After arranging the visit, I decided to inspect the area closely. It took me all of a minute to see that the two compressor motors were humming along but VERY hot and that the fan motor was not running because the power wire was left unplugged by the last CAS technician. I reconnected that power wire and now the unit is cooling off. Now I worry that the extreme heat may have shortened the life span of seriously expensive parts. I don't know whether the state of my Sub-Zero was due to sabotage or negligence, but I'll cancel my appointment for Monday and see to it that this company gets no more of my business.
Description of Work: I've used them over the years to do preventative maintenance on our Sub-Zero refridgerator - basically to clean the coils and inspect the motors, fan, compressors. The last couple of annual visits left me suspicious because after the job things just didn't look that much cleaner or different. Since this last visit, I didn't inspect the work carefully (too busy) but I noticed that the surface area around the doors (freezer and refridgerator) were getting increasingly hot over time. The freezer and refridgerator were still cold, plus I heard "motors" running so I assumed that was functioning properly. Mystery. Today the surface area was too hot to touch so I called CAS. Their service triage person advised that they might make it out on Monday and that the cost of just the service call will be $89 (that it, it will start from there).

The member is wrong in assuming we disconnected the wire while we did the condenser cleaning. This is a dual compressor system and the condenser fan motor cools both compressors. If we had inadvertently disconnected the fan motor the temperatures would not have been right, which he said they were. I believe the wire may have became disconnected from vibration. It certainly could not have lasted two months. The original call was done on 5-7-09 and he did not call in on the Sub-Zero again until 7-31-09. I talked to John at Sub-Zero and he said he too doubted that the unit could work properly for two months if the fan motor was not running. When we do the condenser cleaning every year, as the member has done, the dirt that needs to cleaned is less compared to a unit that did not have the condenser cleaned for years. Sub-zero recommends the condenser be cleaned twice a year. We feel once a year is usually adequate and we send out a letter once a year to remind customers that we are running our condenser cleaning special in the spring before the heat of summer is upon us. I am sorry the wire came unplugged. When we do condenser cleanings we pull the power plug to the refrigerator. The work we do is on the condenser is located on the far right side of the unit and the fan motor is located in the middle of the unit. There is not any need to disconnect the cord of the fan motor and the motor plugs in between the compressors. I think it was just bad luck that the wire came loose but I do not think we caused the problem by our negligence. We warranty our work for thirty days which is the industry standard. An appliance like a refrigerator works twenty four hours a day. If the repair is not done properly the unit will not work correctly for almost two months. One last note. The member called for the original service at 10:59 am on 5-4-09 and he was scheduled for 5-7 at his request. He called again on 7-31-09 at 5:09pm, which was a Friday and he was scheduled for the next working day 8-3-09. I am truly he had the problem but i just do not think we were the cause.

Our Washer quit working. I called CAS and will admit that they reponded quickly, a technician arrived the next day. They even called first about a half hour prior to arrival. When I talked to the technician he told me the problem was one of two sensors based on the code generated, and even told me the price ($250) it would be before he made it to the machine. He took the back cover off, said, yep, that is the problem, and spent about 15 min making the repair. I even helped holding the drum so he could get down faster. I looked at the work order and it listed two sensors: one $25, and the other $141. I figured it had to be the $141 with the quoted price. I was shocked after paying the bill to find that the expensive sensor had been crossed off, and the total charge was 15 minutes of work to replace a $25 sensor. Calculating the labor to replace the sensor, it works out to approximately $300.00 per hour. When I called to complain, I was told that I was overcharged by $30, which the company has since refunded. They also reminded me that the technician was "onsite" for a total of 30 min. Even with those numbers, the labor rate is excessive in my opinion. I did ask to hear the response as to why I was over charged, and after asking several times I finally received a call back stating the the technician accidently entered the wrong code. I guess what really bothers me is that the first time I had used this company, I was given the impression that the $80 service call included some time onsite. To me, charging $80 to just show up, then another $100 to do 15 minutes of work is excessive.

