Zimmer Heating & Cooling

I called Zimmer @ 2:30 PM in the middle of a snowstorm with no heat in the house. They said they would send a tech out ASAP. They called an hour later to let me know the tech would be there @ 4:30. The tech showed on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, and had the replacement part in his van. I was a bit shocked at how much the tiny ignition mechanism cost, but I was in no position to shop around. In the end, it was worth having my furnace repaired so quickly. I am a new homeowner and this was my first home repair crisis... Zimmer made it surprisingly painless!

Tim arrived as scheduled and checked the furnace and cleaned the filters. He was polite and seemed knowledgeable.

Great! Nate, the service guy, came when promised--I got a call from the main office when he was on his way. A part took a while to come in from the manufacturer, but Nate installed it the day it arrived.

I had Zimmer come out as they had a coupon in the publication. The technician came and said there was a clogged pipe. He said it needed a new check valve. I paid $65 for the visit. He came back the next day to put the part on. When he turned the boiler back on, he said it was broken. He said he noticed the water was coming out from underneath before. I had a bill for $275. I wrote on the contract that the payment was on hold because I did not think the part should have been used when it was broken. We negotiated $200 for the price of the service based on the technician?s assurance that the part could have been used when a new boiler was installed. If the boiler was broken, I do not think he should have done any work on it. Another company came out and cut the part away when they replaced the boiler. I called Zimmer and they were to call me about the issue. They never called me back. I am disputing the $135 for the part. Most people charge $168 for the check valve; they were going to charge me $275. I was fine paying the $65 for the service call but did not want to pay for an unnecessary part.

I am ambivalent about them. There are two tests that they need to pass, one of which is the electrical test, and it took them 3 times to pass the electrical certification. I have a feeling that the people who were there earlier and who were not good enough have been either fired or relocated. They are not associated anymore with them. They gave us an estimate of about $3000 for the air conditioner alone but there was some confusion about whether the unit was a 2000 unit or a 3000 unit. They gave us a credit owing to this confusion. When my husband called the first set of people, they lied. They said that they didn?t have the unit and then they put a wrong system in. They had to take it out, and to do that they had to cut through the housing, and patch it back. It was not a nice experience. However, Zimmer credited us. They were good in some parts, while they weren?t in others. We have them clean the air conditioner unit, and one person came out to check the thermostat. It didn?t seem to be cutting in correctly, so then a second man came out and installed a new thermostat. He didn?t put it over the hole of the existing one. He put it next to it. So now we?ve got a hole in the wall. The fellow came back to double check it and I told him about this. Their quality is a mixed bag. They came out on a Saturday free of charge when I was having trouble with it - I wasn?t sure that it was responding. They came over right away and decided that it wasn?t set correctly. The guy who came next did all the stuff. They come when they say they will. The original person who installed the unit seemed to have done a good job except that they did not bother to have their license checked.

We will use them again to replace the air-conditioner replaced this summer. We were very happy with them. They were here when they said they would and did a great job. The work was done when I was just out of the hospital and my 92 year old mother was with us. It was the first time the Weather got really cold and we called them and they came out. They gave us different options and my husband was quite happy.

They are respectful and punctual. I would recommend him to anyone. I called and they showed up the same day.

The service they provided us was adequate. I felt like their price was competitive.

I contacted Zimmer on a holiday (memorial day). AC was out at condo. They dispatched a technician later that day. He diagnosed the problem. The next day, Monday, a sales rep gave me a quote. I accepted after getting another company's bid. Zimmer scheduled and install the new system the following Tuesday.

They're timely, efficient, friendly, and show up when they say they will.

I called Zimmer one afternoon and spoke with a nice lady who scheduled and appointment a few a hours later. Scott arrived and determined that the problem. The part was ordered and repaired a couple days later.

I wouldn't say the work they did was excellent, more like fair quality work. The workers were very polite, and the price was inexpensive for the job they did. I was satisfied with the job they did.

Zimmer Heating and Cooling was great. I've never had a more complete furnace check up in my life. The workers were just absolutely outstanding. They inspected and cleaned the furnace. I have never seen anyone as thorough as they were. I went ahead and signed up for a full year of service from them. They specialize in the brand of furnace that I have in my home.

They did a good job and were nice to deal with but I felt they were very overpriced.

Dave Hicks came out to give a quote. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us. The quote was the lowest we received (of 3). After talking more extensively about our future heating plans, Mr. Hicks delivered a slightly larger boiler (105,000 versus 80,000 BTU) at the original price quoted. The weekend before the work was scheduled to begin, our old boiler went out. Zimmer came and fixed it at no charge. The work itself went smoothly. The installers were real craftsmen, and took into account our desires in terms of routing pipes and such. The only issue that came up was with the domestic hot water unit. Because we wanted it place at some distance from the boiler, the factory control algorithm began having difficulty starting the unit. Zimmer came out twice to fix it, finally calling on the manufacturer. It turns out the manufacturer was aware of the issue, and had already developed a work around. The additional control unit required did fail after about a month, but Zimmer was back the next day to repair it. Overall we had an excellent experience and appreciate Zimmer's effort and professionalism. We love the domestic hot water unit. The price for all the work does seem very high in an absolute sense, but it was very reasonable relative to the other quotes we received.

It went well. Our new system is working fine. We hope the efficiencies will save us money on our bills - this is why Chris Zimmer recommended a heat pump for our home. He knew exactly what we should get and the crew who installed the systems was great. A service team is due to come out to make sure everything is in order and we understand how the new thermostat works! That is great service.

They were very quick in their work and responsive and prompt in getting back to us about the appointment. They were very nice to us and treated us well.

Fantastic people that were prompt, polite courteous. Work entailed replacing refrigerant, a capacitor and a switch. The capacitor and switch were wearing down (the switch contacts were pitted) and I was shown the problem and offered the opportunity to replace the parts in advance.

I called, made an appointment for later in the day. They called 20 minutes before the technician arrived on time. He found the problem, fixed it, tested it. He was professional, clean, knowledgeable. I didn't know the $100 service call fee only included travel & diagnosis. The repair was an extra $50.

They were very nice and professional. I am waiting to hear from my adjuster as to who I will go with.
