertising touted an Angie?s List discount so I mentioned Angie? no reaction. They then asked for my commitment and I told that that I was shopping around but would call back by the end of the day. The woman on the line asked if I would commit for a discount. When I asked how much, she offered me a price of $270, a $50 drop. I really did not want to spend time trying to get another few bucks off so I said OK. That marketing nonsense aside the actual job was done very professionally. They called back to confirm the details and the service tech called when he was leaving the previous job. He knew what he was doing and when asked told me that he had 16 years? experience installing glass all for this company. I am a tech guy (PE) and the technician was happy to explain what he was doing and why as he worked. His work was an A effort. My B rating comes from their trash talking their competition and not offering the advertised discount openly.

They were prompt, answered my questions, and installed the new windows neatly and professionally.

On Thursday, February 7th I contacted my insurance agency regarding a crack in my windshield. Their online processing third party gave me a list of choices. I checked Angies' List and found this one which was highly rated so I thought I was in good hands. The system allowed me to pick an appointment time and the company would call me to confirm or reschedule if necessary. I didn't receive a call after a few hours so I called and they confirmed I was scheduled from 12-3pm on Friday February 8th. Because of the snow and rain and the inability to have covered parking at work, I scheduled it at my house because it could be done in my garage. I took a half day of vacation and waited for the technician to arrive. I waited..and waited..and waited..until 2:50 pm when I called to find out what was going on. The very polite person contacted the dispatcher who said the technician was running late on another job and I was next in the line. Cool, no problem. So I wait. And wait. And wait..and wait. I call at 4:55 and talk to the dispatcher who says she will need to call the technician and will have the technician call me. Ok cool, no problem. Thanks very much! And I wait. And wait. And wait. 5:30 pm I call again and get the national customer service line. They are very polite and tell me they will have to call the technician and have that person call me and let me know when he will arrive. (ok did we not just do that?). And I wait. and wait. And 5:50 I call back and talk to another national customer service person who starts to tell me the same thing. After hours and hours and hours and hours of patience I finally said just cancel the order and I'll go with a competitor...which is exactly what I am doing. How can no one tell me what is going on and leave me waiting for hours and hours and waste an entire half day of vacation for nothing? Everyone I spoke to was very nice, but seriously how can no one tell me what is going on? And why did no one volunteer to call me back themselves after talking to the technician? Did anyone even get a hold of the technician? Grading was difficult for this because most of them were professional and they tried to be responsive (I think), but whoah baby that was crazy. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt but I was patient for way too long.

I was able to make a next day appointment to have a chip in the windshield of my Jeep Liberty. The appointment took about 45 minutes and I was able to wait in the comfortable waiting room. The work was professional and punctual.

we had a broken seal in our front picture window. Got several estimates which varied wildly. Some companies said we had to replace the entire window which costs $3,000 - 4,000 . Some said we just needed to replace the glass where we got estimates from $550-$750. We decided to give Glass Doctor a try. They gave us an estimate of about $700 which included a lifetime warranty that is transferable when we sell the house. I called for an estimate and someone came out that same day. They seemed very knowledgable about this type of work and told us about how long it would take to order replacement glass and what to expect during installation. They said that there would be some touch up paint work needed by me after install. They said it would be 1-2 weeks to get the window in. I called after two weeks and the person I spoke with said there was some delay due to storm Sandy. A couple days later they called to schedule install. Install was the day after Thanksgiving so it made me a little nervous about who would get the job and whether they would be on time. Two technicians showed up on time and did the work in just under 2 hours : they had estimated two hours for completion. The job was excellent and the touch up painting required is much less than I thought. they left absolutely no mess. The window looks great. Overall this has been one of the best experiences we've had with contracted work around the house.

I called glass doctor and they set up an appointment for the technician to come out and give me an estimate. He arrived promptly and explained in detail what he would do and how much it would cost. He told me he would come back out and do the job within the week. A few days later he called to set up a time. He arrived right on time, did a really good job and was very professional. He even put cardboard down on my hardwood floors to protect them.