The member is mostly correct in his synopsis of this call. Our technician did use the wrong code when billed out the call and we corrected the incorrect billing. We also brought to the technician's attention to be scrupulous in using our code book. the job did take 30 minutes rather the 15 minutes. The technician who did the repair is a 30 year veteran. He does in 30 minutes what a normal mortal would do in 60 minutes. this is why we use a flat rate for jobs. The $300 per hour claim is incorrect. We charge a service call to cover our travel time to a call. Thus, the 30 minute on the job time does not count the travel time to the job. The $300 does not take into account all the repairs that require two or three trips to do. The member lumps the service call charge with the labor charge to come up with $300 per hour. It is a shortsighted way of looking at the cost of service. If every call went as smoothly as his we would not have to charge what we do. I guess you could say the easy jobs turn out to be more expensive than the difficult ones. However, we have to average things out just like doctors do for the procedures they perform. Otherwise, we would be spending all our time trying to adjust our rates rather than providing service.

I got a call from the technician on Tuesday morning telling me that they had a cancellation and they wanted to come earlier at around 12:30 PM. I told him that would not work we need to stick with the original plan. I got the impression he seemed to think I would have been happy with the earlier time. I told him I'm at work and I car pool so leaving earlier than planned is not an option. I got a second call at about 1:45 PM telling me that the technician is running way behind and they would not be able to make the appointment today. They offered to come on Wednesday June 24 at 8:00 AM I initially accepted, but when I told my husband of the change he was not happy and called back. He spoke to Pat the service manager who explained that they had several jobs that took longer than expected and they could not come. My husband told them he did not care about the other service calls only our appointment. Pat then told him to take his business elsewhere and hung up on him. We have also contacted Maytag about our poor treatment by Complete Appliance.
Description of Work: We had called on Monday June 22, 2009 and scheduled a service call for our Maytag Neptune washer for Tuesday June 23, 2009 late afternoon. A technician called later on Monday to get more information about the problem so he would be prepared for the visit the next day. Having the appointment on Tuesday late in the afternoon was very important because my husband and I work together so we have to make up the hours that we leave early and we had already scheduled another delivery for Tuesday afternoon.

We had to make a choice between catching a customer who had a no cool refrigerator and the member with a growling Neptune washer. We did our best to work around their time request but they were not sympathetic to the customer with the no cool refrigerator so we made a value judgment to fix the refrigerator. The members were difficult to deal with so we chose to put our skills to help someone else.

I ended up canceling my rescheduled appointment and calling another company that I found on Angie's List. They came out and assessed the problem, and their service call was $20 cheaper than Complete Appliance's were. When that guy realized that I needed a new machine, he told me he would do the repair, but he would recommend just buying a new machine. He did not charge me for the service call. I did end up buying a new machine...and Complete Appliance has lost both my business and my mother's. They did not handle this situation well at all.
Description of Work: This company was recommended to me by my mother, who has used them to fix appliances for over 20 years. I called and they were able to set up an appointment for me to have my washing machine fixed the next day. I asked if I could have an appointment in the morning but they only had an afternoon availability. Fine. We set up the appointment and I scheduled other appointments for the morning - outside of my home. My window for their arrival was between 1:30 and 3:00. I arrived home at 1pm to find that I had 2 voice mail messages - one at about 12:25 and another at 12:50. The first asked if they could come earlier because their repair man finished his previous job. The second rather rudely told me that their repair man would be going on to another job because I was not home, and they would try to get to me. I called them back when I got home to see what was going on. There were some other issues with the message, but, aside from that, they were going to try to get to me by 3pm. At 3:15, I had not heard anything from them, so I called back to find out what was going on. At that point, I rescheduled for the next day, because I had to leave at 4pm and it was clear that they weren't going to make it to my house before I left. After thinking about it, I was not happy with the way that the whole situation was handled. I asked for a morning appointment, wasn't able to get one, then they tried to come in the morning anyhow when we had set up an afternoon time. They suggested 1:30, not me. Had I known 12:30 might be a possibility, I would have made a point to schedule my morning differently. However, I was not given that option, then, when I was not available earlier, my appointment was skipped over and they didn't bother to try to accommodate me, given that THEY set the schedule up, and THEY made the timing misjudgment.

