When you've experienced the unsavory side of contracting, you truly appreciate guys like Mike that approach their work with pride. I would and will absolutely use Mike again in the future.
Description of Work: Mike moved a new A/C unit that was installed by another provider too close to the property line (per City of Norwood code) on a house I was rehabilitating. Mike also found several quality control issues with that install and rectified all of them. I also utilized Mike in my own home to tune up our furnace prior to the harsh 2014 Winter.

He took care to ensure HVAC vents were properly prepared for drywall installation and volunteered to return after drywall was installed to insert heat vents. I was pleased with Mike's work and his commitment for performing quality work.
Description of Work: Add 4 heat runs, air return, exhaust fan and vent for basement that was in the process of being finished.

 + -1 moreIt was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was good. There were no additional charges. It was my first time to use them. He was very nice and informative. The house is kind of new to me because I just bought it a year ago and I don't know anything about the A/C so I wanted it to be inspected and kind of see what it's like. For punctuality, he was late. I will use him again in the future.
Description of Work: Mike Wightman Heating & Air LLC came out and inspected the furnace and A/C and then went out and did a little tune up on the A/C unit itself outside. It was just a preventative service.

So, I do not know what the process of that, and they told me it was clean when I came back. This is the first time I cleaned the air conditioner. The price should have been okay.

He also looked at my furnace because I was going to have him service it this fall but he told me it wasn't necessary, it was already clean.

 + -1 moreThe unit wasn't cooling very well, you could really hear the unit running constantly at an increased volume. Mike checked the blower on the basement unit, thoroughly cleaned the outside unit and checked the pressures. Very knowledgeable, explained the importance of proper maintenance to keep the unit running at its best, including the differences between filters and when to change them. Since he serviced our unit, it has been operating much more efficiently, cooling faster and not running as long. We had contacted him through our homeowner warranty, but were impressed enough to also have him perform a cleaning service on a house that we are selling. We intend to schedule him for another cleaning next spring. His fee was over twenty dollars less than the fees of other services that we had contacted.

 + -1 moreIn checking the AC Freon level, he neglected to open the proper valve resulting in a low reading. He discovered his problem after trying to add Freon and the levels were good. Had trouble getting the cover on furnace unit. Didn't check or clean the inside coils.

Mike was very courteous and prompt the entire process; great follow-up and prompt, and answered all my questions. This is a new home to us and we weren't sure if the previous owner had regular service, but Mike was amazed how clean it was and even said the furnace probably doesn't need attention this fall.  + -1 moreMike called me very quickly after purchasing the online deal and set up an appointment. He was very prompt and a very friendly guy. We just moved into a foreclosure and hadn't turned the air conditioning on yet, I didn't even know if it worked or not. I was working from home that day, so when he arrived I showed him where everything was, and then I went back to work and let him at it. He cleaned it and inspected it, and said it looks old (it was) but seems to be in good shape. We turned it on real quick (it was 70 that day, didn't leave it running) and everything seemed fine. It got hot a week later, and we finally turned the air conditioner on. It only blew hot air! Called someone else to look at it, and followed the new guy around this time. The new guy found the problem right away, there no freon in it!! I helped him look for leaks, there were no leaks. He said there is no way the prior technician checked the freon level, it couldn't have leaked out that fast. New guy filled it up and it's still running fine a month later. I don't pretend to be a HVAC expert so I could be wrong, but it really really looks like Mike didn't check the freon levels. I would not use him again.

 + -1 moreMr. Wightman phoned to schedule an appointment the day I purchased the Angie's List deal. I had to phone back to reschedule from his chosen date and he accomodated. He was spot on with arrival time and went to work inspecting the system and then cleaned the outside unit and checked it. My unit is in good health and that is good to know. He was professional, courteous, and prompt - all good things in a contractor. And, an important point for me is that he did not say anything about his prior customers. Too many folks I've interviewed for doing work, or who have done work under my home warranty, have talked negatively about their prior customers and that is a 'no-no' in my book for anyone wanting to gain respect for coming back to do any more work for me.

Description of Work: Excellent service. We had been having difficulties with out heat pump/ AC system since we moved into our new home. 3 different companies had come out to service our outdoor unit with 3 different repairs each time, none of which helped the situation. Mike was able to identify the problem and fix it quickly. As soon as the parts were in he was out to the house to get them installed. Im not the most handy person with the HVAC system, and Mike was able to instruct me on what the issues were and to help me understand. He is a very trustworthy individual and I trust him to do the correct thing at a fair price. I'll never use another heating and AC guy again.

 + -1 moreMike was referred to us by our home warranty company but we have experienced wonderful, caring and over the top service. Our heat went out twice over a 24 hour period which has led us to a new furnace replacement. We are located on the east side of town and he was at our door step at 7:30 am and then again that night at 11:30 pm (didn't leave until 12:30). Who could ask for more responsiveness. We have a 5 month infant and my husbands father living with us so heat is REALLY important! Although we are still without heat, we will be getting a furnace through our home warranty company and that is our hold up. Mike will install the unit for us, and I will update after everything is complete! Mike provided us with 5 quotes for a new furnace, as our is 26 years old. All were extremely reasonable and great warranty's but of equipment and labor. If we weren't having the equipment supplied by the Home Warranty company we would have definitely worked with the estimates provided. VERY IMPRESSED ALL AROUND...look for an update once we have heat!
Description of Work: Responded to a no heat call after being referred to by Home Warranty company. He replaced ignitor at 7:30 am but heat went off again by 9:00pm. Mike returned again that night to fix our heat. We had heat until 3pm but it ended up being another part needed but it was no longer made because unit is 26 years old. Mike went above and beyond during this entire process. He stands behind the product and is very service oriented. He responded to my first call at 6:30 am and was at my house with in an hour. Second call was at night and he left our house at 12:30am. We have an elderly father-n-law and five month old baby in our house so heat is important. All of this was done without an established relationship. A new furnance was needed and since it was covered by the Home Warranty company we had to wait for their proposal for what they would replace. However with a builder grade model and 80%. We decided to upgrade to a 95% furnace and have been really happy with the furnace. It has been several months since the install and we are very pleased with the difference in the balance of heating with a variable speed motor. He has also done service for my mother's home and been nothing but informative and respectful. I would highly recommend him.
