Absolutely no problems. Gary was on time, did his work, cleaned up and suffered my barrage of questions. I will use his services again.

They did fine work. We have used several chimney services, he was on time, very clean (we have white carpeting). He was very careful.

Gary Spolar responded quickly to my phone call, told me the cost, that there was no additional charge for labor, all was included in the price of the caps. They came at the time they said they would and completed the work efficiently.

Gary and his assistant arrived promptly and took the time to give my Labrador retriever, Mysti, the greeting she desired lots of hugs and petting. They proceeded to inspect and clean my chimney/fireplace and gave me a review of its overall condition. They said the my cap was showing signs of rust and that eventually I should replace it to avoid water damage. Gary gave me the name of a person who does custom stainless steel caps that will never rust. They cleaned up extremely well and we spoke of the virtues of Angie's List. Gary said his Angie's List customers are his favorite customers because we are educated customers.

Showed up on time, worked quickly, very interested in answering any questions I had. Gary gave tips in how to open and close damper which if done incorrectly can damage the damper. Repaired a small section of chimney liner with a special caulk. The existing chimney cap was rusting and causing stains along side of chimney. Had it replaced with a stainless steel cap for $90 which seems like a good price especially since it included installation.

Contacted Gary on Tuesday and got his voicemail. Called back very promptly within 15 minutes. Gary told me the possible options, with prices, and scheduled an appointment. Gary called back the evening before to confirm the appointment and arrived promptly (within 10 minutes of scheduled time). After inspecting the damper, Gary determined that the existing damper was okay and did not necessarily need to be replaced, unless I wanted to replace it. He proceeded to complete the inspection and found another problem with my chimney. Gary provided me with a recommendation for a contractor to repair the problem. He did not try to sell me on a new damper, even though he could have. Very pleased with the job - will hire again in the future.

I have had Gary clean my chimney for several years. He is always prompt or calls if he can't be on time. I am usually able to reach him the first time I call; if not, he calls back within a short time. He did a good job on the chimney cleaning this time, as usual. I had a question about the top of the chimney; I wanted him to check it because I had dampness and water coming in the basement wall below where the chimney is. I thought maybe something was cracked on the top of the chimney, letting water in. He said no, because if water was coming down inside the chimney (which he said is not likely to happen), he would have seen evidence while cleaning, and he did not. So there was no need to pay him for checking the top of the chimney. I also asked him about some brickwork on the foundation of my front porch but he said that was beyond the scope of the equipment he has for repairing bricks or tuck pointing. It's good that he was honest about this. He also gave me an Angie's List discount.

Gary returned my initial voice mail message within 20 minutes. Over the phone he quoted $69 for inspection, $98 total if he also cleaned the chimney. He was able to come out the next week. The day of he called ahead and said he could come a half-hour earlier if that was alright. He was polite, friendly, and professional. He was not pushy when I declined the chimney caps for now. I asked him about a suspiciously large square of drywall above the fireplace that was coming loose. He said he would need to do a "level 3" inspection and take the drywall out to see what was going on there, but that it looked ok from the inside. His service report listed that the "furnace liner is exposed to smoke chamber" (but told me half the homes he sees do and it wasn't really a problem) and the "wood mantle is too close to the fireplace opening." He also answered other questions I had about how to clean the concrete skirt (not worth trying) and availability of a baby-proof cover (very expensive.)

Gary showed up on time and took about 15 minutes to complete the job of capping off two chimneys. He was very friendly and professional.

After hearing an animal in my chimney, I realized I needed my chimneys capped. I called Century Chimney and was quoted $237 for 3 caps, assuming I needed one for each chimney plus my furnace vent. He came by 2 days later and in 10 minutes, had the caps installed. It was the most painless process ever, AND, as it turned out, I only need 2, not 3 caps!

Gary Spolar and his colleague were among the very best contractors with whom I have dealt. They were knowledgeable, efficient and polite in performing their services and the quality of their work seems to be first-rate. Moreover, they arrived when they said they would (actually, a few minutes early - almost unheard of these days). Gary did not try to sell me services that I didn't want or need and he made excellent recommendations on contractors who could perform some unique masonry and damper work that he could not do. Gary's price was a little high, but the quality and efficiency of his and his colleague's work more than made up for it. I will definitely use Gary and his company again.

He did a neat and thorough job, and protected the floors while he worked. Was reasonably priced compared to the competition, though I thought the caps were expensive.

Gary returned our call immediately and we scheduled an appointment a few weeks out. The day before the scheduled appointment, Gary called to confirm the time he would be at our house. He arrived promptly and got straight to work. He was very professional, polite and friendly. I felt totally comfortable with having him in my home. After he had done a thorough inspection, inside and out he informed me about the condition of the chimney, the damper and the caps. He said that the chimney didn't need to be swept and told me about the options for fixing the damper and caps. I did not feel any pressure from him to have the work done. In the end he fixed the damper and left us with information about the other work to be done, he did not charge us anything for the visit. There is no doubt in my mind that I will continue to use Century Chimney and highly recommend this company to anyone in need of chimney work. It would be a mistake to use any other company! A+

It went excellent. They arrived in a timely manner and got right to work. It took approximately 20 minutes or so to inspect the chimney both from below and up on the roof. He then clearly explained the results. He recommended a smoke guard to take care of the problem I had with smoke backing up into the house, which he guaranteed, saying he would buy it back from me if I wasn't happy with it. I had him install the smoke guard which cost $95. I paid the man and he left.

Returned my phone call very promptly, and arrived exactly when they said they would. Cleaned and inspected chimney and fireplace thoroughly, quickly, and left no mess. Very pleasant to deal with!

He was great. He arrived on time, told us exactly what he was doing and reported on the cleanliness of our chimney. He seemed very honest, especially since our chimney hadn't been cleaned in over 10 years. He was friendly, and also very nice to our children. He was perhaps the best repair person we've ever encountered.

Another gem of a find on Angie's List. Gary called the day before to confirm appointment, arrived on time, was very professional, and VERY honest. The chimney needed no cleaning or work at this time. I said we would call next year for inspection. Gary indicated that since we use the fireplace on a few times a year, we might wait two years until we call again. This is a businessman you can trust!

Gary was reasonably priced and very prompt, very through. He was very professional and takes good care and pride in what he does. He's honest and kind, which was a breath of fresh air. When he said over the phone that the only thing that would get dirty was him, he was right on about that too. My taupe carpet was not dirty or damaged when he finished. I trusted that comment and he didn't let me down. I will call him again for all my future Chimney and Fireplace needs. I highly recommend you do too.

Excellent work. Gary was very prompt, and did not perform unnecessary work just for the extra charge. He explained everything he did very thoroughly, and even took our old, rusting TV antenna down for free.