The time requests are a challenge in this business. We hit 90% of time request in spite of the fact that we cannot control job time nor can we control travel time to the minute. If the members found someone who can afford to go out on a service call for less than us and then not charge them because a new machine was in order then more power to them. However, I feel sorry for all the other customers who that company services. If he does not charge one customer then he has to charge someone else to make up for not charging the members. There are no free lunches. Simple service calls require 45 to 60 minutes between travel time and the in home inspection. It is hard to do more than 8 or 9 in one day. How can a company give up 12% of its day and expect to stay in business?

This lady is on our do not service list. She was verbally abusive to the technician who came to her home as well as the office. We were going to do the work under a contract we have with a third party warranty company so she was not going to be charged for the repair. I do not understand her dishonesty comment. She is vituperative and we are happy to have her take her business elsewhere. We did not do a repair but we did do a partial diagnosis. We have a note in the computer not to service her ever.

On Wednesday morning I called and the part never made it in from Columbus. I did take a half day of work off and lost wages. I felt like they were doing a disservice to me by diagnosing the problem over the phone and never coming out to take a look at the refrigerator to see what the problem as. On Thursday, a repairman came out and said that was not the problem after looking at the refrigerator. He said they will order the part and they will be out on Saturday to install the part. The service man and the department differed on the issue which then caused me to again wait for a part to be ordered. I called the home improvement store and they sent another company out on Friday and it was not the original problem that Complete Appliance Service Co. had thought. I am still waiting on the other company to come out and install a part. It was the refrigerator control that was bad, a far cry from a motor that Complete Appliance Service had stated. I would not recommend this company. Thumbs down. Update: Another company came out and fixed the problem without any questions. He knew refrigeration unlike In Competent In Complete Appliance. This is what Angie's List is all about. You'll notice NOTCOMPLETE Appliance responses are capital characters,,,Yelling? They seem to feel they are the only repair techs. Description of Work: I have a 2 year old Whirlpool side by side. I bought a 4 year extended warranty from the home improvement store. During Easter weekend everything froze on both sides, water line, ice maker and everything. I called the home improvement store and they recommended I call Complete Appliance. On Monday morning I spoke to the appliance dept. and Pat asked what was wrong and he said they diagnose everything over the phone and then we order the parts. They will be out Wednesday since the part was ordered from Columbus and it was diagnosed as a fan evaporator motor.

We didn t close the refrigerator door properly over the years, so a blockage developed in the freezer compartment. They gave some ideas over the phone about what it might be. They mentioned about warranty. They came in and said it was only a blockage. They got it fixed, and it has been fine ever since. They came when they said they would come. They did what they said they would do.

They worked around my schedule and made a Saturday service call. I received a reminder telephone call the day before and told me the time period to expect them. They called me to tell me that they would be able to come earlier than expected. The service technician was very professional, and my total cost was lower than the estimate. I was a little surprised that they left the old display for me to discard. All in all, I will recommend Complete Appliance to my friends and family. It is nice to work with a company that lives up to their guarantees and promises.

Complete disaster. The first time the tech brought the inside glass rather than the outside plastic. The second time the tech brought a plastic piece, but it was flat, rather than curved, and did not fit my washer. He discovered this after he removed the door from the washer. The third time the tech brought the proper piece. He removed the door from the washer and the plastic window before he found that the piece he brought was scratched more than the piece he was replacing. He damaged the surround for the door when he dismantled the door. The fourth time the tech, who was late, brought a new surround, which was dimpled and another scratched plastic window. Complete Appliance refused to replace the parts unless I came to their facility to check out the pieces ahead of time. The individual I spoke with said he'd not object to his car being scratched, as things get scratched, and said all the surrounds were dimpled from the mold. I told him the one on my door was not dimpled.

