Gary and his partner were very prompt and called to confirm the appointment prior to arriving. Gary assessed the fireplace and flue and gave recommendations. They also installed a chimney cap and were on their way in 30 minutes. Very professional. I would recommend them to any one.

We chose Century Chimney because of the excellent Angie/BB ratings. Very prompt service and the most impressive part---the honesty! We have never had a fireplace so we had no idea what we might be up against. Gary's honesty in telling us that we didn't need a cleaning was amazing. We greatly appreciate his honesty and the helpful hints he gave us. We're still amazed--we made it very clear that we were clueless about our fireplace and he was totally honest with us--very impressive!!! Will recommend to family and friends...and call again!

Century Chimney matched the material correctly and also put a sealant over the whole thing! He was responsive and did a good job.

We were attracted by the angie's list coupon despite the fact that we have not used this chimney sweep previously. They were polite and timely upon arrival and tried to protect our door frames, woodwork, and hardwood floors from their winter boots and equipment. They did a visual inspection first, then brought in the appropriate equipment. They were unable to go onto the roof for the upper flue inspection due to the heavy snow but inspected the lower part thoroughly. The entire process was quick, thorough, and suprisingly dust-free due to a special type of vacuum extractor which they used! We would certainly recomment them as well as use them again.

Very impressive service I've owned my house for 8 years and never had the chimney serviced. After reading the reviews for Century Chimney Sweep, I gave them a call. Gary got back to me within 5 minutes and set up an appointment that was convenient for me despite an already jam-packed schedule. Upon arriving and inspecting my chimney and though I readily admitted I knew absolutely nothing about chimney maintenance, Gary informed me that although I hadn't had anything done to the chimney for a significant amount of time it was not in need of cleaning. He then indicated he would go up on the roof and examine my chimney for safety issues. He let me know the repairs that would be necessary on my chimney with no pressure whatsoever from him to get them done right then and there or even by him at all. All in all, I was very impressed with the service on every level. Both Gary and Greg were polite and courteous, very professional, personable and very clearly experts at what they do.

It was a perfect experience. I left a message for Gary (the owner) and he called me back within 10 minutes. We discussed what I wanted done, and scheduled an appointment for the next week. Gary and his partner, Greg, were actually early which was wonderfully refreshing. They started by asking me if I was an experienced fireplace user or if I would like a little crash course on proper fireplace care and the basic mechanics. This was great because this is the first house my wife and I have lived in that has a working fireplace. Gary gave a clear and concise explanation of the basic parts of a fireplace, showed me how to properly use the damper, and told us about some of the most common fireplace problems and their causes so we could avoid them. Greg and Gary did thorough visual inspections from the bottom and top of both of our fireplaces, and insured that there was enough draw for both to work properly. They told us about a couple of potential issues, and said that one wasn't serious and that we probably wouldn't need to fix it (and described why in detail) and gave us a quote for the second one (putting a new concrete crown on the chimney; their quote was very competitive with roofing companies that also mentioned this issue). I didn't feel any pressure or sales pitch, just that Gary was being helpful and informative. They also installed two caps on our fireplace flues. I asked them whether I should get a multi-flue cap or just individual caps, and Gary responded that multi-flue caps aren't usually cost-efficient unless you are capping 5 or more flues at once (which matches with the math I did when looking at purchasing caps on my own). When they came down from the roof, they also mentioned some places where our roof needed some work just out of pure kindness (they don't do roofing, and didn't try to push a roofing company on us). Overall a great experience with professional, prompt, polite, and knowledgeable guys. We will definitely use them every year while we live in the area.

Gary and Greg are great! They were right on time, didn't complain that I forgot to clean out last night's ashes (which I don't consider their job), and explained not only the services they were rendering, but discussed the structure and history of our fireplace as well, which- top to bottom- is a little odd and pretty old (1925). They were honest and didn't "force a sale." And finally, they were respectful of our home and furniture. All in all, an A++ experience. I feel a whole lot safer using the fireplace now that they've been here.

I called Gary to troubleshoot why our fireplace was not drafting properly. Gary scheduled an appointment time with me and even called the day before as a reminder. Gary showed up on-time and was very professional. Used drop-cloths on my carpeting and had a second man with him to run out to the truck for additional supplies when needed to expedite the time spent at my home. Gary recommended a smoke guard to correct my drafting problem. It's just a metal piece the mounts at the top of the fireplace opening that hangs down several inches to reduce the opening size. Gary guaranteed me that this would correct the problem. Total time at my house was less than 40 minutes.

Gary was great! Really lovely and professional.

It was very easy to get ahold of them and set up the consultation. They arrived promptly on time. The owner and another experienced worker were very professional and courteous. They suggested making 3 new chimney caps (with light masonry for proper fit) and that, though it hadn't been serviced in at least 5 years, the chimney didn't require sweeping/work. Very honest, I thought. Since they charged $100 for each custom cap and 125 for masonry, they said they were waiving the usual $75 consultation fee. They stated there was no need to call them for another 2-3 years for the next inspection. I will definitely use them again.

Gary and Greg were very professional and personable. They put down dropcloths to protect our floors and plugged their equipment into different outlets to avoid overloading a circuit. They noted that the concrete crown was beginning to fall apart. They left an estimate and suggested that it be replaced next spring. They arrived on time, worked diligently, and completed the work in 45 minutes. I will definitely use Century Chimney again and will recommend them to anyone needing chimney service.

Gary called to say they were going to be a few minutes later than scheduled. When he arrived, he was very polite, soft spoken, and respectful of my home-his partner was too. He listed to my questions and answered them in a way that did not make me feel inferior or pressured to buy additional services. He was honest about my chimney's condition (did not need to be cleaned) and was able to give me pointers about using my fireplace since it is my first woodburning fp. I felt relaxed during the whole experience and trust the company's judgement. I will use them again.

Made recommendations regarding service that I needed that his company does not perform (new caps) and gave me the name of another service provider. Was honest in telling me that I did NOT need to have the chimney swept, that it was clean and ready to go (I had never used it before). He was honest, prompt and professional. He and his partner wore uniforms with nametags - nice touch.

They suggested we get someone that specializes in rebuilding. They gave us an honest appraisal and I appreciated that.

The other chimney- originally built for the furnace, but was never connected to it - was occupied at the time by a HUGE raccoon (said it was the biggest one they'd seen) and at least one baby. We decided to wait until the baby(ies) were able to climb out and then Century Chimney will return and make that chimney undesirable to them so they will move out and THEN they will put on the 2nd cap. I was pleased that the critters did not have to be destroyed. They were so professional and truly nice guys. Left the place s*** and span, too.

They showed up on time and cleaned my chimney. They were prompt and courteous and seemed knowledgeable. They also found a couple of cracks in my flue and showed me how to use my camper (we just bought the house). I'd use them again.

Gary and Greg showed up right on time to inspect and give me an estimate of cost. they put tarps down on my carpet to keep things clean. they showed me how to use my old fireplace damper, in case I wanted to keep it. I decided to go with a newer damper without any sales pressure form the guys. They were able to do all the work immediately, and were out in less than an hour. I asked for some advice on what type of logs to use and replacing the fireplace glass/screen covering. they offered to remove the old doors for me. I didn't grade them on cost because I didn't get quotes from other companies, so I have no comparison.

Pretty smooth. I called Century from an article on chimney sweeping in the Plain Dealer. The inspection was completed quickly and in a professional manner.

They explained everything very well and were professional. I thought it was quality work but a little expensive.