Micheal and Mike showed up promptly on the scheduled date. The setup in the driveway and started work. They were very careful as they walked in the house. The were efficient, and it still took them all day as there were so many windows. They cleaned up as they went along and made sure everything was operational. Absolutely, would recommend them again!

The Tech was great. Explained everything and made sure I understood the wait time limits for car wash, driving and what to do if there were any problems. Customer Service was fantastic. I believe the CSR's name was Kala(?) and she was wonderful. Even contacted my Insurance Company via a 3rd party call with me and got the claim filed when I called in for the service appointment.

Glass Doctors was great. They were wonderful to deal with on the phone and were the first to come out to give me an estimate - prompt and professional. Unfortunately they were over twice the price of the other estimates. I would certainly consider them for another job, but DEFINITELY get an estimate and compare. I don't know if it was just this job or if all their prices run high.

I chose Glass Doctor of Cleveland because they had one of the lowest prices of the places I called and I felt the most comfortable with them when I talked to them on the phone. They came right on time on the day of the appointment. They originally brought the wrong windshield and the tech left, picked up the correct windshield, and was back at our house within a half an hour. Within 2 hours the new windshield was installed, sealed, and ready to go. He was very clean and professional. He was very courteous and apologetic about the mix up on the windshield.

The person in the customer service office where you call in assumed I would need a windshield replacement, $394.94. When I asked about repair, she said the dings would have to be less than a quarter in size. I told her they were. She said that would cost $79 for the first one and $30 for the second. She said she couldn't send out a technician to just repair and have a windshield with him just in case. She said a technician would have to call me or I could drive all the way to Cleveland to have them look at it. I asked her about an Akron location since that was the number I called. There is none. We left it that she would have a technician call me, but no one ever did.

I got them from Angie’s List and they were excellent. I would score them high across the board and I would use them again in the future.

They replaced 40 year old wing and picture windows with sealed dual pane glass. Great job! Would definitely use them again.

Installer showed up in my drive way on time and replaced the windshield in about 30 minutes. Excellent job, no complaints.

The result has been excellent, the best outcome one could hope for - a replacement windshield that does not leak or make noise. But the process was not without a bump along the way. I called several auto windshield replacement companies found in the phone book. Each person I spoke with I asked about price, specifically the price for OEM glass, not aftermarket manufactured glass. While Glass Doctor was not the absolute lowest price, the reviews on Angie's List swayed me in their favor. I spoke with three different Glass Doctor operators during my search as well as setting up the appointment for the tech to come to my home. I asked all three operators specifically for the cost of OEM replacement glass, emphasizing not aftermarket glass, and repeated the question at the end of the conversation to verify the price was for OEM glass. The first two of the operators did not hesitate when asked that I would get OEM glass for the quoted price. The final third operator I spoke with hedged in their answer, so I asked again - twice - to make sure what I would get would be OEM glass, which the final answer was it would be OEM glass. The day of my installation, the Tech, Calvin, arrived a little later than expected, but I understand not every job runs as expected and may need more time than allotted. His personality and professionalism were superb and he was as good a representative of the company as owner could hope for. Unfortunately, he had aftermarket glass instead of OEM per his requisition. The price I had been quoted was actually for aftermarket glass - despite multiple verifications by three different operators! A phone call to his manager John resolved the issue by the next day. The manager John said the job would be done with OEM glass for the price I had been told - honorable and proper customer service. The technician Calvin returned the follow week or so and installed the new OEM glass windshield. Calvin's skill in performing his job matched his professionalism and personality. Outstanding. While the experience with the operators is a warning to all that call for a quote on work, the customer service and quality work performed by the manager John and the technician Calvin, as well as the flawless fit and function of the windshield, resulted in a great experience overall. I would use Glass Doctor again and am comfortable recommending Glass Doctor to others.