They said, they would fix the dryer, but never fixed it. They were going to come and fix our washer, but, they never showed up. They said, they could set a new appointment for a week later, but finally agreed to come out, that Friday. When they fixed our washer, they forgot to tighten the water hoses and flooded our basement. We have to deal with the home owner insurance regarding this matter now and Complete Appliance Service, said it was our fault. They are incompetent and unprofessional.

I do not understand why he is complaining. First, we were not subcontracted by another company unless he means that LG did not do the work itself and that we are not LG. We are an authorized LG service station but we not LG. Secondly, the call came into our office at 3:14pm on February 28th. We completed the call on March 5th, which was within three working days of receiving the call. I totllay fail to see why he complained. The repair was done in one trip and no further problem was reportedd.

This company was recommended by U-Line as a certified repair company. I had a small U-line bar refridgerator which turned out to need a new "cold control". I was told at the time of making the appointment that there was a $95.95 service charge to come out and additional charges for parts and labor. The service person was slightly late and not very friendly. He determined the control needed to be replaced and the total charge would be $370.00!! The part was $60.00 and the install price was an additional $195.00 flat on top of the $96.00 for the call. I explained that I was under the impression from setting up the appointment that I would pay for additional parts and any additional labor but the initial $96 would be calculated into that. I then called the service manager and told him that the policy was not well communicated and that I thought these charges were somewhat inflated to provide a 30 min. install on a $60.00 part. No satisfaction and I sent the service man packing.

WE DO OUR VERY BEST TO EXPLAIN THE RATES. WE ARE CAREFUL TO EXPLAIN THAT THE SERVICE IS ONE COST AND THAT LABOR TO DO THE WORK IS ABOVE AND BEYOND THE SERVICE CALL. WE DO NOT IMPLY THAT THE SERVICE CALL WILL BE FORGIVEN IF THE WORK IS DONE. THE UNIT IN QUESTION HAS TO TO BE REMOVED FOR THE CONTROL TO BE INSTALLED. IT IS NOT AS EASY OF A REPAIR AS IT SOUNDS. OUR PRICE ALSO DEPENDS UPON WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO THE REPAIR. UNDER COUNTER UNITS REQUIRE MORE WORK TO REPAIR THAN A FREE STANDING, EASILY ACCESSED UNIT. I THINK PART OF THE PROBLEM IS HOW A CUSTOMER RECEIVES OUR COMMUNICATION ON RATES. WE TRY OUR BEST TO CLEARLY STATE HOW WE CHARGE SO WE CAN AVOID THIS TYPE OF SITUATION. I WOULD RATHER HAVE A CUSTOMER CALL ANOTHER COMPANY THAN HAVE THEM FEEL LIKE WE TRIED TO BILK THEM. I AM SORRY THIS HAPPENED TO HIM AND I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT HE HAD THE DECENCY TO PAY OUR SERVICE CHARGE IN SPITE OF HIS DISCONTENT.

They ordered the bolts (over $30!) and then charged for travel time (around $85!) and analysis (over $65!) - all just for 4 bolts. Unfortunately, the repair needed to be done and I would have had to pay $85 just for the visit. It took a week to schedule. Also, I hired this company because they said that they had expertise with Whirlpool Duets, but when the repair man came to the house, he spent a lot of time on his cell phone asking someone else questions about the machine. I was disappointed and called the manager, who was responsive and professional.
Description of Work: Added bolts to washer and dryer.

Member was charged our normal rate for doing the repair. The bolts had to be special ordered since they are not a failure that occurs unless someone like a mover screws up an installation. Member is still usin us today, five years later.

There was a dead chipmunk in my drier vent and they removed it and deodorized they area. They disinfected everything in my drier. I ran some wet towels through the drier and that helped remove the smell.

I was generally pleased with the work. The company misunderstood the problem with the refrigerator. They brought out the wrong part the first time, but they quickly ordered the correct part and scheduled the second appointment at my convenience. The technician was knowledgable, thorough and worked quickly.
